Djibouti urges Somaliland and Puntland to stop fighting
Old_Observer replied to Deeq A.'s topic in Politics
cadnaan1, I think and its a fact Djibouti is much closer in everything to kililka. I am not convinced that you are more worried about Djibouti. You and I have a diametrically opposed outlook to the Somaliland Puntland fight. -
The only difference is cadnaan1 wants the war to be big, hot, destructive, but at the end weak, exhausted and bankrupt Puntland to win. I don't want the war to happen at all, if it happened to stop and Puntland to focus on its development and improve its status in Somalia and the region. To be more wealthy, more developed in all fields, have peace and security that comes from being organized and wealthy and powerful. Then cadnaan1 moved to Ethiopia and started the oldest mantra of Somali against Xabeshi. What he forgets purposely is that the Somali is now a player in what is called Xabeshi/Ethiopia. Kililka interest is not and cannot be ignored in Ethiopia anymore. Kililka's interest is: Prevent war Avoid war If at all you have to fight need to be short and with strict focused objective. No point or purpose fighting over generalities like Irridentists when you can't manage and secure your own small house.

I don't think so. He will tell his Oromo that its not in their interest to quarel with the Somali. It is also not in Oromo interest in the long run. Its some Oromo trying to control the trade route to Djibouti. The Hareri is sandwitched. There is also some Somali who this as opportunity for power in the region. But basically any conflicts around this area is trade route related.

The interest is mutual. Ethiopia helps the region from being battlefield for others and Bay Bakool helps Ethiopians from being battlefield of Itihad/Shabab and all incarnations of them. You make it look like Ethiopia is a colonizer and the Bay Bakool people are welcoming colonialism. This has nothing of that sort. The region has same interest like you to develop, but can't if everytime they try and other forces are there to bring it down and back. You are also arguing from an outlook of the old Ethiopia. Ethiopia itself has been shaken and turned up side down and completely transformed. Bay people can see this from their contact with Ethiopia. Example there is no religious issue the Ethiopians are respectful of faith and culture of the people. They do it in their country as well. Anything interaction you do with Ethiopia, you are also doing it with your Somali ethnic. The Somali in Ethiopia is no more this excluded outside onlooker. Is part of the structure and an important player in Ethiopia, so Somalia is not just interacting with this Christian, Xabeshi empire of old. Mugadishu or Somaliland may blame Bay for working with Ethiopia using old images, but I see Mogadishu is happiest with Ugandan Army. Ethiopian Army did not go to Somaliland for simple reason. Somaliland on its own have kept terrorism out and Ethiopia is satisfied with this situation. Ethiopia went to Djibouti to help with anti-terrorism and now Djibouti is capable of protecting itself and Ethiopia.

Djibouti urges Somaliland and Puntland to stop fighting
Old_Observer replied to Deeq A.'s topic in Politics
Is telling you that this war is not football, its human life involved here, there is poor nomad involved here, you consider bullsh!t? The audacity of some is incredible. At the very least this is war between Somali people who have to live as neighbors forever. I also fear this war might have outside interests and beneficieries that are looking it as football. -
Why would Mogadishu take advantage of Puntland? wow Are you that eager to see them fight? I don't wnat to talk like its football, because it involves human life, otherwise I would have told you there is Liyu which by now is world famous. Means special forces kililka. Don't go in that direction. Pray for peace at least among the Somali, if not with the Xabeshi. If you want to fight Ethiopia, that is your choice.

Djibouti urges Somaliland and Puntland to stop fighting
Old_Observer replied to Deeq A.'s topic in Politics
You don't have to search for meaning that was not said. Everything is plain simple. 1. Kililka as a smaller image and foot print of all Somali clans/sub clans can be easiest to be affected. Kililka hates all wars that go among the Somali, but when its close has that extra effect 2. If there is wars in the neighbourhood not good for investment. This was the time when kililka is set to take off economically. With investments committed and prospective. 3. Berebera port would benefit kililka in a major way, but Djibouti of course is going to fight this tooth and nail, but the fighting has to be all with rules of commerce no guns involved 4. Ghelleh maybe calculating that the Berbera port might fail if Somaliland is at war and maybe he is leaning for the war to continue. That is fair accusation and is a fact. Hope that clears it up and liberate me from the spy on loan lol -
You are concerned that it might take 30 years like Mugadishu. I think and hope that you will be even bored more. Cooler heads will prevail and find a solution or freeze the problem where it is. Move on to something else greater. Puntland needs to focus on what is happening in Mogadishu and Hargiesa needs to realize not to interfere with Puntland, since its the region that will determine what happens next with Somaliland.

The gossip is worst than that. Maybe some kinship involved. No idea how true or false.

Djibouti urges Somaliland and Puntland to stop fighting
Old_Observer replied to Deeq A.'s topic in Politics
I agree. But Ghelleh is in a pickle. On the one hand he wants/is his interest for Somaliland to be occupied and not develop Berbera on the other hand if Somaliland gets frustrated can overthrow him. If he does not come completely in the hands of US completely and in a hurry, Somaliland is the only option to make regime change in Djibouti. He is playing favours with new government in Ethiopia by distancing himself with kililka. He is in a pickle all around. He should work to stop this war which can really grow into regional very easily and quickly and consume a lot including Ghelleh himself. Ghelleh needs to know that the new government of PM Abiy is more American than previous one, plus wants to squeeze bargains out of him when he is in this tight spot. -
MMA, I personally know someone who was a team leader, a Somali, who had in his team from many ethiopian nationalities including from Tigray and Amhara up north who fought against Aidiid forces. He has made 3 tours in Bay Bakool. First against Aidiid, second working with RRA when they had planned to organize the region with local government, militia and the whole works and 3rd time during TFG of Abdulahi Yusuf. You may be right the first invitation may have come from genral Morgan against Aidiid, but since the Ethiopians wanted to work with the locals the relationship was established then. The relationship of Bay and Bakool was good during Meles premiership through out.

Shariif Xasan survivor Djibouti, Asmara, Addis Ababa, Senaa, Mogadishu...have all dealt with the man at one point or another. Very interesting man.

He must have pressured Mr. Bixi since the last posting was that Somaliland should finish this disputed areas.

Giving credit to Ethiopia is the equivalent of committing heighest crime for some Somalis. Its a gift of nature. Is a neighbor unless the Somali or Xabeshi pack their bags and leave this troublesome part of the world. It also happens t be most miitarily capable country in East Africa. There is also 7 million Somalis in Ethiopia. Uganda, Brundi are also guaranteed by Ethiopia for backup, evacuation.

UAE is blaming Farmaajo and Qatar for Tukaraq fighting
Old_Observer replied to maakhiri1's topic in Politics
Its the timing that is most surprising and incredibly questionable. The fact that Somalis can fight is not in question. As I see it the timing is all wrong. I think Somaliland fell for the conspiracy from somewhere else for no benefit to them. As for Puntland this could not have come at the absolute worst time. -
Do you know what they talked about to say no benefit? Probably the Somaliland Puntland fighting may have been the issue they discussed. Both have stake in it and also benefits.

Somalia, Ethiopia discuse bilateral relations 26th May 2018 John Snow MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali PM Hassan Ali Kheire and his delegates have arrived in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, after receiving an official invitation. The delegation led by PM Khaire was warmly welcomed by senior Ethiopian government at airport in the capital, according to officials at Somali Embassy in Addis. Mr. Khaire has held talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister, Dr. Abiy Ahmed, discussing crucial bilateral issues of mutual benefit to both countries. UAE is blaming Farmaajo and Qatar for Tukaraq fighting
Old_Observer replied to maakhiri1's topic in Politics
Did Puntland ask Mogadishu to send the army to defend against secessionists? Its primary responsibility of the federal governemnt to lead, finance and do the fighting. Puntland does not have more than other areas in power in Mogadishu. Somaliland could have been asked to withdraw by some excuse through other channels. Both Somaliland and Puntland are being ambushed here, but the ambush hurts Puntland more than anyone else, regardless how the battle ends. -

Old_Observer replied to maakhiri1's topic in Politics
I am not trying to discourage you from being fan on one side or another. I am just telling you that this incidents are more than what they look. If yu are fighting on behalf of all Somalia against secessionists as you say let Qatar and Turkey replace UAE and finance Puntland. Its that simple. What I see is everybody either encouraging the fighting or sitting aside and watching two bald men fighting for a comb. -
Why is Puntland allowing evryone to squeeze it and bankrupt it and then destroy it? I was sseing most of you condemning Puntland for UAE help. I don't see you asking Qatar or Turkey to finance Puntland, or shring from what Qatar is giving you. Somalilanders don't fall for this pointless bravado. What you get after you weaken Puntland will be a nightmare. I am telling you from experience. Puntland is best for you Somalilanders what ever you want to do in the future. You are making enemy of Puntland and using force to make them enemy.

Djibouti urges Somaliland and Puntland to stop fighting
Old_Observer replied to Deeq A.'s topic in Politics
Exactly. That is what bothered me most. I understand he has issue with Somaliland based on ports, but he needs to realize that small unseemingly incidents sometimes do develop into something big to bring down empires. On a human level as well many nomads are being negatively affected by it. -

What is he doing. Should have sent soldiers already and stand between the two. If he is waiting until Somaliland is weakened, should understand that Puntland will be even weaker. -

Not an iota of doubt what so ever that this battles are most Dangerous and linked to Qatar/UAE. Somaliland fell for it and Puntland is being squeezed from all sides, the real Victim of circumstances beyond its control. Somaliland is comitting a grave mistake in heling wound or kill Puntland. Wringing hands are everywhere mainly in Mogadishu happy to see very weak and bankrupt Puntland that will come begging to Mogadishu.
