  1. Abbaas, also, image in af soomaali is hummaag. Sawir means picture which is not quite the same as image.
  2. Abbas, I don't think jawaab means comment. Also, 'jawaabaha waa ineey ugu yaraan 2 xarfo ka koobnaadaan' doesn't seem right. Shouldn't it be '..2 xaraf...'? I don't think you're supposed to make the noun(?) xaraf a plural in this case e.g. 2 wiil, shan maalin, toban gaari etc.

Do you know that this is just one opinion of the scholars when it comes to differences of opinion in fiqh? Did you know that another opinion is that the Muslim should follow the easier of the options due to Allah's saying "Allah wants ease for you, not hardship"? (or something along those lines, I can't remember where exactly the ayah is). Did yo also know that another opinion is that if the person is knowledgeable enough he/she should read the proofs presented and follow the one he feels to be the truth?

Heck, Sisi has fatwas telling him that all ikhawanis are kuffar and can be killed. Heh! Don't you know dictators can nowadays purchase a juicy fatwa from a willing pseudo-sheikh?
  5. I remember the day they started protested and me thinking this will not end well. It seems I'm about to be vindicated.
  6. Tallaabo, as a Somali of all the people in the world you should know that a bad government is better than no government. I'd prefer Assad to an Iraq scenario.

What about the millions of Muslims in the Western world who have access to the best education and research facilities? The difference between the Chinese and the Muslims is that, the Chinese have started a serious campaign to catch up with the West in terms of scientific and technological achievement. Just within the last decade or so the number of published research and patents filed by Chinese born scholars increased many fold and is set to continue in that trajectory. Also nowadays in every top rated university or laboratory in any country you will not fail to find a Chinese scholar or student doing cutting edge science or mathematics. You see that's the difference between these Muslims and the early Muslims. They understood the importance of secular knowledge (obviously after religious knowledge) so one of the first things they did was translate hundreds upon hundreds of greek and roman texts into Arabic to make them accessible. The caliphs then built houses of wisdom and libraries to foster the growth of homeborn knowledge and we all know the results today. Also, you might see some of Muslims and non-muslims nowadays making out as if Islam and secular education is incompatible (excluding obvious kufr like Darwanism) but they fail realise many Islamic scholars of the past were scientific intellectuals.
  8. Naxar, well there at least needs to be some skill involved.
  9. ^^^You've got to be kidding me. People pay to see that and call it art? My nephew can make something better LOOOOL :D

  11. They are paper which can be changed. This is the name of an area which will go down in the annals of history. It is imperative that the name be in Somali. Besides, just because one this is wrong, doesn't justify something else being wrong as well.

  13. STOIC;974884 wrote: You find him informative? Well I guess I will honorably disagree..He openly backbites people under the guise of guiding/correcting them..Now my Islamic education is very limited, but something tells me that is not how people of religion should preach.... He is merely showing them up on their bid'ah and misguidance which is considered Jihaad. Here are quotes from the salaf backing me up: Ibn Taymiyyah: "The one who refutes the innovators is a mujaahid. al-Jawaab as-Saheeh of Ibn Taymiyyah (1/237) As for is it backbiting? Well the answer is no according to the scholars: Al-Hasan Al-Basree (rahimahullaah) said: "There is no backbiting with regard to (talking about) the innovator or the sinner who openly professes his evil." Al-Laalikaa`ee (1/140, no: 279) As for having difficulty within oneself about critisizing innovators, here is what Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal said: "When some people said to Imaam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal (rahimahullaah) that they felt uneasy about criticizing people, he replied, 'If you remain silent and I remain silent, then who will make the ignorant person aware of the authentic from the defective?'" Majmoo'-ul-Fataawaa of Ibn Taimiyyah (28/231)
  14. ^^I've listened to his lectures and I found them very informative. You see we all know Islam will split into 73 sects, all in the hellfire except one. So the question arises, who is that one? How does the average muslim know which one? What does the Muslim do to become part of this saved sect? Knowing this is part of the "basics" hence why Abu Khadeejah goes to lengths to explain it for the average Muslim in the west with minimal religious education.

  16. The Ron Muek ones aren't art, there that useless eye sores modern artists try to con people with. I remember there was this musuem once on the news with completely blank canvases on display, claiming it was "art".
  17. I'm really happy with the name change. Maamulka Jubba sounds much better than the rubbish Jubbaland. Inshallah khayr.
  18. Federalism won't get rid of Somalia's main problem: lack of reconciliation and trust between 2 clans that dominate the country's politics. If these two agree on peace, the rest of the issues will disappear. If they don't agree on peace, everyone is better off going their separate way. It's about time Somalis told each other the truth and this is it in its purest form.
  19. @MMA, Adi intaad cawdubilleysiga naga dhaaftid, ninkaas diinteena habeen iyo maalin aflagaadaynayo maad naga qabatid? Cambuulo, waxaan filayaa cilmiga ayaa kugu yar sidaas awgeed waa laguu marmarsiyooni. Have you ever heard of a man called Sayid Qutb? That man in the father of the modern day terrorists. Stoic, I don't get why people get so worked up when it comes to salafis. All they say is let's go back to the basics, the qur'an and sunnah upon the understanding of the pious predecessors. If you find a fault with them, bring proof from the qur'an and sunnah to show it's wrong.
  20. He looks uncannily like my old macalin dugsi.
  21. What the hell is wrong with this Cambuulo fella? Waryaa salafi=/=takfiri. They are mutually exclusive. PS: This H-Brute athiest is seriously getting annoying now. I thought one of the rules of this site was no insulting Islam. What do the moderators and admin do if they can't enforce even this? This site is becoming a joke.

  24. ^No probs sxb. I just read on a USAID report that 40-50 million shillings ($635,000-$793,00) exchanges hands in the Garissa livestock market every week. That's an astonishing amount for such a poor area.
  25. ^ No probs sxb. About the educational attainment, I personally don't think there's much difference and if there is it's probably due to the fact we haven't suffered from civil wars and displacement in recent history Alhamdulilah. As for the electricity, I don't know how much it costs per kwh but it's pretty cheap as the average worker in town with a cafe or watchman can afford it. In other words, it's waaaaaay cheaper than Somalia's. Currently the electricity is provided by an offgrid plant that runs on generators. However, there's a project currently ongoing to connect Garissa to the Kenyan national grid: http://www.ketraco.co.ke/opencms/export/sites/ketraco/projects/downloads/kindaruma_mwingi_garissa/ESIA_Report_KPLC_132kV_TL_Kindaruma-Mwingi-Garissa.pdf When complete, electricity should be more reliable and cheaper.
