I doubt anyone will sit in your therapy seat Modesty however most Somali children are unable to discuss such issues because parents are too embaressed to even teach them the facts of life. I believe if a child had a close relationship with his/her parent they would say something.

I vote for T-girls blue rope.

Well if you have already made up your mind stop talking about it and good luck.

Amelia dear, you might not have enjoyed your degree but I find it hard to believe that you can say it added nothing to your life or that you would still think and be as articulate as you are now if you hadn't persued higher education.
-
Vibe, you have already gotten some good and bad advice. I would tell you to carry on, even if you don't like it you will prove to yourself that you can get through things you don't like. You can't give up everything in life just because it gets too much. Yes there are many graduates with no jobs but it's a matter of choosing your degree wisely (with those in technical and specialist fields getting good jobs). I say get through it and you'll be proud of yourself. How many times have we sat in front of essays wondering what on earth we are doing sweating over white dead men's thoughts? Or even considering giving up whislt working on the final disseration project? Chin up and continue, you might regret it if you don't. For once I actually agree with SB, what's the world coming to. Good luck.

My God MAf Kees, thats terrible. Xoogsade, I heard of a family friend who underwent such an experience. Apparently someone instructed the jinns to follow her from a trip to Ethiopia. Anyways, her brother came to visit us a few weeks later after she was well and we were all terrified (well I was) that some might have come along with him. I dont know what the big fear is though, we DO believe in the unseen and Quran tells us they exist. I think for me it's just the idea of being out of control.
-
^^I fully agree to that Val
-
Xoogsade that's freaky. I don't think I could have sat there laakin you are not meant to fear anyone but God. I think bad jinns are more scary than murders and evil people in general.

General duke, I have it on first authority that there are Ethiopean troops in Bidoba. My uncle is in Bidoba and he is having difficulties getting out because of curevews and the belief that people are out to join the Courts. But by all means, do continue to believe that they only have new uniforms, this sudden Somali army we haven't heard about.

Nothing shocks me anymore.

The same old question. Every woman is torn by 2 decisions, should she go out in the world and follow her career and dreams and be a free spirit or be bound by routine and expectations or what some call the 'natural order' of the world. There is nothing amazing about staying at home. I see how women struggle with that. The idea that the highlight of the day is the 20 min you drive your kids to school so you can chat with the other mums does not appeal to me at all. Similarly I would hate to spend my whole life in a 9-5. As most stated here, a balance is needed. No way I can accept staying at home indefinatley. I have a problem with any man who needs 'looking after'. Typical Farax, they want an accomplished Xalimo just so that they can downgrade her to sideline cheerleader.

^^Lol Val, unfortunately summer is also a time for children to go 'missing' menaing being prey to Phidos and murderers in general. Every summer there are at least a few children who go missing and bodies return in their place. It's depressing news.

I'm glad you are alive and well Warsan. My sister nearly burned down the house a couple of years ago. I was out shopping with my parents and the kids were in school. She came home after an exam and put on the pan to fry some chips, went upstairs and forgot all about it. She came down to find half the kitchen in flames. She managed to throw the pan outside in the garden (the kids had been drwaing there)and it was raining making it look like blood stains. So we come home and the front door is open, the kitchen is all black, and no one in sight. My parents thinking someone killed her because of red crayon marks in the garden. Anyways, she was next door sipping tea with th elderly neigbour. I nearly got run over a few times but once the bump the car actually hit me lightly.

I'm sure Muslim women are sick of being politicised  . It's not like Dubai is Saudi Arabia.

North, I have a pic in mind but still waiting for some I'm having processed, its not on a digital camara. And are you now saying the end of the competition is 31st July? All because of Madame Amelia's impatience?
-
T-girl's blue rope is spectacular. Excellent camara, the lighting is quiet amazing.

Lovely pics Sheh, did you keep a travelers log? So you just booked a flight to 'Nam? Tell us the background story since it is such an unusual location.
-
That's exactly what I mean, I'm sure someone else out there is pulling the strings. This cannot be real.

North, I was refering to the king's of France, I think there are about a total of 16 Louis who have ruled.
-
One should feel embarassed to be American with such a leader.
-
Breath-takingly beautiful pictures Maf Kees. Who took them?
-
Very funny, I'm with the French

I agree with Hizb, I don't think it is so much as parenting as it is about expectations. You cannot expect to raise children in one country and not expect them to have that culture, expecially since the children are much more assimilated into that culture. It is naive for them to assume their children will stay unchanged. Personally, I think this whole 'Somali dhaqan' is overrated.

From Self-destruction to Exploitation-The Somali Saga continues.
-Lily- replied to Che -Guevara's topic in General
Well some men get a kick out of controlling someone completely  . Besides, marrying 15 year olds is hardly manly. The report is exaggerated but there is no smoke without a fire.
