  1. Every year the same crap about bored women, when will they realize some women actually enjoy watching football
  2. Soma Inc, I don't expect them to win, but I'm hoping they might just suprise us against the odds. I would much rather some unkown team win. It would be so broing if Brazil won again or France or Italy.
  3. Yes, the day has finally arrived. Our boss just announced we can go home at 3:30pm so that everyone is home(or the nearset pub in the area) in time for the 4:20 start. I think Portugal, maybe even the Cheks, I don't like them but they are good. I will never, ever, ever support England again if they don't win this year. I just love all the excitement, and we don't have to wake up at 7 am this time like last time. Don't waste your breath on African teams, they have wasted our energy since teh 90s and still no win
  4. They seem foolish to me if indeed they are responsible, I would like to see all the facts. I'm shocked family members are talking to the press.
  5. Sudden could be explained that in a way to convey that a person was not ready for death or did not expect it, I mean who is ever ready for it? I believe the hour is when you personaly die, I suppose your world ends then, no? As for me, a lot of those signs have already come true, but regardless of the hour or not, I know for a fact I'm going to die. So everyone will experience their own personal End.

    The Truth

I think a lot more humans would be content if they just accepted the limits of their knowledge. But by all means, do go on.
  7. Scenarios such as the one in Jowhar (as I heard from a family friend) where newborns are taxed, where family members are randomly arrested and money demanded because they have not paid their ‘tax’ (ignore the fact that they might have had one meal that day). Another example retold to us by an uncle detailed the case where militia (under instructions to make money by the ‘Big Guys’) have stolen hospital equipment donated by Western charities and thus demanding the fee of $300 (or an amount along those lines) for the use of these by desperate women in labour needing Caesarean assisted operation to deliver the baby safely. In this particular case, the man brought his wife in a wagon, and returned home with her (thankfully she had natural birth along the way) because he couldn’t afford the 300. These acts rank equally immoral as those who sell their fellow brothers. A mother might tell you these kinds of people are the worst criminals, a rape victim otherwise. The majority of us know what is extremely criminal, our own consciousness and our life experiences decide what degree of extreme immorality we attach to the act. On the whole I do think selling your fellow Somalis to torture & a Guntanomo Bay fait ranks up there with the worst. Now and then we see crimes that shock us further, this is just one of them. Regardless of whether Somalia practiced slavery or not I’m glad these warlords were not around during that age.
  8. I love the name Guled, I take it it's the Somali version of Victor?
  9. I think it's the tabloids that tend to generalise and make asumptions. Even The Economist once wrote that 80% of Somali children are illetarte because there are no primary schools in the country, which isn't true because they learn how to read and write the Kuran at a young age. It's good practice for anyone who wants to be a Press Officer.
  10. Food taste nice when you love to cook it, or you take your time and put the seasoning touches in at just the rigth moment. Like when baking, mixing the eggs just those 5 minutes extra can make a world of a difference to the texture of the cake and how soft it is, therefore adding to the overall taste. I like food, I like it better when it's cooked nicely. Bad cooks are bitter people who reduce the value of cooking yourself
  11. I remember going on rides with my siblings and my dad around the city, loud traffic, the leather seat sticking to your legs because it was so hot. Going around a roundabout with statues? Possibly a man on a horse as my mum says but I can't be certain it was that particular statue. Going to eat out after school on Thursdays, I was 5 and in year one. The front gate of our house, the tiles and the beds that were in our rooms. Also visiting 'Afgooye' on fridays, but I don't know if that was park or what it was, I do however remember clearly what brilliant coloured birds there were, some with gold and electric green bodies. Bits and pieces, and the colour of the beach. Going to the country side for school breaks. I remember the red sand, the huge mountains & hills, and the horrible food and wishing we were back home. It's strange what you remember.
  12. I don't know if this has already been posted, I thought it was interesting to say the least. The Union of Islamic Courts in Mogadishu break the silence (Press Release) Tuesday, June 06, 2006 To: United Nations Political Office in Somalia, UNDP Resident Representative, The League of Arab Nations, African Union, Organization of Islamic Countries, IGAD, European Union, Department of State, United States Government, United States Embassy in Nairobi, Italian Embassy, French Embassy, British Embassy, German Embassy, Djibouti Embassy, Norwegian Embassy, Swedish Embassy, South African Embassy, Egyptian Embassy, Nigerian Embassy, Saudi Embassy, Yemen Embassy, Sudan Embassy. Date: June 5, 2006 The Union of Islamic Courts in Mogadishu, have decided to break the silence between us and the international community. We made this decision in order to clarify the situation in Mogadishu and to bring the true picture of the conflict in the city and present it to the international community. Background: The Islamic courts have been established in Mogadishu in mid 1998 and are clan-based that serve their particular communities. For example Polytechnic(for Shabelle sub clan), Ifka Halane (for the Eary Sub-Clan), Yaqshid (for the ***** -Abgal sub clan), Circole (for the Saleban Sub-clan), Milk Factory (Duduble sub-clan), Al-Furqan (Sa’ad sub-clan) Xariryale and Daynile (Murusade clan), Balad (Wabudhan-Abgal Sub-Clan) etc. The main objectives of these courts to provide a minimum security, law and order to the communities that established them. The courts assume these responsibilities out of patriotism and service to our people, country and communities. The Present Conflict Sheikh Sherif Sheikh Ahmed - Chairman, Islamic Courts Union -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Retrospective analysis of why the Somali Federal Government could not locate in the capital city, Mogadishu was due to the “warlord†ministers of the Somali Federal Government who refused to be engaged in the Somali peace process and choose to keep the country hostage. These warlords refused to disarm, surrender their illegal checkpoints and transform to be national leaders. The present conflict has been fueled by the wrong information given to the US Government by these warlords who have denied their basic human needs for security and development and kept the Somali people hostages and terrorized them for the last 16 years. Their expertise is to terrorize people and they were able to use it and terrorize the American government by misinforming them about the presence of terrorists in Somalia. These warlords are allegedly supported by the American government ignores the long criminal history of these warlords and the war crimes they committed against their own people. The alleged support of the US government to these warlords has considerable contributed to the recent fighting in Mogadishu and the killing of the Somali people who has suffered so long in the hand of these warlords. Finally, after 16 years, the Somali people have decided to liberate themselves with the leadership of the Islamic court. The present changes were brought by the appraisal and refusal of the Somali people the anarchic situation installed by the warlords and said enough is enough! We would also like to address some of the misinformation and accusations fabricated by the warlords and wish to provide the international communities with accurate information that will assist them to support the desires and the will of our people who wish to be free form violence and anarchy, International Terrorism: 1) Somalia is a homogenous society, and any outsiders can be spot immediately. We are Muslim 100%, speak the same language and have cultural heritage that is very hard to understand for outsiders. We have a complex clan based system that is not easy for non-Somali to understand, let alone hide in the country. We categorically deny and reject any accusation that we are harboring any terrorists or supporters of terrorism in the areas where the courts operate. 2) We also confirm that our goals and objectives are to establishment law and order in our country and free our people from oppression. 3) We share no objectives, goals or methods with groups that sponsor or support terrorism. We have no foreign elements in our courts, and we are simply here because of the need of the community we serve. 4) We invite the International Community to visit the area where the court operates and see for themselves if there are any terrorists elements being harbored or living in this area. We commit ourselves and our clan elders to this position: to be open and honest in order to spare the Somali people the violence and the suffering being perpetrated by the warlords. We have nothing to hide from the international community and we strongly believe that, once they realize what we do and what we have achieved, they will support our initiative and efforts to bring peace and stability to Somalia. 5) There is also the accusation that we intend to establish an anti-US and Western government in Somalia. This is not true. Such an agenda is against our objectives and goals since this would contradict our wish for there to be a peaceful Somalia. This falsehood is being fabricated to get support from US Government by groups who have terrorized the people of this country for the last 16 years. 6) We want create an environment that could enable our people to decide their future. We want the Somali people to decide which form of governance they want and choose their leaders for the first time in decades. We would like to summarize our goals and objectives as follows: 1) To establish a system of governance in Mogadishu, and remove all the checkpoints and terror points that the warlords have set up and disarm all criminal elements that endanger the peace in the city; 2) We want to contribute to the rebuilding of our country and create a peaceful environment and a country that is at peace with itself, and with its neighbors and with the international community. 3) To rehabilitate and rebuild all the city infrastructures specially those that belong to the city governments, including its sea ports, airports, road, bridges, schools, hospitals, universities and have committees of the intellectuals running and operating of these facilities; 4) We would like to establish a friendly relationship with the international community that is based on mutual respect and interest and seek their support for the Somali peace process and respect their desire for peace. 5) We seek support for our communities who have been denied all the basic human needs such as security, liberty and development as accepted universally and in accordance to the human rights laws; We thank you in advance for your kind patience, understanding and support. 13. I think south Somalia has bigger problems right now than Somaliland. External forces will always be present, it's the order of politics and has been so for centuries.
  14. ^^^ The E facor is never dead, even if against all the odds, some sort of agreement is made that results in a shabby government in the South, they wil still use Somaliland is a platform to always meddle with the affairs of Somalis. Alle Ubahane, I don't think Ethiopian influence is a matter of fear, more like mosqitos on a hot night that you cannot get rid of, whatever you try.
  15. Sheh, do dig them up please.
  16. Happy B'day Valenteena, don't worry, you usually assess you life the days leading up to & after a birthday.
  17. thanks, looks like an interesting book.
  18. 1) Travel and or work abroad 2) Get published 3) Write full time and start a lingerie business with my sister. 4) Learn two new languages. 5) Have one child by the time I'm 30, preferably with a Farah I'm married to. They don't have to be in any order as long as I can do them all before I reach 30, I think there is enough time. This is my list for the moment, might change next year who knows. P.S My own farm to retire in, if I live that long. These are all obviously earthly plans, Akhira plans are something that should (hopefully) already be in tact now & not need to be planned for in the future.
  19. Let's hope they don't demand to become the next government. The useless government in Biadoba should use this latest victory to their advantage.
  20. Whilst alot of this may be staged, I do think that there is a more effective way to stand up to those whom you view as your enemies. You beat them at their own game, as Hamas did.
  21. Women are nothing more than women and nothing less. You figure it out.
