burahadeer replied to Mooge's topic in General
Iran and Saudi Arabia r oppressive regimes. There be much less niqab when people free and on their own will, just look at any muslim country that's not dictatorial.I been to few towns in Somaliland couple times last 10 yrs and to my surprise found out that niqab is disappearing. Also every women with niqab is not what you thought.Lot thm put on when they going to chat session or have date.It should be personal. Kulu nafsi bimaa kasabat rahiintu. Niqab surfaced last plus 20yrs among Somalis and already back to square one .Were we muslims before the niqab, i.e 1980!? -

too defensive bunch..muslims way behind. -
certainly there r differences between U.S & Europe i.e dress, behavior.Americans r easy going, talk ,smile much & even less casual in dress.Europeans on otha hand uptight, aloof & love to put their suit & shining shoes( and the English, oooh too smart for me),looks come with that.Forget about rest of world, they far detached from both above.

Most small, middle businesses r run by women and as far as I know women have as much rights as men traditionally and in towns. They might not be 100% equal to men but what you painting is beyond truth.Marrying 4 wives, some otha restrictions due to religion . I see more as economical/ educational which probably equally affects men.

Mogadishu will soon lose all hope. -
@Galbeedi...I don't belong to any party; supported riyale & support silanyo now and the latter has done much.I don't follow party line but what you don't follow is how much private sector has accomplished.Have you been to small villages esp along the highways between big towns, yes they have 24 ligt, schools,,,what about 24 hr running water except in hargeisa which sometimes have difficulty & they working on it.What about universities, what about the 2 bridges in hargeisa & burao(first done by Somali),what about booming business that you can get almost anything, what about Dhabshiil,Indhadeero,Omaar etc...did they get help from NGO's.What about all these multi million Bacadlayaal. What about telecommunication..hahaa did the EC help thm.?! Most hospitals were renovated & supplied by ordinary people, yes gov't & some NGO's later come with little help that didn't last beyond year.Who was paying teachers for almost 20yrs before current admin took ova..it was the people. My friend I concentrate on what people r doing for thmslvs...Mogadishu has much more help last 20yrs into the billions and nothing to show for.And lastly who built all these beautiful mansions in hargeisa , Burao etc in what was barren land in 91. Are you aware of all the private schools,hospitals.....who built all these nice beautiful hotels? NGO's r not in my book & most of the money end up in their pockets.Yes know SL getting help time to time from outside, but believe me the larger population write that off or care less...these NGO's have yet to show something tangible. There r so many little projects done by people whetha coca cola, beverages, meat factory, beeyo, small scale farming, roads etc.

think is more than that; is the eva present conflict between Hag & Sahal and there won't be a solution unless they disengage(separate states),,,one takes ova by force or is run by a 3rd party like the UN. -

what concerns and more ova bewilders me is why they don't concentrate their house burning under their feet. Why spend so much time in unity they thmslvs don't believe.
