^^ Absolutely, we all forget the power of words sometimes or make asumptions before we have even given people a chance.

I think the 600 odd pounds or so is probably not an accurate estimation of a typical family's weekly income. If the father works he should declare it, it's a myth that they won't survive because you get child tax credit and subsidised housing rate. Either way, the family is richer if they declare their working status. As for single families, it depends on case by case situation. The government calculates that money penny for penny; it's only certain ppl who believe it's free money to be spent as it pleases you. It costs a lot more than £50 or so per child to raise a child in London. Unfortunately, some sectors of our community believe raising children only entails sending them to school & feeding them. On the other hand, I get so outraged when I see the 65 year old door man working 12 hour shift, or the father of 3 waking up at 4 am to do deliveries, a quarter of their income going to tax so that some lying Farax and his family can live comfortably elsewhere  . Struggling as a family together is a small price to pay to get your dignity back & to show your children the ethics of hard work. No wonder there are so many unemployed young adults lining up for Social Services to continue to feed them. p.s HIZB, I don't know what kind of research that wadaad has done but lying about your marital status and claiming benefits is most certainly haram. You have to have faith in what Allah provides for you, how else are the countless of families surviving otherwise? It's usually the religious families, who both work. Secondly, it IS possible to work as I stated above.

If it was a long kaftan it would be nice, but what exactly is it? A sarong over you trousers and top? Kind of strange.

My mother is like that, and my grandmother before here. I have dreams sometimes, but not anywhere as accurate as my mother. that become reality a few days or weeks later, I think most people have this? Makes you think though since we only use a small precentage of our brains, what we reallly are capable of. We joke around that it's best mum never dreams of us. Anyways, I thought it was unislamic to retell bad dreams?

^^ How do you pronounce it? I cant make up my mind if i like it or not.

Cooking is overrated, it's not as difficult as people make it out to be. It's always beyond me how intelligent, capable humans are unable to cook.

I think unfortunately a lot of Somali familes are one parent families for real now.

Do you have Zara/H&M over there? You might find some skirts there, they shouldn't be pricy. If all else fails, come to London you ll find fashionable long skirts & dresses as well as itsy bitsy bits & jeans. I'm loving the summer, when and if it decides to arrive

^^^ And also the most unfulfilled.

Other ethnic minorities in the UK have avoided this pitfall because they don't suffer from inter-communal differences. I think that about just sums it up. It's quiet typical. A friend of mine was trying to organize a fun day for July the 1st for the children & the general community. She was told (by elders & a few business owners) that people would oppose her plan because it was deemed unpatriotic for S'landers to attend, which is like half the somali population in London. Sad indeed.

Acudibillah, I'm speechless.

I would call my kid Valenteenah, if a girl, and Xavier or Maximillian, if a boy. I have got Latin-fever A family friend's daughter, who is half-ethiopian & half Italian is called Valenteenah. Maximillian is the name of one of my oldest friend,it's quiet a common name for German boys/men.

Scar, cashiers aren't priveledged to see that kind of info, only parts of it. But when I worked in another department,I had access to all that info. It's quiet obvious when staff try to steal from customers, lenghty jail sentences too. Huge amounts of money is stolen in the case of identity theft, that should teach people to shred their letters. Sometimes niave call centre staff add to the problem as well. Also, Nigerians, even when they are British citizens have to get special clearnce, as does anyone who has ever had any links with the place, eg. born there. Apparently there are schools there that teach you how to rip ppl off.

It was racial, directed at Lebaneese thugs but basically anyone who looked Arab/foregin. I think this was back in Dec, not sure.

They are insured, it's usually in relation with Acount Take Overs, (someone pretending to be you & stealing your money). The worst I have seen was 210k. I'm sure there was some serious sacking behind that one. If you mean in relation of overpaying customers, tough luck, there is nothing to do but for the bank to cover the missing amount. They have allocated money for such hic-ups. But knowing someone overpaid you, would you keep the money? Ok sorry for the hijack, back to the worst job.

Good on you Valenteenah, I used to love to go to Sydney, but watching that clip on BBC news about a mop ganging up on 3 ppl, seriously makes you change your mind.

Lol North, how did you know? Well it's not my fault, if they hired more cahsiers there would be less mistakes & pressure. even when they were reporting massive profits, they lost more customers that way. Yep Legend, the worst part was balancing the till at the end of the day. Farah Blue, tuug waxid. I give back even 5 pence. Stress is checking your e mail 20 mins late and the bank loosing £80 thousand pounds. I no longer work in that sector.

Bank Teller I worked as a Cashier for a few months in a bank and I remember overpaying a lady by £900 and the bank had to investigate as was policy. Thankfully the Arab lady came back a week later saying I overpaid her by £900 and she couldn't come in any earlier. Phew. It's not fun with all those long cues and angry customers, but the day flies by, like 5 mins and you are done.

Besbaso, I was being sarcastic. Enough answers have been given, depends what advice the original poster wants to take.

Nice, now lets pray my sister has a baby girl this time.

Zafir, don't be afraid to say 'Get your own'. Or better yet, look evil, then they never look at you again.

It's a shockingly beautiful beach. If I was in their position without knowing what I know I would probably do the same. To take flight when your life is in danger is programmed into you by nature.

I still think you give TV too much emphasis. I watched lots of TV as a kid but my parents didn't like its power over us so we read and played outside and rode our bikes. Castro's approach works too.

Have security, simple as that. I can't believe ppl would show up uninvited.

I once worked for Help The Aged publications department for a few days through an agency and the room was sooo hot I felt like throwing up, my skin was itching and I felt really dizzy. Apparently, this particular window was not allowed to be opened, I worked there for 2 days before I left.
