Exactly. Would never accept in kililka less than 35%. And Liyu paid by federal for 5 years. All wars troubles conflicts that come with oil is not worth it. Equalization the Canada method is best or poor areas flock to oil economy areas like Texas. For sure there is always Texas and Mississipi or Alabama.

lol good one. -
lol Shouldn't you atleast quote someone other than Oromopride Opride is Oromopride unless you didn't mind to get analysis of the situation. Example the meeting just started. And Oromopride writes details. How does one know what is being said. As far as release of Andargachew even Beqele Gerba the Oromo leader that was released said the same just public sentiment not TPLF leaders comment. But what ever makes you happy. Ethiopia called on Eritrea for implementing algiers agreement.

Ifiye, So far so good, general unity of the Somali people is holding even in the opposition. There is a small group among the opposition that has openly sided with the Oromo, but are not expected to cross the line to the extent tto undermine Somali status.

Paul Kagame of Ruanda became first visitor to Addis Ababa. Got a cow and calf a gift he truly likes as a rancher. now Farmaajo can be 2nd if it does not work the other way. PM of Somalia was 3rd or 4th among PMs or heads of governments. Al Bashir does not count he is an Ethiopian. President Farmaajo should have gone to security conference in Ethiopia. Now PM Abiy is going to Uganda.....my schedule falling further and further.

This still has not happened. Blame Somalia 1. The president wants to look anti-Ethiopia for cheap Mogadishu style politics 2. Security situation too dangerous 3. President and PM too competitive and conflicting ways Blame Ethiopia 1. Kililka is not happy with Mogadishu 2. New PM not realized value of the visit to people both countries 3. Afraid of Saudi Arabia Blame the world 1. Great Britain not wanting it 2. Uganda absolutely not wanting it 3. Egypt asked Saudis and UAE to pressure Ethiopia not to do it

Ethiopian flag la suray xafiiska dowlada hoose Hargeisa
Old_Observer replied to cadnaan1's topic in Politics
For your information Ethiopia's nationalities day is celebrated everywhere there are Ethiopians. In America or Russia mayors governors and some places like Ruanda, Sudan, Ghana even heads of states participate. It is not unique to Somalia. Some cities in California raise Ethiopian flag at city halls. But then again Ethiopia is this football Somalis play against each other without any health benefits for the sport or entertainment value. Almost always with accusations over pointless things. What is wrong sharing happy day of your neighbor. Mengistu was monster, Emperial rule was monster..people got rid of both systems at the same time. -

Its the same as what you see in America - Russia collusion- They all know have to work with Russia, but accuse each other of who is closer. lol Aidiid was closest to Mengistu until the Bay Bakool area catastrphe and then Mengistu did not last and the new boys in Addis were the opposite side its automatic. Contrary to the false but popular belief Somaliand had always distance from Ethiopia Mengistu or Meles. If Aidiid was to win and Mengistu survived would have been Somalia Ethiopia friendly countries. Mogadishu has propaganda power, what goes under the rag and truth are always different. Kenyans don't suffer from this, only some looser Odinga complained once, but when he saw need for Ethiopian military need when Kenya went almost Ruanda during one election then he shut up. -
Ducale, Are these professions complimentary. The first one I wish, the second one not necessary these days.

My friend. You know from life that quarels between siblings are stronger than between friends or neighbors. Even the Americans small states war lords then could not copy the british unitary system, they went to federations, confederations, almost independent provinces. The Somali people of HOA never lived under one rule, and the Somali people in the republic only for 30 years lived under one rule/government. Only longer than one generation not enough to have coehesive one centralized govt. Ethiopia in 1991 survived, the only reason was federalism, self government. The Somali region itself would not have survived intact. Beleieve it or not, was the Somalis who first formally demanded it in Ethiopia.

You are among a very rare folks that had any idea or have given it a thought before the PM spoke about doubling it. I am not sure how Somalis or Eritreans, the ones most surprised and increduleous by this issue, thought Ethiopia was running. Most people have no clue what they are facing. Only saying such and such is enemy without a clue.

7th National Security council meeting in Baidoa
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
That is the bottom truth. I would only remind you that the Americans distribute among their client states. Kenya, Uganda, Djibouti, even Sudan each have some contribution. Baidoa or Jowhar are the only two places that Somalia can stand on its two feet. 27 years of fighting in Mogadishu between the two families there is enough. Either one of them should have won by now or both should accept outside group and not be obstacle. Its a stalemate in Mogadishu. You remember when Addis Ababa was stalemate, you remember when kililka was stalemate...nothing gets done..you can not have government bad or good in stalemate. Give it some thought galbeedi, The other day (evening) someone in the group of us raised a question: Why the Adal, Ifat and other sultanates of the Somali/Argoba/Hareri/Afar people never recover, reappear in 600, 300, 200 years? Puntland reconstituted the Boqor in 100 years, even Tigray reconstituted the Xabeshi 100 years (since unlike what we normally say Xabeshi the Tigray are the original and complete Xabeshi). Maybe after end of the holy month, I would like to know what you think, atleast about the Adal that was so high up even went to expand and get submission from Xabeshi, but after being defeated just only once disappeared never to rise again to date. -
Thank you for the laugh. You always have a lighter side to you. Ghelleh is an Ethiopian at heart(money/power). BTW 4 senators and a congressman are in Ethiopia, Somalia is in meeting national security of governors and federal government and president, Pentagon is saying cut in half its forces in Somalia, Terrorists attacking Puntland, ...to many things to be coincidental. Actually what you irridentists need to be very afraid is that Somaliland can take over the recognition of Djibouti. That is always an option available for Somaliland. Might be even less risky less costly come to think of it. It is also in the minds of some influential businessmen in Djibouti. That for you would be: Loosing dropping what is in your arm pits trying to reach over the cupboard for something not sure of.

7th National Security council meeting in Baidoa
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
USA will be cutting down on its deployment in Somalia. 1. Other more important missions against developed countries like Russia, Iran..etc are more useful 2. Too much public disatisfaction of risks in Niger, Somalia.. 3. Too many civilian casualties with Drones etc Are some of the reasons. Could this affect Somalia government? Could America contract this work to Uganda or Kenya instead? https://www.nation.co.ke/news/US-special-forces-in-Somalia-facing-major-cuts/1056-4595338-142esv3/index.html -
Che, This becomes the chicken or egg argument. We just have to choose one and move ON. In my view no country will ever allow any other country that threatens its existance. As long as there are some Somalis who think the destruction of Ethiopia is our ticket to one happy Somalia, don't expect Ethiopia also will have some of them that think the opposite. Its human nature. But as a country policy should be different than the man on the street. Why can't Somalia see Ethiopia just like Kenya or Djibouti. Try it might work. After all nothing to loose. The other way has been tried and destroyed big dreams. Try something that costs less and when achieved might be rewarding. It would be very funny if Djibouti and Ethiopia do some arrangement that makes them work as one country, similar to EU. Sudan and Kenya see this possiblity and are trying on one hand not to miss it.

I think its temporary problem by some politicians who do not realize in the long term that if the Oromo does not have peace with neighbors let alone 30 million even 200 million is not enough to get peace by force. Invasion is too old of an idea whose time has passed long ago. The Somali people (95%) in the 1940s/50s had an ooportunity to come under one country, one flag, one government. The strongest country then Britain was enthusiastic about it. Yet who failed this idea was Somalis. Failing that Britain offered Zeila to Ethiopia, Ethiopia refused thinking that the British are offering Zeila because they want to keep Eritrea. lol Stupidest assumption, most costly mistake Ethiopia did in 20th century. As long as the east (Somali Afar) and Tigray in north have say, rest assured no force will be used against anyone for territory gain or rule other peoles. These people know the pain, wasted time, missed opportunity in their history. Are victims of that excercise.

Yes. Ethiopia is poor, technologically backward country, but what you are missing in the federalism issue is this: Whether Canada, India, Somalia, Ethiopia, Russia or others, chose federalism because they have big problems and federalism was better answer to those problems. Some people say that why do the Somali people with same language, same Ethnic, same culture...need federalism. What they are missing big reason is the Somali people in written history have never been under one sultanate, one Boqor, one empire. That is crucial, is very to most important factor in governing/ruling. In my view the notion that Ethiopia is main bottle neck for reconstituting the Republic is poorest excuse and peddled by cowardly and corrupt politicians who do not want to tell the truth, who do not want to work hard, who do not want to face risk.
-
Agree with your analysis, but you give too much weight to what some Amhara elite culture. That is what they did in Ertrea and look what they got 100 years of missed opoortunity making ethiopia poor, backward and very weak. Tigray and Afar and now the Somali are mostly opposed to any geopolitical changes done by force. What comes by force will be opposed by force and as time goes by one of the forces will win, most likely the one taken over by force will win. That is almost all of human history. If you take over by economy, technological development, culture you have a better chance of lasting longer, no hate and no losses. Djibouti does not need importing people. The people of Djibouti both have no animosity to Ethiopia historically or at present. From President Ghelleh to rdinary Djiboutians don't see Ethiopia as this monster or "natural enemy". And now that the kililka is becoming an entitty in Ethiopia Djiboutians may even be looking at the next PM of Ethiopia being Somali. Why not think the other way. The Somali in Ethiopia is third largest Ethnic, strategic location, nomadic independent and confident culture, ..that is a lot of assets....political maturity economic development are only two main factors being worked upon.
