*qam, qam, qam, dhac, bang* "get it thru your heads - i am not going to marry someone who sounds more feminine than me" - Ibti Jan 2010.
-
hello one and all. Tea Anyone??
-
are you related to any of the "Garowe Boys"?

Ngonge –first of all – kuli fitna is YOU, followed by KK. people are getting all indignant at Ibti’s comments because she mentioned Southern Somalis and the outcaste Somalis at the same sentence in which she said basically that they are all the same to her in terms of equality and she would equally discriminate against them. While you two (Ng & KK) have mastered the art of “afka labeen – uur ka sakiin” by hinting, allude to and even worse sneakily admitting to argue for endogamy spiced up with a waffle baffle hidden as scholarly work with foundation in religion. Poor Ibti is left to carry that budh around, bashing heads like an in-love Neanderthal. and i am here, lying to people everyday at work - claiming - Somalis are original egalitarians franly; we somalis are nothing special - we are racist/prejudicial as the next person on this earth. but we shouldn't be.

All this talk about Nasab iyo Dookh is akin to putting the cart before the horse(to do things in an improper order – mixed up priorities!); The Companion Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying: “A woman may be married for four reasons: for her property, her status, her beauty and her religion, so try to get one who is religious, may your hand be besmeared with dust.” (Sahih Muslim, no. 3497) Today, how many people can honestly claimto follow this Hadith in their choice of a prospective spouse? Having closely observed and participated in meetings where families discuss the merits of prospective spouses for their children, it seems as if piety is the last consideration after ‘noble’ clan liens, material worth (how much the maher would be) and what a good education/job one has. Indeed, in some cases, prospective brides and suitors are outright turned down for being “too religious”. This does not mean that after one satisfies the condition of the prophet (i.e. choosing partner on the merit of their faith and character) one can not look at other reasons such as clan lines, beauty etc. of course given one has to be blessed with so many candidates to choose from in the first place. Is it any wonder then, after we choose to purposely go against the injunctions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that we find there is no barakah (blessing) in those marriages where people who chosen to get married on bases which qabiil your are first and beauty etc. where are the other threads dealing high divorce rates among the community?????? P.S. Tuujiye - waraa batana tuujiye - oo bajaq-bajaq'da ku wareeray - batanka 'qardho' ku qorantahay oo gududka ah haysku riixin yakhay. P.S 2 - also please refrain from calling our noble sisters of every clan "Bajaqley" Sorry - another long one - hope you read!

che and sheh would make a lovely couple just remember to speak to each other in english always. otherwise first; week divorce! Duke. don't call me sweetheart. haddii aadan ahayn laga roone.

^take the qaad off! did you say? taas waa xininyo tabasho

@Duke i would never claim Yey to be my uncle, even if he was, in any situation, let alone for seeking a girl from the north, when my own Addeero are from Burco. It was just my friend who was unfortunate to be Yey's real maternal nephew when he had everything going for him including coming from Qardho.

Ironically, many “noble” clan Somalis seeking refugee or political asylum have falsely claimed outcaste ******-******** status. They do this as the receiving developed nations understand the special jeopardy faced by outcaste ******s, and, therefore usually grant them political asylum. Quite often, when such a false application is granted, the applicant then takes pain to over emphasize, within the Somali community, his or her actual noble status. Somali

Duke - just don't take Mr Yey's picture with you - they are allergic to mere mention of his name let alone you even coming from the same city as him and top of that carrying his picture around Ibti - cid soomaali ah oo wax ii diidi karta maba jidho. i told you before - i am reer qardhood. Che. i admit xamar cadey is nothing (with the exception of X. Taleex, of course)

A caste system is a type of social structure which divides people on the basis of inherited social status. Although many societies could be described in this way, within a caste system, people are rigidly expected to marry and interact with people of the same social class. India has a well known example of a caste system, although various forms of caste systems can be found in many other cultures as well. The first is the tendency toward endogamy, meaning that people marry within the same caste exclusively. Caste mobility is also extremely rare; one cannot transform from a labourer to a scholar except in very rare circumstances, for example. Higher castes traditionally hold all of the political power, and the castes may be divided further through language, culture, and economics. Within a caste system, each member generally knows his or her place, and your social status is usually apparently to others as well. Caste has been an integral part of Somali society for centuries. Caste stratification is a daily component of Somali society. In the smallest nomad village, in towns, in cities, in refugee camps, as well as in the overseas Somali communities, these stratifications are alive and well. Genealogical lines of descent are taught to children from an early age. The family clan history is told and retold throughout life, including its relations with other clans. To be a ******-Madibhan, or an outcaste person, in Somali society is to suffer life-long indignities, to be deemed impure, unlucky, sinful, polluting, and thus meriting the disdain, avoidance, and abuse of others. Even small children shout insults at both child and adult ******s. Many ******s have been denied food, medical treatment, and protection just because of their outcaste status by many other Somalis. The only other somali groups in Somalia treated similarly are the Jareer and Bantu descendants of slaves brought from East Africa over a century ago. Most Somali elders indicate that the polluted status of these despised groups is due to their ancestors breaking of food taboos without cause or an immediate ritual cleansing.
