Quraanjecel: Biixi go ask Richard Corfield and we will meet in Laascaanod
Old_Observer replied to Mooge's topic in Politics
Mooge, We need you here for information. I do not want you to disappear like our Oodweyne after making similar statement like yours. -
You are the one insulting yourself/your own intelligence. I would never call a somali anyone's dog. I always try to see what is his/her interest in being friend or ally with anybody. I never called Djibouti an American dog or chinese dog. I never called Aidiid a Mengistu Derg dog, never called A. Yusuf a Tigray dog..I never called Mogadishu a UAE dog and now a Qatari dog.. Its all interest. If your interest at a time coincides with others you will be allies, friends..that is all there is to it. That interest may not be important to you, but is still shared interest. Bay and BaKool have interest for peace and security so does Ethiopia/kililka so why would anyone expect them to be enemies? A. Yusuf wanted to reconstitue at least the Boqor if cannot reconstitute Somalia and the Tigray were most open and supportive. His isea was noble. The least he could do for his people was reconstitue what they had 100 years ago if he cannot bring them Somalia Republic.

Almost all Somalis not from Ethiopia I spoke in these couple of days find the news about Ethiopian navy increduleous. This comes from: 1. Lack of knowledge of principalities, Sulatanates, states from hstory around the world 2. Not knowing what the functions of a country's navy tasks are 3. Not understanding that armed forces around the world are being transformed the way they do things. When you start giving them examples and functions then they go ah ya makes sense. Most of them understood the news as Ethiopia starting navy. Your mind can change what you see applies here. PM wants to double training from 500 a year to 1000 a year otherwise Ethiopia has had navy and marine forces since 16 years ago.

Geopolitical Change, a Rising Hegemony, and Berbera Port Deal
Old_Observer replied to Aroori's topic in Politics
Miyir, As you say lets not beat around the bush. You think/are convinced that Ethiopia wants Somaliland to separate from Somalia and be an independent country. Am I correct? -
Ducale, It sounds like you are from the camp of the other Gelleh who is in some hot water with the first lady of Djibouti. They are both the contraversial Ghelleh and first lady Somalilanders by birth while President Ghelleh is Ethiopian. President Ghelleh wants to tie Djibouti and Ethiopia inseparably. Even politically he proposed Confederation. If Ethiopia and Eritrea seem to make peace expect Djibouti and Ethiopia to have same political system and enjoined in 24 hours.

You practically do not need a coatline. You only need few ports where you can make calls when needed There is noyhing grandious about it. Its kind of special forces and works for many countries. Its kind of professional army you can keep floating and help countries when needed in dangerous places and also attack navies of enemy countries in special places. No that is not in the cards. Yemen was most preferred place, but then shortly yemen fell into situation and now the president who was more than willing to work together is even dead. Che, I hope you are joking if not Somalia should stop defining national security always in terms of Ethiopia. It should be first what do you want to do with Somalia in terms of development and then if you decide to put agriculture in certain area and Ethiopia is risk then you device strategies to mitigate the risk. Sometimes I see Somalis worrying about Ethiopia, when Ethiopia has no plans or intentions about an issue. Ethiopia has had this training since 2000. There are thousands of Ethiopians working with chinese, american and other countries naval movements and mainly shipping lines. A lot of shipping lines hire them for security safety of ships.

Somali Region Diaspora Held Another High Profile Gathering to Denounce What They Called ‘Abdi Iley’s’ Brutality The social and justice movement that is called Dulmi-Diid Movement and is powered by the Somali diaspora held and another highly profile conference in Minneapolis on Saturday May 27, 2018. This event follows a serious of conferences and consultation forums held across the globe in four different continents the latest of which was to denounce the brutal killing of 18 your old girl named Taysir Omer-Food couple weeks ago. Dulmi-Diid, which roughly translates in to ‘Taking A Stand Against In Justices’ in Somali, is a social and political movement that claims to advocate for human and democratic rights in the Somali Region and vowed to end what they called egregious human rights abuses and injustices perpetuated on the Somali people by the current Somali Regional president and his administration. The theme of this conference was to seek justice for Taysir Omer-Food and thousand others across the region that are either killed, incarcerated or displaced by Abdi Iley. Dumi-Diid is a loosely tied grass roots level organization that has satellite branches in more than have a dozen countries that has actually proven to have a potent mobilizing capability given the series of conferences and events they held since December last year. It is also catching fire like no other organic and grass roots level movement in the short political history of the Somali Region. So far, they have also proven to be effective in shedding the light on the human rights conditions of the region and directing the attention of the international media such as the VOA and a handful of other Diaspora based opposition media outlets. They have also drown the ire of the Somali Region President and his administration up to the point of arresting the families, relatives and the businesses of those at the forefront of the movement. The Regional Government have even established what they call a ‘Command Post’ to crash this movement mimicking the national Command Post that enforces the recently declared State of Emergency(SoE). According to organizers, the event is intended to show solidarity with all those suffering under what they called ‘Abdi Iley’s brutality in the Somali Region’. They also urged prime minster Abiy Ahmed and the federal government to intervene and stop the egregious human rights violations in the Somali Region. They are betting on the hope that the reform mandate he has both from the streets and the power corridors in EPRDF will help alleviate some of the political, economic and security alienation that Somali people has endured in the past. To follow up with that promise, a group of Somali elders, politicians, intellectuals and diaspora groups are in Addis Ababa to protest to the federal government. This growing opposition movement came in an interesting time in the Region’s politics in which there are widespread and often violent protests against Abdi Iley in the Region. It also came at a time when there is a renewed communal clashes across the Somali-Oromo border.

I hate to do this to you during the holy month. Wife of Meles was kicked out in Tigray 3 months before Abiy was even in top leadership of Oromo let alone prime minister. Now Abiy has appointed her to be in board of directors of METEC (The corporation that makes and exports Unmaned planes, armored vehicles, helicopters, maintains aircrafts for Uganda, Sudan and even west african countries, builds trains, buses, ) few days ago. That $130 million dollars on a pick up truck/SUV lol was not worthy of you to even scribble it I don't even know why you would strain your eyes to read it. Don't try give Jigjiga a bad name for no reason and with completely untrue stories. Don't you know that Addis baba is connected to the world. Had you said contraband and qat route which the Oromo are fighting to control and when your side loses blame Kililka and Liyu, we would have thought you are being reasonable. The trade route Ethiopia Djibouti is the reason of all this campaign and I know which side you are ON. Wish you all well through the month..

lol Hopefully is in good health

That is very true, but the military also realizes if one fake news on facebook creates social chaos will be costly for the country. He also seems to have been able to calm the situation. Leaders of OLF which is now ODF came to the country. Oromos for most part see the light. Now those who wanted federal system destroyed are in total confusion. Cannot go against a PM well received, but this PM is dedicated to see the federal system strengthened. Transition is confusing everybody.

Al-Shabab reportedly overran Puntland military base
Old_Observer replied to maakhiri1's topic in Politics
This was expected. It seems its all round offensive on Puntland Propaganda Economic Political Military Security Social Looks like by all means available from all corners. Officially co-ordinated or not. Looks Shabab are on the move. They have taken a town in Central as well from SFG. -
here is main points what he said: 1. Ethiopia is on top group in ground and airforce of the continent 2. Navy needs to be modernized and strengthened we need to develop that part 3. I was extremely proud of what the armed forces did during the recent transition. Very professional 4. This professionalism with the keeping the country safe need to continue 5. Coming wars will be proxies not direct confrontations. Countries have realized direct confrontation needs very high price 6. The recent crises in the country was political, economic, social and general demands of the people 7. Wars are now done by governmental and non governmental even individuals Intelligence is still the most important. We need to focus on all fields of battle from .....he did not say it directly but gest of it is from facebook to the mountain 8. The forces being reflection of the countries nationalities will continue Where is the navy - Djibouti, Port Sudan, Somaliland and or Puntland, Lamu, ...lol and if is going to get bigger where? Things he did not mention: State of emergency which he does not mention even in any meetings. Might be modified or lifted soon. Eritrea which you would expect to be mentioned in armed forces meeting Did not mention any country at all - I guess when he said all faceted relations ment sudan

Geopolitical Change, a Rising Hegemony, and Berbera Port Deal
Old_Observer replied to Aroori's topic in Politics
The confidence is that having totally autonomous self government Own language, education sytem, media to raise next generation that will be even more confident of the capabilities of the Somali Being a self governing, self managing, developing, and accumulating some wealth getting out of poverty is priority Becoming an independent country is not. That is the difference and thus the confidence difference. Killilka has no ill will or ill wish on anyone Somali or non Somali, region or country. The fact that you are wishing for the Egyptians to succeed in destroying Ethiopia is not healthy. there is a general saying that is true goes like "I do not and did not do it for you". I don't know how much you realize but what ever Egypt does in Ethiopia will even be worst for Somalia. SFG knows this and every region knows this fact. Means you have not learned lessons of 70s and 80s and what Egyptians did. -
cadnaan1, You must be sleepless now googling Tigray or kililka and waiting on your screen something Tigray or Liyu to show up. lol Google for Gen. Samora Mohamed Yonus + constitution and you will find pages and pages telling officers, trainees, soldiers, or town hall meetings the same thing.

What I said is the least of accusation or blame on Liyu is tribalism. That you do not need to check anywhere else other than the staunch opposition from kililka. Name any organization or political party in kililka that accuses Liyu of being tribal? Bad or good, wrong or proper, right level or too much force used...everything is overboard and least tribal. Remember kililka has every clan almost sub clan of the Somali people, its a microcosm of the Somali people, yet does not suffer from the political clanish troubles other places suffer from.
-
I know every region or country around kililka, except the Afar, feel uneasy of the capacity of kililka, but you sir, as a human being and particulary a Somali, how do you sleep at home with such conviction? You should immediately head to kililka, destroy Liyu and liberate the Somali people from Cannibals.

Djibouti urges Somaliland and Puntland to stop fighting
Old_Observer replied to Deeq A.'s topic in Politics
Ducale, There is kilil police, federal police, kilil militia, federal army in few places, and kilil special police force (liyu)...these are all armed institutions present in Kilil. If interogation methods is a reason..the whole world including kilika is discussing of interogation methods and improvements There is a big force in Ethiopia that does not want federal system, they were first ones out of the gates against Liyu The innocent victim of police brutality, excessive force, wrongly accused is actually not Liyu business its primarily police, courts, attorney general, prosecutor...issue. Liyu is only sent to arrest someone if the police feel at risk doing it themselves. Kililka is also poor and only sticks and kalashnikov are available. If you are too dangerous to be handled with hand or stick the next step is gun. No water cannons, tear gas...like Britain or America. A qat smuggler will never say they caught me smuggling qat. I have read where somebody tried the qabil tool but does not work that one in kililka. Liyu was put together very carefully to avoid the big problems in the Region. There are cases where we sign petitions and were addressed, but never expect me to stand with Jawar against Liyu, since Jawar aim is control of trade corridor has nothing to do with human rights or kilil rights. -
What has happened is some people have totally given up and want everything detroyed and the baby thrown with the bathwater. I think every decent Somali would say what Dahireeto said. There is always room for improvement. Ask yourself this: Why is that everyone that never likes the Somali people in Ethiopia to be strong, organized..attacks the institutions that make kililka better by Ethiopians or Somalis? Is it that all the galbeedi, Jawars, are students of Ghandi? or they don't know that Ghandi was one of the most racist individuals? Liyu will survive and kililka will survive all this facebook negative campaign. Its foundation is the people. For example: Don't you ask yourself that with all the qabil gossips and conflicts in the Somali people, Liyu is never accused or blamed of being qabilist? Is it not a sign of something good?
-
Its just difference of understanding of federal system. In Ethiopia everybody thinks first of region. I want kililka to be the wealthiest, most efficient and effective, most advanced and developed, best healthcare, best education in Ethiopia. That is positive no ill will on anyone but so much love and attention to your own. I expect the same in federal Somalia as well. A Puntlander in Somalia will think and work hard for same as Kililka does and wishes in Ethiopia. If you son't fix your house can't fix somebody's house unless you are the carpenter of the shindig..
-
Can I accuse you with your own logic? So you want to enjoy your Qatari money rain under tree shed in Mogadishu and Puntland to fight for you till she is bled to death, be bankrupt and weak and come begging for some left over and abondon its main objective of having strong economy, advance in development and peaceful and not be victim of terrorism which is known where it comes from? And what ever Puntland does cannot never get any money from UAE which is your new enemy? How does that feel?
-
Here we go another Jawar Oromo campaign. Why not openly say "we want to control the Djibouti Ethiopia corridor and the Somali is in the way". Liyu actuelly is rerly or hardly deployed. Liyu means Special so is only deployed on special operations too risky for police and kilil militia. It has been about 7 years non stop hate campaign on the Somali using Liyu as cover. It started with the Amxara saying Liyu is too much too powerful its being prepared for kililka separation. Then the Oromo for control of the trade corridor and now still the Oromo, but covering with some disgruntled Somali. Amnesty international is one of the most corrupt organizations. You can buy one of their members and get statement given or article written. Everybody knows this. They did not say a word when hundreds of Somalis were killed inside Oromia far from the border.

Geopolitical Change, a Rising Hegemony, and Berbera Port Deal
Old_Observer replied to Aroori's topic in Politics
You still getting excited and energetic everytime you see something bad or not so good comments about Ethiopia? Give it a rest. This camel has been over milked. But it has not given strength to anyone. Change another tool. 50 years is a long time to define yourself in terms of others. Can you prognosticate what you think would happen to the Somali peole if the Xabeshi packed their bags and left the horn tomorrow. Would be completely lost, because you have been looking at everything in terms of Xabeshi. That is sad. -
Geopolitical Change, a Rising Hegemony, and Berbera Port Deal
Old_Observer replied to Aroori's topic in Politics
Miyir, I felt really sorry for you if you are Somali. What happened to the self confident Somali in you and you are looking for a country which has the least to none of character. You have 7 million Somalis in Ethiopia which is an asset and a blessing by any measure. First have self confidence that you can do most of things you need yourself. Then look for good friends not some one who has no dignity, self worth or self respect. I know a lot of people in kililka that used to live in Mogadishu. They came to kililka for vacation or maybe weather is better....what do you think. They happen to be influential folks in Kililka. Look at yourself first before jumping to Ethiopia or Egypt. If I see it from an Ethiopian stand point only you choosing Egypt as protector is best thing that can happen. Ask Eritrea who has chosen Egypt instead of Turkey for a friend.
