How can the guy resign? Its a question of even technical and logistics. About 2 months ago the party, the executive, cabinet and assembly gathering s were possible and most changes were made that would enable him to resign provided at least an executive and assembly meeting was done. This has been prevented by postponements and changing schedules of executives of kililka that are in the federal government. The only small windw left now is if he has access to Radio or something else, which for sure will be misunderstood and some groups taking advantage of it will start hooliganism. If he simply announces resignation now that is calling for chaos. Some prominent people are talking to the PM that even if he wins now to replace Illey, he is planting a most dangerous future. Let Iley go orderly according to the constitution of kilil. But there are also pushing PM to cut the Liyu and Somali Media using this as opportunity and show that Ethiopia is not afarid of some kilil. This group is his main base. Amhara, Oromo, opposition but not opposition when it comes to kililka Will see which way he will choose.

galbeedi, Forget Tigray, Oromo or anyone else. What is the main issue between Ethiopia and kililka. Its the fact that kililka has the most autonomy of any region of Ethiopia including Tigray or Oromo. Culturally its was insulated by this autonomy, the education system and even the little economy was developing semi-independent. That is the main question. Maybe the Amhara could be no.1 in opposition to this, but the Oromo are not far behind. No body will allow Iley to resign and transfer smoothly and the Liyu, ESTV, Assembly to stay the way they are. The only issue for Abiy, Amhara or Oromo is that: They cannot replace him through assembly They cannot replace him through SPDP the governing party They cannot replace him using Liyu, Police or any instirution in kililka. That is why they are trying to find outside means, but Somali persons. The main thing is the kilil institutions need to be cut down. I am sure you heard the news that in kililka a church was burned and priests killed. Guess what of all the Amhara, Oromo, Gurage..etc in kililka they had to find one lone Tigray priest and kill him. This is pure false flag most Ethiopians are not even dou bting it was not a work of Somali to burn a church, kill a priest and search specifically for Tigray priest.

Shiine Culay - Maxaa laga wada hadlay in Jig Jiga?
Old_Observer replied to Mooge's topic in Politics
He can't. The Oromo are preventing all means he can resign and his deputy or who ever the executive elect to take over. The Oromo want kililka cut to size they want. If Iley transfers then nothing changes in kililka. The Oromo are preventing even cabinet, executive, assembly any meeting of kililka. They want a fight so they can destroy few institutions and mainly Liyu and Assembly that is not friendly to them. Its all well planned: Just to give you an example: Church was burned and a priest killed. Guess what of all the other communities this is the only one of Tigray. If this is not false flag then everything else is true. Ethiopians are saying....how come the Somali burn church unheard of before and specifically especially select a Tigray priest of all the others like Amhara, Oromo, Gurage..etc. -
It has been common among Ethiopian politicians, especially last five years for the following points: Basically it all boils down that there is too much autonomy in kililka and the Tigray who don't allow other kilils are allowing this because they are friends. The Tigray justification was that the Somali kilil is the main kilil that can prevent terrorism, long border, can solve the separatist problem internally and we are confident they are federalist. So now that there is significant Somalis that want Iley gone but replaced orderly even with his choice. The Oromia kilil has been campaigning for Iley head. The Oromo are now in control of the Federal which means want Iley gone. For them this is just a cover the main things are: 1. The kilil Media is completely independent of the rest of the country and works as if kililka is a country. 2. The Education system is run and teaching children as if kililka is a country federated with Ethiopia 3. The Militia, Police and Liyu are more than what is needed to keep law and order are highly trained, regimented 4. Kililka has undertaken major projects like airports dams roads that no other kilil has done, by its own money There fore if kililka is allowed to tranfer presidency on its own then all these structures will stay intact. Even ONLF can take over smoothly and with all this infrastructure call for independence. Kililka need to be cut to size acceptable to current powers. All activities like creating chaos, employing hooligans burning church which is least expected in Somali kilil, never done even during outright war days, let alone now. Church burning killing of priests (specifically selecting priests from Tigray and no other places) is all planned and false flag operation. Most Ethiopians are saying this is false flag. Killing priests only and specifically from Tigray is a well planned false flag. The one and only objective is to prevent kilil to replace Iley orderly. The Oromo went and disrupted ESTV, took over Assembly hall, prevented assembly from gathering and even prevented cabinet from meeting, prevented SPDP governing party executive from meeting, but all the while want a conference in Dirdawa to go ahead. They want violent change of leadership so the institutions can also be destroyed or incapacitated. That is where the situation is. They propagate that Iley must go, but prevent every means that he can go except the violent one.

I never said is normal actually is very very dangerous there could be war. ONLF is saying hold tight and Abiy need to withdraw which will not do for sure. I am not being Baqdad bob. The whole operation was to have finished in the morning. Statements that was pre-distributed was announced everywhere including Jawar who had inside info of the plan. The replacement govt from Dirdawa conferenece failed Dirsawa itself is under state of emergency. From Ethiopian TV The fedral and army (Oromo Liyu under federal name) did not achieve any of the places they were supposed to control. Iley was expected to have been killed like Gaddafi by hooligans in the street. Iley captured, Iley killed..etc was all over the facebooks of those in the know from the Oromo. Does that sound Baqdad bob to you?

I saw a discussion among Ethiopians of same incident that happened during Haileslassie in Eritrea. Eritrea was in federation in Ethiopia just like kililka is now. The Ethiopians wanted to get rid of too much autonomy of Eritrea but did not have the votes. They prevented some members of the assembly from coming to the meeting, they brought armed men into the assembly and made the assembly members sign that federation no more. Forced the president of federal state of Eritrea to resign. He joined the armed struggle. In the same year Eritreans started armed struggle for independence and in 30 years they got it.

galbeedi, Its incredible Yourself you set up the table and then try to group your selected answers. Fake news: 1. No Somali Iley or others has ever contemplated using article 39 that is just to prevent the Amhara from showing any sympathy let alone alliance with Somali. 2. Illey was called to Addis for discussion that is fake and you knew this. You opened a thread here about Dirdawa conference. The Oromo were not able to do anything within kililka so they wanted to set up a government in Dirdawa take over Jigjiga with some excuse and intstall that Dirdawa govt. 3. Demonstrators burning church and looting. Who are they? who paid them and how a coincidence is that the army and federal were there at first instance of looting? They were outsmarted by the Somali. Liyu did not panic and go to street to save bank or beauty shop or nailcare salon. Liyu protected the institutions. The federal and army did not save a single store. That was not their mission. Their mission was to take over government while Liyu and police are busy chasing paid hooligans. Why you use fake manufactured obvious information to analyze is beyond me, while you have facts and you know them. The Oromo are only able to do a coup and destroy the autonomy and take back the Somali decades. They cannot change government orderly. It is not in their interest. What if the Somali have replacement for Iley that is even more Somali autonomy man and no buggage from past. That is the ultimate nighmare for Oromo and they do not want that. For them there has to be some violence where they can eliminate some, jail some exile some.
-
I don't think you want to be confused with the real facts, do you. Here is a simple one: share of the oil for kililka. Iley is one who could get the highest if that oil is to come out of that ground. Any other person will settle for much less. Trade route: The groups from around Shinnile are no match for the Oromo and for sure the Oromo is fighting to control this route in their name or using those groups as name brand. I don't want to overloead you these two are just most elementary. Remember whether its land, trade, banks, camels, grass, waterwell there is always economic reasons behind any conflict. This one has a lot of other factors as well. Simple question. The somali has the highest autonomy the highest capability in that empire. Why do you want to throw away this just because you don't like Iley. Don't you need this autonomy to build a society that is complete Somali no outside cultural pollution or minimum. Why can't you depose Iley and you want somebody else who has self interest in the matter to do it for you? If the Oromo replace Iley they replace him with their own not with your choice. That is just fact of life all over the world.

London Court: DP World Contract still valid and binding...
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
Djibouti has the best weapon mankind has ever had. The ability to say nothing do nothing the ability to stay sitting tight in a corner like a kid who has a caaugh in kindergarten. Even if UAE gets so frustrated by Djibouti and sends Eritrea across border, Djibouti can still afford to do nothing. Let the Eritrea has some desert or barren mountain, so what just shame the French and the Eritreans have to stop before humiliating the French. Ethiopia cannot move business from Djibouti right now. Eritrea will not be ready even to take 10% of Ethiopian business for next 2 years. Somaliland has some capacity, but UAE may not want to go that route, since that will be against Eritrea. This is the case when Lao Tzu said: "The softest things in the world overcome the hardest things in the world. Through this I know the advantage of taking no action." -
Only 3 things are true so far. 1. The Oromo tried to set up a government in Dirdawa conference and replace Iley government with it. Dirdawa is not in kililka. The Oromo do not have force to set up even a conference inside kililka to replace the regional govt. That has failed so far. 2. In order to bring the govt set up in Dirdawa to Jigjiga, the Oromo sent in/organized some hooligans to start chaos and immediately take over the kililka govt buildings. This has not succeded either, but a lot of shops broken looted trade mark of Africans democratic and human rights armies. This has partly succeeded, but government buildings have not been taken over. Iley had called up a big Liyu force a day before into Jigjiga and area and did not panic to respond to street disturbance. Rather calmly waited at the targets and the federals could not go to war with Liyu. 3. Now there is behind the scene negotiation going since the Oromo seem to have withdrawn all their dramatic headlines and are now talking about peaceful solution and a Somali solution to Somali problem. That is the last statement.

You have graduated from Nomad quick to anger quick to action who can just pack his life belongings on a camel or two and move to the calculating sedentary farmer who has to think of his stone fixed house and planted farm. I agree in all your as you said conspiratorial thoughts, but are logical and what is happening for most part. Eritrea must have done some good arm twisting, and UAE money greasing, because ONLF is actually more antagonistic with Oromo than SPDP Iley. Actually Farmaajo maybe have piece that affects Jubaland a place which a disgruntled kililka would be first choice of exile. The Minister in charge of security of Somaliland has made statement to the effect that the borders with Ethiopia will be secured more and that Somalilanders need to take care of Ethiopians in Somaliland in peace and tranquility as good hosts. The Oromo need some violence. If Iley refused to provide them which he did, they will manufacture it through any means. They have used hooligans cheapest and best choice weapon of democracy and human rights to break some shops and steal that way the federal can come and take over. Combination of Soros with African behaviour is deadly mix. That is what happened, but kililka is better organized, discipleined and stronger than the Oromo thought. Its standstill and back to drawing board. All postings planned on facebook, twitter...most have been posted and some have been reached and withdrawn. The speaker of the Assembly made a statement that kililka did not call federal and the coincidence that hooligans starting property damage and theft and arrival of federal need to be investigated.

Addisstandard is like Jawar but from different side. All these outlets throw in totaly fake news in between all the other articles. Most likely this is fake or was sent in anticipation. All those headlines which were given beforehand to be announced from different corners like: Iley killed Iley arrested Iley declared article 39 Iley refused meeting in Addis Ababa Somali kilil Assembly has deposed Iley Somali conference in Dirdawa has deposed Iley All came out, but none is true. Only true is those paid anti-peace elements in Jigjiga went ahead and created some mess expecting for defence forces to come and take over Jigjiga.

Most of the Somalis and ONLF reject the fake Dire Dawa conference.
Old_Observer replied to galbeedi's topic in Politics
galbeedi, That is exactly what was planned and happened. Your Oromo friends cannot replace Iley or his choice for next guy from Jigjiga using proper assembly. Its all rigged and the assembly will not allow Ethiopia to select Iley replacement. The only option is manufacture one in DirDawa which is not even part of kililka, load it on truck and bring it to Jigjiga and install it. That was why Ethiopian army (Oromo Liyu under federal name) was sent to Jigjiga. Some in Jigjiga were paid to start burning homes and church never ever done before to create excuse. I don't think will work, but will be unforgettable lesson for the Somali. -
Very sad turn of events. The Somali are not allowed to change government themselves, because if they do that means keep their autonomy. It has to be destroyed first and then will be governed from the group gathered in DirDawa who are excluding the current kilil government and ONLF.
-
You are exactly where everyone, but a Somali should be. Blaming each other in time of critical change. Why not you take it from Iley than enjoying others taking it from him. What ever autonomy they take from Iley will not be given back to any other Somali. It will be gone for at least a generation. If the Oromos do it, they do it for themselves, if the Tigray do it they do it for themselves. The difference for you a Somali is where you are an ally and where you are simply controlled. If you are an ally you have certain control. I guess you cared about Somali unity and freedom only if its not around Iley and Co. That is the ultimate hypocrisy. A lot of company.
-
Excellent statement ONLF has to insert itself otherwise the meeting in DirDawa was not only to eliminate kililka govt, but also exclude ONLF. Hit not just two, but many birds with one stone: Destroy or damage the autonomy of the Somali Eliminate Iley and Co. and Replace by some group that has no base, no organization, no force, no money... Disconnect the Somali in Ethiopia from Mogadishu, Jubaland and other states Disconnect the Somali from other Ethiopian's solidarity by accusing falsely of separation Take a higher percentage of oil by bringing weaker Somali in name only group
-
This is loss for all kinds of Somalis; Those who want one government one flag one nation can kiss it goodbye completely. It was tried by force of arms it failed now was experiment to build it block by block, relatively peacefully and with development in many areas, and this will also seem is failing. Somalis can't read each other, can't be patient, quick to action...And of course like every society you have those who will go after their individual or small tribe benefit and screw the rest. The hate and vengeance that comes out of this, and the outsiders who will take advantage of will seal any experiment for generations to come. Will be same as the conference of the 1950s where the British had agreed to gather most Somalis almost 90% under one country.
-
The Oromo cannot allow the Somali to stay with too much autonomy more than they have. The Oromo cannot allow also this autonomy to be transfered peacefully to a person that may be even more influential and less buggage than Iley. The Oromo need violence to eliminate some to jail some and to exile some that they think is threat. They are using their own Liyu to do this but have federal cover.
-
The bottom line: The Oromo do not want the Somali as an ally, because with an ally you have to compromise and give certain items. No matter what the Somali does, the Oromo are determined the Somali should be under control and not an ally. Even if Illey says I will do what ever you want, but stay out of kililka is not acceptable. They want to get inside kililka and make changes down to village level. Even Jubaland is included and you might see Ethiopian or Eritrean forces cutting off Kililka and Jubaland. The Oromo just secured the Djibouti Ethiopia line by declaring localized state of emergency around Harer and Dir Dawa and having Somali clan in Shinnile create a disturbance to call for Federal.
-
It will get really bad. The Oromo will really now destroy what ever autonomy was built and make kililka government in name that is a branch of Addis Ababa. They could never do it peacefully or democratically so they needed violence in order to get rid of the small autonomy achieved. The oil was bad. The geopolitics is bad...everything is against the Somali everywhere. The problem is some Somalis think is their opportunity.
-
The Oromo could not allow smooth transfer in Kililka. If they allow this kililka will be even more autonomous more powerful and more economic control. They could not replace it in Jigjiga so they organizaed Somalis like our galbeedi's to make statement that Iley has been deposed and they are new government. Then the Oromo would carry them to Jigjiga. That is the plan.
-
That is just propaganda fake news for Ethiopian government to do as it pleases. Other Ethiopians will be taken out of the game believing that the Somali wants to separate and deserves what is coming to him. That is the game. You can see a lot of Somalis repeating this lie. The Oromo don't need to do anything.

Ethiopian forces take over Jigjiga regional gov't buildings
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
What has been happening was in the works for couple of years. Ethiopian government trying to replace assembly and Iley of kililka. Its too strong, too independent and dangerous for separation. Cannot be allowed to replace itself smoothly and somebody separatist taking over a military an economy a media an education system and administrative organization that is only and too much Somali. Ethiopian government cannot allow Iley to transfer all that smoothly to next guy. Some chaos need to be manufactured so that Ethiopia can have reason to enter the internal systems in kililka. There are ready instruments of "democracy and human rights army" for this and were to be gathering in Dir Dawa that is not kililka and depose Iley and elect their man Ethiopia's man. Ethiopian govt option is make a replacement government for kililka outside and carry it into kililka. That is where things are. Eritrea is now the main interested party and the Oromo have given them including the barn as long as the Eritrean keep Tigray, Afar and Somali in check. There is similar preparation in North as well. Army from Eritrea is in Amhara area positioned to attack Tigray if needed and from Eritrean border. Finding replacement government is easy for kililka. There is more than enough Somalis to do that. They might actually be too many and will compete against each other. -
Ethiopian forces take over Jigjiga regional gov't buildings
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
That is not true. This has been campaigned last 2 years yet it was only Somalis killed deep inside Oromo kilil, but never one Oromo killed deep in kililka. Some were put in protective custody a year ago and that proved to be best move. I am not sure what the benefit of Somalis is from all sides attacking kililka using false information from likes of Jawar. -
Ethiopian forces take over Jigjiga regional gov't buildings
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
Everyone in Ethiopia is bringing from the grave of politics anyone they think they can use, even toilet sinks let alone kitchen sinks. Eritrea is the only beneficiary. Ethiopia back to its old ways one step forward two steps back. And now oil added mixed to it. Geopolitics to it, internal conflicts to it. All of this has come to meet in kililka.
