Convention of those wounded in love General provisions: A – Whereas the saying “all is fair in love and war” is absolutely correct; B – Whereas for war we have the Geneva Convention, approved on 22 August 1864, which provides for those wounded in the battle field, but until now no convention has been signed concerning those wounded in love, who are far greater in number; It is hereby decreed that: Article 1 – All lovers, of any sex, are alerted that love, besides being a blessing, is also something extremely dangerous, unpredictable and capable of causing serious damage. Consequently, anyone planning to love should be aware that they are exposing their body and soul to various types of wounds, and that they shall not be able to blame their partner at any moment, since the risk is the same for both. Article 2 – Once struck by a stray arrow fired from Cupid’s bow, they should immediately ask the archer to shoot the same arrow in the opposite direction, so as not to be afflicted by the wound known as “unrequited love”. Should Cupid refuse to perform such a gesture, the Convention now being promulgated demands that the wounded partner remove the arrow from his/her heart and throw it in the garbage. In order to guarantee this, those concerned should avoid telephone calls, messages over the Internet, sending flowers that are always returned, or each and every means of seduction, since these may yield results in the short run but always end up wrong after a while. The Convention decrees that the wounded person should immediately seek the company of other people and try to control the obsessive thought: “this person is worth fighting for”. Article 3 – If the wound is caused by third parties, in other words if the loved one has become interested in someone not in the script previously drafted, vengeance is expressly forbidden. In this case, it is allowed to use tears until the eyes dry up, to punch walls or pillows, to insult the ex-partner in conversations with friends, to allege his/her complete lack of taste, but without offending their honor. The Convention determines that the rule contained in Article 2 be applied: seek the company of other persons, preferably in places different from those frequented by the other party. Article 4 – In the case of light wounds, herein classified as small treacheries, fulminating passions that are short-lived, passing sexual disinterest, the medicine called Pardon should be applied generously and quickly. Once this medicine has been applied, one should never reconsider one's decision, not even once, and the theme must be completely forgotten and never used as an argument in a fight or in a moment of hatred. Article 5 – In all definitive wounds, also known as “breaking up”, the only medicine capable of having an effect is called Time. It is no use seeking consolation from fortune-tellers (who always say that the lost lover will return), romantic books (which always have a happy ending), soap-operas on the television or other such things. One should suffer intensely, completely avoiding drugs, tranquilizers and praying to saints. Alcohol is only tolerated if kept to a maximum of two glasses of wine a day. Final determination: Those wounded in love, unlike those wounded in armed conflict, are neither victims nor torturers. They chose something that is part of life, and so they have to accept both the agony and the ecstasy of their choice. And those who have never been wounded in love will never be able to say: “I have lived”. Because they haven’t. Ibti, it's about inticipating their silly questions and having an equally more ridicules answer prepared for them. I was only ever totally thrown once in an inteview

Stop taking piss out of the sweet language you punks. That aside who died & who is alive? I have perfected the art of bluffing, as in not lying but organising complex jargon in good sentence structures to appear well knowledgeable, interviews are easy.

Intuition, I was having my lunch and reading what was in that days Guardian, it made me feel strange...although I can't pinpoint the exact emotion. That woman who said now she realized she had cancer & for the first time in her life she really wanted to live. That's just tragic. It was interesting how these ppl were visited by their loved ones but they would talk about general things but not death.
-
Well, playing violent games and watching violent movies doesn't help either. Surely, they would know that a knife is serious business though? Chilling indeed.

Hello trolls...you guys have been busy Ibti, don't give up running, once you convince your brain that your lungs are not really burning and they're not going to give way you will do fine. It's because the surface is not always even you have to work a lot harder than the treadmill, there is also the freedom of the road and not being forced to watch the sweaty guy/woman in front of you.

People don't want to face death because they think it's the end. There was an article about an exhibition of photos portraying people before and after they had died, mainly taken at hospice. It's about people's fear of death. I can't decide if it's interesting or morbid. They look so peaceful though. Before & After

Yeah but before I used to be depressed by the posters whose lack of humanity just shocked me, but now it's just the situation, and I like to know what's happening now and then. Even if it's really bad.
-
I'm not really interested in who is to blame, even when it's obvious, I just wish the suffering, despair and the degradation of life would just end.
-
LoL@pole dancing, you go girl SS I think dance classes are definitely fun. Swimming & soon to be joined by running are top on my list. Pilates sounds good as well, but it's always on in the mornings when I'm at work so I can never join.

^^^Well done Ibti. I was having a good day till I walked into the Politics section, now I'm depressed

Good: not sure Bad: it's very dull. Msn is way friendlier to keep in touch with friends and family, if telephone and face to face fails.

Paci, likewise, check your hotmail account if you haven't already

Independence, the act of being self reliant, does not necessarily equate to living alone and can also be a state of mind & behaviour. Zakina, you should know by now that Somali sayings towards women are mostly misogynist comments.

She's coming here for good Malika, and that's the best bit. It's not her first time to Europe, she came 15 years ago, but went back.
-
She's been in Kenya for the last year, so from Nairobi.

I just found out my grandmother got the visa to come to London, I'm so happy I could burst. I want to scream and run around this office but it's so quiet here. I'm about to simply just fly away with happiness, I haven't seen her in 15 years and suddenly she is coming to London, maybe as soon as next week. Alhmdl. I'm so grateful!

Blessed, I have Half of the Yellow Sun, still to finish it. I used to get through a book and a half a week, now it takes me a month to get through one book , just can't concentrate, thanks to my job which involves a lot of reading. I didn't read The Kite Runner, it annoys me when books get too bestseller/mainstream, call me a snob ...but A Thousand Splendid Suns was really good, I found the domestic violence & conspiracy against women deeply disturbing though.

I think there are a few related ppl around. None to me though, thank God

Malika, do you know if you can get a visa for the US at the airport or do you need to apply for it? Website isn't clear. As for NY, try lastmin.com, although 7 hours flight each way is a little exhausting for a weekend.
