Today, we approved close to 100 aliens as part of our cafis program for previous troublemakers or new members who had no one to sponsor them. This is some sort of a temporary experiment to see if our membership system can be improved. If this becomes as sucessful as our "MEMBERSHIP LOTTERY", "SILENT BAN" or CLOSED MEMBERSHIP programs have been, we will make this permanent and do this cafis on a yearly basis. In the next few days, we will be adding an Af-Soomaali forum on SOL. All the af-Soomaali threads will be moved to that forum and the General section will be organized. This separation will make things easier for everyone. We have been getting complaints lately about the quality of the General section and the way the General section is organized. Talking about bad publicity. We have been getting complaints about the constant insults and the personal attacks going on here lately. We are doing a mass clean up of individuals who we think are violating our website rules on purpose. These are the red flags. Multiple usernames Insults/vulgarity Complaints about SOL and its staff posted on the open forums (send pm if you have issues). Undermining Admins/Moderators's ability to do their job. Tribal names. The above is the quick list we are using to narrow down the abusers. We are investigating more individuals who we think are bringing down the quality of our website deliberately. We urge the nomads to respect others and avoid insults and personal attacks. SOL strict rules will always be here. Sue, I haven't seen any insults against the black race here and if I and moderators have missed any, the right thing is to forward it to the Admins/moderators and it will be deleted. I remember a while ago a young Somali girl posted couple of insults against African Americans using the "N" word and she did it more than one time. Her posts were deleted and she was banned from the site. SOL doesn't discipline nomads for saying they are not black. We just don't tolerate insults.

couple of nomads brought to our attention that OG_Girl's username is used by couple of other people who are not registered on this site. If this is true, it is clearly a fraudulent way of obtaining membership to our site. It is unacceptable. We have evidence of different logs for the specific username but we are still investigating this matter and if we find what we are looking for, we would have no choice but to suspend that username and ban the individuals who are responsible for the illegal sharing of SOL username. We have been having problems with our hosting company about the website's high traffic and we had no choice but to reduce the traffic untill we complete our move to new servers. We have couple of issue to take care of, as of today and hopefully the website will be fully functional in the near future.

Macruuf, not only are we listed as a related source site now, we were actually on the list of "BBCi Recommended" on their popular search engine for a while but we lost our status after the website went down for a month due to our server limitation at the time. Their crawling software caught us and that wasn't pleasant. That "downtime" was a set back for us as it costed us our title. We were the first Somali website ever to be recommended by the BBC as having a Somali-related quality content. Don't worry nomads, we are building our "credit" back as the most decent, reliable Somali content on the internet. Soon inshallah SOL will be on the "BBCi Recommended" list. The BBC's "internet army" is still watching our performance and it will just take time to get their trust back. Asalamu Alaykum how does it affect you? why do you care? As many of you may have noticed, yesterday our server space got full and our website was down for couple of hours. We had to add more space to our servers and I am sure that situation wasn't convenient for many of you who frequent this forum by the minute. This site has approximately 100,000 posts and that is not an easy burden on any server. As a result, we deleted many topics posted by some individuals who were creating trashy topics (like Cawo stated above), full of insults and personal attacks. We are doing more cleaning and we banned many individuals, Inshallah some more troublemakers will be banned in the next couple of days. Those who sponsored some of these new troublemakers will aslo be given a first warning by Admin via pm. We respectfully ask the nomads not to waste our space with insults and personal attacks. That is the easiest way you can help us conserve some valuable space. NOTE: We have set up a donation box for those nomads who can help. It is just the most practical way of asking you to keep this forum running smoothly. It is one way of giving back something. Thank You nomads.
