I have made my choice: I will defend the genuine interest of the Somali nation and denounce all injustices and political/religious pretenders good choice of words - however, the genuine interest that are refering to - are they the same ones that Fabregas aspires to?? if not define yours please and copyright it.

Cheap Jeep & Fake Orange from Mugdi Mudug - same place that gave birth the two most notorius somali warlords inni Caydiid iyo inni Yey; one started the curse i am talking about and the other took it to the next level of depravity & immorality. hence you two shouldn't even speak on this topic. Xundhuf - first time i seen you make sense - were you sober when you wrote that??? Maroodi - what do you know about honesty - since you ca not even spell it properly Abwaan - marka adigu ma toobad kentay??

Sorry Malika, reading back my question - i realise i asked it in the wrong tone - i meant to say and HOW did you let him down Have you noticed that families do not like to tell the whole truth, and only if they do it would save a lot of peoples time, and perhaps the young person could be given the appropriate support? I noticed. comparable to Albanians, South Americans, Portuguese etc we don't say untill it is too late. but the youngesters trusted me enought to approach on many issues. it was the parents i had difficulties with. one of my ex-pupils is serving life sentence of 30yrs now. very sad. LOL@ Ngonge - 21st century Cigaal Shidaad - your motto should be "Geesi hooyadiis gablantay".

the clan curse i am talking about is reference to the wider/greater somalia/somalis. in regards to the above two incidents i mentioned. if you don't agree with it - come up with substantial agruement to disprove it or keep trap closed and stop your fingers waggling over the keyboard. As for you two being guarded in Qardho? well guards or no guards one of you will be karbashed for insulting the decency and morals of Qardho. the other will be stoned for too much cantarabaash and claiming to come from dhulka-udgoon when he stinking of clan wailers.

Qardho, Qardho, Qardho, Qardho - Qar laydinka tuur! FYI: regarding Those killers and their accomplices: even though some of them were sentenced to death - that has not still taken place - argument over the two who fired - which one's bullet actually killed the Governer and family being pressured to accept blood money rather than killing these men. they are however still in jail. family leaning to accepting the blood money - apparently one of their kin was killed while back and they accepted blood money hence the pressure. besides Marxuum Yaasin Saacid had four wives and few children - apparently the blood money would help them rather than the killers death so are some reasoning. leave Qardho alone now and learn to spell properly. -
Originally posted by NGONGE: If Cabdi and his brothers/cousins have learned the idea of fighting in groups already, it sounds to me that Cabdi has no cultural problems. He's just a little, snivelling, trashy thug. Sounds to me like he would be a troublemaker in ANY place or setting. (Good luck with such a mad job). you wanna say that to his face - preferable in Somali LOL - fabregas - you had an experience. you and Ibti both need to tame down a bit. to many fights are not good for your health.

Categorisation generaly doesn;t help, but in the case of data driven british services. if the Somali children are not doing well. then it would show on data and such something will have to be done about it - bet it hiring the right people/facilities as you put it or looking to other barriers that might be hindering them.

I was reading the recent events that have been unfolding in Dhulka-Udgoon. in one of the articles a commentator, alludes to that these events might be happening because the administration sinned, because they held fanciful parade in front of hungry and thirsty population (inkaarta/isha masaakiinta ayaa ku dhacday), when they could use that money to feed and quench the thirst of some of the people at least. Anyway this thread is not about that, but it reminded me of something that i believe - that has merit, when you looked from theological view point as well as practical and religious view point. it is a well known fact that in 1975, Gen M.S Barre executed ten religious leaders for publicly opposing the government’s new Family Law. Many of the religious figures who agreed with them or opposed their deaths were subsequently sent to detention centres. Those who were not arrested either left the country or went underground and stopped being imams in their local Masjids. When this happened nobody made a big fuss about it save few students who burned some tyres on the streets of Mogadishu. There no movements/guerrillas set up to overthrow the president or revenge the cold blooded murder of those sheikh who spoke their mind and was killed for it. three years later in 1978, ten (they were 12, but 10 from the same clan) soldiers were killed for attempted coup. well as they say the rest is history. there were immediate call for arms and avenge, there were movements/guerrillas /jamhads set up. which culminated in the ouster of the president. What happened then? they turn on each other and others even said; no we are breaking away. We fought for clan, when we could have fought for right then. Sheikh Al-Albani was talking about the Somali situation in the early nineties, when talked about the incident in 1975 he said "on that day, a train to Janna, traveled thru Somalia and only ten men got on it" - well i say, three years later a train to hell traveled thru Somalia and majority of Somalis got on it. Do you believe that Somalia is cursed with clanism????

LOL@Eurotrash - and you are "coreeeh blimey-trash" on serious note: Somalis are invisible groups even amongst Black and Caribbean students. I have always suggested Somalis are subsumed within the black category in ethnic monitoring category. We need our own ethnic cateogry so that our needs can be addressed. Not anymore in London's 32 Boroughs - thanks to lambeth. Nationwide the debate is still going and is spearheaded by - you guessed it - Lambeth.

Ibtisaam - my brother who came to collect me ask me the same thing. i am telling you what i told him "it was knee jerk reaction - he put his nose in my mouth - i just closed it". Marx - thanks for the big up. i did well, lucky for me, when we went back home there was another letter from another school we applied who was offering me a place. i left a year later with 7 GCSE, unfortunately only one was C the rest below D-G. once i grasped the language it was plain sailing from there onwards. Unfortunately, somalis being nomads do not choose their travelling times bit carefully, they just up and move when they see green pastures on another place. i was doing well in secondary school in finland, when my brother just told us one in christmas break - "we moving to london next week" and that was that. how many times i have seen and worked with uprooted children from Scandanevian countries, Holland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden etc, who were either in the final years of secondary or primary or were about to even seat at exams. it is sad thinking about it sometimes. Don't even mention consideration or consultation with the young people. it is reerku waa guurey or the highway.

LOOOOOOOOOOL@ ibtisaam being a tomboy. since we are sharing our little younger days stories - when i arrived in this country, i joined school late May of year 10 - couple months before the end of the year. Spoke enough tourist english i.e asking questions about directions - thats it. My first day in all boys school, the one and only Somali. Second lesson, i don't even know to this day what lesson it was. i sat at the back of the class. As i was seating there clueless, this big afro-caribean boy comes in to class and walks towards me shouting something. it didn't even occur to me he was actually talking to me. i just stared at him blank wondering what is he on about. untill he stood over me cussing and cursing all sort of profounities that i didn't understand. The penny dropped when he kicked the chair. i stood up and suddenly he was in my face - forehead to forehead. The next thing i know - i am biting his nose and the scream he let rib out, deafened the whole school. the other classes were out on the corridors looking into our class - teachers and students. The horrors on the boys' faces and the quick scrambling away when the teacher lead me away from the class is still fresh.

Malika - what happened to M? why did you let him down??

i did one session at the school on INSET day, pompously glorifying the freedom loving egalitarian Somali culture, where we do not infringe on the habitual behaviours of the individual so long at it does not has an impact on others. Talked about certain Somali norms mainly drawn from Islam re etiquettes of eating. More importantly: Somalis high regard for justice – for the wronged one first. i.e. paying attention to the reaction of Abdi is wrong whilst ignoring what caused him to react. Cultural orientation in Citizenship lessons perhaps using comparable customs, traditions, behaviours, cultures and norms. Planned a lesson with one of his teachers, called Clan Vs Class (Somali culture vs British culture), which was well received by the students and they loved the Somali culture. The school is not bad at all; they do have good induction, but not in-depth due to time constraints. There are other Somalis in the school apparently some of them have complained about Abdi’s constant exuberant behaviour and touching – putting arms around their necks, messaging one’s chin when asking for favours, however there are no boys in Abdi’s year. All issues have been resolved now – Thank God.

KK - waxaagu waa isha iska rid haddaad tagto meel la wada il layahay. guess what i said to the school when they asked for my help.

somalis have HEARD lots of things, just no one ever observed, read, researched, hypothesised, formaluted theories, studied and evidenced, let alone felt, sensed, tasted etc. JUST HEARD!!!

what is the solution? i can't see properly today, i left my glasses at home. and i think you meant to say Sayid

Dunno what to say, cuz any/all of the incedents you noted above aren't just faced by dad wadanka ku cusub...Unfortunatel y, waxaan iyo wax ka daran bey Somalida ku kacaan... did i say what abdi did was anything bad - in my opinion he did nothing wrong.

Abdi is oldest of five siblings and cousins who attend the same secondary school in London. they are all recent arrivals from Somalia via Ethiopia. During their first year in the school, the whole family spearheaded by Abdi have had man clashes with the school both students and teachers. The following are some of the things that started these clashes: Incident 1: Dining Hall. Abdi seats amongs his class mates and chewed his food with open mouth. They told him off for his 'apparent lack of manners'. fight ensues. brothers and cousins join in after school. result; expulsions. Incident 2: Assembly Hall. Abdi seats with his legs crossed over each other 'like a girl'. fellow students call him 'gay'. guess what; fight ensues carries on after school with again brothers and cousins joining in. result another expulsions. Incident 3: Playground. Abdi walkes away from teacher who was having a got at him about another incident: Teacher calls after him by gesturing with his index finger ' come here now'. Abdi turns around and sees red - and then blurts out: "F you, I'm NO DOG"! results expulsion from school. Incident 4: Deputy Head Teacher's Office: Parents are called into a meeting. Abdi's Aunt and his cousins' Mum turn up. Both are chewing gums loudly with open mouth and one of them is even apparently 'making constant click sounds'. what are you to do as the school or think about somalis' culture or custom???
