Asalaamu'calaykum, Interesting. I'm going to have to agree with Yasmine (You seem to always say exactly what I’m thinking, lol). As far as I know gaalada have been making babies before marriage for a very long time now. Yes its scary that our children have to grow up in a society where making babies seems to be a hobby, but that’s what comes with living in the west. I have heard of few cases where Somali couples have been married off "in a hurry" and have babies "in a hurry" lakiin when it comes to the crunch I’m sure the parties involved are feeling pretty shitty themselves and don’t need more added so we should mind our own business. Hide the faults of your Muslim brother and Allah shall hide your faults on the Day of Judgment. Keep in mind I’m not agreeing that’s the way we Muslims should act (sex b4 marriage) lakiin in order to stop this problem we need to do less gossip and more Dac’wa. This is what happens when we side track off the deen and give in to our desires and the way of the west. Side tracking a bit here lakiin one thing I have also noticed is that when young Somali couples run off with each other (because the parents don’t want the marriage to happen) the marriage doesn’t seem to last. Now this is something that is related to our community. What makes me sad is that in most of these cases the girl falls pregnant and is left as a single mother. I know of a few and some of them walhamdulilah have realized their mistakes and have become stronger in faith. When it comes to marriage you need to start off on a good note, the way I see it is that in order to have khayr in something you need to start it off with khayr, and do things in the right manner, in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah. Wabilahi’towfeeq, Wasalaam.

I do admit to following you in to the kitchen and hiding all forms of salt from you, and I do that entirely out of love I tell ya. So you’re not the only one. But I’m glade you read this posting its good to see that you can find and relate to people that although you don’t know personally, you feel that they truly understand you. Ah the power of SOL. damn I feel like an Advertisement tool for SOL. Asalaamu'Calaykum, x_quizit about the chicken business I think this one actually has some basis to it. People say that it's caused by the fact that these western countries pump so much hormones in them to make them grow bigger fast. These hormones may cause hairiness (BTW don’t quote me on this, I ain’t no doc) Gediid that’s the most logical explanation so far. Still with all these gimmicks to keep us young ladies off the good things in life (i.e. shaah) I still love going against such customs. But I think the one about falling pregnant just by sitting on the same bed with a man was a smart one and the only one which although I know isn’t true I’ll convince my own kids that too, loool, just to be safe lool.

Asalaamu'Calaykum, Kynda abayoo macaanee you finally got your SOL passport and shaarcii Welcome to the world of nomads. Sit down, relax and let the SOL’s friendly staff look after you But I still can’t get over how much effort it took just to register, Subxan’Allah. Worth the effort though I guess, it’s such a neighborhood. Yasmine sister I think you pretty much summed it up. Athena its a personal choice at the end of the day, and I think its a little extreme to compare eating with your hands with FGM. Hygiene is something that can be practiced but I’m telling you it can never be mastered so don't be getting your knickers in a knot about it let, just let bygones be bygones. I personally eat with both my hands and with cutlery, which ever I feel like. When I eat out I probably eat using cutlery, but my hands come in when its needed (with class that is, you still have to practice manners in public) Like Kynda said, just remember Bisinka before you start and Alxamdulilah after your done and everything is sweet. Adios Amigos, Wasalaam

Asalaamu'Alaykum, Som'met is a rough place. I think it's mostly to do with its leniency towards certain behaviors. I was actually a moderator there (I guess I still am) and I tell you its tough walahi. I don't do a very good job because I just can’t keep up with them. I’m usually tempted to just delete every thing posted. Not to mention its hard not to feel like a lone soldier, I don’t know what the admin gets up to but he's got a lot of work to do. And not to mention the harassment sheeesh. I think that they should install some sort if filtering system or something because it seems to be getting worse. But I must admit it wasn’t that bad once upon a time they've had they’re good times. It only takes a few rotten apples to spoil the box as they say. I have to say though, I applaud the Somaliaonline staff for the work they've done on keeping this site squeaky clean. Masha'Allah wasalam

>(A scene at City Hall in San Francisco) > > > >"Next." >"Good morning. We want to apply for a marriage license." >"Names?" >Tim and Jim Jones." >"Jones? Are you related? I see a resemblance." >"Yes, we're brothers." >"Brothers? You can't get married." >"Why not? Aren't you giving marriage licenses to same gender couples?" >"Yes, thousands. But we haven't had any siblings. That's incest!" >"Incest?" No, we are not gay." >"Not gay? Then why do you want to get married?" >"For the financial benefits, of course. And we do love each other. >Besides, we don't have any other prospects." >"But we're issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples who've >been denied equal protection under the law. If you are not gay, you can >get married to a woman." >"Wait a minute. A gay man has the same right to marry a woman as I have. >But just because I'm straight doesn't mean I want to marry a woman. I >want to marry Jim." >"And I want to marry Tim, Are you going to discriminate against us just >because we are not gay?" >"All right, all right. I'll give you your license. Next." > > >"Hi. We are here to get married." >"Names?" >"John Smith, Jane James, Robert Green, and June Johnson." >"Who wants to marry whom?" >"We all want to marry each other." >"But there are four of you!" >"That's right. You see, we're all bisexual. I love Jane and Robert, Jane >loves me and June, June loves Robert and Jane, and Robert loves June and >me. All of us getting married together is the only way that we can >express our sexual preferences in a marital relationship." >"But we've only been granting licenses to gay and lesbian couples." >"So you're discriminating against bisexuals!" >"No, it's just that, well, the traditional idea of marriage is that it's >just for couples." >"Since when are you standing on tradition?" >"Well, I mean, you have to draw the line somewhere." >"Who says? There's no logical reason to limit marriage to couples. The >more the better. Besides, we demand our rights! The mayor says the >constitution guarantees equal protection under the law. Give us a >marriage license!" >"All right, all right. Next." > > >"Hello, I'd like a marriage license." >"In what names?" >"David Deets." >"And the other man?" >"That's all. I want to marry myself." >"Marry yourself? What do you mean?" >"Well, my psychiatrist says I have a dual personality, so I want to marry >the two together. Maybe I can file a joint income-tax return." >"That does it! I quit!! You people are making a mockery of marriage!!"
