From Garowe or Galkayo it can bring hundreds more soldiers, but in the front line is just another one with the same soldiers. -

cadnaan1, You could be one of those wringing hands about it, but let me give you some example: Eritrea and Ethiopia killed about 70,000 soldiers, 18 years and countring no trade no interaction separated families in the border..and afecting all hon of africa including Somalia. Badme was more dusty middle of no where settlement of handful farmers. Britain and France gathered forces in what is now south sudan over some dusty village all with the plan of their empires railroad which 100 years now has not been built. Britain from Egypt to South Africa and France from West Africa to Djibouti. This dusty village was where their plans intersected. You should think whats behind the obvious news most of it fake propaganda. This could change everything Somali and affect every enclave. -
But why now and particularly why this year? Could the trigger for the timing january/february this year be something else other than the wish of Somalilanders to develop the area? Why now and why do it with force of arms? Why this was not done or could not be done in 1995, 2000, 2006, 2011..2020, 2024 etc

STOP THIS WAR BETWEEN SOMLILAND AND PUNTLAND Its the 19th century Boqor days all over again and Somaliland is falling for it. Not sure but the authorities in Somaliland may consider this an opportunity to change subject at home, or have fallen victim to machinations of others. If its Puntland then its someone in Puntland working for others interest. A very dangerous war for all Somalis everywhere including Kililka and Djibouti. For the sake of all Somalis, Somaliland should get down from "We will only negotiate with Somalia on equal basis" and talk direct and with respect with Puntland alone. You are destroying all of the area, when it was time for peace and development. All foreign investment which was destined for this area will be either gone or delayed. Immediately Puntland, Somaliland, Kililka and Djibouti will be affected by it and slowly all the rest of the Somalis including NFD. Forces from Djibouti should set tents and separate the two militaries then have them talk. No other African or Arab is needed. -

This war is a conspiracy against Puntland. Its more than a dusty village or blood that has been spilled. No matter the outcome Puntland will come out weakened and easily pressured from the deep state in the capital The whole game is to weaken Puntland which has been too strong to push around with Federalism. Those who appear to support Puntland here are anti-federal system anti Puntland. Somaliland is falling for it. Somaliland should have withdrawn with secret agreement with Puntland. Deny the war that is wished by so many with some conflicting interests. UAE will also weaken Puntland so it gets even more closer to them since Mugadishu has told Turkey and Qatar not to spend a penny on Puntland. Djibouti is also silent, wants weaker Somaliland. Kililka is against war of any kind in the neighbourhood when there is good prospect and commitment by countries like China to invest. If the Oromo do not take constructive measures and choose to prevent investment from going to Kililka....will be dangerous. Djibouti and Ethiopia should push to stop and freeze this wherever it is. -
galbeedi, Incredible. Such cruelty and ill will in this month? For me I knew there is no limit with you the length you would go to the bottom of humanity, when you used Jawar argument during the time Somalis were killed deep inside Oromo kilil. Governments come and go please put the poor nomad first. One day soon Ghelleh, Bixi, Gaas, Iley....will go, but the nomad will be there for millenias one way or another. I would have expected you to stop them killing each other than killing both of them. Only few warlords in Mogadishu are rubbing their hands for that kind of situation. Learn from Ethiopians and Eritrea: Wether unitary, separate or federal Puntland is crucial/critical without which neither Somalia or Somaliland can move anywhere. It was the Afar-Tigray that determined Eritrea and Ethiopia's fate at the end of the day and put an end to 50 years of stop and go wars. The Somali and Oromo agreed with them and was the conclusion.

Name any thing: Ratio of debt to GDP, over dependence on Ethiopia, too close to China, corruption, possibility of regime change....the wrong kitchen sink...everything is thrown at Djibouti. That is how the west works. Creating doubt, trying to scare Ethiopians of risks and wars and "devil shadows"...and when we all fall for it...the west does its final steps. I understand where you are coming from and your point you want to make. Its all about Somalis outside of Ethiopia. What I don't like and is becoming common among Somalis is that, before highlighting the wrong per se and per its own merit, there is a habit of labelling as UAE stooge, Ethiopia stooge, Qatar Stooge, Uganda Stooge, Kenya stooge... Nothing serious can be addressed until Somalis start blaming or praising each other by the very issues that confronts all wherever we are. Not to the extent in Somalia and others, but there is a small number of Somalis in kililka who copied this culture and say that kililka is Tigray and they happen to be water carriers for the anti Somali part of Oromo.

Any reason why you are laser focused on Ethiopia? Is it Puntland the trigger or something to do with Berbera, Djibouti?

General Mohamed Ali Samatar renounces Ogaden claims in 1983
Old_Observer replied to cubano's topic in Politics
I think you should understand: 1. That is only history and no time for history now there are too many priority issues 2. Only the Somali in Ethiopia can decide now, no body else. Others can only support if they agree with the choice otherwise keep mouths shut and hands folded. 3. Since the above all others opinion is of no value or consequencial. Only the Somali in Ethiopia decide and choose. 4. It is not even an issue currently in kililka let alone other territories of Somali people. -
Ducale, From the Ethiopian side during Mengistu everything is documented. No need to go to propaganda and falsehoods. Do you know that the most preferred of the rebels by Ethiopia was USC and Aidiid in particular? Do you know that SSDF was most nationalist if that means against Ethiopia? Do you know how many years A. Yusuf spent in Mengistu jail because he told Ethiopians to remove their flag from territory he thought was Somalian side of the border? As for 2006 Every single one of the clans, warlords, MPs had agreed they need outside military help. Yemen, Djibouti, Sudan and Ethiopia were selected for cultural affinity, neutrality, and volunteering to use their own money that way there is no UN or AU to interfere for other countries. If Mogadishu can live happily with Uganda, but not Yemen, Djibouti or Sudan that is their choice. Ethiopia was not going to go further than bordering regions. Based on that Yemen was first country to reactivate its embassy even when Mogadishu was not secured.

Puntland was the most advanced society of any Somali territory before europeans arrived. Not just a sultanate, had a kingdom with standing army, beaurocracy and navy. Fair and open tax collection and services. All the above 130 years before the Tigray arrived. That history is why that part of Somalia was able to constitute regional government relatively easily. Its is not fair or true to make Puntland creation of Ethiopia.

This is a politically debilitating sickness. It had paralyzed and lost credibility even for promising opposition in Ethiopia for past 20 years. When you consider the culture and faith of the Somali people, this culture is very destructive. The days of two nomads going opposite direction exchanging real information of what is ahead for each one of them, where one can find water, the nearest village....is falling apart. The age of facebook.

It happens without fail. HiirShebelle is saying are determined to build dam to regulate river prevent flooding and use the water. Hopefully will succeed. Draught then flooding then draught circularly victimizing people.

Nabdoon Ahmed Aar Buraale Murdered in Hargeysa
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Somalis need to condemn this kind of news outlets. Its very common among Ethiopian diaspora to announce as killed in battle with some fictional rebels someone that died due to natural causes. Getting a picture from any other country India, Mynamar or African gruesome killing and give it some Ethnic angle.. Jawar used Mynamar pictures to show Oromos as victims making it fuzzy. Every Somali need to take this seriously even when the fake news supports one's side, it can be your family your town tomorrow. If it becomes a culture tolerated can really do damage to country society. -

Muqtada al-Sadr cobbled together a coalition between his Shiite Sadrist movement under the Jawabna (The Answer) slogan and the Communist Party of Iraq to achieve an unexpected preliminary Iraqi parliamentary election victory for Baghdad province early Monday morning. The "Marching Towards Reform" or Sayirun Coalition hit the streets immediately after the news was announced. They gathered on Tharir Square in downtown Baghdad, where cleric Sadr has held fiery anti-government speeches for years, nearly every Friday. “This evening , you see all the Iraqi people out for the result of the victory of the 'Marching Towards Reform' list in the elections, and this didn’t come by chance, this came for the sake of proving the rejection of the policy of corruption and the corrupt for 14 years," Jabra al-Tai, a Sadr candidate, told AFP. The list won the most votes in Iraq's most populated province, its capital Baghdad, beating out incumbent Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's list and those of two other Shiite former PMs, along with other prominent Shiite lists, according to preliminary results released by Iraq's independent election body. The celebrating Sadrists set off fireworks, honked horns, and waved flags and banners. “This day is a big Iraqi celebration, the victory of the Marching towards reform list, the alliance represents all Iraqi people," said Sheikh Khalfan al-Kabi, a supporter. Sadr's apparent victory in Baghdad could have an impact as Shiite-dominated Iraq seeks to form a coalition government after Ramadan. “We expect from the four coming years that God willing Iraq will be well and peaceful, and work well and peacefully, and will enter stage in the interest of Iraq by getting rid of this corrupt class," said Hamdan Obeid, a Sadr supporter. The election body had announced that "official preliminary results" would be released by 6 p.m. on Friday. Sadr published photos visiting the family shrine of Grand Ayatollah al-Sayyid Muhammed al-Sadr after the preliminary election results were announced. "We call on all parties’ blocs not to interfere with the work of the election commission and we call on our brothers in the commission to work with transparency and integrity, respect the votes of the voters, and accelerate the issuance of preliminary and final results so as to avoid political pressures by political parties and others,” tweeted Sadr on Sunday prior to the announcement of the results.

Hirshabelle government plans build dams on River Shabelle to avert recurrent floods Hiiraan Online Saturday May 19, 2018 Hirshabelle state plans to build a dam to avert floods from River Shabelle in Beledweyne town amid thousands were displaced by heavy floods. In an interview with Hiiraan Online, Hirshabelle President, Mohamed Abdi Waare said his government was keen to launch a project to build dams on River Shabelle. "We are carrying out plans to avert floods by the river. We will build dams as soon as possible," said Ware.
