Why Djibouti is the loser of the horn of Africa’s new peace
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
Isayas and Abiy have already taken a short cut. 20,000 Eritrean soldiers are in Ethiopia maybe around Addis Ababa to prevent any coup that can be contemplated. There is already army movement from Eritrea in the areas bordering Afar in Ethiopia and Djibouti. Ghelleh should not do anything at all other than keeping what he has and securing it. -
Ahmed Madoobe humiliates Farmaajo's appointment from Gedo region
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
It is always like that PMs don't like Federalism, but were advocates when in kilil. Its the same in developed countries. But the Oromo are different people from east to west north to south, its kilil that gave them power and influence and fairly united them. No Oromo party wants to give this away most of all their QERO/Shebab. -
UAE Central Bank injects 50 USD million cash in Somaliland Central Bank

September was the project start supposed to be for Somaliland. We will see, but I don't think so. There is just so much to do in Eritrea. Old cranes in disuse for 20 years are rusted and unsafe, ports are too small. Roads never used in many parts for 20 years. For kililka would have been beneficial Somaliland and Puntland which cover most of kililka, but no direct role. -

Ethiopia cannot last a day without federalism now. The country is addicted to it for ill or good mostly for good. The Oromo need Federalism as much as Somali and Afar. These three would go to war to save federalism against anybody. South there is Sidama that want to kilil status from zone, Oromo would not even have relation would just break apart if their kilil is changed. Tigray has 4 ethnics, but are most stable and will stand with Afar anyway. -

Just in time when Ethiopia has taken off ONLF from terrorist list. lol Kismayo has been through these threats and changing of guard one too many times, you think you can go on another circle on this history. How about you ask kililka for peacekeepers Liyu? -

Good thinking, but why do you want to die with something that is dying. You missed the opportunity a century ago I would say accept that and move on. When you have the technology or is low risk then use it on your own or your own control. Don't forget charcoal is still big business in many parts of the world. -

By all accounts UAE is moving shop to Massawa and Assab. They think that can do more damage to Djibouti than Berbera could. But still since they don't want to give away Berbera and Bassaso to the competition, they are doing token to keep you all waiting. Very unfortunate. You guys should have moved fast to build modern road to Ethiopia even with your bare hands. Build the trap and they will come. Even kililka would have joined with bare hands. -

You are the one who is attaching everything Somali to Oromo, Tigre etc. Not me. Don't get all worked out in Ethiopian system. Its more complex than Oromo or Tigre. I am not sure if its fortunate or unfortunate, but there has never been any empire in history that wants Ethiopia to not exist. -

I have never changed my fundamental conviction that unless the Somali secures his house in this or that fenced yard, will be allowing everyone to come into his house through window, door even the roof. Self government is the basis of every noble idea to be achieved. You can live under world government, region government, but if you don't have self government in your city, in your district, in your province...you cannot jump and play higher and be successful. If you cannot govern your own kins and folks according to their culture, language, tradition and develop, what makes you think you can jump high above, more territory, more peoples....will be easier? The one thing constant kililka needs is development. Without that will only be football of never ending regime changes. -

Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
If you are not in the horn, you are a nobody. That is just nature, geography both natural and human. That has been and still is the show of important powers big and small. That is what the the Romans, the Persians, the Portuguese, the British, the French, the Chinese, the Ottomans, the Soviets, the Americans...anyone that made a name for themselves had to show up in the horn. The Arabs have to also show up in the horn to be somebody even a middleman. No existence of any significance can be claimed if you don't show up in the horn and succeed in hoisting your flag. If the British take Kenya, trust me the french could care less, If the Americans take Kenya the soviets could care less. The horn is a different story. That is why no matter how strong anyone in the horn home boys will be tripped by his own brother working for another one that wants to have foot in the horn. The Somali which after 2 centuries experience can now be called unfortunately has the most in the horn and gets the most beating, suffering, pays highest price...maybe smaller part would have been manageable. The British even in their heyday did not want and were not interested in more horn than what they really needed. They were happy and even helped Italians to take more than they can chew just so the french would not take it. -

This thing looks more ugly in appearance more than what it is. Farmaajo should have been careful, extremely careful especially for the appearance. The more somebody is demonized, in this case Moodabe, the more being pushed to find allies elsewhere for which he will find a dime a dozen. Why can't Farmaajo spend a week in Kismayu, visit around together with Moodabe. You have to take risk. Remote struggle from facebook will only make matters worst. -
Why Djibouti is the loser of the horn of Africa’s new peace
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
The Arabs are trying to maintain their position, which is white man, Arab, African in that order. They are not going to invest much in Eritrea Assab, Bassaso or Berbera. They will just do enough to prevent Djibouti from eliminating the Arab middleman position. The Arabs had been middle man for Romans, slave trade, ottomans, Americans...over Africans. They cannot and will not allow an African to play without middleman. Other Africans will always be available to bring him down and force him to hire a middleman. Ethiopia and Eritrea are more than happy to do that on Djibouti. They will try to force Djibouti to accept a middleman. I hope Djibouti to hire British or French middleman instead of Arab. Still under middleman to America, but more autonomous middleman in Europe than Arab middleman. -

And what do you think made the Sidama move. They had kilil for some months some 20 years ago. Have been demanding this and they see an opportunity to do it now. That was the violence. You can blame Tigray 24/7 but the people and the problems and the poverty and underdevelopment is still sitting there. There are problems that don't go away whether you have Tigray, Oromo or anyone else. They are good to use for attacking someone, but will be recycled the same way. Yes there is flux and confusion in Ethiopian power and political structure right now. The Oromo are only changing alliance from one Tigray to another. By all account they are hoping it will work. Should the Somali follow that? I am sure Tillamook will say emphatic yes. OK then what happens if the project is against other Somalis. Remember Kililka has relatively best seat in the house. Somalis in Ethiopia participate their portion, but are not fighting to rule Ethiopia. That is what you are missing. Don't get to deep into Ethiopia. If you wanted to maintain yourself government when Amhara were in power, do the same when anyone else is in power as well. Don't you change your fundamentals with every regime change in Ethiopia. That is the difference. -

First of all why all this oil talk now? This oil has been there known, contracts awarded, long before anybody knew there was oil in Saudi Arabia. ASAP will not work now at this time, what will work is maintain the Autonomy, do as much as possible economic development, manage your own security inside kilil, make the people to see and truly be convinced they are Somali first before anything else. Then you have choices and can choose based on the situation. Right now you will be going against America, against UAE, against Saudi, against Egypt as it is. Just consolidate and enhance what you have achieved so far should be priority. I know its difficult to do for the independent minded and quick to action nomad, but there are times you stay low invisible if possible and do work that has to be done all times, development. -

As it is unless UAE invests about half a billion dollars in Assab alone and double the money to do it within a year or two, Eritrea will need 10 years to just get where Djibouti one port is right now. There is 4 ports in Djibouti and about 3 are ready for use including existing one. Then you have dry port functional, train, good roads. experienced workers...etc As far as putting in one basket, depends what UAE and America are telling them to do. -

You can't do that. Is not allowed. Kililka is going to pump first put the wells real down and the oil on Somaliland side will flow to Kililka wells. -
It looks like Somalilanders have some grey matter between their ears, more than the rest. It is always better to take military action after exhausting other avenues. In the end no body questions the measures. It takes same time to prepare military too and costs more.

Which ones in your opinion are the mercenaries/ Those who started it, those defending themselves, those taking advantage and amassing property and cattle? or those that will rent vehicles, sell tents, food to some humanitarian agencies? -

That is wearing thin. Its just everybody is taking advantage of the situation in claiming land or town administration power before things change in Ethiopia. There is a saying that market troubles are best fr the thief. The other thing is OK lets say the Tigray created this conflict. Don't the governments have responsibility to stop it and if capable investigate and bring culprits to court? After all if citizens feel unsecure, they take matters into their own hands and then you don't have government bad or good. -

Tigray propaganda. Are you saying nobody died is fake news? Are you saying somebody died but should not be told so that the Oromo don't look bad? -

Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
Most likely Chinese will take it lying down. They don't have anything worth risking big here. Sudan can muddy the waters a bit, but its at risk from Egypt who would do anything for America. More than anything else Ghelleh's refusal to allow his territory for war in Yemen is now being pushed as grievance by UAE. Saudi's had accepted the fact that will conduct Yemen war from Djibouti. Eritrea is now allowing unfettered access for war in Yemen. Next is Eritrea is allowing use of its sea, land for anything against Iran which Djibouti did not want to get into. Patience is virtue now for Djibouti. Al Bashir has survived 4 American presidents, 2 Saudi kings, 3 Egyptian presidents, 2 Ethiopian totally different regimes....etc. -

Just joking Time to invade Somaliland for the little that may be on their side. Time to join kililka, Djibouti and Somaliland and maybe add Puntland to one country called North Somaliland. Well will have different government than North Korea. This would eliminate Takaruq war Any sub-sub-sub clan conflicts would be settled with Liyu. No traitors to the south. Every body will be given 30 days to decide if they want to go to the south Somaliland. After that 10 years border will be closed and the two countries compete with measurables. HDI, GDP, GDP per person, Health, Education, peace and order..etc At the end of 10 years the winner just rules the loser without any negotiated things. Stryle of government, culture, everything becomes ofthe winner... NE Kenya can stay there since they are closer to take over Kenya than Puntland or Mugadishu iare to Somalia. -
How dare you wnat to make our galbeedi to think critically when it comes to Oromo. The latest is he wants them to mix with Somali and see which ever wins and does not mind if the Oromo dilute and win the Somali. On a series note why did late Z. Barre Somali Abo project fail? Somali and Oromo are mirror image of Amhara and Tigray. One of the first expulsions happened by the Amhara expelling killing burning Tigray in Gonder. 20,000 in one day that made it out of Gonder alive. The death toll was less thanks to Sudan which helped sheltering Tigray.

Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
Africans and Arabs are famous for doing these things. Calling Brother etc even when they have nothing in common. I wouldn't count too much on it. Afar and Tigray are the two that border Eritrea. PM Abiy went out of his way to tell Eritreans that they need to love Afar and Tigray. They are not listening, to emotional after being boxed for 20 years from all sides Djibouti, Sudan and Ethiopia. Ghelleh all he needs to do is keep low, no interviews to any media. They will send him BBC, CNN..to entice him to say something. No trips to foreign countries and not accept any visits from countries that are not best terms with US, UK, France... All this will blow over in a years time. All Ethiopian infrastructure is with Djibouti. He needs to ask the French to monitor the Eritrean border as did in the past. Hopefully 1 billion is not enough to make Abiy to be tool to destroy Ghelleh. That I think would be most dangerous for Ethiopian unity. Ghelleh is not saint in kililka, but if Ethiopia did anything mischevious against him to side with UAE and Eritrea, that I think would rile the Somali, Afar and Tigray not far behind.
