Originally posted by BiLaaL: SOLers, i suspect something more sinister in this thread. In this day and age, we cannot afford to be naive - like it or not SOL has become a nesting place for all kinds of folks trying to gather information about our community. Sometimes for noble purposes but other times for ill. And NO, i'm not being delusional. Although I normally post in the Politics section, i'm a logical fellow. Norf can attest to this (you'll back me up won't you Norf ) Be patient with me for a moment and i'll explain why we need to be more sceptical about this fellow. I'll address some of the points in his/her latest reply. Somali09, your confused reply alludes to a number of points. 1. That you're not Somali. 2. That your understanding of what atheism actually stands for is flawed (since your understanding of the concept is flawed, would it be fair to assume that you're simply pretending to be one?). 3. The above two points lead me to conclude that you have an ulterior motive - possibly related to gauging the number of members on this forum with 'fundamentalist' Islamic views. Your topic selection and the fact you paid particular attention to the only reply pertaining to hudud, goes some way in revealing what your initial intentions may have been. quote: Originally posted by Somali09: YES i am somalian The correct term is 'Somali'. It is implausible that a true Somali would get this wrong. It is just a belief in the non-existance of any super natural force. To me, also humanism: ""Humanism is a democratic and ethical life stance, which affirms that human beings have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives". Atheism and Humanism aren't comparable. They stand and argue for two distinct causes. Your borrowed definition of Humanism is correct. Where you err is in trying to link the two. Simply put, the humanist does not place much value on the existence or otherwise of God - it is simply irrelevant. Whereas non belief in God is central to Atheism. The assertion put forth in the second point which i raised above gains traction given your inability to properly explain the concept. I will reiterate, I have no problem with religion - you believe in what you want and I will do the same. Its a matter of FAITH. I believe in evidence and quite content with natural & scientific explanation. To me a belief in something in the face of invalidating evidence is an illusion. Again you're either being haphazard with your use of language or you simply do not know. Atheists themselves argue against the idea that atheism is a faith. Faith is to accept something as being true without having all the evidence (referred to as Ghaib , in Islam). I could go on but i'll stop here. To SOLers, I believe that this member is neither Somali nor Atheist. It is more plausible that he/she is an agent from one of the security agencies. Lookout for more 'controversial' topics (mainly centered around Islam) from this member. And with that in mind, I urge you all to be more sceptical and exercise more caution. Whatever you do, do not engage in a private conversation with such members. We are a community of brothers and sisters here. I think we ought to look out for one another. Somali09, if your aim is what I suspect it to be, it would pay to do some research. I never agree with Billa, but on this I do. Beware of Somalia09

^^^You don't know what your kids will be like, but in the meantime congrats to you and your brothers/ sisters, really, but the fact that you have "achieved" more than some does not mean you should take a full time job mocking others. Now that you have told us about you and your family and we have said Mashallah, maybe you would like to move out of our face with you rants. Your kids have a 50-50 chance of becoming a school drop out/ a junkie or a successful individual, and not all of your kids will be successes. Hold your horses. You failed to read and understand what anyone said to you on here, because again you are drawing comparison where there is none! What did you study in university? It might explain why you refuse to accept that there are multiple variables in any given study, and the whole issue of the black market which Juxa has mentioned. Baal read and comprehend what other nomads say to you, miisa waa ciid kale maaxaba maa taaqano aniga mooyan eh!

Ibtisam, well the people in cardiff wales are not refugees but are indeed economic migrants. Remember these people came to the u.k 100 years ago!!! during the time of british colonialists in somalia!!! They had excellent educational levels because colonials were ruling somalia!!! and they didn't migrate due to economic hardship in somalia but migrated because they were sailors and navy workers!!! Again you are wrong, although Somalis landed in Cardiff as far back as 1870, they were sailors, typical male, alone who settled in these areas. Despite these colonial roots, the bulk of the community is relatively young, having arrived between 1988-1990 flee prosecution and the collapsing state. Often consisting of families joining sailors, female domestic workers, university students and political exiles. Therefore your argument that they had excellent education is a lie and not a crediable one at that, since when was a sailor educated??? And since when were families joining sailors considered as economic migrants, do I need to ask about the political exiles?? Even the university students came for a purpose. So i don't know where u get this idea that they are refugees due to the civil war. Infact their other reports that suggests refugees from the civil war employment wise is doing alot better then the cardiff oldest somali community!!! Are you telling me facts or you making things up again? Which study and where? So please don't attack the report because you don't like the facts that cardiff somalis are useless. You need to acknowledge their is serious problem that needs be addressed. I have no problems with reports, aside from it having major short comings, it can still be used for improving our community, I was objecting to your ranting. Lastly 1 in 6 households has 1 person not working. Lets say that is true for argument sake. the average household is 4 people. 1 in 6 families is 0.16% and then you need to divide that by 4..That is 0.4% unemployed brits. That is if what you said is true, which you failed to provide any evidence for!! 0.4% is alot better then 95%, i am sure any reasonable person would agree, however you are not reasonable and even call it "propaganda"!!!! You misunderstood, out of six households, one of them will not have a breadwinner- i.e. the whole family is unemployed. cajiib!!! where are your priorities for goodness sakes!! wake up cardif somalis are useless and unproductive community and they need to be deported. Where should they should be deported? well deport them back to somalia where they come from because according to university journals somalia unemployment rate is 47% which is alot better then 95% at cardiff. Again radiclous assertation and even worse suggestions You can verify that somalia unemployment level is 47% here. I'll even be nice enough and quote it for you because i think you have literacy problem also and if you are from cardiff well then that explains your level of ********* and i am not suprised in the least!!!! Farrid baad tahey, and with a little direction even smart, and yes I do have a literacy problem; I am allergic to bullshid literacy, I like academic literature though, so extra points of you quote some for me

I got into work late 10am, then worked like a crazy women till now. Fasting means I get things done more quickly, no tea, chocolate, drink, water, crisp breaks, have not even left my chair other than to do wudu a little while ago. I should try fasting more often, could cut my days work short!.

^^^Dude, what I am trying to tell you is that the success of the 2nd and 3rd (they have not reach 4th generation as yet) cannot be judge now because they are still young. Also the comparison with the other communities such as the Asians and Italians is void, because they had different economical, social and political backgrounds as well as educational levels, which allowed them to adjust much faster. You cannot compare refugees and economic migrants and expect the same level of productivity. The rest of your rant is propaganda. Incidentally this study is also flawed because it was carried out during recession, with highest level of unemployment across country, even in London, did you know that in every 6 households, one of them does not have a single person working. Where should we deport these people to??
-
Not helpful study, because it is based on all Somalis in Wales, rather than the number of eligible/ potential workers who are not working. For example up to 60% of the Somali population is likely to be too old (all the sailors and seamen) or too young, under 18years old. Somalis in London for example are more likely to be a lot younger (but not too young) and able to work. Unemployed also includes all the students, who despite being unemployed, are doing something worthwhile with their time. There is no point mentioning those with young children who cannot work or the disabled. But basically the study makes mass generalization. Good project though, I heard Cardiff has lots of youngesters below 25ish who could use a little direction.

^^^Because the sister said: religous, HANDSOME, educated, family guy, and has a good job to support her Maybe about 5 guys on SOL pass that check and 4 of them are married, the other one is nearly married. BORN_BRANIAC, you might want to add "Single" on that list. Also I agree with Juxa, if you must fix her up, pick for her in the same manner that you would pick yourself a husband (whatever way that might be), or pick someone that you can vouch for in personality and their quality. I presume you have tests in place and long term observation to ensure only normal guys who really meet that criterion get to the finish line. Good luck to you and your friend, May Allah give her that which is best for her in this life and hereafter.
