Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmed Isse Awad is on the spot for illegally appointing and backdating the employment status of 11 diplomats, in breach of civil service law.
Sources told Radio Dalsan that the Foreign Ministry is now under probe to determine how the appointment was made after former prime minister Hassan Ali Kheire was ousted by the parliament, in a no-confidence vote.
The Foreign Minister is said to have been in Nairobi and deployed the officials in an online memo. The diplomats affected include those manning missions in Turkey, Canada, UAE, South Africa among other countries.
Some analysts told Dalsan that the appointments were illegal as they violated the constitution.
As details emerged on Thursday, Somalis on Twitter lampooned with most saying the illegal move could damage Somalia’s diplomatic practice.
