British spy loses his head Failmaajo wont be good with the brits
Old_Observer replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
With the British you are always obligated to do your end of the bargain, they are not. They can renege on any agreement but Farmaajo can't. Has always been like that. Farmaajo is not cut out to work with them, even in matters of style let alone substance. -
DP World's New Berbera Port Development - Ground breaking ceremony
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
On this day I came to say Congratulation. It has been roller coaster trip of a year where sometimes things looked bleak. I guess you stayed consistent. This was achieved without kissing any behinds, like the dictators "democrats"..of the area seem to do a lot these days, sometimes and some of them so excessive nauseating. Now you are getting somewhere. There is nothing going on in Eritrea or Ethiopia other than youtube shows. If the Suez and Bab El mendeb are closed for some goat desease lol Berebera will be the only one functioning to China, to India, to Japan no problem at all as if the ship wrecks (worst case) in Suez or Bab El Mendeb don't exist. Some of our cousin or relative dictators and democrats are going "what went wrong". Congratulation again and to all Somalis in Djibouti and in Ethiopia as the main beneficiaries comparable to that of Somaliland if not more. -
"If there are people who think we are two separate, they don't know us. We are one people and PM Abiy and I will work to the realization. From now on PM Abiy is the leader of these one people" President Isayas of Eritrea in Addis Ababa.

TPLF re-elects the old guard to the Executive Committee
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Their advantage is that the system of governance they set up is now defended more by others than Tigray. Now everybody in Ethiopia even those who had picked arms against Federalism are defenders of it. As long as there is Federal system there may be ups and downs, but no body is out of the game. -
Ina cagjar sends liyuu troops to hartesheikha
Old_Observer replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
Good of you to remember the man who warned people that 1984 onwards will be all politicians who say the opposite of what is that they want to do. Example in Ethiopia now there is a saying that says "citizenship politics no Ethnic politics". The true meaning of that is lets get rid of Federalism and have unitary state just like we had during the kings and emperors days. They say Ethnic politics has bruoght us conflicts we need citizenship politics love and equality of all citizens. lol This is as if Ethiopia was the heaven, peaceful, respect of languages, equality and self government....where as from 1960 to date the old Ethiopia was called prison of nationalities. Most times its laughable, but since this gimmicks are well oiled, they work. Humans in general forget bad days faster than good days so these Soros people take advantage of it. -
Maxamnad bin Salman tells trump no more oil
Old_Observer replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
Oil is no more controlled by USA alone. And now even customers like China, Japan and India have some power over Oil business. Saudis only option is to be colony and they are doing good job of it. Now they have little competition from UAE for who can better serve America. -
Ina cagjar sends liyuu troops to hartesheikha
Old_Observer replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
Ethiopia is now completely taken over by catch phrases that have no meaning or worst yet can have different meanings that can freeze opposite sides. When the people go back to bread and butter issues this will be like Uknraine or many other places where catch phrases changed governments or order. -
That is really big. Compared to the 2015 international targets millenium something..what was Somalilands levels? As you know girls are overtaking boys in education in a lot of countries, including some third world ones. I don't see that happening soon in the Horn of Africa most traditional societies, but what is the level of success in Somaliland? Have you reached the number of girls being half the number of boys in all schools?

TPLF re-elects the old guard to the Executive Committee
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
I think the fight between Getachew and Iley was really bad. Iley friends the generals are mostly retired. Getachew is suspected being the national security advisor of Abiy, but since the Amhara, some Oromo, Somali and even some Tigreans are not comfortable, PM Abiy is not officially filling that post. It has been empty for 3 months now. -
TPLF re-elects the old guard to the Executive Committee
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
A lot of new ones too actually 31 out of 55 is mostly new faces. What makes it look old is most of the plans, renewal..etc was already decided a year ago. The people of that region were bitterly complaining that all their capable and good people were being sent to Federal government and only second rates in their kilil. -
Former Somali President to lead new political party
Old_Observer replied to Deeq A.'s topic in Politics
Actually old name works better to create a good connection between present and past when going to new future. People feel more comfortable. I am not sure if it will work for him, but in most places that works best. -
Former Somali President to lead new political party
Old_Observer replied to Deeq A.'s topic in Politics
Why can't he be the first. There is always the first to everything. -
Think of new city, new capital and be done with. Mogadishu will grow on its own or die out like so many great cities have done. On the one hand is good all civilizations are based or seated in cities never village unless its Xabeshi kingdom lol On the other hand there is no conditions to do anything big right now.

A Somali-Bantu man was set on fire by his inlaws in Mogadishu
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
Here you go all that bragging of saying we horn Africans had government, religion, culture, civilization...all goes out the window in a couple of minutes. The same thing happened in Ethiopia as well. And since governments are too afraid of tribes no action in Ethiopia or Somalia. It will take a century to fix the damage to culture, social values...that comes from these isolated looking incidents. -
Easy Puntland will undo some of this, if not Mogadishu itself being undone. Its a waste of time trying to work on 2 fundamentally different systems. Its proving impossible with one system of federalism let alone unitary.

You are a bit late for that. If you don't have something like liyu in Africa, forget it. And most importantly if you don't have elders who can tell the children just obey your leaders now no questions, be quiet, there are pirates there is a hyena..It does not work. You just get people killed. Population is game for budget times and propaganda. The Somali and Tigray are equal 6-7 million (kilils) otherwise Tigray has 1.5 million in Oromo country and Somali may have at least half that in Oromo. Tigray is 90% Tigray and the rest Irob, Agew, Afar and Kunama. Somali kilil is 90% Somali rest is Oromo, small Amhara, Tigray..and others. Afar are 2 million, Benshangul are 1 million, Gambella .5 million (half) Amhara 23 million Recent done by govt. (contains Amhara, Agew, Oromo and others) Oromo 32 million. Recent done by Govt both as correction of last count done. (contains Amhara, Somali, Tigray, Gurage..) There is about 4-5 million Amhara in Oromo and 2-3 million Oromo in Amhara South is 12 million. out of which Sidama 3, Welayta 2.2, Hadiya 1.5, Gurage 1.5-2 and the rest from 10,000 to 100,000 some 50 nationalities. Addis Ababa is 3-3.5 million Dirdhaba is maybe 1 now since its another counting game for the formula 40% Oromo, 40% Somali and 20% others. Even if there comes an opportunity the Somali is right now this minute most ill prepared. Is going through complete shake up. Even some wanting to split kilil since no posts..its bad. Hopefully soeone a hero shows up if something happen in Ethiopia. Abiy problem is with Oromo. They think he is too much Amhara. No body is sure why Tigray and Afar have no news of any conflicts or security issues. The rebels like ONLF for both Tigray and Afar were handled differently with intelligence and defense people not politicians. 2 od Afar and 1 of Tigray have come quietly to their kilils. No news no fanfare. Maybe Eritrea and Abiy wanted it that way. They are two kilil that border Eritrea 500km each.
-
Unless you are part of the movement that is doing this kind of "news" on purpose. Its fake. 2 Of the leaders of G7 and Amhara have been arrested for the killings that happened 2 days ago. They even took dead body and transferred it to 3 places to start chaos everywhere. It did not work. And this is coming to you from someone who remotely does not support the Oromo. The Gurage 7 and Amhara know that they cannot do anything outside Addis Ababa. The kilils are too strong and most of them would just shoot them. They have also been caught paying money to unemployed people to demand transitional government. Its like in Somalia now. What do you think you change by overthrowing Farmaajo or Kheyere nothing. Nothing what so ever in Puntland. Its the same in Ethiopia. You can burn down Addis and some kilil would not feel anything.
-
lol Everything is Tigray and everybody talking Tigray, even those who are believed to be winners are still afraid of Tigray, for they did not beat them. Something just happened in far away America, in near middle east..not much known. Have no problem with Farmaajo and if I had he is too weak and unaccomplished. SOL community is a country where citizens have no brake and the gas pedal is set once even when the vehicle is going to hit the wall. Majority SOLers were few months ago "I don't care what happens in kililka, just get Iley out". Iley is out no one knows what happens. The way things are going even Jawar may want reconciliation. Even our galbeedi ay be already saying "I did not expect this outcome".. MMA, When one has principles, no need to be changing after every small incidents. Ethiopia is still in flux. PM Abiy just asked retired military commanders not to go too far away and visit all times and help with those still active. The Oromo and Tigray are now considered allies again like 1991. Hopefully they reconcile kililka as well the Oromo side like you and the Tigray side like me. No need to play revenge when more is at stake.

Conflict Brewing Between Jawar's Qeerroo and Addis Ababa's Residents
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Tillamook, I don't take pleasure in this where the politicians have no risk at all since in an overpopulated country there is always the poor to die for them. The issue is inside the Oromo, more than Amhara Oromo. PM Abiy does not enjoy support among Oromos anymore and if you do not have enough strength in your home base then no Eritrea or Arab can keep you for long. Its always wrong time for the Somali. Since kililka has moved few steps back in the last few months in particular, it will not be ready to take advantage of anything that happens. Unity is now at its lowest, competition for posts its highest. Its also not good to wish people to be in bad shape, if at least you don't gain from it. It will also be bad for you. -
That is a lot of mileage from face book to any Somali politics regardless which enclave. I would advice him to Egypt, but they do not have money.

Conflict Brewing Between Jawar's Qeerroo and Addis Ababa's Residents
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
All are Amhara propagandists trying to make Oromo look bad and their side look good for the internet. Some of the killings around Addis was done by these groups to use it for demo to bring chaos and transitional government which they demanded in demo. -
The meida campaign aganst Djibouti by the Gulf had started.
Old_Observer replied to galbeedi's topic in Politics
It will continue. Djibouti is not reconciling with UAE, but getting close to Saudis. Taking advantage of the small competition UAE and Saudis have as to who is closest to America. -
Rebels in Eastern Ethiopia to Seek Self-Determination Vote
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
Too late by 6 months. Now kililka has gone few steps back. Not possible even if there is some chaos in Ethiopia. No patience and being tool for otheres for no gain to oneself. These are opportunities you get ready and wait. Even if the chance comes you are not ready you will miss it.
