Blair and Bush need no more reasons to carpet bomb another Muslim country. This is about power; you don't need reasons. What can stop their power is power. 3. Originally posted by Zephyrine: Every single act committed so far has hurt Muslims more than it has hurt those that it was supposedly aimed at (the western governments). So what does that say? Those behind the bombings would disagree with you. They have calculated it will significantly hurt the UK's economy, in both the short and long terms. The financial markets of the West cannot withstand insecurity & instability in any degree or form. Just think about how much the UK's public transportation system would stand to lose (9 millions taking the tube & buses every day). The goal of those behind the bombings is to bleed the UK's economy. Recession is to be expected in a few years. The lost of $billions in prospective investments is to be expected. High rate of unemployment is to be expected. Allocating a good chunk of the budget in securing the country is to be expected.

My point being, one doesn't need be a Somali to to get involved in this world issue; one only needs be a Muslim. What hurts one Muslim hurts another.
  5. Originally posted by Sniper: Hopefully Somalis in UK are not ****** enough to get involved in this world issue. What does this has to do with being ****** enough? Suppose you were peacefully living in Somalia, and without provocarion the Brits invaded it, and along the way massacred your family members- now, do you need to be ****** enough to to get involved in this world issue? 10. This is going to hurt the UK's economy. This will gradually turn the UK into a police state.
  11. Good analysis. While the US is bogged down in Iraq & Afghanistan, other giants are leisurely emerging on the horizon. It's not a closed secret the US would get replaced as an economic/military giant in a span of few decades. The US' ambitions in Iraq & Afghanistan have gone awry. Its plans of oil prices reaching $6/barrel have been proven to be illusion. The US alienated secular leaders/governments of the Middle East as a result of invading Iraq. It's not a secret those leaders/governments are supporting the Iraq insurgency in various formats (financially, logistically, armamentary, etc). As a result, a long protracted struggle has to be expected. There's also bin Laden's promises to bleed the US' economy. No wonder a good chuck of the US' budget is dedicated for the military, security, counter terrorism, and other gun related sectors. I don't think this would lead to WW3, because it would result in mutual annihilation. Instead, confrontations would happen in the form of supporting an armed opposition of the foe, in order to force a slowing.

The US might be the richest nation on earth, quantitatively, not qualitatively. L'Italia, a country considered at the bottom of West Europe, has a better qualitative lifestyle than the US. A comparison of the following product made in each country is ample example:

There are Somali girls/women in the West who on average spend a combined less than an hour/day in social activities.

  17. Originally posted by STOIC: We know the problem exist but do we have solutions? The solution: Islamic leadership. We know that ummah is weak and backward compared to the world standard. You're overestimating the technological advancements of the West. Those advancements, especially conventional militarism, have limitations. Besides, the Muslim world has the potential to become technologically advanced (Malaysia being a limited example), granted there's a proper leadership. It has also the potential to slow the West's advancements. All this is an evidence that ummah is incapable of competing with the rest of the world. Do you think the West will allow a competing? Do you know what it means the Ummah producing a nuclear warhead for every similar one (or a quarter/half) the West produces? ...shall we look back and see how the ummah have failed to make use of the Islamic spirit of sacrifice and sincerity in one's action? It's leaderships who have failed the Ummah.

And dont forget spiritual guidance, remind her of her obligations to the child she is bearing so she stops complaining and overfeeding herself, instead increase her dhikr. Those are practical positive measures.
  20. I am only concerned about those women in the West (US, Europe, possibly Australia). The environment & atmosphere in Somalia doesn't help one to get obese. As how it can be curbed; limit significantly red meat, fat & oil consumptions, while increasing fruits, veggies and seafood. Also, exercise for 30 minutes/day, at least by walking.

Religion is the only factor that can unite Somalis and solve their troubles. Somalis have different languages & cultures. Af-Maay differs from af-Soomaali. The culture of riverine people differs from the culture of nomads. Just a few examples of linguistic and cultural differences, which aren't important or critical factors to unite Somalis.
