بعدما انصر٠بقية الاطباء، اخذ صدام يثني علي لوحاتي وتماثيلي ايما ثناء. لم يكن يعنيه ÙÙŠ المقام الاول انني انا وزملائي ÙÙŠ مستشÙÙŠ الواسطي قد حققنا بعد اندلاع الحرب تقدما رائدا، وطورنا اساليب جديدة ÙÙŠ مجال جراحة التجميل وجراحة اعادة التاهيل، وان ابحاثنا قد Ù‚Ùبلت ونشرت ÙÙŠ الصح٠العالمية البارزة. «طالما قرأت ان اطباء ÙÙŠ اوروبا كانوا ÙÙŠ الوقت Ù†Ùسه من مشاهير الكتاب والموسيقيين والمثّالين. وعلي ما يبدو Ùان لدينا الآن لأول مرة ÙÙŠ تاريخ العراق جراحا Ùذا ÙˆÙنانا عظيما ÙÙŠ الوقت Ù†Ùسه. انا سعيد ÙˆÙخور ان يكون ÙÙŠ بلادنا شخص مثلك». وبعد ذلك بثلاثة ايام اتصل بي احد العاملين ÙÙŠ مكتب صدام واخبرني اني قد صرت عضوا ÙÙŠ Ùريق الاطباء الخاص بالرئيس . ############## الحلقة الثانية: ############## قتلوا وزير الصحة وهشموا جسده ونزعوا عينيه طبيباً كانوا يهتمون بصدام.. ويدÙع قيمةاستشاراتهم !حتي لا يكون مديناً لأحد! مأساة الحرب مع إيران عند التحاقي بÙريق الأطباء الخاص بالرئيس، كان الÙريق يتكون من عشرة من الأطباء المتخصصين الذين يتولون علاجه، هو وأÙراد أسرته القريبين منه. وبالتدريج أصبحنا من عشرين إلي خمسة وعشرين طبيبا. كان صدام يهتم دائما اهتماما بالغا بأن يدÙع قيمة الاستشارات والخدمات التي طلبها، إذ لم يكن يحب أن يكون مدينا لأحد بشيء. كان صدام يعبّر عن احترامه لي وتقديره ÙÙŠ كل مناسبة ألتقيه Ùيها. كان يحميني من كل الذئاب المحيطة به، والذين كان ارتيابهم وعدم رضائهم عن أن احترامي لدي الرئيس يزداد يوما بعد يوم. كان ذلك له قيمة الذهب. كان هناك كثيرون لم يواتهم الحظ مثلي، ÙÙÙŠ أثناء الحرب كانت قوات الأمن والمخابرات تقتÙÙŠ أثر من يعارض الرئيس ونظامه أو من تظن Ùيه ذلك. وكانت هذه الأعمال تزداد ضراوة يوما بعد يوم. كان Ùايق ولائق وصادق ثلاثة من أقربائي، وقد تجاوز كلٌّ منهم العشرين من عمره. أخذوا ذات ليلة واتهموا بأنهم من المتضامنين مع حزب الدعوة الإسلامي المحظـور. لم يكـن هنــاك حديـث عن محاكمة لهم أو لغيرهم من الآلا٠المؤلÙØ© من العراقيين الذين كانوا يوارون بعد إعدامهم ÙÙŠ المقابر الجماعية. الحÙاظ علي السلطة كان وزير الإعلام والثقاÙØ©ØŒ الكمالي، واحدا من قليلين للغاية علي قمة الجهاز الحاكم ممن كانوا يحاولون الحد من أعمال التطهير هذه. كان واحدا من مؤسسي حزب البعث، وكان عضوا ÙÙŠ القيادة القطرية. ÙÙŠ أحد اجتماعات المجلس تساءل الكمالي عما إذا كان من الصواب قانونيا أن تظل المخابرات مصرة علي ما تقترÙÙ‡ من أعمال اعتقال وتعذيب للأبرياء من آباء وإخوة المتهمين من المعارضة التي لم تتمكن من إلقاء القبض عليهم. ثم قال: «إن هذا من شأنه أن يضر بسمعة الحزب والحكومة». كان صدام ينظر إليه ولم يقل شيئا، وبعد انتهاء الاجتماع أخذ صدامٌ الكماليَّ جانبا. «اسمع أيها الرÙيق. إذا كنا نرغب حاليا ومستقبلا ÙÙŠ الاحتÙاظ بالسلطة ÙÙŠ العراق، Ùيجب أن نحكّم العقل وليس العاطÙة». ولم يمر وقت طويل حتي جاء وزير جديد للإعلام والثقاÙØ© ÙÙŠ العراق. أما الكمالي Ùقد ألقي به ÙÙŠ السجن، وكان يعاني هزالاً شديداً بعد إطلاق سراحه بعد بضعة أشهر. وقبل ÙˆÙاته بÙترة وجيزة حكي لي الكمالي عما كان يدور ÙÙŠ القيادة القطرية. كانوا يتعقبون أناسا من جميع الطبقات ويقتلونهم دون تمييز، ذلك ما حدث للدكتور رياض إبراهيم أيضا. كان ÙÙŠ رأيي Ø£Ùضل وأذكي وزير صحة ÙÙŠ العراق علي الإطلاق. كان واحدا من الأعضاء الأوائل ÙÙŠ حزب البعث، وقد ألقي القبض عليه ÙÙŠ عام 1958 بعد المحاولة الÙاشلة لاغتيال الرئيس عبد الكريم قاسم ÙÙŠ بغداد، حيث كان قد ساعد ÙÙŠ إخÙاء الأسلحة التي استخدمها صدام حسين والمتآمرون معه ÙÙŠ محاولة الاغتيال. لكنه خرج من ذلك الأمر بعقوبة السجن Ùقط. ولأن شأنه شأن كثيرين من الذين انضموا إلي حزب البعث، كان رياض رجلا مخلصا مستقيما. كان يؤمن بالأÙكار الأساسية للحركة من تعاون بين الدول العربية وتقسيم عادل للأموال والثروات المعدنية. عرÙته رجلا يهتم اهتماما حقيقيا بمصلحة الشعب العراقي، وقد منحه لقب الدكتوراه ÙÙŠ الطب Ù€ الذي حصل عليه من إنكلترا Ù€ المقومات٠التخصصية الضرورية التي بسببها تقلد منصب وزير الصحة. الانتقاد ثمنه القتل لكنه كان يحيا حياة خطرة. كان يسخر من غباء وعجز زملائه الوزراء، كما كان ينتقد هؤلاء الذين كانوا من المواÙقين دائما ÙÙŠ مجلس الشعب، ويتحدث عن الطرق الغريبة التي وصلوا بها إلي مناصبهم. ÙˆÙÙŠ يوم من أيام صي٠عام 1982 Ø·Ùلب مني أن أذهب إلي وزير الصحة رياض إبراهيم ÙÙŠ الوزارة. لم أكن أعر٠سبب استدعائي، لكني عندما دخلت عليه ÙÙŠ مكتبه، قال لي إن اثنين من رجاله سو٠يصطحباني عما قريب إلي رجل له مكانة مهمة جدا. لم يصرح لي إبراهيم Ù…ÙŽÙ† يكون الرجل أو ما هو سبب المقابلة. «لا تتردد ÙÙŠ أن تقول رأيك عندما تقابله، Ùأنت غير مقيد بشيء»، ذلك ما أكده لي وزير الصحة. أخذتني سيارة مرسيدس سوداء بزجاج غامق إلي بيت صغير واطئ ÙÙŠ حي الجادرية. كان هناك من ينتظر قدومي. Ù‚Ùدم لي الشاي، وعلمت أن رئيس القسم المختص بسوريا ÙÙŠ المخابرات هو الذي يرغب ÙÙŠ إجراء هذا الاستجواب معي. عملية اغتيال ÙÙŠ دمشق دخل علي الÙور ÙÙŠ الموضوع. «هناك سوري يقيم الآن ÙÙŠ بغداد ونود أن نعيده إلي دمشق لينÙØ° عملية اغتيال هناك. لكن السلطات السورية تعرÙÙ‡ جيدا. لذلك نرجوك أن تغير ملامح وجهه تماما». شكرته علي ثقته الكبيرة ÙÙŠ مهاراتي الجراحية، ولكني رÙضت معتذرا. «ليس بمقدوري أن أنÙØ° هذه الرغبة، لأنها ضد مبادئي الشخصية وضد تصوراتي عن أخلاق المهنة». أجاب: «حسنا. Ùلتنس هذا اللقاء ولا تنبس بكلمة عنه لمخلوق أبدا». ÙÙŠ صباح اليوم التالي توجهت إلي رياض إبراهيم وحكيت له عن هذا المطلب. «هل كنت تعلم بما سيطلبونه مني»؟ «نعم»، أجاب رياض مضيÙا: «وقد أوضحت لهم أنك لن تقوم بشيء من هذا القبيل أبدا. لذلك Ùقد قلت لك بالأمس علي سبيل الاحتياط أنك حر ÙÙŠ التصر٠كما يحلو لك». كان ÙÙŠ مقدورنا أن نتحدث بصراحة عن كل هذه المواضيع ÙÙŠ مكتب رياض إبراهيم. أما عند بقية الوزراء Ùقد كان المعتاد تجنب الخوض ÙÙŠ أحاديث تمس الدولة وأمنها. تزوير شهادة لا أعر٠مَن Ù…ÙÙ† ذوي النÙوذ العالي لم يعد يرغب ÙÙŠ نهاية المطا٠ÙÙŠ بقاء رياض إبراهيم. Ùقبل أن يعزل عن منصبه ÙÙŠ عام 1982ØŒ كان قد روي لي أن هيئة أركان الرئيس ترغب ÙÙŠ إرسال طبيب بيطري إلي الخارج ليتخصص ÙÙŠ الأساليب الوقائية ÙÙŠ حالات التسمم. كان الطبيب البيطري قد حصل علي منحة ÙÙŠ معهد طبي ÙÙŠ الولايات المتحدة الأميركية، وما ينقصه الآن هو Ùقط أوراق من وزارة الصحة تشهد بأنه طبيب بشري وليس طبيبا بيطريا. ورÙض الدكتور إبراهيم ذلك. «ستÙقد وزارة الصحة للأبد مصداقيتها إذا واÙقنا علي شيء من هذا القبيل»، ذلك ما قاله الوزير وهو ÙÙŠ ثورة عارمة عندما اتصل به أحد العاملين ÙÙŠ القصر الجمهوري، وسأله لماذا يستغرق الأمر وقتا طويلا حتي يجعلوا من الطبيب البيطري طبيبا بشريا؟! وسبق السي٠العذل بسرعة Ùاقت تصورات رياض! وجهت له Ùجأة تهمة تحمل المسؤولية عن سلسلة من حالات الوÙاة Ø­Ùقن Ùيها المرضي ÙÙŠ الوريد بكميات من كلوريد الكالسيوم عالية التركيز. وعÙزل إبراهيم عن منصبه، وشكلت لجنة للتحقيق. وبعد ذلك بعدة أسابيع Ù‚Ùبض عليه وألقي به ÙÙŠ السجن. بلا حراك! وقد زرته ÙÙŠ داره قبل اعتقاله. كان مندهشا من حرسه الشخصي الذين كانوا لا يزالون يحرسون منزله، Ùقد كانوا عادة ما يسرعون إليه ليÙتحوا له باب الجراج عندما كان يريد الخروج بسيارته الرسمية قبل عزله. وها هم الآن ساكنون ÙÙŠ أكشاك حراستهم بلا حراك مثل الأصنام. ثم قال لي: «لقد كنت أحضر إليهم الطعام بنÙسي كل ليلة». أجبته إنه ليس من المÙروض أن يدهشه شيء هكذا، «Ùهؤلاء الناس علي هذه الشاكلة». ضحك رياض إبراهيم. وبعدها بعدة أسابيع اتهم بقضية الدواء وسجن. وقد برأت لجنة التحقيق الوزير من كل التهم المنسوبة إليه، Ùقد اتضح أن صلاحية كلوريد الكالسيوم المصنوع ÙÙŠ شركة أدوية Ùرنسية لم تكن قد انتهت، لكن نسبة تركيز كلوريد الكالسيوم ÙÙŠ المحلول كانت أعلي من النسبة المعتادة، ولم يعر٠العاملون ÙÙŠ المستشÙÙŠ أن المحلول كان يجب أن يخÙ٠قبل أن يأخذه المريض كما تنص علي ذلك نشرة التعليمات. لكن نتيجة التحقيق لم تجد٠شيئا. Ùقد Ù‚Ùتل إبراهيم بعد ستة أسابيع من بقائه ÙÙŠ السجن. كنت قد زرت زوجته قبل أن يقتله النظام بيومين للاستÙسار عنه، Ùقالت إنها استلمت رسالة كتبها زوجها علي قصاصة من الورق واستطاع أن يهربها من السجن. كان مكتوبا Ùيها أنه سعيد لأنه سيري زوجته وأولاده مرة أخري بعد أن ثبت أن الاتهامات الموجهة إليه لا أساس لها من الصحة. وأضا٠أن الرئيس سيطلق سراحه ÙÙŠ اليوم التالي Ùور أن يتسلم تقرير اللجنة ويقرأه. نزع العينين تولي أخوه أمر الجنازة مع الدكتور غازي الهبش، وهو من أنبل الأطباء الذين عرÙتهم، والذي أخبرني بأن ÙÙƒ الدكتور رياض إبراهيم كان مهشما، وأن جسمه كانت تغطيه البقع الزرقاء. كما روي لي أن النيران قد أطلقت عليه من مكان قريب جدا، Ùأصابته رصاصة ÙÙŠ رأسه، ÙˆÙÙŠ منطقة الحوض ÙˆÙÙŠ Ùخذه. كما انÙتزعت عيناه. كان مستشÙÙŠ ابن الهيثم ÙÙŠ بغداد يتلقي دائما مددا طازجا من ضحايا الإعدامات، وقد أنقذ قسم العيون ÙÙŠ المستشÙÙŠ كثيرا من المرضي المصابين ÙÙŠ قرنياتهم من أن ÙŠÙقدوا نور أعينهم عن طريق استبدالها بقرنية تم التبرع بها! ÙÙŠ بغداد كانت هناك كثير من الاشاعات حول من قام بقتل رياض إبراهيم. كانت أكثر الاشاعات خيالية تلك التي تقول ان صدام هو الذي أطلق عليه النيران بنÙسه بعد أن طلب منه ÙÙŠ أحد الاجتماعات الحكومية أن يذهب معه إلي الدهليز للحظة. لكن من المستبعد أن يكون رياض إبراهيم قد اشترك ÙÙŠ اجتماع كهذا، لأنه كان قد عزل عن منصبه كوزير للصحة قبل مقتله بعدة أسابيع. كانت هناك اشاعة أخري تقول ان برزان التكريتي، وهو الأخ غير الشقيق لصدام، هو الذي قتل رياض إبراهيم. كان برزان يتقلد آنذاك منصب رئيس المخابرات عندما قتل رياض. ÙÙŠ عام 1985 أتي إليّ برزان ÙÙŠ مستشÙÙŠ الواسطي لأجري له عملية بسيطة، وبعد ذلك تحدثنا سويا لبعض الوقت. أشرت إلي الأجهزة الحديثة ÙÙŠ غرÙØ© العمليات. قلت إن الÙضل ÙÙŠ حصولي علي هذه الأجهزة يرجع إلي الدكتور إبراهيم. أجاب برزان: «كان إعدامه خطأ Ùادحا وجريمة وخسارة كبيرة للحزب والعراق». لكن أخا صدام غير الشقيق لم يكن يرغب ÙÙŠ الحديث أكثر من ذلك عن هذه القضية. وظل الأمر كذلك ÙÙŠ جميع أحاديثنا الطويلة التي جمعتنا بعد ذلك. لم يكن الدكتور إبراهيم الشخص الوحيد من بين زملائي الذي دÙع حياته ثمنا لصراحته. Ùقد صÙÙÙŠ كلٌّ من زميليَّ الماهرين الدكتور هشام السلمان، والدكتور إسماعيل التاتار، حيث لم يكن لدي كل منهما القدرة علي الإمساك بلسانه. كان التاتار طبيب أمراض جلدية، وكان واحدا من الÙريق الطبي الخاص بالرئيس. أما السلمان Ùقد كان واحدا من Ø£Ùضل أطباء الأطÙال ÙÙŠ العراق. نكات بريئة ÙˆÙÙŠ أحد الاحتÙالات التي كان يعمها جو من الÙرح والمرح، ألقي الطبيبان بعض النكات البريئة التي لا تخلو مع ذلك من إيحاءات خادشة للحياء العام عن صدام حسين، وكانت عن تطبيق قواعد جديدة أكثر صرامة لمكاÙحة الإيدز. كان كل منهما معروÙا بحبه للدعابة دون تحÙظ، لكنهما لم يعرÙا أن واحدا من المشاركين ÙÙŠ الاحتÙال كان ممن يتعاونون بشكل واضح مع رجال الأمن، حيث سلط كاميرا الÙيديو الخاصة به عليهما خلسة. أحضر التسـجيل إلي الرئيـس الـذي أمر علي الÙور بإعدام كلا الطبيبين لأنهما شهرا به . ....To Be Continued Salam

Sue is good to read your reply and as always sis, you have good points. Now let us get back to the basics of the discussion at hand. I will try to address your points as they appeared in your post. When I said, implementing I didn’t mean in the literal sense of the word (that you have the power to implement these ideas into practical laws); but rather what I meant was, you are seeing the applications of these concepts in the ideal sense. On the question of the West implementing it and forcing feeding them across the far from ideal world, well see that is another topic and we can discuss it another time and place. I have touched on Islam to show you as an example, even when we apply this system, which we believe to be perfect, and which we hold dearly, we wont get its full potential at all. This is not the fault of Islam but ours and this comes about due to our nature of being greedy. In addition, nowhere did I state Islam was oppressive and dictatorship but rather said we humans could make it so if we chose it. I am not a secularist since I love my religion and I would love to see it applied properly in our daily lives in a fair and transparent way. Having said that, I wont be surprised if it ends being used and abused by those who rule us. It happened before and it could happen again unless we change our ways and fear Allah. Therefore, when I asked you what is the alternative, I didn’t mean Islam was not perfect or it was not the solution to our problems; I meant in terms of the Western system what do you want to see replaced with as the West would never implement Islam. So my question is, you live in the West and since you don’t believe in democracy, what do you want them to replace it with since they wont do with Islam? Don’t get me wrong here I am not saying start a revolution or fight for a change in the system but rather since we are exchanging ideas and debating, so I am naturally wondering what would you have loved the west to implement in order for that new system to be fair, and by human standard to be attainable? The question of Bush being elected fairly or unfairly is controversial issue, which arose whether he won the state of Florida or not and thus, it was never settled or agreed upon. One thing has been agreed Al Gore has got the most popular vote but the fact remains the American presidential election is based on Electoral College as opposed to popular vote. The Electoral College system works on the fact that each state is awarded points based on the population of that state and if a candidate wins a state, he/she gets the full point of that state. Therefore in the end what is counted is, the total points each candidate has across the whole of USA and the one with most points wins the election and not the one most people voted for through out the USA. We can discuss this system on another thread, its advantages and disadvantages. In conclusion, I too would say again, what I said before Islamic system is perfect, and is we humans who are not.Thus we have to think how best to implement Islam and not just shout Islam without understanding! If one were to strech the anolgy a bit further one could sasy Marixim is perfect and some people believe that. (Note: no direct comparison is intended here between Islam which is a system given by God and human made comunsim). So even that system when it was implemented it failed due to our greedy. Ùهمت٠قصده. كان الجيش العراقي قد تمكن ÙÙŠ بداية الحرب من احراز بعض النجاحات، غير ان الايرانيين ÙÙŠ خلال عام 1982 كانوا قد دحروا قوات صدام المهاجمة. وسعت دول عربية عديدة للتوصل الي وق٠اطلاق النار، لكن الخميني الذي كان مزهوا بالانتصارات التي احرزها ÙÙŠ معظم الجبهات قرر الا يوق٠القتال الذي تحول الي حرب استنزا٠كبدت الجانبين خسائر Ùادحة. ومع الوقت تم استدعاء جميع الرجال الذين كانوا قادرين علي حمل السلاح، والذين كان يمكن الاستغناء عنهم ÙÙŠ وظائÙهم الاساسية، ÙÙقدت الاسرة وراء الاخري عائلها، وعاش كثيرون ÙÙŠ Ùقر مدقع. تجنيد بالقوة حكي لي احد اقربائي عن اسرة كانت قد انتقلت ÙÙŠ اثناء الحرب من البصرة الي احدي الضواحي ÙÙŠ الجنوب الشرقي من بغداد. كانت الاسرة تتكون من رجل وزوجته وطÙÙ„ رضيع يبلغ من العمر ثلاثة اشهر، وما ان انتقلوا الي تلك الضاحية حتي كان مندوب حزب البعث هناك قد اتي اليهم وطلب من الرجل ان يسجل Ù†Ùسه بأقصي سرعة ممكنة للمشاركة ÙÙŠ الحرب مع قوات الجيش الشعبي. «ارجوك، كن كريما وساعد زوجتي»، هكذا توسل الشاب الي الرجل قبل ان يذهب إلي الحرب، Ùهو لم يكن يعر٠احدا ÙÙŠ بغداد. بعد ذلك بأسبوعين رأي الجيران زوجته تجلس علي السلم باكية، Ùلم يكن لديها ماء او اي شيء يؤكل ÙÙŠ شقتها. كان الطÙÙ„ قد Ùارق الحياة. ولم تجرؤ الام علي ان تغادر المنزل وتطلب المساعدة. تولي الجيران دÙÙ† الطÙÙ„ الرضيع واهتموا بالأم الشابة القادمة من البصرة. وبعد ذلك بشهر وصل نعش الزوج من الجبهة. كان صدام يدرك ان عليه ان يخÙ٠من المصير المر للحرب، Ùشرع يوزع السيارات علي اسر الجنود الذين سقطوا ÙÙŠ الحرب. حصلت كل اسرة علي سيارة جديدة ومبلغ عشرة آلا٠دينار، وهو ما كان يعادل آنذاك ثلاثين ال٠دولار اميركي. وكان نادرا ان تÙسلَّم السيارة ويÙدÙع مبلغ التعويض بلا مشاكل. ÙÙÙŠ حال اذا ما كان المتوÙÙŠ متزوجا، Ùقد كانت اللوائح تنص علي ان زوجته هي المستحقة، وهو الامر الذي كان والدا المتوÙÙŠ واخوته نادرا ما يقبلونه. كانت هذه الخلاÙات كثيرا ما ينجم عنها الضرب واطلاق النيران والقتل اذا ما استعانت ارملة المتوÙÙŠ بوالدها واخوتها وابناء اخواتها ليساعدوها! كذلك Ùقد واحد من الممرضين ÙÙŠ مستشÙÙŠ الواسطي ولده ÙÙŠ جبهة القتال. ما زلت اراه امامي. كان منهارا تماما علي الارض من شدة الحزن بحيث لا يمكنك مواساته. لم يمر سوي اسبوعين الا وكان يقود سيارة تويوتا كورونا جديدة وقد لطّخ ابواب السيارة بالدماء، Ùقد ذبح خروÙا وسكب دماءه علي السيارة ليدÙع عنها الحسد. وها هو ذا الاب يضحك الآن ملء شدقيه! ÙÙŠ بادئ الامر كانت توزع سيارات تويوتا كورونا يابانية الصنع. وعندما ارتÙع عدد الضحايا، انخÙض مستوي السيارات الي السيارة Ùولكس Ùاغن باسات التي كانت تصنع ÙÙŠ البرازيل وتستورد من هناك. كانت السيارات تأتي الي باب المنزل، غير ان معظم الارامل والاسر لم تكن تستطيع قيادة السيارات. وبالرغم من ذلك Ùقد كانت السيارات تستخدم علي الÙور، Ùتصاعد عدد الحوادث بشكل جنوني، وساهم عدد ضحايا حوادث المرور ÙÙŠ ارتÙاع تلال القتلي. وقد سمعت ان ذلك كان احد الاسباب التي جعلت صدام يوق٠مشروع «سيارة ÙÙŠ مقابل الابن» ÙÙŠ وسط الحرب. تم ايضا استنÙار ما عر٠بالجيش الشعبي ÙÙŠ بدايات الحرب المبكرة. كانت هذه الميليشيا يسيطر عليها حزب البعث، وكانت قد اسست ÙÙŠ عام 1970 لتتولي التدريب العسكري الاساسي لكوادر الحزب، Ùمثلت بذلك ثقلا مضادا للجيش النظامي ÙÙŠ حال تدبير ضباطه لمحاولة انقلاب. معاقبة راÙض التجنيد ÙÙŠ خري٠عام 1981 Ø·Ùلب من اعضاء حزب البعث ÙÙŠ جميع ارجاء العراق ان يكونوا قدوة لغيرهم وان يتطوعوا للخدمة العسكرية ÙÙŠ الجيش الشعبي. سري هذا الامر ايضا علي ممثلي الحزب البارزين، غير ان كثيرا منهم رÙض تنÙيذ الامر بدعوي انهم ليس بمقدورهم الذهاب الي الجبهة لاسباب مختلÙØ©ØŒ صحية او شخصية علي حد سواء. كان الدكتور هاشم جابر واحدا من هؤلاء. كان استاذا ÙÙŠ طب الاسنان ورئيسا لجامعة بغداد، وكان يعاني منذ وقت طويل متاعب ÙÙŠ الكلي وضغط الدم المرتÙع. وكانت عيادته الخاصة تقع بجوار عيادة جراحة التجميل الخاصة بي، Ùكنا زملاء علي علاقة جيدة واصدقاء. ÙˆÙÙŠ ديسمبر عام 1981 تلقي الخبر بان عليه ان يسجل اسمه للخدمة العسكرية ÙÙŠ قاعة الخلد بجوار القصر الجمهوري مع اربعمائة وعشرين عضوا من اعضاء حزب البعث ذي النÙوذ الكبير. كان صدام رقيقا، وكان صوته حنونا عندما اÙتتح الاجتماع. «ÙÙŠ بادئ الامر اود ان ادعو كل هؤلاء الذين ليسوا ÙÙŠ حالة صحية جيدة او الذين يشعرون بانهم منهكو القوي، او لديهم غير ذلك من الاعذار القهرية التي تمنعهم من الانضمام إلي صÙو٠الجيش الشعبي كغيرهم، ان يتÙضلوا بالجلوس ÙÙŠ هذه القاعة الي اليسار»، ذلك ما قاله صدام. Ù†ÙØ° دكتور جابر ومعه مائتان وثلاثون من اعضاء حزب البعث ما طلب منهم. كان من بينهم عديد من نواب الوزراء واعضاء كثيرون ÙÙŠ مجلس الشعب. «هنا اعلن إقالتكم بلا سابق انذار. لا اريد ان اراكم مرة اخري ÙÙŠ حزب البعث»، ذلك ما قاله صدام. إلي الجبهة ÙˆÙÙŠ آخر الامر ارسل هؤلاء الاعضاء البالغ عددهم مائتين وثلاثين الي الجبهة. كان من المقرر ان يعقد لقاء القمة لرؤساء حكومات دول عدم الانحياز ÙÙŠ عام 1982 ÙÙŠ بغداد. تكلÙت الاستعدادات مبالغ طائلة، Ùقد امر صدام ببناء Ùندق جديد، وهو Ùندق الرشيد، للمشاركين ÙÙŠ القمة من اكثر من مائة دولة. كما قام بشراء عدد كبير من السيارات المرسيدس الليموزين للتنقلات، وغير ذلك الكثير. وبسبب الحرب والحالة الامنية غير المستقرة ÙÙŠ بغداد، حيث كانت تتعرض المدينة بشكل مستمر للهجمات الايرانية بالقنابل والصواريخ، اجلت القمة لمدة عام آخر وتقرر انعقادها ÙÙŠ العاصمة الهندية نيودلهي. Sue , could post as always and let me now add my two cents. Let me say from out set I don’t whole heartily believe in freedom and democracy as you defined them here. This is the ideal definition of these concepts and as you are aware, we are imperfect beings who live in an imperfect world! â€Is it me or are these either a contradiction or a concept that is beyond the comprehension and scope of this imperfect mortal world we live in?†There is no contraction in these concepts is just that you are trying to implement their ideal case scenario and that is not possible. Having said that it doesn’t mean they are beyond comprehension either cause we just have to take into account for our less than ideal situation! Freedoms of different people will always conflict for the simple reason we humans are selfish by nature! Therefore, the trick is to avoid being selfish as much as you can, compromising, and tolerating the views others achieves this. Comprising if you think about it is in one’s best interest since the winner takes it all mentality wont work in this day and age. Even a superpower like USA has to realise that eventually. I would therefore say is in everyone’s best interest to aim for these concepts cause the alternative is dictatorship and oppression for all. A general rule one should always follow (in order to make life easy for themselves) is almost anything is attainable to first order approximation! “And as for democracy well I think democracy is a mockery of our intellect! “. Otherwise, states like New York, California will dominate the union! So, give us another example. Allow me to change the topic a bit and tell you even if we implement Islamic system we will never have the best of that system too. This is because in the early days of the Khalifah people disagreed on how to implement it. The disagreement and divisions arose mainly as a result of political interests and this in turn led to theological difference which are still with us today. Some of the Sahabah kept silent for the sake of Islam in order to avoid Fitna, even then, people still disagreed, and the Khaliifah were all killed except for the first one .The other problem is Islam can be interpreted differently by different people based on their understanding of the religion. So naturally, a problem of dictatorship could arise here since people will try to force each other on their different interpretations and any disagreements could lead to wars. This is because everyone would believe they are on their right path and only their posses the truth. So in conclusion, I would say no system is perfect for imperfect being like us who live in an imperfect world! Therefore democracy and freedom are fine concepts and we should all strive for them even if we cant implement them to their full glory but at least aim for them. I am Tired... First let me say, I always try to avoid to use Islam as a tool to win my point of view. This is because most of our people use and abuse Islam, in order to change the whole discussion so that they can win it. For us Muslims, Islam is a way of life and thus we cant differentiate it from our everyday life. Having said that, the reality of our everyday life is, we don’t apply Islam to our lives and seem to use it when it suits us only—hence we use and abuse it according to our interest. The use and abuse of Islam is not a new phenomenon, since it started with some of the early Sahabah and who turned the Khalifah after few years into kingdoms and in Islam there is no such thing as Kingdoms. Seriously, do we really expect the warlords in Nairobi, to unite us and rule us in the name of Islam? I don’t think so and anyone in their right mind wont expect that to happen either. The reality of the ground in Somalia is a Muslim is killing a fellow Muslim and until we correct this, any discussion of Islam is pointless. The lack of application of Islam to our live is not unique to us Somalis as this is across the Islamic world. No single Islamic country today we could say uses Islam in its entirety. Therefore, the discussion at hand here has nothing to do with Islam since both parties don’t practise Islam and so no justification could made to use Islam here to get a point across. Thus, we should stop involving Islam to this discussion and get on with it. The discussion here is one of nationalism/tribalism in nature and as such let us debate in that context. Even though people here might argue (until the cows come home or to their hearts desire), that both sides are Muslims and thus Islam ought to be part and parcel of our lives but unfortunately Islam is not part and parcel of our everyday lives; hence this discussion is beside the point in this framework. In essence what I am trying to say is let stop using Islam for political gains and try and impress each other with it.
