  1. LoooL@JB, what type of soap do you intend to use? I mean what flavour?
  2. So it looks like everywhere but London is sunny & warm. Nuune, gut. Was machst Du noch in Dublin? Kein Afrika dieses Jahr?
  3. So sleepy, never again a big lunch 28? Are you kidding me?
  4. Hey Ibti, hey all. p.s. Nuune is part time wadaad.
  5. The misogynist whiff from him was very assaulting, good riddance to him.
  6. I agree with most of the stuff Rahima said. Sure there are bad mothers but the vast majority are trying to hold it all together. Lazie, in regards to being an emotional absent parent, may that just be a cultural thing? Weren’t a lot of parents raised to not show too much affection to their children? Especially boys? Besides, a mother can do a lot for her son but to teach him to be a man is not one of them. Furthermore, things like talking to your children is something that has to be established from a young age, not suddenly when your child hits 15, agian, from my observations it seemed the norm to ignore kids. Things are changing but it won't happen overnight. Dabshid, even if you are chased away from home, you still have to take part in the up bringing of your kids, being informed about their education, their whereabouts etc. Allahu Akbar, just because you are divorced does not mean you cannot be a part of your child’s life. That is a weak excuse.
  7. Something about the constant stars, the moving moon, more stars, hiding and ambushing? Hut houses? Getting one’s own back? No clue! Usually in poetry when you’re looking for meaning it’s not what the word means but the connotations that are attached to that word since space is very limited in poems. Hadi adiguba laguu turjumay what hope do we have?
  8. A&T, there are some words I've never heard in my life in your stanza Mariiqiyo/ Socotodiisi/Diririkii/Gaad.
  9. Malika, I think in our religion if it was an accident you pay out to the family of the deceased? Obviously if it was cold blooded then he deserves what he gets. I find it hard to say an eye for an eye, even for a killer unless he is a child abuser then my mercy has limits. p.s. Alfa, I know its no laughing matter but the below had me in stitches! The use of Somali of course not the meaning. Originally posted by Alfa: dad ayeey soo qararamsadeen halkaa
  10. LoooL DD, wa kii tolka gacan sii waye, hala daba galo miya? Well if it was an accident/he was high therefore his judgment was impaired then I guess the victim's family can be compensated? He should be made to suffer for a bit though.
  11. Stoic LooooL? Are you called Ibtisam? Fail! Is it just me or is there a noble obsession with Ibti’s Somali? Edit: CL, what is he doing there?
  12. Ibti great, it's Friday, bit too hyper for my liking. I know people will call this blasphemous but I’m not a great fan of Arabic. I would only ever learn it if it furthered my religious knowledge somehow. Speaking multiple languages is not a big deal, we’re all ex-refugees, hardly anything to shout about.
  13. I would rather perfect my Somali than learn Arabic.
  14. Cl, I agree, parents have to be quiet specific, certain body parts are No go area. I can understand how parents might find this uncomfortable. I'm afraid keeping an eye on your kids and ruining a bit of their innocence to protect them is necessary, besides, kids know a lot more than we think these days. My 3 year old nephew is as smart as a 5 year old. The sad truth is there is only so much parents can do, I guess paranoia and keeping your kids close will have to do.
  15. ^^That is what I meant. They wont fully understand but 'This is not allowed' they will remember.
  16. If they killed/gave life sentence to every child molester who was tried in a court then children would really be safe. p.s. CL, parents would do better to tell their kids what child abuse is and to speak up against adults who attempt to handle them in such a manner, explaining threats those adults may make etc. It’s not always convicted criminals who molest.
  17. Oo ma wali aa tac-tacdi wadiin?
  18. LoooooL@ Cabdiyo, classic Somali advice! Gello (very feminine name by the way) I suggest you use your extra energy to find new job ASAP.
  19. Warmonger, poverty is not an excuse for low levels of cleanliness. Are you saying a poor person cannot keep clean? You usually don’t need money to keep your front yard clean. The Islamic character, as observed by our beloved Prophet (s.a.w.) is of uttermost importance. Ultimately is it not our character that we are judged on? If you are not giving others their due rights (pushing in the que in front of others who were there before you), what does that say about you? Similarly, I was under the impression that the environment was entrusted to humans by God, it does not belong to us and should be treated with respect & care. Replacing the significant with the insignificant is a serious slip towards ignorance. p.s. Nephy that sounds awful!

    The RIGHT Age!

12-14 is a good age to start experimenting with cooking. I suggest you train your boys too. The way the wind is blowing you don’t want them at your house with their black bags. You think you might be sparing them but sooner or later they will be running around cracking up meals for a woman who calls them ‘honey/darling etc’, they might as well serve their parents. Kids who don’t have chores as children become irresponsible adults. I learned most stuff chatting to my mum after school (late middle school/high school) and she used to say cut this up, add this, pass that etc. I can’t honestly recall making any food before I was 12. Washing up and so on was like 9-10. I made my first tea at 11. Abo was well proud…unfortunately I developed a reputation making great tea, so I had to resort to putting too much sugar in my teens to put people off. p.s. Dad badan aa child services logu yeeri doona!
  21. Malika, I think the same freedoms that allow women to take up careers as glamour models will obstruct other women taking up 'demeaning womankind' cases up against them. Like Ibti said, demand/supply. A man that can be my grandfather called me ‘walal’ the other day asking for directions. I gave him a stern look and said Adeer it is that way. The nerve, how dare he call me walal like we are on par? p.s. DD, cosmopolitan is obsessed with naked men.
  22. I call that conscious-sleep, being asleep and aware of it but still thinking. I can’t explain it but it is definitely annoying & leaves you tired. Focus on upcoming holiday, should motivate. I'm off now.
  23. It's just that I woke up at the crack of dawn so it feels like it should be 8 pm or smt. Well, if everyone is going to wear dress, would be nice to stand out and wear stunning dirac.
  24. This is the longest day ever, must-stay-awake.
  25. Lol Ibti, don’t worry, I’ll have Sura-Yaasin on repeat play for the first few weeks/months You’re more than wlc and should anything happen your last rites are up to date... Sayid, I guess so! Passing just means you’re safe to drive on the road, I think you’re still learning for a while after that. I say wear flats if you are going anywhere risky, so you can make a run for it.
