  1. Denovo, it seems a good way of knowing without having to rely on the naked eye. Dabshid, is it maghrib already? I don't think so, so how can you know? I took tmwr off just in case, but would be just as happy with a Saturday Eid.
  2. Menus are a constant favourite, with restaurants, eager for business, working hard – too hard – on their descriptions Going to Somali restaurants can be equally as fun, e.g. ‘Digaag si fiican loo habeeyay’ bal six un ma loo sameyn lahay ?
  3. What an empty Bimbo! Hope that wakes her up. Originally posted by Cara: There goes Plan B  loll Cara.
  4. LoL@so habar…leave our little old lady alone. Sheh I'm so jealous! Never really considered having it tailored. I don't know, but when you do find THAT amazing winter skirt that goes with a lot of things in your wardrobe it's a moment of intense happiness for sure.
  5. Ghanima, I don't actually shop in M&S, my friends do so I thought I would mention it. It's a shame, if only the didn't support the Israeli state. Too bad. Dahia, the skirt has to be almost long, not below the knee, and watch out for the fitted jackets too. We're all guilty of them but there are degrees of fitted, I'm sure you'll agree!
  6. Serenity, a good winter skirt will be more expensive and more elusive to find than a summer skirt. Try Principles, John Rocha at Debenhams, Per Una in Marks and Spencer. Occasionally you might find one in Wallis. Monsoon, Jigsaw and Whistle are pricier but they will certainly have skirts. Either way you will have to be prepared to look for one, which itself can be time consuming. Dahia, there are below the knee and there are calf length .
  7. Sheh, the abundance of skirts in Dubai is amazing, the only problem I found with them was that they were ridiculesy long, even tall people will find them long. I didn't think UAE women were particualry very tall, must be the heels and the desire to sweep the floor after you.
  8. ^Perhaps it's the weight of sins removed
  9. ^LoL, no it wasn't that bad, it had just been a very long day and I was determined to go. Well worth it.
  10. Originally posted by Ms Dhucdhuc & Dheylo: What did you guys think about last nights' taraweeh? Last night was the khatam and beautiful dua followed. Miss D&D the du'a was amazing albeit very very long, I'm certain it was a good half hour if not longer, and at the end of like an hour and 40 mins of salat. I nearly passed out, thought of sitting down many times but all the little old ladies were still standing, so waan isku xishoode and remained standing. Masha Allah the little ladies are tough. The prayers were good as always. Many people stayed behind and there were Islamic lectures, food & dink etc. I went home though.
  11. I would be offended if I were them...come on it's not that bad, it's ok to be annoyed because you don't get it . All in all, you don't have to read it.
  12. Ciid Wanagsaan all and enjoy the last few days of this blessed Ramadan. Originally posted by umu zakaria: Ciid mubarak. ciidaan ciideeda adinkoo caafimaad qaboo cibaadaystay, ciyaal badan haysta oo wada cayilay Um, I never knew what came after ciida ciida, perfect plan for a speedy demise...very funny.
  13. 'Desirable' is a relative word. I see humour in it evry time I log on that goes beyond the standard 'ha ha ha'.
  14. I don't see what the big deal is, you two (Dahia & Ghanima) could both benefit from extending your Somali vocabulary, I for one like it...

We’re lacking the basics; we need to build on that. I beg to differ, if anyone can succeed in what they are passionate about then well done to them, weather that be football, painting, acting, art etc. God knows when Somalia will be in a fit state to benefit anyone again, certainly not in the near future. Even Somalia needs entertainers and sportsmen/women. So many kids are already taking up 'serious' careers.
  16. Two and a half hours later, when the placenta came out, Eric cut me off a small piece to eat; the mild taste was surprising   Wtf? Psycho, she got lucky.
  17. Miss D&D everyone who works is pretty much in the same boat.
  18. Nomadique, after reading the Food topics, I've already mentally imagined the SOLers most likely to die of heart attack/diabetes/high blood pressure and stroke. Now, we don't want to add you to that list do we? Having said that, it does sound cool to be eating fried ice cream.
  19. Are you serious? And what does that taste like?
  20. lol North, the food mania of SOL amazes me.
  21. Neph lol, woo jiitey is just as bad. I don't find this topic humerous anymore. We've had 2 tacsi on SOL if you haven't noticed ppl. Suddenly death has become very serious.
  22. Yes indeed Dahia, but you know what I mean, the spirit of Ramadan is always special.
  23. It's quiet sad that there are only a few days of Ramadan left. May Allah give us another chance next year.
