  1. Election fever is ON, but he needed to this long time ago. Interests of Puntland has been either ignored or outright opposed specially by those who have federal ambitions. There is few of those kind in Ethiopia as well with kililka interests.
  2. Excellent. Great example of what can be done when one is organized.
  3. This also will grow out of control and out of proportion. Very sad.
  4. Kenya and Ethiopia have agreed to enhance these programs: Joint Defence and security (kenya to increase weapons expenditure and buy from Ethiopia as Uganda is doing), increase joint excercises etc Improving highways for trade Ethiopia selling 400MW of electricity this year to Kenya and immediately as GERD comes on line to ramp up Have joint policy in Somalia and South Sudan and co-ordinate

In addition I also hope the Americans are changing their style. Their old system was no other economic activity around their bases except the service industry and their cultural expansion of cinemas, bars, night clubs etc. They were in Ethioia during the cold war for 25 years and after they left not sa single factory, but a lot of hotels, bars night clubs that closed and that town is now far behind other towns. There is some signs of change like some of their special forces learning vetrenary work and did great help in kililka. I hope they open schools around them and teach part time as volunteers, help with city water system, electricity etc.
  6. Now another one over the top. cadnaan1, I do not want to name names, but I am here to show you which one you have in ind and at heart when you say are in Kenya. Is it only Aweys endorsed and in return endorsing Aweys that is your criterion for Ulema? Is it issuing fatwa to assasinate a list of Somalis in the kilil that is your criterion for Ulema? Actually that person would have been killed if the kililka people had same criterion and Wahhabi sect Saudi style. The kilil people consider themselves most tolerant, most respectful and most caring when it comes to faith. It showed during problems with next kilil the Oromo.
  7. “Hezbollah = Lebanon,” Education Minister Naftali Bennett, a rightist in the Israel’s conservative coalition government, said on Twitter on Monday, Reuters reported. “The State of Israel will not differentiate between the sovereign State of Lebanon and Hezbollah, and will view Lebanon as responsible for any action from within its territory,” according to Reuters. _________________________________________________________________ Sara Taha Moughnieh Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah thanked his faithful people for their support in the Parliamentary elections that took place on Sunday, assuring that parliament membership is not a position sought but rather a duty in front of Allah and a trust from people that should be preserved. In a televised speech he delivered Monday, his eminence considered that the election was a great achievement after nine years, giving credit on that to Lebanese President Michel Aoun who vowed to hold elections during his era, and to the Lebanese government and all the Lebanese people who cooperated to make this achievement. Sayyed Nasrallah indicated that the proportionality vote law gave a great opportunity for many political forces and figures to participate, adding: “despite some flaws in it, we must not go back to the old law of majority”. His eminence further referred to the security situation, asserting that it was very stable and it proved that everyone can move freely in this country except for himself due to the Israeli threat. Sayyed Nasrallah considered that completing the election in one day was an achievement, noting that a large representation in the parliament has two benefits, first is that it gives a political protection for the resistance and for the Army-People-Resistance Equation, second is that having a strong parliamentary bloc makes the electoral programs more achievable. “What we aimed at was achieved,” Hezbollah secretary general said, adding that “this is a political and moral victory for the choice of resistance which will protect the country’s sovereignty.” His eminence indicated that “there were many attempts by the US and some Gulf states to distort the image of Hezbollah and impose new sanctions and pressure on it.” “Conferences on the resistance in Lebanon were held in some countries in attempt to weaken it, and efforts focused on making the resistance audience lose trust in the resistance leadership and penetrating the Shiite environment… They wanted to take one Shiite seat in order to use it politically against us and claim that the resistance environment is punishing Hezbollah… but this attempt was brought down.” “It is only normal due to the demographic nature of Baalbek/Hermel to lose a couple of seats for other parts, but their attempt was to take a Shiite seat… they even stated that one Shiite seat equals 127 parliaments members according to them.” “This campaign and effort in Baalbek came with counter results as the voting rate among Shiites exceeded that of 2009,” Sayyed Nasrallah pointed out, noting that those who were waiting for the results to say that the resistance has lost its popularity lost their bargain. Moving to the post-election stage, his eminence stated that: “We must be aware of a national fact in Lebanon, it is that no one can cancel anyone in Lebanon, and if we want to solve the problems of this country we must cooperate and agree.” “I have always asked you to keep place for reconciliation and today I renew my call. Everyone must calm down. We are all the students of one national school, there is no teacher and student here, and we must avoid any sectarian, regional, or inciting speeches like those we heard before the elections so that we avoid any future conflict in the country. People must not accept that. We must calm the situation in the country, act positively, and leave no space for gloating.” Moreover, Sayyed Nasrallah called for wisdom in order to form a new government within eight months, especially amid the regional developments, as “we don’t know where the region is going” … “Whether we like it or not, we now have a parliament for four years, it will form a government, and the spirit of cooperation must be dominant,” he added. Regarding the voting results in Beirut, Sayyed Nasrallah said: “For all those who worry about “Beirut’s Arab identity” I assure to you that Beirut will keep its Arab identity even more than before especially after the diversity in its representation today.” In conclusion, his eminence expressed gratitude for Allah and for the people who were faithful to the resistance. He further saluted the families of martyrs who attended the polling stations carrying pictures of their martyred sons in a very touching scene, and the wounded fighters and the elderly who insisted on giving their vote of trust to the resistance despite difficulties.
  8. Anyone can add countries or states/provinces which he/she thinks qualify to have deep state. Now you are over the top. How cowardly, how dehumanized are you trying to make the people of the kilil, just to make a point against Iley. There is a million points you can make against Illey in politics, economics, technology...without resorting to tell us that the people of the kilil are afraid of or respect Iley more than their prayers as per their faith. That is beyond the pale. BTW Iley is a public figure and if you believe that he is the only one who influences and makes decisions then no point talking about deep state.
  9. Absolutely, why not. I just did not want a very long topic and most SOLers seem interested in Somali enclaves except few.
  10. Isn't the wife from your corner of the world, how dare you scorn her in public here at SOL? lol
  11. Thank you Oodweyne. That gives a good picture. I will make Ethiopia last, since everybody has something to say of the inner workings of Ethiopia, right or wrong. I will ask it on the Igal thread, but what transpired between him and Obtidon was some typical Somali suspicion and mistrust, even though Igal was open and straight forward. Ghelleh sees to have followed Obtidon advice on Soaliland and Ethiopia to the smallest bit.
  12. Come on my friend, spill some of it here in SOL country. Some meat to the theory and generalities.
  13. I think Gheleh is getting old. This is menacing look. He was always open face and even cheerful in the past.
  14. lol Even the security man is laughing that he cannot hide. And why not she is very pretty. Gelleh probably offered her police chief for Goraleh Terminal
  15. How does one detect if Ulema and religious leaders are part of the deep state in kililka. One very clear indicator: There has never been any government decision that was critisized on religious grounds. Either the decision has been checked before hand or is sourced from doesn't matter, what matters is that not one has been found to conflict with the faith. For example: Condemnation of ICU and accusation that ICU is terrorist clanish hidden under religious garb was unanimous across kilil. The government did not have to say anything. The religious leaders exposed ICU for what it was and the job was done so easily. You still can't see the deep state in kililka? Do you need another indicator?
  16. Every nation worth its salt has a deep state. Every nation worth its salt must have a deep state. Every nation worth its salt cannot be without a deep state. That is the accepted norm. Read the link if you want real down to earth explanation. https://www.mintpressnews.com/deep-state-101-primer-prescription/241682/ If you say yes, please describe which are the deep state club in each country or territory. Kilil: Of course has deep state. Members of the deep state are in Dirdawa, Qebri Dahar, Hargeisa, Djibouti, Addis Ababa and some small towns I don't think is right to mention. Members of the deep state of kililka are businessmen, intellectuals, Ulema, ex-fighters for independence from Ethiopia and a new group of Technology savy modern and metropolitan in many countries. The deep state influenes the kililka through the annual pre-Ramadan conference, through Ethiopian federal government diplomacy, trade, security activities, Ethnic and tribal connections with all countries and territories around, membership in good standing on the fight against terrorism, etc
  17. What democracy? The Prime minister Hariri has confirmed his party lost from 33 seats down to 21 seats. Lebanese structure is even more spaghetti than any country. There are 128 seats in parliament equaly divided 64 each to Moslems and Christians. Again the 64 christian seats are divided into 11 sects, ethnics and groups. HizbAllah and allies are expected to win 68 seats. Condemnations will come from the democratic world including Lebanon sanctions.
  18. Ifiye, I understand your emotions, but nations are not run like that, at least nations with a future. Most Somali people have moved on from that old temptation. And its working much better. In Djibouti big success, in Ethiopia big success, in Kenya will be even bigger succeess. Even in Canada, US and other countries the Somali people are striving. Keep it going.

I think is oil and taming Turkey, pre-emptying the chinese all packaged in one. Now we will hear what those who were disparaging Djibouti for doing the same will say.
  20. First of all its not hundreds, since Ethiopia will not has no capacity to go after every fighter or irridentist. Its only those in position of leadership. There has never been hundreds of leaders. Are you folks expecting Beletweyne to help destroy Jigjiga and not expect anything in rturn? Is this even right or fair, even if we forget international rules. Simply as communities is it right? These are things you do, even if you decide to do them in secret. If you do them in the open means like Late Barre you have declared war on Ethiopia. SFG also has to abide by agreements entered including the late president Barre, so does Ethiopia. If SFG gives a list and also the cases, will get persons that have to be accountable in Somalia.
  21. The kilil has pre-Ramadan conference yearly where priority issues are areed concensus. There are elections for regional as well as federal parliaments, there has not been any demonstration, discussion and you can trust me on this the kililka people, elders, Shieks, and other prominent persons are not cowed. BTW Referendum has rules and articles on how its called. You do not call by assumption or Ifiye thinks no Somali in planet earth would choose to be Ethiopian. You need 66.6% vote just to initiate the question. For 3 years the federal system has opportunity to address the greviences for you wanting to leave and then after the 3 years you need 66.6% of the population to confirm you want to get out of the federation. That is what the Somali kilil people agreed through 4 of the political parties including ONLF and prominent persons conference. If you want others to play by the rules and not interfere in your self governing autonomy, then you also need to play by the rules. Whether you and I like it or not, Ethiopia and Somalia are two separate countries. Have to abide by international laws of citizenship and immigration. Same with Djibouti, same with Kenya. Somalia can send military to attack Ethiopia, but Somalia citizens can not act on their own and expect to be treated as if sent officially. There is a British citizen who was leader of an armed opposition caught in Yemen and extradited to Ethiopia. 4 years later stil in jail. He was not sent by her majesty's government. Why do you want to be treated as citizen and have the benefits of citizenship in Britain, Sudan, Ethiopia or Djibouti if you do not respect citizenship rules. Its that simple. Emotions of individuals are no rules among countries. All over Africa there is divided communities by borders. Somalia has accepted this fact by signing AU membership and also specific agreement late president Barre signed with Kenya.
  22. My two cents on the issue of brother Qalbi Dhaqax. He knows and every Somali should knw that absolute majority of Kililka has agreed to stay in Ethiopia as a kilil with full and complete autonomy. There is solid unity on this issue across all clans, sub clans, sub sub clans in this Somali enclave which has almost all clans, sub clans of all Somalis. Unity of the people has been achieved on this issue. Let next generation change this if they so choose different direction. Therefore every Somali region, state, federal or countries including NFD, Djibouti should respect this decision If any neighbouring region of Somalia or other countries has different choice and wants to openly support anyone who does not respect this cchoice and wants to force a different direction by force of arms on the people of the kilil, will be treated as threat. If any neighbour wants to support someone that will kill me, what do you expect I should do with that neighbor? Not bragging, but everyone should know that, let alone Ethiopia, even the kilil has enough reach and power. If as neighbor you do not want to respect me don't expect respect. If as neighbor you do not have good wish for me, don't expect to get good will from me. To those who think that they can do as they wish, but nothing should happen from Ethiopian side: How would you feel if kililka intefered in your clan competition and did damage to some of your regions? How would you feel if kililka supported one war lord or another and threw a monkey wrench. Would you be happy and "patriotic" then. Everyone needs to respect choice of a people of a region. This applies to everybody. The Somali people lives in continent, but is not a continent. Has countries, regions, territories even if its imposed in the past. For good or bad has been accepted now. It canot be main agenda for the Somali people. Our brother should have negotiated with kilil and federal government, come home and conduct his politics peacefully. Otherwise the least he could have done is conduct his work in secret. Otherwise Mogadishu, or regions cannot and should not tolerate anyone that operates across countries, no matter how noble or right or wrong you think his ideas are. Here would be conditions of his release: If he is an Ethiopian, which he is as far as I know, he needs to have his day in court and then purdoned with restrictions If he wants to be citizen of Somalia republic, he should renounce his project of waging war on Ethiopia as a citizen of Somalia, unless he is sent by his country. Either way best thing for him is to be Ethiopian, come to kilil and contrbute what he can as being parliamnetarian, district governor...etc many options open.
  23. lol Does it mean you are opposed to some modus vivendi with Puntland with talks it doesn't matter how arranged or conducted? Do you seriously believe these ;eaders can maintain relative peace between their enclaves without some channels?
  24. Very noble idea. The Somali people should stop the thinking that "oh if I did this, this or that clan will call me names or will campaign against me..etc For Gaas and Bixi meetings can only be secretive or under cover of something else. Bixi can lower protocol for example and meet Gaas and Illey together so its bordering Somalis meeting. Some economic or leadership conferences that are always going in Addis. Or find loyal and secretive intermediaries. Somaliland should postpone strict border delimitations and controls, and Puntland should also leave things where they are for now. Establish 2 or 3 controlled trade lines and make common locals involved. You use Basaso where closer and Puntland uses Somaliland ports for western part. There is so many things that can be done without the big one. Id there is conflict among villages, you can invite elders from far away communities even from kililka or both of you, but far away communities, before the governments are involved. You can also have Director of East and South border issues and Puntland can have North and West border commisar and these two persons can exchange info and solutions. Such systems can prevent possible war, regardless of Hargeisa Mogadishu governments falling under some spell.
  25. There is no protocol among brothers. Ghelleh comes to Dirdawa or Jigjiga as he pleases.
