cadnaan, Wrong.

Its not fair to say anything this early, but it was also not fair to humiliate the Somali this early. No meeting has been conducted in Kililka yet all meetings fake or true are all done in Oromia Any meaningful Somali structures in DirDahba has been dismantled already Hopefully this kind of humiliation will not continue. At least for formality meetings should be done in kililka.

Stalin Kruichev moment in EPSDP kililka party...
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
The loss of this city started around 1985, but there was hope in 1991 that all Somali parties would quickly get together and save the area even if they cannot agree on anything else. No unity was achieved. The Oromo put a claim by convincing those around the city to side with them. They were successful, but the Somali was also strong enough to fight against Oromo armed groups. There would not be much support, but those who had guns like ONLF were ready to fight. Then the Oromo came with an offer of making the city federal. ONLF who did not have base there and the Somali parties that were based in the area did not want confrontation so all agreed. Then 20 years later Iley came to power in kililka. He did fairly good job in putting up a fight. There has to be strong local support and there wasn't. Add to it the splinter among Somali and running to Addis which was minimum during Iley time, but not enough. Next steps should be: Ally with Amhara and others which should be easy to do. Especially now that the Oromo are now in power. Then as galbeedi said resurrect the economy and get Djibouti help. Ban khat and change the battle lines. I told you ministry education kililka is target..it is in deed ..minister was removed. -
Stalin Kruichev moment in EPSDP kililka party...
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
Looks almost completed unless Ghelleh can convince his folks to totally and without questions unite as Somalis and the Oromized Somali have change of heart thinking that the Oromo power may not last but what they choose will last longer. There is no Somali power now that can intimidate the wishiwashis and can entice those after benefits. -
Stalin Kruichev moment in EPSDP kililka party...
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
Dirdhaba is governed by a formulae: 40% Somali 40% Oromo 20% rest of Ethiopians mostly Amhara, Hareri, Gurage..etc Dirdahba Administration Election should have been done last month, but was postponed by parliament federal by a year. The Somali side is now on its own. Kililka support and Somali party activities dismantled The formulae has not been changed to prevent the Amhara and Gurage from demanding proportional representation and allying with Somali. So much for democracy fake. The problem for the Somali community is two fold: As some Somali community side with Oromo there is no good unity Cannot go for one man one vote. The Oromo will overwhelm from villages around. The Gurage and others might ally with Oromo being intimidated by Qero and Oromo and Federal government. -
Stalin Kruichev moment in EPSDP kililka party...
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
Why 11 CC members of EPSDP were all in Dirdhaba? Strategic importance. Why 7 of them have been expelled from CC at once when Dirdahba is not even in Kililka Why when other parties can only suspend until next congress, ESPDP accepted PM wishes to expell them. This is so obvious all eyes are on Dirdhaba first. It was not unexpected by the Somali side, but the Oromo have practically sidelined Djibouti and kililka with one stone. -
The most humiliating aspect was the meeting was done in the PM office in Addis Ababa. Not even in the kilil territory. This is first for any regional governing party in Ethiopia. Kilil is still seen as unsafe, inconvenient, for the new Oromo coup. Total focus for now is the fate of Dirdahba/Dirdawa. 1. Mohamed Rashid - speaker of Assembly and executive member of EPSDP expelled from party will stay as speaker 2. Abdi Jemal - Justice and attorney general member of ESPDP executive - Removed from Executive 3. Kedir Abdi - Director of PSDP office - removed from executive and his post Removed from Central committee: 4. Beauro/minister of Education 5. Beauro/Minister of women's affairs 6. Efdir zone Administrator 7. Dirdahbo Administration chief of security 8. 5 CC memebers from ESPDP Dirdahba Branch all leadership of the Branch This meeting took 3 days. Ahmed Shide stated the following in the meeting: 1. Criticized Abdi Iley for practicing dictatorial leadership in kililka 2. Leadership of the party has been and still is disseminate false information in social media 3. A website that had written that Shide is illegitimate to be chair of party has removed its article and front page
-
galbeedi, I don't Shide wants to quit his day job for a brave new world in kililka. He maybe chairman of ESPDP but that is being sidelined. Its very bad thing to do. ESPDP was where clans were fairly happy with. It is also a product of WSLF, SDL and many Somali parties and groups. It is kind of forum more than a party. Meetings were also more lively. Hope Shide does not destroy it. Temporary hijacking is ok, its temporary and when the winds change can be recovered. Destroying something like this is almost impossible to recover even with changed winds.

Ex Ina Ilay Ministers captured trying to enter Somaliland
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
I don't think anybody will be arrested. Actually if you are new governor you want persons lie that to self exile. But Arrest in Ethiopia are not going on. No group is sure yet and nobody wants to start violence unless its like kililka where there was no legal way to make changes. It had to be a coup. They also had to act fast before Illey settles everything every office in his way and then resigns. Could not allow him to do it his way. The new guy would be better of doing exactly what PM Abiy is doing with his Oromo. To the extent he is allowed. -
Long before they ask him or tell him to settle Oromos here are the departments where he will be tested: 1. Liyu As new envoy governor if you make unemployed of people that have the skill and craft of power security...you create an Iraq situation with the republican guard. That is for him and his sake. The Oromo would want nothing short of total destruction of this department. The way he handles this will be most significant. Remember the Oromo and Amhara were accusing their police of serving TPLF, but they did not do any changes afraid that things can go south. 2. ESTV This broadcast in Somali and Amharic functioned as if kililka is a country into itself. It was almost the only one that confronted Jawar and Oromo Media combined. ETV was neutral then and quoted both Somali and Oromo TVs. Right now ESTV is never mentioned, but Oromo media is quoted, by the minute. 3. Education this as well was fully autonomous as should be. There was accusation that kililka is not teaching things Ethiopian. If he makes changes in this department that is also sign 4. Corporations public corporations. Each kilil has these kinds. Everybody who did not get piece of the action in a blanket way says they are corrupt..across Ethiopia. 5. Relations with Ghelleh and coming election in Dirdawa. He has no direct instruments since Dirdahba is federal, but is battle ground and if the Somali can achieve alliance with Amhara and Hareri can succeed. Ghelleh has to finance this fully.

Ex Ina Ilay Ministers captured trying to enter Somaliland
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
Aren't you doing the same thing, only in opposite direction? There is a bit of lawlessness all around the country and any group now can take measures that were unthinkable few months ago. This in kililka is even greater chance of even individual or group retributions either using group power or if possible state power. There is significant number of Somali politicians and in some cases beaurocrats sitting in Addis by one reason or another until the situation and confusion clears up and some order is restored. -
Not much is confirmed. It could be another trial balloon testing if Iley or Liyu will panic and take steps so that Abiy can bring army and create war to make radical changes. The Oromo are not sure why the Somali is not behaving as expected nomad, quick to anger quick to action. The guy has a lot of animosity with Iley and some payback he might try, but the ground is not good for that kind even with all the truth and lies mix total media campaign on Iley. Him not haveing been part of the system is a plus normally, but minus in this case. There are departments in kililka that you cannot change unless you destroy them like ESTV, Police, Education and some businesses public corporations like building dams and roads. To a small degree you can see why institutions are important. They are more than a person.

This chicken has expired. When you have Eritrea now more prior than the likes of Ethiopia in the region its a changed game. Since Eritrea has an ally in Mogadishu "deep state" lol it will not work in Puntland favor. We will see how UAE acts about Puntland: Reconcile to modus vivendi between Somaliland and Puntland Use Puntland as its way back to Somalia or stick with Mogadishu clan and Eritrea.

What he said at the time was taken as general politician talk...We are brothers we intermarry we are mixed..etc, but recently some close relative of his has said that they are Oromo..Somalized or Oromized Somali..

That is one problem of all Africans. Not only do they get to kill you or overthrow you, but have to hang you or cut you up. Africans do not know that exile is worst punishment. Tigray were very good at exiling.

So far what is looking like is: Iley with making moves to replace himself but with everything his choosing, hurried those who wanted him to be replaced by everything their choice. So far is a stalemate but they got damaged more than him. They need him now at least to say he is safe he is ok...and for him to do that the price is high..but they have to pay before the kililka fails and the whole country goes to his side for order and security.

Why not say ASRD are bank rolled by Ghelleh and Bixi to make it a home run for you. just kidding. You are not happy with Iley, ASRD, ONLF....Nothing short of a Somali that openly declares loyalty to Oromo can make you happy, i guess. Nothing has taken shape and form in Ethiopia yet. UAE and EGYPT seemed to be running away with it, but America and Britain seem to have second thoughts. Internally as well the Amhara are having second thoughts already. So much so, Isayas the biggest Arab rep for HOA is going to pay a visit to Amhara. All of a sudden PM Abiy came on TV after some hiatus praised with extra words especially for the chief of staff (new) and spoke on TV that the retired Generals could be called for duty from time to time and they should not distance themselves from those on active duty. So much Arab hot air. The Abiy Eritrea brotherhood is already shaken. Eritrea went overboard and started acting like superpower with somebody's stick. Saudis are not impressed. EPRDF Executive are in a meeting. Out of all enclaves Somaliland will come out unscathed from this face book age revolutions that get edited by the minute. Somaliland kept mouth shut and show offs OFF.

I think the problem is those intellectuals. Somebody has to come up on how to marry the Nomad with the jargon of the times like democracy, human rights...all the systems of the times. Then the nomad will respect the rules of the nomad. Right now is being asked to follow the rules of the times only and forget the nomad. That will not work anywhere. Ethiopia just speaks the language of the times, but respect their tribal system. They found intellectuals who understand tribes.

Old_Observer replied to Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar's topic in Politics
Exactly that is what he can do. Only Isayas can speak that is how the country runs. Eritrea is not new to Somalia and Eritrea can be useful and helpful in negotiating solution to Alshabab. Hopefully all parts of Somalia can agree to this. Maybe disarming them, not locating them in Mogadishu (coup risk)..etc. Eritrea also has preferred clan, they never hide it, but might suppress it for now to achieve quick results to embarrass Amisom which is beneficial for Somalia. One problem with Eritrea is they get too far deep. And also very moody (friendship and enmity with Sudan is sometimes months) and lacks principles at times like with Yemen and Sudan. -
Ouch. Ouch...wow..what a putdown. You have become Jawar now lol. There is a saying. A fallen tree will have too many axes on it. The kililka situation is still uncknown. The death of of your cousins is bit exaggerated. PM Abiy today was singing praises of the new chief of staff another Tigray. The Army for sure will not abondon your cousins and Iley groups. If Only the intelligence guys would be kicked out from around Abiy. The Intelligence guy has enmity with Iley. The Ethiopian kitchen is now Oromo for most part. Your cousins no matter which edition can never be "waiters" in that kitchen.

Eritrea is on steroids now. They are smart enough to know that this Arab shenanigan can change overnight. Taking advantage fast. Hit while iron is hot. So many nice words, but not practical. Djibouti and Eritrea cannot move in unison. Sudan and Eritrea cannot move in unison. This reality is known even to a child. This nice words but empty annoys me very much.

Wasiirka arrimaha dibadda Eritareeya...
Old_Observer replied to Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar's topic in Politics
Most Somalis are ambivalent about this. Too many uncknowns. Very difficult to see how the Turkey/Qatar and UAE issue will affect and how can be handled. South Sudan was destroyed by Uganda Eritrea competition. Here also they will compete. It may not be as nasty as UAE Qatar but on African level these are two dictators, and very long time dictators as such. -
It is still possible. All the countries of HOA are going no where the way they are. Everyone of them has fundamental problem the way it was bordered. No development work no matter how good can succeed. All these places had sultanates and kingdoms long before the rest of Africa and Arabs were nomadic, hunter gatherer tribes. It only takes one strong kingdom or sultanate to create chaos and then one big settlement conference to solve the chaos. Or the best way would be for Somali to have secret society in all enclaves develop each but with common characteristics. Then make the countries have an EU style union and slowly consolidate. The down side to this is takes time about 3 generations. People that lead should be trustworthy they will not deviate regardless who is the boss of the world or region.
