By the way Ibtishaam, you don't lock horns with grande El Presidente Fidal Castro... you're risking sedition charges by the central committee of the people's revolutionary party, walking on a thin rope dear. I have no desire to lock horns with my atheer, I just felt the need to get few things cleared up. THIS I CAN DEAL WITH. contractive arguments for problems that exist. Is Somaliland at the End of the Road?..A Letter From London But what are these political hiccups? I am not sure there is a soul who identifies with Somaliland who will not acknowledge the spread of these perversities. They include endemic corruption; naked harassment of the media; complete absence of policy (meaningful or otherwise!); unprecedented mass addiction to khat and nicotine; political inertia that partly stems from miss-governance and leadership in absentia. In short Somaliland seems to be lost in grave darkness. Either the light is slowly but systematically being extinguished or a projected façade of determination is fast being uncovered. Either way, Somaliland’s case is crumbling from within. Who is to blame for this disarray? Should we put the blame squarely on the desk of the current government whose preoccupation seems to be harassing the media and issuing baseless promises or should we skin the sadistic political dramatists who are undertaking laughable and sad charades to convince the public of that they are doing serious jobs? Or should we blame the mass addiction of Somalilanders to khat which seem to have reduced all and sundry to walking oblivious zombies whose only pre-occupation is getting the green twigs and dwelling in fantasy world? Or rather should we turn our fury to the political party leadership that is experimenting with leadership by email? Irrespective of who is to blame, the State of Somaliland as we stand is in dire strait. Huge chunk of its territory is in foreign occupation and its resources squandered in broad day light; majority of her citizenry are seriously addicted to khat, caught in a web of corrupt ineffective governance and unending poverty. Her leadership is either conducting sadistic charades or engaged in meaningless debates. Her Diaspora is slowly fading both in terms of relevance and as source of alternative leadership. Her government is ruling in policy vacuum and seems to be content with its increasingly draconian tactics or wondering around the world in meaningless and at time suspect capital cities. A casual look at all sectors reveal miss-governance by either commission or omission. Sixteen years on and we are yet to develop the required educational system that could have trained the acutely needed teachers, nurse, mechanics, accountants, legal technicians and what have you. Every single department is crying for capacity development, organizational restructuring and policy framework. Instead we have had subsequent administrations that seem preoccupied with politics rather than development; semblance rather than substance; numbers rather than quality; foreign matter rather than internal issues. We are yet to put basic administrative structure in large parts of the country; Tax system is anything but a system worth the name, the budgetary process looks like a presidential book-keeping and general economic and fiscal policies have remains in their primordial state. The citizens are hungry for appropriate education, jobs, healthcare that seem to have been left till external support is gained. source: http://www.jamhuuriya.info/index.php?art_id=4293&categ=2&expand=2/&file=view_article.tp

Castor maybe you did not understand what i am shouting over here. I don't see an US and Them sitution. It is more complicated than that, Nor do i think is it a pressing issue. But that does nto mean that people can insult my eyes with rubbish posts such as this which are nothing more than provoCAtion. Balance needs to be maintained in all aspects. I call it as I see it. I don't think your first post was calling it as you saw it.

A truce is being sought by some Somali elders The US and UN have joined calls for a ceasefire in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, following six days of bitter fighting between rival militias. A number of Somali clan elders have been trying to broker a truce. At least 12 people died on Friday. The Red Cross says 80 have been killed this week, while some militia sources say the figure is at least twice that. An Islamist militia is fighting an alliance of warlords it says is backed by the United States. The UN says the Islamists now control 80% of the capital. UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan urged all sides to put down their weapons. A group of clan elders has been mediating with militia leaders to try to bring about a ceasefire. Mediator Sheikh Mohamud Ibrahim Jumale said: "Elders are making last efforts to end the hostilities but the two sides have yet to agree." The warlords were demanding the Islamists withdraw as a precondition, he said. Residents have been forced to flee or hide in storm drains amid an almost constant barrage of mortar shells and gunfire. The fighting has been concentrated in the CC district, where the clashes began on Sunday. BBC Africa editor David Bamford says the fighting began when warlords who had divided Mogadishu into fiefdoms united to tackle a growing Islamist force. He says the Islamists have managed to confine the four main warlords and their militias to separate pockets on the edges of the city. This has raised concern that Somalia's Islamists - if victorious - could end up providing an East African shelter for foreign Islamic militants, our correspondent says. The US has not confirmed or denied backing the warlords but says it would "work with responsible individuals... in fighting terror". Dr Sheikh don Salad Elmi, the director of Medina hospital in South Mogadishu, where many have been brought in with severe injuries, said the fighting was affecting up to 200,000 inhabitants. This is the second round of serious fighting in Mogadishu this year. In March, clashes between the two sides killed at least 90 people. madness. What happen to Islam as a peaceful religion! sources: BBC

^ I didn't mean to offend. I find this whole Somaliland discussion tasteless. And I also find my involvement in it even more tasteless. I'll let you all enjoy your mud slinging. And to be honest with you, I actually used that same line of yours elsewhere. The one about the viable state. Now the question I ask myself is why was it good enough for me and not for you? As you were. sounds like some soul searching is called for. In other threads you seemed unaffected and uninterested, hence my surprise before your “nevermindâ€. i have no desire to enjoy mudslining of any sorts! this topic is Exhausted And over discussed. In any case Some people are simply too old to take sides...
-
All of it.. i read your "nevermind" after i posted. ~The truth is I did mind, and i deeply resent your comments  since you have read my comments, i shall remove them simply because it leads to areas i do not want to head to...

EDIT: I will leave it at that then, shall I

I don't see the big deal. If you have an issue with Somaliland, or any other for that matter then you need to keep it to yourself. Better still don't open any thread that is related to it. Why do you feel the need to not only open the thread, but comment on it? I have seen this all over this forum, including the Somaliland national day thread. Why must you always comment on things? clearly Somaliland people do not care, whether you think it is a country or region or a village, nor whether you think highly of it or you think "it is truly ugly place" It is all personal opinion and based on jack shi*t. If someone wants to post a polite discussion based thread, which is based on facts I doubt anyone has issues with it, but this constant ranting, digs and plain silliness is getting tiring and frankly annoying. You all need to live and let others live. You are all big people. Somaliland is there, deal with it, and stop posting rubbish, instead maybe you should concentrate on getting the rest of Somalia a viable state. cheers

^^^seems like you missed the Joke or "sarcasm" too, and "NO" your comment does not fill me with the urge to debate about this issue ViBe: MY mistake if I got it wrong or jumped on the bandwagon. preharps you are getting to cosy with scarface who happens to have excess khat.darls even if you are not with him, you still run a risk of passive-khating. which is potentially damaging and can make one see things they are not seeing. I don't see the need for this little dig, but whatever rocks your boat. Although I don't see how you can accuse me of getting “cosy†with someone who denies my very existence. Scarface .. As usual you’re making random comments, so what if I was touched ... I just wanted to make sure. Jamilah Ibtisam, what authority do you have to say that unity in Somalia is something that is never going to happen. The fact that Somali’s cannot even get on in a forum is evident in itself. The deep rooted problems and underlining issues that grips the Somali community to the extent that even in Secondary schools here in the West, they have tribal fights and issues. Not to mention that inter-marriages are still a problem. Also what do you class as having "authority" a warlord, President, academic or a researcher? As you alluded to in your posting you are not very knowledgeable in these matters. How does one measure whether I am knowledgeable in these areas or not, maybe I should take a test. "EVEN" I know just simply implies that i thought he knew better and was a reference to a discussion me and him had. If you can make such offensive comments I think Khalaf has every right to smile at what ever comment he wants to. Offensive? How did you judge any of my posts are offensive? Khalaf quoted " Somaliland is truly an ugly place" and smiled. So I simply asked him for a clarification, which he provided. I don't think he needs you help as this was not an issue. But since you took on your self to be his defender maybe you should use something a bit more convincing that "I think". Peace and posperity

Hey need something to wear too... London fashion is going down heel. In a couple of month time, when I need a dress for, lord knows what horrendous outfits and colours will be in fashion. So any nice dresses you see send it my way. Long/ short I’m not bothered. The shoes and bag I can take care of, I see so many beautiful ones on my daily walk in central London.

^^^Really? Not at all. It just means that you are willing to do both, and where there is a will, there is a way. I don't see what sending a pre-written letter to your MP or e-mail or voting for a pro- Palestine instead of Pro- Israel will take away from your contribution to your family. We engage in lots of meaningless things which benefit neither our families nor any other oppressed group in the world. It dos not take a lot, just a simple consideration or posting or signing of something. I understand you have priorities, I really do, but prioritising does not mean inaction in other parts.
