^^I agree, no need to insult her as a person. I don’t care what the secessionists think, or what the looters, clan courts think. What matters is the interest of the Somali people. I am assume "secessionists" are not Somali?? well great, that is settled. The poor, Somal's who for 16 long years have been denied the services, jobs and opportunites available to most of the worlds population. From a personal experience, the SL people's terms; DO IT YOURSELF service operates very well. I'm sure the same principle will operate just as well in Xamar if you would stop shooting at innocent people long enough. They will make their own opportunities and jobs if you and your thugs would just let them live! Opening a little rat hole in China and India is not going to make the life’s of people in the south any easier, it just means more money in the war lords pockets, and more holidays in the name of Somali.

*Blessed I purchased 15 all together from Syria, I gave them all away apart from one. Most was plain, because I don't like patterned ones, but the fit was beautiful and few simple patterns. Some I got as cheap as £5! Lool, My driver was the best haggler in the world, although he abused Allah's name.

Can I just add Serenity In recent times Businessmen (in particular) and locals have realised that their interest is in stability and a measure of law and order,( a change in mindset) before the US/Ethiopian invasion these ideas were becoming increasingly powerful and popular, one of the things that allowed the ICU to get support and funding. Moreover large-scale violence and warlordism had proven to be largely unsustainable in the long run and people had started to see the benefits of having in place peace and stability and that was not us helping them out by any means, so again your statement that they do not want to change their conditions is not supported. If nothing else the ICU time showed a relative resurgence in the role and social power of the "people" which as you know was also helpful in promoting reconstruction in Somaliland.

Hey Ms DD . Good to see you back sis. I need to check out that place before Eid...or maybe before summer. What are the prices like hoorta? I refuse to buy a Abayah for more than £15, as they are less £8 in Muslim countries. Unless they are out of this world and make me look absolutely fabulous, which I highly doubt.!

Kashafa Good ideas there and not a bad speech, and yes those are all little things you can do to do your part. Lily I think we shouldn't forget that a huge chunk of the Somali population lives on the kindess and genorosity of their brethen abroad who send them money every month. It was only last year I read that in Minneapolis alone $75 million was sent to Somalia over a 5 year period And what of the other junk, who is going to help them, it is true that those who have relatives abroad are able to survive and maybe even get away from the immediate conflict, but regardless of how hard people in the west work, we will never be able to sustain the whole population of the country, and their dependence could only continue for so long. Everyone deserves to make it on their own rather waiting on hand-outs. Often hand-out due to their dependency nature create the problem, as people just wait for their monthly bill rather than trying to think of innovative methods of earning a livelihood, or changing their life or becoming self sufficient even with the absence of conflict (Somaliland is a perfect example) with nearly 60% of the national income being remittance. Nomadique- I could not agree more Cara thanks, but I’m a firm believer that everyone has it them, some just need to dig deeper than others, and lord knows I had to dig deep!. Urban I don’t know what I will find for you, but I am looking and I’m confident there is something that you can do within your ability, when I find it I will send it your way inshalllah Lool @ Thierry Caamir Yes there is a significant difference. You have a problem with that? I’m not interested in your benefit of the doubt of anything. Serenity Ghamina, I think there comes a time when one has to evaluate their life and what they hope to get out of it. Unfortunately for some of us in the west, that path in life doesn't include spending humongous amount of time and energy in a country, where the daily reality doesn't effect us in the least, especially when one has to live their own life and have their own personal/family ambitions to fulfill, and the people who live there do not wish to be their own vanguards. when will you get my name right hortaa? So basically what you are saying is that, “I have far too much to cope with as it is, the happenings of Somalia does not affect my daily life at all and I have my own life to live and my own ambitions to reach” That in itself I have not problem with, you can have your life, and aim high for your dreams and ambitions, doing something for them does not mean you have to stop doing your own thing, sometimes it can mean simply succeeding in your life and helping other Somalis to achieve better and bigger things. But I do have a problem with the last bit, please take a look at the current situation and tell me that those people have the opportunity to be their own anything let alone vanguards? Most are on survival mode, and cannot see pass today and tomorrow because of all the daily reality they have to deal with. In most of the examples you cited, the people who the status quo effected directly became pioneers for change. There are people who have been trying to achieve change, make things better, build and rebuild, they have the ideas, I promise you there is not a shortage of ideas. They understand their environment and conditions far better than us, and they know what it takes to survive. What they lack is, the means to fulfil those ideas and possible practicality. On occasions or for the most part, the masses lack the people who will turn those ideas into reality. The people who sustain the status quo are those who are currently benefiting, they may have made a decision to keep things this way, but the masses are always one step behind, living in a condition created to keep them trapped. Its less motivating to do something for our people more than the monthly allowance we send back, simply because Somalis in the west have their own reality of life in the west to deal with. Firstly our realities in the west are not as challenging or as life threatening as the ones they face, nor can we draw such a comparison, furthermore I never said you had to stop doing what you are doing. The change does not necessarily have to be in Somalia. The same failures that are keeping Somalia underdeveloped and backwards are the very same reasons that the Somali communities in the diaspora are under performing and falling apart. Take a look at the condition of our community in Britain, show me how we have influenced or integrated into our new society? I would not even mind if we had a future here or shined as a community and are succeeding. For the most part we are not, we live in ghetto areas and hang off the fringe of society. We are fast to point out the failure of the Somalis back home who are struggling with the worse conditions ever, but what about the communities we live in, what makes us better, more successful (even with all the opportunities available to us) Where is our vanguard to help us cope with our own realities? Perhaps we can most benefit them by helping ourselves. What can one really do externally for people who don't buy humanity or reason? And whose greatest strength is reserved for bringing down all thats progressive? Come on! You know this is an inherent Somali quality. Really, Now you are just ranting, it is not a Somali “quality" (if it can be called that) and factually flawed, nor can you make such mass generalization about their humanity and reason. It is very unfair of you and unsound. Where Somalia is concerned, there is little Somalis in the west can do, unless they are willing to move lock stock and barrel and become part of reality on the ground. I've yet to see many volunteers on that front. But it seems a lot of people sleep better by convincing themselves they are ready to do something. If Somalis abroad helped themselves and achieved something as a community it is good enough. People in Somalia have coped and will continue to cope with their realities with or without our help. In any case the essence of a vanguard is to fill the current vacuum with practical ideas or help turn those ideas into reality (for Somalia or individual Somali communities around the world), which you can do from the relative safety and comfort of your home and without putting your life on hold or move lock stock and barrel. As for your last sentence, again seems like you are judging a pair of shoes with out trying them on,(you know they always look more comfortable than they actually are) for most, the thought keeps them awake in search for a solution or inspiration. Jimcaale That is a really good example actually. Thanks. All good things said about Somalis; they fall short on Amr bil-macruuf Wa-nah canil Munkar. Regardless the circumstance or place, qabiil takes precedence over the common good & welfare of the society and deen. Allah doesn't change people until they do. Some problems in Somalia, same divides in our host countries. We just imported all our differences and they are as prevalent as ever. In any case I guess for some of us, we have families, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters etc so it is very much a reality for some of us.

Let see if he can keep wearing the SNM gangs' flag when he arrives in the holy lands. He has a window opportunity to desert the rest of the gang and the delusional dream and present himself in Baidoba immediately after completing the Hajj and asking Allah’s forgiveness. I am sure he will be given a ministerial position and I am sure he has a very good shot to be elected the President of the federal government at 2009 presidential race. It might be a chance of lifetime for him..May Allah show him the right path.... Loooooooooooool, HAHAHa. This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all day! looool. HAHAHa hehe thanks for the laugh Immediately present himself at the right path! Hahaha. Qoosol baadanah.

The problem with writing long threads, is you have to be willing to follow it up. I was high (on sugar!) when I wrote all that, my god!. Blessed why the name change, what happened to Syria? And Oh thanks Don’t mind Ngonge, I expected nothing less from him. Ngonge, what is so dirty about being nice to Ghanima? I think it suits you, try it now, and then.! Farah Brown Lool, HAHA. That’s all kuulaah, I will ask Ngonge to give you a few sessions. Pujah Lool, well for you safety I hope you get your Ookiyaael soon. Urban I’m going to look around and send you something inshallah. Che and J11  seriously, you too are so miserable! And of course misery loves company JB you are always online, how can you not have time to read? I assume you read everything! Bob, Dabshid, Red Sea, Dhulqarnayn -alSumaale You are more than welcome. Val I think she gave you the wrong information my dear, I did not gang up on her with anyone. The two each went off on a rant and ignored me for two hrs, while they tried to reason with each other, every time I tried to speak, they cut me off, ieeyaaga uubaa iisuu muuqaade! But they were not listening to each other so each one was sulking after. P.s. can you be a little positive Khaina Right on, the kind of response I was hoping for, and don’t worry everyone takes a break from madness, but do let us know when you are back. Nephy Yes, I understand and I fully agree that “Silence means acceptance” both of their rule and their actions. That is the idea, now send the idea into the masses, what methods to use to get the message there does not matter, it just matters that it gets there…soon. Serenity and Jimcaale I will write you a response when I feel cheerful and my brain is working.

Salam all. This thread was inspired by a conversation I had with Serenity last Friday and Canno Geel and an exchange between me and Dhulqarnayn -alSumaale. But I dedicate this thread to RED SEA and everyone who expressed their disappointment and depression in his thread. I know it is long, but consider How much I post on SOL, just don’t read any of my other threads for a week to compensate You see, you will always get dishearten if you look at the events back home, you will see how we have been systematically destroyed our whole country, how we continue to oppress and kill each other, it is depressing and at one point or another you will think why do I bother, this is pointless, I’m wasting my time, I’m wasting my energy, forget it, there is no way the few individuals who see things my way will or can make a difference. But then we often forget some important lessons history has taught us: Change is not made by the masses, so everyone need not agree. Vanguard is always the few, tucked away within the masses. They are the ones who do not quite agree with the status quo, and yet feel they also want to do more and find they cannot sit and allow the status quo to continue. They are looking to make a change; they are agitated like iron fillings are upon sensing a magnet. Yet they have no way of their own to follow, they stay in a state of unease waiting for an opportunity. They are waiting for a message, and often unknown even to themselves are never at ease until their destiny is fulfilled. In the history of mankind all reform and change for good or evil is because of small groups of men or women (“Vanguards”) From the dawn of time to the present day vanguards have led mankind. Who are the neo-conservatives? Are they the entire western world? Are they even all of the American people, are they even the entire American establishment, of course not. They are a small group of men and women who have destroyed other nations “Vanguards”. I know some of you are probably thinking what about revolutions or the Palestine intifada, but even those were prepared, there was nothing simultaneous about them, the masses did not just all react in at once, and if anyone wish’s I will present my evidence in this respect. Look back in history and you will see these vanguards, creating, leading and sustaining every single movement on earth including our own – Islam. The Prophet PBUH started with a small band of men, and women. These were the vanguards that fought the masses “Quresh” and spread the message of Allah and made it triumphant, we only have to look at the world to assess their success. Lets looks at the Russian revolution, the communists again were a vanguard, The suffragettes were a small band of women, who fought for the right for women to vote in Britain. Did all women fight? Did all women agree with the suffragettes? Of course not! From animal rights to the greatest movements of the world, all have been delivered by small bands of men and never by the masses. The masses will always follow a small hardcore vanguard. It is the nature of man. What I’m getting at you ask? The problem lies with expecting everyone to agree with your view, or expecting that upon seeing the mess Somalia is in, everyone will automatically get up and hasten to make a change: No that will never happen, so don’t be dishearten when you look at the mess back home, look and cling to the few who are trying to do good, focus you energy on making a difference with them. Somalia is in dire need of a new vanguard, the old vanguard (the Culamaa and Ooodyaal have all passed away or run away from Somalia) leaving the worse of our society, the bullies, the murders, the criminals to subjugate the masses (who are the maskeen, the powerless, the women and children, the poor). Furthermore these vanguards have pacified our diaspora community with idle chatter and internal politics, confusing the potential, while the rest (the good and mainly young) have given up on Somalia altogether. So what do we need to do? We know that other vanguards before us have been created and exist today, we know the current vanguard in Somalia are detrimental to the overall well being of Somali people. We just need to find how to challenge them and reverse the pacification of future young Somali’s who will become vanguards. That is a hard task I know, but understand that some vanguards have been tested, failed and blown away in the winds of history, never even to be remembered. Others had intended good, but when they reached the top was sucked in by the institutionalised deep rooted problems (this is evident in Somali possible potential good Somali politicians, who have failed to make a difference) but you must at least try. So No I don’t have any solutions, but I understand that as a young generation we need to be pioneering to make changes, even more we need to understand that we will face opposition, If one cannot handle the difficulty of opposition then one is doomed to failure. No vanguard has ever been successful since the dawn of time, which has not overcome opposition and fought it alone with little or no help, we are no different. Some of you maybe surprised to know that Malcolm X faced opposition when he fought for justice, not by the white community who were bound to hate him, but buy his own. Read his autobiography, and he leaves his most scathing attacks for his own brainwashed black brothers. No vanguard has ever changed anything without a fight, often to the death or the doors of prison. Nelson Mandela spent 20 years in prison, the anti apartheid movement were jailed and tortured, the suffragettes were jailed and attacked and vilified by the press, fathers for justice where sent to prison recently, Muhammad Ali Jinnah was attacked, Afghani was exiled after some jealous ullema demanded he leave the country. What happened to the Prophets PBUH who brought change to the people? They were killed or their own people tried to kill them. They were hated by all except the vanguard that surrounded them. But they were true and stood firm for truth despite all opposition. The Prophet PBUH was vilified, spat at, and harassed, did they not humiliate him, attack him, plotted against him, they killed and torture his vanguard. But they did not flee from the truth, did they abandon their faith, nor did they soften or dilute their message? The truth is the truth. It stands out clear from falsehood. Currently injustice is injustice and it is glaring in front of our eyes. I hope you get the gist of my message. That as individuals we need to be stronger and never give up, the hardest task you will face is your own soul. Some of us have been blessed, have been born and raised outside of the conflict, others run out with painful memories, some don’t remember much, others remember the good times, but we are all blessed to be outside of the current situation, however this should not make it easier for us to give up, to push them out of our mind, to thrown £10 at the mosque collection and then think yes I’ve done my part. We need to find our new Vanguard. Excuse the spelling, grammatical error, it was on the spot post/ rant. P.s. Now I understand why Oodweeny uses highlights,
