My first ‘fast’ must have been when I was 9 and my sister who was also fasting for her first time was 8. I remember feeling really hungry half way through the day, sneaking into the kitchen to have a quick cheese sandwich and a glass of water. My sister kept complaining how hungry she was, and my mum was like, 'look at your sister who is also fasting, not a single complaint, not even a peep, isku xishoo'. Ha ha aha, poor kid. I can't recall my first real fast.

They died for their crime, it's not exactly a celebration.

I see many Somali girls in their late teens to early 20s who look like they have just discovered make up, and a lot of them do it so well it's scary. I’m with Naomi B, I don't think it hurts to look a little refreshed and feminine, by that I mean simple make up, like eye liner and lip-gloss not full on facial do.

Yes but they wont protect you from wild animals North.
-
I predict a search for 'lost Faraxs ' once you've all set off, and your respective tribes will donate money to find 'wiilashoodi' who thought they were brave warriors but were really eaten by wild dogs.Stick to your cities and your lattes... North, at least you're practising.

Dahia, I think Ngonge will hire you as his VIP Security for trips to Africa & beyond

That's if you wear make up everyday. God bless eyeliner and vaseline.

CC, like Pucca said you can wear perfume dear as long as you're not giving free advertisement for the scent. Don't give a second thought to those men who get pleasure from screaming NO! as if they are smashing you with the Word of God. Can a Muslim woman be left in peace for 5 mins without the whole world deciding on her fate?

"women are unhappier than men" I wonder who is to blame for this? I read something similar about people in general, that they expect to be happy at all times, if they feel down or upset they should rush to their GP for Prozac or to their nearest psychiatric ward for treatment. Any unpleasant emotion has been neatly categorized as a potential mental illness which is simply not true. As for the article, "The study found that women feel they have too many choices …which adds to their feelings of sadness" Total Rubbish! It's because you are told you should be a well dressed, smiling, model look alike, executive of a billion dollar empire, ginger man baking mother of two, who when she isn't on romantic get aways with her hubby likes to fill her 'spare' time with charity and...who are they kidding! You're only one woman and you can only do so much. Prioritising what's important to you and what can be accomplished realistically without a nervous breakdown seems an obtainable goal. The same can be said about men.
