Abdikarim Qalbi-Dhagax Released from Prison
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Why do you expect and wait and hope on others in Ethiopia to do something which you should. If others do it, they do it for themselves first. Never forget the principle "I do not and I did not do it for you". You just happened to be same objective otherwise I do it for myself. So in this way the next time Somalis have problem with their leader, replacement of Iley the Amhara need to be called to remove him or who ever is in Ethiopia then. -

The last I know Liyu is paid by kililka. It gets armed, trained, unifomed by the federal government partly until it was in development. Liyu is part of the Ethiopian foraml and official system as kililka is. Hope you saw it. -
You are mistaken my friend. Its absolutely siesmic and is foreign interests driven for the most part and mainly. America is full time executing its own and also UAE's for the most part. Eritrea is business of UAE and Saudi completely maybe Egyptians as well. American interest is China limiting or rolling back, stability in Ethiopia and privatizing big companies. The idea behind this is that the government gets autonomy from foreign influence if it has its own means of income. Privatizing makes any Ethiopian government totally dependent on foreigners. Every body who is not involved or the changes are against is laying low and taking it. Americans already want to limit the changes already, because if they totally shift completely then they completely can loose the system which is still China centic, EU centric and Turkey etc Centric. But basically is not internally driven. Don't forget you can pay a million dollars and have a million people at rally any time anywhere. Close realative/some say half brother of Mengistu is in Addis Ababa. So far 3 Oromo organizations all variants of OLF are in Ethiopia.

I understand your point. Its the weakness of people who have never had common government they call their own and jump to government of others everytime they have a flu. Its temporary and Ghelleh might come in handy before this sickness goes to Djibouti. If this thing continues the Afar might get involved and the whole thing will blow up in Djibouti with UAE little help which is very bad for kililka. -
People do not realize that ONLF and OLF are more enemies and never worked together even against so called common enemy. There is a reason for that. Abdi Iley is young man of recent OLF is 50 years old and if we add WSLF days to ONLF its also as much old. Iley may not have been born when these two started.

The difference is farming dominated, nomad dominated, hunter gatherer dominated....etc societies. The farmer has to build permamnet home, solid home and is attached to the land, to constructing durable buildings, needs roads even for his animals. The nomad has temporary home, not much effort required or wasted, no attachment to specific land in particular and will even fight and take if other land grass is greener. Can stay and chit chat under tree shed all day while his herd are feeding themselves. Its a big cultural difference. The nomad thinks he is upper class and farmer is second class. The nomad does not realize that its moving up to stop going after camels and settle with little farming, little industry and in generation or so forget the animals all together, but keep the nomad mentality longer.

They don't even need to talk about it, let alone negotiate. The Oromos do it for their own OLF and the Oromos do it for Egypt/Eritrea sponsored G7. ONLF does not need to negotiate or give anything for this. ONLF will stay out of this gold rush of politics in Ethiopia as guarantee to the kililka people. If anything goes wrong and peace is disturbed in Kililka then there is organized force outside of the Ethiopian system for any need. Kililka should even help them financially if they need. They can train and stay in Jubaland or somewhere else close or play hide and seek to remind the Oromo lol. -
Ethiopia Will not Continue to Designate ONLF a Terrorist Group
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Holac, You were the last person on this SOL, I would have expected this kind of categorization. Its to be expected from the likes of galbeedi and etc, but not from you. Why does the Somali people are considered good to ally with somebody, but somebody to ally with the Somali people? Why is it that the first thing a Somali with difference with other Somali goes to name each other by foreigners to both of them? Why is it that the Oromo are most interested and restless trying to find a crack in the clans more than anyone else in Ethiopia? The facts on the ground so far: Almost all Somali people in kililka realize that clan politics this time will finish off what little has been achieved in unity and respectability for the Somali people. There is no other Somali enclave to help if kililka falter and became prey to Ethiopian Ethnic fights and politics . Mogadishu, HirShebele, Hiiran, Bay Bakool, Puntland, Somaliland, Jubaland NFD....no one is organized enough strong enough wealthy enough..to do enything at all. Kililka is for good or bad the most capable at this time. Fortunately all around bordering including the Afar are on kililka side with exception of the obvious. -

And now will do it from Addis Ababa with one or two Somali Oromos who graduated from the Soros Institute of social chaos and destruction of tradition and culture. See how Egypt was killed. All we heard about Mubarek this Mubarek that is gone yet worst is happeneing. but not mentioned let alone to be everywhere from facebook to NYT. Mission accomplished move on. I wish the Oil and gas business gets delayed if not cancelled next 5 years. -
Constitution would be my only and first item of business, if I were in the republic. Without that its a non starter to do anything else. Bad or good there must be a common reference everybody knows. Those who don't like it know what to change and those who like it know what to develop further and keep. And every otehr issue peope know what to give what to take compromise. No common reference nothing can get accomplished. The name of reconciliation day is good, but there is never reconciliation without knowing fully well what happened. Whether between individual nomads, between villages, clans etc...You lay down what happened and then agree remedy, forgiveness, etc.

"Where ever there is oil, there is trouble. If we give contract to an American company other companies immdiately go to next tribe and start trouble. Ethiopia should never deal with oil until and unless we can do at least 80% of the work ourselves." Meles Zenawi ONLF will not repeat what they did last time. They were paid specifically for that mission and admitted. It has earned them scorn and loss of major support. The idea was good to stop, but the way they did it was terrible. They even did not want to take hostages. For freedom fighters that is a no no. As for oil...The formulae has to be public What effect it will have on nomads, people in the affected area What will be the side benefits and has to be upfront roads should be completed, airports completed, dams part of package completed before a drop of oil. Security should be done all by Somali and Liyu paid from Federal money. local Ethiopian labour should be Somali unless technically/technologically and managerially justified All this is if the formulae of sharing is satisfactory. Qatar for gas and other Arabs for oil will be all trouble too.

Sorry I did not realize it was the topic until too late. I have edited it. As regards to your focus on Iley and his administration, you and folks like you put the Somali in uncomforatble position to choose weakening Somali unity when is under attack from many corners or stand by Iley for what may come which will not be worst than your ideas. This Tigray thing is just a red herring now. If the Oromo are too chickened of the Somali, they should just come straight and ask what the Somali wants. Don't beat around the bush and in the process raise issues that are not in any Somali peoples' benefit. The Tigray need the Somali and the Somali needed the Tigray. You cannot even appreciate the fact that the Somali people were protected from being exposed to soldiers from other cultures. You cannot appreciate just that one, I guess you don't know how that breaks society. Kililka is poor, technologically backward, but is quintesencially Somali. The bad, the good and ebven the ugly is all kililka. The ugly will be made bad and the bad will be made good very soon.

Erdogan is leading election after 76% of ballots count
Old_Observer replied to galbeedi's topic in Politics
Thank you for calling me out on that. On the other hand Meles was sincere, that term 3rd was going to be his last. He already started the change whole sale in TPLF. If he as he did stated it in TPLF its for sure he would have ended his term in 2015. He was also series in writing books. Bold and underlined. That is my reason and only reason. After Meles people felt quite lost, because guys like that are dictators in a way even when they may not be that way in their past. -

I like Turkey but leaders should have shelf life. After that they are defending their mistakes and not thinking forward. Erdogan now will be very busy about Kurds. They will also have more support in Turkey since most of the opposition prefers peaceful solution. If you think Trump is harrased in America, Erdogan will face more. Opposition will give up of fighting him democratically. If Erdogan wants to work relatively peacefully focus on China Russia Iran. -
ADDIS ABABA, June 27 (Reuters) - Ethiopia will begin extracting crude oil on a test basis from reserves in the country’s southeast this week, state-affiliated media and the prime minister’s office said on Wednesday. Fitsum Arega, chief of staff in Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s office, said on Twitter that Abiy had met with officials from Poly-GCL Petroleum Investment Limited to “officially kick-start crude oil production test in Ogaden Region”. “The company has discovered that there is a prospect of commercial quantities of crude oil in the region,” Fitsum wrote. The firm is a joint venture of state-owned China POLY Group Corporation and Hong Kong-based Golden Concord Group. The state-affiliated Fana media quoted Abiy as saying 450 barrels would be produced on Thursday on a trial basis.

galbeedi, Why didn't you bring the most important news for you, the oil well to be drilled announced by Abiy? Why this go around to bring civil war among Somalis? What do you gain? Why is the area where the pipeline to pass more useful to you than the area where the prospective well is? Why cover with Iley why not say the main motivation for you the trade route?

This have been obvious for some time from our galbeedi here. galbeedi, You tried in so many ways even faith stating the Oromo closeby are Muslims. That did not work. It has been long time the incessant Tigray this Tigray Iley...But you never denied the Iley achieved fairly good unity of Somali, fairly good respectability for the Somali people. Is this from FBI investigators? lol You have no limits to how low you can go. incredible. -

So. Does it mean you are willing to give away full autonomy of the Somali people for a piece of the khat trade route that the Oromo want to control and you to become an assistant? The principle is this. We wish and will work to get rid of this product, but as long as its legal and there is money to be made on it, let our own people benefit from it. Let our people contreol it rather than be victims of it. You know the facts on the ground, from your posts year ago. Its the Somali, Oromo and Hareri. The Somali of course to some degree suffers from the Qabil problem everywhere to lesser but none the less existent. The one weakness of the Somali is that in any argument, conflict goes looking for ally outside his society. Most people in kililka are against this culture. Even in worst case if you have to fight, do it with your brother in house. Don't use outsiders, since reconciliation is impossible. You start a new cycle of changing "masters". "I do not do it for you, I did not do it for you" is a book written about Eritrea and Ethiopian liberation movements. Never forget its the same everywhere. Those whom you are advocating for, do what they do for themselves. Oromo, Tigray, Amhara do what they do for themselves first. You are only an afterthought. An add on. Its about time and is almost in a position the Somali think independently then no problem choosing allies friends...but don't start from choosing allies first. Allies to do what? Jawar looks for galbeedi only and only when its impossible to do it by himself for himself. In anycase the Oromo would be foolish to start making our galbeedi happy by interfering in Kililka. They have more at stake than Kililka. The possibility of them loosing if it goes to confrontation is much much higher than the Somali. -

galbeedi, Isn't it very sad and humiliating that we are talking about 7 million Somali people, but always in terms of outsiders? When are people going to think in terms of the Somali first and then allies and competitors and een enemies get identified? Do you realize what you are saying? The Oromo is better than Tigray, the Somali would rather be Oromo..etc. How humiliating is that? There is enough confidence now in terms of capacity for public administration, education, health and social services (not pension etc but at least help that comes from outside world can be applied in organized and fair way based on need) also fairly sized and organized militia/police. Its time to think the autonomy strengthening more. Ethiopia can operate outside periphery of kililka, but inside should be business of the Somali. I hope you understand what it means. My argument will never be Tigray is better than Oromo. That would be ultimate humiliation. I even dislike very much people who frame it that way. It literally means the Somali cannot stand on his own feet he needs Oromo, Tigray or Amhara. That is sad when some of you do it for expediency. -
So now we agree that Iley is keeping kililka united. I am sure you have different area of interest and many times have stated that Iley must go. As you said the Somali is probably most significant. but is not integrated in Ethiopia. The Somali has most autonomy. Whether from the heart or the sleeve, demonstration these days are dime a dozen. They always accuse each other in Ethiopia whether that was paid or that was paid. Jawar will be full time focused on Kililka, Somali, Iley...that you vcan be sure. Oromo is not connected to Djibouti, but if Oromo convert some Somali like you, you are as good as Oromo. Even better because you can be Somali Oromo or Oromo Somali your choice.

Gabre or no Gabre Mugadishu has been sick for a long time, long before Gabre even entered Meqele. As for Jawar he is seriously funded and wants to stay from out of the government at least in public because he can manufacture stories or manage leaks. Professional Soros graduate. Not Iley as person, but Kililka is number one focus of Jawar. Iley happens to be in the way as big stone. People like Jawar are good at what they do. He can give leak to some uncknown west african site or news paper and then quote that paper. So much circular news until you feel dizzy and belive that the whole world is saying the same thing. -

Jawar will not rest until: Oromo control the trade route Oromo control the khat route A lot of districts are taken from Kililka and made Oromia He has openly spoken some 10 years ago that, if it wasn't for Weyannie, Oromo should have taken such such districts. The Oromo want to control the Djibouti line either directly or converting the Somali and making them little Oromo. This is critical for autonomous or independent Oromo. -
In deed. They even had war of words with Puntland some years ago about ICU/Shabab. If I remember correctly Puntland caught some that came from Eritrea training.
