I think there's already a quotes topic here somewhere. But I'd like to collect and post quotes here that meant something to me someway or the other. just for reading pleasure. Here it goes: ''A failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best one can can do under circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying.'' - B. F. Skinner

LOL that was my first job too. Surprisingly, I did it for 5 years in my neigbourhood. Can't believe I lasted that long. All those winters on my own. But at some point you get used to it I guess. Also, in the winters, some of the people would feel sorry for me, going around with my bike in the snow, and they'd give me extra money when I got at their door, and I'd always be like; I don't need your money, thank you very much. LOL too proud to take it

I think somalis have a party 7 days after their wedding (not that it is necessary but I guess for somalis it means something ).. P.s Hambalyo marlabaad. Cimri dheer iyo farxad ku nolaada. Thank you sis, ones again, to everyone else as well. And yes, I did have a party, just not after the 7 days, but also at the wedding party (which was btw segregated). Wedding feist plus shaash saar in the same evening. Reason being, my inlaws came all the way from Holland, and they wanted to be part of the shaash saar as well, so did everything in one day. I quite enjoyed it, loved it
  11. Jazak'Allahu khairan everyone, with all the advices, really appreciate it I can now officially say that I'm a married woman, alhamdulilah. Todobada waa ka soo baxay, survived that with nobody getting hurt lool @Garnaqsi: We've known each other for 2 years prior getting married @Raula: Ofcourse my family knew about it. LOL
  12. Salaam brothers and sisters, A lot has happened over the year, some up and downs but alhamdulilah. Just wanted to share some very good news with you all. Ones again alhumdulilah with the help and blessing of Allah I will be getting married on the 1st of September. I would just like to ask my brothers and sisters here please to make dua for us and that Allah blesses our marriage abundantly, In-shaa'Allah. Jazak'Allah in advance. May Allah bless you all, and bless those who are seeking to get married with a good, loving & pious spouse. Ameen.
  13. Happy belated birthday ukhti, May Allah give you many more years in-shaa'Allah
  14. I know it shouldn't bother me because it's really none of my business... but it annoys me when some people have been so ''good'' during ramadan deenwise, and masha'allah I'm always happy to see that, but then right after it's over right away, they go astray, and go about as they used to before ramadan. I always like to think that it's good people change themselves and some of their habits during ramadan, the atmosphere definitely makes it easier, and you just hope they continue to do so after ramadan as well I guess
  15. I guess people gossip to keep themselves entertained, truthful or not, people will spread them. It's easier said than done to not just care about. I would find it quite annoying. Trek je er niks van aan carafaat!
  16. I really don't think it's fair against the person you're marrying. Resolve your issues first and focus on other things than finding a significant other, and then get married when time is right. Imagine you get married while you're still in love with someone's else, and you keep thinking about that other person while you're with your husband/wife. I think that's completely unfair against the other person.
  17. Happy Somalia Independence Day. I pray for freedom and happiness. May we live to see that day. Ameen thumma ameen.
  18. I honestly used to HATE football, I used to think it was beyond pointless. Lakin, I found myself LIKING it o_O I surprised all the male relatives in my family with my sudden interest! LOL I can't really say I LOVE it now, but it is quite interesting to watch sometimes, somehow I feel the excitement all the gents are feeling when they're watching a game. To a certain extent I understand what's going on, but those long a$$ discussions after the game are a no-no for me Best to just leave em or join them. Why spoil the game for them by being annoying?
  19. lol I just noticed the xawaash thread in the general section. Those couple are the same people who do the SomaliFoodBlog (youtube) I posted about
  20. Thanks ukhti. It's definitely a little bit different than your usual baasto al foorno, great taste nevertheless. Although when I tried it, the bechamel sauce turned out to be way too much, ended up throwing away almost half of it Might wanna half it next time lol I personally love their blog cuz of the measurements, ingredients and steps on the screen. Check out their other recipes as well Wa alaykum salaam. Ps. Love the puddle cookies you posted earlier. Will try them in shaa'allah
  21. lol yh I wouldn't recommend using that much as well, adjust it to your own preferences
