I agree with your galbeedi guesses and investigative hat, but even with all that American, UAE, Saudi, Egyptian support he can only go so far. Ethiopia is worst than Somalia when it comes to coehesion. Its also very poor. Nomads can survive better hard times than farmers or city people. 100 million people and poor country. America and Israel have to have northerners either Tigray or Amhara for insurance, can't clean them out. Its a storm now...who ever can whether the storm will survive and rise again. That is my advice to Ghelleh, Al Bashir, Turkish business in Ethiopia, Tigray. For Iley is get ready for anything including to be a country.
-
But America, UAE, Saudi, Egypt are supporting fully and for America the Oromo is more amenable than Tigray who never left Sudan friendship and China while serving America as well. You are right there is already some signs the Oromo will not stay united.

Addis Ababa police is for too lax security. Apparently there were close to a million people, somebody said 5 million a police commissioner no less, but the area is known and a million should be enough. Ex Mengistu officials are most ardent supporters. Anybody but Tigray is their motto. Easy to see whay Tigray was main force to destroy 1/2 million army with some latest at the time weapons and threw them out totally.

It will. These days with all video audio evidence in everyones hand. Police are telling people to hand in all recording. They broadcasted on TV Radio and the PM spoke on TV lol Eritrea was first to condemn and most repeated on TV Radio of Eritrea condemning and then came Ginbot 7 condemning

So far officially is the police are being investigated for too lax of security. The Federal police said that many people who had staff that should have not been allowed were everywhere and this is weakness of the police. They will probably retire them or send them some other part of the country. Grapevine: It was female that threw the bomb (confirmed by police now) and it was paid mercenaries who do not know by face or identity those who sent them. By phone from another country. lol There is just too many players and mostly connected to Eritrea or Egypt that PM seemed to be friendly lately. Lay of the land internally: Oromo mostly support, but organized forces that question his actions too close to Gurage G7 groups and Amhara groups Tigray mostly support but organized forces that question going too far in bringing Oromos everywhere so fast lol Somali and Afar main red line no interference inside kilils. Somali kilil is so protective that some official said "we would like to get rid of khat business, but as long as is running through or in our territory, let a Somali run that too" lol Amhara is all over the map since they have 5 million in Oromia they don't want to do anything. Yet the Amhara mostly are saying that Tigray is being replaced by Oromo. We lost again and next might come the Somali....kind of hopeless situation. South is mess except the Gurage who are counting on him helping them displace Tigray from business. That was their job and monopoly in Ethiopia befre 1991. Somali in Ethiopia is not known for business and now when few were starting.... The job looks like inside job.

The Showdown between Michael Keating and Muuse Biixi has begun
Old_Observer replied to Mourad1's topic in Politics
You would be amazed at how things wre interconnected. Nothing in politics is a coincidence. Even if you say are not related there is nothing to prevent one taking advantage of somebody else's bad or good situation.- 23 replies

I can't laugh at your insenuation. There are people killed and wounded. There is already news that the Police are asking for all recordings by individuals in that area or far that shows that area to them. They are asking individuals not to put it on social media, they will be punished if did so, but hand it to police. Amazing the police did not have drone, from buildings all high rises around from the railroad over the field....anywhere to where the PM is.

Assassination attempt today Zimbabwean president
Old_Observer replied to cadnaan1's topic in Politics
Both are in the same boat. In Zimbabwe the new president is one who spent life time as close associate of the old president. He is being pushed to destroy Mugabe, but is not doing it. In Ethiopia the new PM is one who spent life in EPRDF. there are people who want him to destroy the northeners and Somali kilil, he is not doing it. They both need to make new image without alienating both the old opposition, new opposition, and anyone worried and watching. Tough job to do in Africa. Africans cannot live without political enemy. If there is none can create one. As if Technological backwardness, poverty is not number one enemy. Its very easy to create political enemy, but very difficult to call poverty an enemy. The first one you ffight the second one you have to work hard. -
So far follow the Sherock Holmes principle of investigation. Everybody is a suspect and work by elimination. Those who are most suspects will condemn it first, condemning on facebook does not cost anything. Was it an assasination attempt or one made to look like one? that is first question.

Assassination attempt on Ethiopian prime minister today in Addis.
Old_Observer replied to cadnaan1's topic in Politics
I agree we will see coming few days who is blamed for it. For now all Ethiopian media is repeating that Eritrea condemned it. That is the only news repeating. We will see. -
Why is Eritrea first country and most repeated in the news of its condemnation. Do they know something others don't?

Assassination attempt on Ethiopian prime minister today in Addis.
Old_Observer replied to cadnaan1's topic in Politics
I think others are more worried of him than the supposed suspects by facebook. I think we should wait and see. If the whole thing disappears from Media then its a false flag. If the government comes out max a day and tells the whole story then I believe it, depending of the details. Becareful it can be directed against Somali as well, through just Ethnic association, even through Al Shabab being made suspect. Politics is dirty business. -
Thanks. People can't see that Abiy needed that visit for himself and for those behind him, more than for Ethiopia or Somalia. As for me I had given up already when Abiy did not make Somalia in first tier countries to visit. That was very telling.

Assassination attempt on Ethiopian prime minister today in Addis.
Old_Observer replied to cadnaan1's topic in Politics
If I am going to be cynical or conspiratorial, RIP for the dead and quick healing for the wounded, but nothing official has come out yet on something that happened in broad day light and hundreds of police around. The whole thing smells. 100 people were killed in Ukraine by mercenaries sharp shooters from Georgia and Poland, on demnstrators, just to overthrow a government. We will see what the Ethiopian government says about the suspects. -
Somalia government terminates Somaliland Special Arrangement with donors
Old_Observer replied to Saalax's topic in Politics
I feel like its an issue that has no benefit to the Somali people one way or another. The SFG should never ever object different parts of the Somali people getting help from anywhere and from anybody. This whole thing is no win for anyone. EU also can be scandalized. Its a big organization. -
Its looking more like Ukraine. Remember that the current president of Ukraine laying flowers and those who died were made 100 so its more catchy. They call them "the saintly hundred". Guess what. The killers were non other than mercenaries brough in a day before from Georgia and Poland. A court none other than a Ukrainian court has confirmed this in the open. People were burned alive in Odessa. All to make the "revolution" look like facing Russia. You will see now evidence being changed story lines changed for an act that happened in the open. Already started saying "we are still searching" lol. RIP the dead but all this to make image of the PM looks concerted. You would think the suspect would have been captured and even information given to public by now.

That is possible, but the one with Ghelleh looks new, even the security folks are new at least one of them the one behind Abiy is new. Regardless there is an attitude now that Americans are running the show. Everybody else is quiet. The Chinese looks like have gone into hiding. Turkey also the same. I agree that international meetings are not protocol with Ethiopia, but what they do is one to one meeting on side. Abiy will be doing a deservice to Ethiopia not to Somalia if he follows the Bedew with money to a tee. The Somali people and Oromo or Xaeshi will always be neighbours for good orr bad. Your neighbor is most important.
-
Possible. There has been talk and even on media from Eritrea and Eritrea based organizations accusing the Tigray. This is I think reverse psychology to make Tigray easy blame. I do not think it will work. If it works then could be end of Ethiopia. Iley should be ready to be president of new country. Join Joubuti and no need to fight for recognition. The next day new country business as usual.
-
MMA, This is worst than the infamous chair. The optics is just terrible and obvious as to Why. galbeedi, What happened here/ Meles never went to airport if its international meeting. Sudan was always exception, but Bashir used to come a day or two ahead of the meeting. Ghelleh is not in his usual posture when in Ethiopia. Al Bashir never shows on his face anything from long time. Kenya guy gets same instructions as PM Abiy.

History, the killing of 80 Somali officers 1978 by @harummaruf.
Old_Observer replied to cadnaan1's topic in Politics
That was first and crucial mistake commited by Somalia. Disunity was already there even while the war was going reasonably OK. It became an invasion rther than liberation. Was downhill from there. I think the Government of Somalia wanted to take full credit for the expected victory and they forgot that bravery in battle is only half way to victory. Unless you achieve your objective, which was never achievable the way conducted, liberation, so much bravery is just story for individuals. -
UAE What stupidity is happening in Ethiopia. They already forgot that governments come and go but the people are there and will be there always. This is also some ways disrespect for kililka. The Oromo have now America and UAE and can't see further than their noses.

President Isaias Afwerki to send a delegation to Addis Ababa
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Mourad, I think we understand each other well. I might have a leaning to Tigray you might have leaning to Oromo, but that is small compared to both wanting the Somali people to have something better than current situaton everywhere. I am not as concerned about this or that country as long as the Somali people do well everywhere. In the future the unity will come either through EU kind in Horn of Africa or something. But unless the Somali is doing well in at least one or 2 countries, cannot take advantage of anything. -
President Isaias Afwerki to send a delegation to Addis Ababa
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
There was cartoon made by Amin Amir that showed Aweys and Shiek Sherif talking about Tigray this Tigray that...when Young Aidiid tells them that there is more Tigray power here in Eritrea than in Ethiopia. That was priceless. A lot of Somali don't have that information. Isayas is only 2nd or maybe 3rd generation in Eritrea. He is fully both sides of parents from Tigray. Meles Mother was from Eritrea.
