Its not advocating for this or that. The point is he should show respect for the thousands and thousands who died to achieve even the little autonomy that has been achieved. Its a big deal. The Somali was the most autonomous in culture, language, identity and even limited development. WSLF was the first organization in Ethiopia that put self-government as minimum condition for the Somali people to stay in Ethiopia 35 years ago. Mustafe need to have respect for the past if he has no self respect at all. The Amxara are writing for Mustafe as next PM lol. That should tell you something. He is too beholden to Unitarians.

Foreign interests blamed in escalating row with Somalia
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
I hope those companies will build schools and clinics for nomads before the first cup of oil is extracted. It costs very little for them, but goes a long way to have peace. Otherwise expect oil wars and warlords getting money from oil companies that did not get the contracts. Or like some countries do give it to so many companies like one extracts, another pipes, another purifies..etc. Oil is bad as it is in all of Africa, but in HoA especially its killer. -
Regarding Somali Till this moment I always gave Abtigis the benefit of doubt. I know he has problems with both Illey and also ONLF. He also did not solve the issues and concerns of Shinnile. Dirdaba situation is worst and weaker for Somalis than it was a year ago. But this low, I never expected. a century of war may be hidden for temporary benefits of power, but is always present in human memory since every family has been touched at one point or another and with this or that side. Abtigis now is totally beholden to those who brought him to his position. He also does not want to stay in the kilil, he wants to move very fast to Addis Ababa. Government of Kililka is equivalent to small African country and a million issues to decide. There will be supporters and opposing to every decision. He is just like Abiy who likes applauding and face book flowers. A true leader should be able to tell his people something they may not like if he is sure its beneficial for them. Regarding Tigray its not new. The first manifesto of TPLF was establishing a Tigray republic. There is always a segment of the population that believes Ethiopia is holding them back from where they could have reached. The Amxara are full time campaigning against Tigray and Afwerki and Abiy are doing the same to quite the Amxara if not getting the support of Amxara. The A,xara hate comes from the following: If it was not for Tigray all other Ethnics never amounted to anything If it was not for Tigray there would not be federalism and now Ethnics have governed themselves we cannot bring them back under our control even if we get central government If it was not for Tigray everyone in Ethiopia would have been speaking Amharic since all education was in Amharic from grade 1 That they are convinced. There is nothing Tigray can do or say to convince them the truth. If you tell them that the Somali and even Oromo started before TPLF, they tell you, yes but what did they do all those years. TPLF in short years turned Ethiopia up side down. Let alone in poor and backward Ethiopia even the Scottish and Wales want to go their way. For both Tigray and Somali in particular separation maybe the solution for development. Ethiopia with 100 million people is going no where. Cannot create jobs or economy to match that. Many places are lawless right now. 85 percent of Ethiopia is rural. Abiy has not even done anything other than talk un the cities. The situation was bad always, but now is dangerous. If the world has financial crisis like 2008 Ethiopia is one of the countries that will have chaos with nobody to even donate food or medicine.

For those of you who do not know the Ethiopian Amxaric language its just as reference I link or you can ask a friend to confirm: 1. The existing nationalism is wrong we should all be Ethiopians one people 2. The Oromo taking the lions share of Federal government positions is democratic 3. Its better if Ethiopia was organized as east west north east etc administrative regions rather than Linguistic and Ethnic preference 4. I prefer individual rights. The group rights should be left to individual choice. 5. I want citizen politics not Ethnic Dr. Abiy is not stating this laudly, but that is his preference as well. Unbelievable. I think his hate for Illey and by extension for Tigray is pushing him to be more Amxara than Amxara. Very sad. The Oromos do not speak half of what he said, let alone a Somali who fought 100 years against centralized Ethiopia if not against being included in Ethiopia. Even if he wanted to say negative about previous administration, he should have had some self respect as a Somali. Why would he state loudly what PM Abiy or even most of the Oromo do not even say quietly. He should have had respect for the Somali people and be reserved even with his hate for previous admin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRLgL90p_L0 The journalist himself is Unitarian, but he found it incredulous and couldn't stomach the phony of Abtigis. It was funny when Abtigis said that the nationalistic attitudes is weakening the unity of the Ethiopian people. The journalist could not believe that a President of the Somali region, would speak this way. It showed on their argumentativeness. Fake person. That was not what was propagandized when he changed the kilil flag? The propaganda was that Abtigis is a Somali Ethnicist. Lately he keeps repeating that Illey was doing everything to separate Somali kilil from Ethiopia. No body buys this except most Amxara. Illey did what was allowed in the constitution: TV station was broadcasting only in Somali. What is wrong with that and also why should Somalis pay twice one for federal broadcasting Amharic and again for Kilil media Amharic. When the capacity of Kilil Media grew there was news only about Somali kilil, in Amharic for few minutes. Education did not include history and also cultures from other areas. First of all Ethiopians themselves do not agree about history secondly let the kids learn their own first and then as they advance into middle school and secondary can learn about others There was too much force in the kilil equal to some small African countries. Ethiopians did not complain when kilil was fighting ONLF and they forget. Secondly its border region. Thirdly its geographically very large kilil. The Somali people paid for it. The Somali kilil was doing projects that are not federal. So what if the kilil built an airport. When built the kilil did not refuse to include the airport with the Ethiopian airport authority and civil aviation administration. If kilil had waited the federal would not have built the airport in 5 years and many roads and dams.

This last one is very important. Every western and Arab country has a group or messenger. There are more than 100 political parties in Ethiopia, some of them 3 friends with brief case, but supported by some country. Somalia should institute a rule that anyone to be minister and above has to have lived in Somalia for 2 years prior unless he/she was Ambassador or similar. Countries should take lesson from Ahmed Chalabi of Iraq. Sudanese that have Egyptian, Eritrean, American, British...citizenship are demanding power sharing more than anything they deserve. -
29 thousand students sit for exams in Somaliland
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
Is it going to be computer assessed? When are the results announced? Are there prices for schools that had the most successful number of students (Like budget increase or extra scholarships...) Give us some more info. This is very positive and lasts for more than a generation. Great investment. The day we get service centers from Somaliland than from India and Pakistan will not be far. -
Very sad. There has to be more to this than what is public now. I don't think at this day and age anyone will go after killing people who have never interacted with in the long 30 years war. This is not the 90s where from Moscow to Addis Ababa to Mugadishu where it was in flux and civil wars some with money some with guns.

Foreign interests blamed in escalating row with Somalia

It is amazing when you know that oil was found and agreements signed in Horn of Africa 15 years before oil was even found in Saudi Arabia. Oil in HoA is still in the ground, but Saudis have gone from nomads to metro nomads in 50 years. The Saudis have achieved this feat of keeping the Horn oil in the ground with very little expense. If I was SFG, I would postpone anything to do with oil until there is full government in more than half of the country. If you don't control half ogf the country, you are looking for even Indian, Malaysian, Chinese...companies in addition to American, British, French...etc ones. Anyone of these companies can buy a tribe as the case is in South Sudan. The maritime case, the filing was smart and now can be left in that status, since Kenya cannot enter into any business dealing while there is case on file. Don't go for side issues or trivial issues after that. Trivial issues benefits them not Somalia. -
Even if agree for argument sake, but the fact remains, that he really controls a city a port a center of power... He is feared more than he is hated Also a lot of envy for his survival through many situations that could have killed any other person's ambitions.

All the vultures can smell blood now. America is there Britain is there And of course Egypt and Ethiopia/Eritrea Chad is neutral. -
That is why the Qabridahar airport was built with Kililka expense and capacity in international standard. Ethiopian is looking for airport that can replace Jeddah for low altitude and fueling. Addis Ababa is too high in elevation. Everybody has similar chance including Kenya for flights to Asia. Djibouti, Somaliland, Puntland...

Both Puntland and Somaliland have pros and cons for any foreign power and also depending on the seasons. Generally: Puntland has piece of Red Sea and Indian Ocean Somaliland has better piece of red sea and is open space to Indian ocean Puntland has access to be power in Mugadishu as well as in Garowe Somaliland is only in Hargiesa Both Somaliland and Puntland have similar diaspora power (lobby, information, business..) Neighboring countries see them the same, people and government wise. Djibouti does not want to choose between the two Ethiopia does not want to choose between the two Nobody wants Somaliland and Puntland to fight each other. Would bring quick end to Somalia dream of recovery and is very bad for business. China has always preferred Puntland, because Somaliland can easily get close to Britain and also is competition to Djibouti. Please do not compete for Bedewin temporary Arabs seeming power. Both are also very matured and civilized. Look how Somaliland handles Djibouti, Ethiopia..very dnagerous countries of dictatorships. Look how Puntland also handles Hargiesa and Mugadishu as well as Ethiopia a lot of balancing and juggling act. So far so good.

General Waldhauser, Ambassador Yamamoto discuss progress with Somali leaders in Mogadishu U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Thomas D. Waldhauser, commander, U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Ambassador to Somalia Donald Yamamoto met with senior Somali officials during a visit to Mogadishu, Somalia, June 11, 2019. By U.S. Africa Command Public Affairs, United States Africa CommandStuttgart, GermanyJun 12, 2019 U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Thomas D. Waldhauser, commander, U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Ambassador to Somalia Donald Yamamoto met with senior Somali officials during a visit to Mogadishu, Somalia, June 11, 2019. During the visit, Waldhauser and Yamamoto met with Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire and key Somali defense officials. Discussions centered on progress the U.S. interagency team has witnessed in Somalia, as well as U.S. whole-of-government support for the Federal Government of Somalia to set the conditions required for lasting security and stability. “U.S. security assistance to Somalia is an important part of our efforts to work with the people and government of Somalia for peace and stability,” said Yamamoto. “Peace and stability for Somalia means more stability in the entire region. It also means that the people of Somalia will be able to better focus on building a prosperous future.” Under the leadership of the Federal Government of Somalia, incremental progress has been achieved as security gains have paved the way for the political progress in the past several years. Somali security forces and their partners continue to apply pressure on terrorist networks in Somalia to create conditions for further political and economic development. "Groups such as al-Shabaab and ISIS-Somalia seek to create a bankrupt future for the Somali people,” said Waldhauser. “Creating a more secure environment enables the Somali people and government to advance economic and development opportunities in Somalia." Somali National Security Forces and their partners continue to make advancements into territory previously beset by terrorists. These Somali-led operations are necessary to advance Federal Government of Somalia objectives, spur economic activity and development, and release Somali citizens from the oppression and coercion of al-Shabaab. “Somali security forces are demonstrating command and control of their forces, success against al-Shabaab, and are holding ground,” said Col. Charles Bergman, lead integrator for U.S. Africa Command operations in Africa. “They are earning the respect of the Somali people.” For example, Somali forces recently cleared the south bank of the Shabelle River near the village of Bariire and established a security presence in the area. This mission was the latest in a series of operations designed to force al-Shabaab out of strongholds in Lower Shabelle. Operations such as this enable the Somali government to restore critical infrastructure in places like Bariire, leading to increased economic activity. "Employing an integrated interagency defense, diplomacy, and development approach, our efforts in Somalia help contain a potentially broader regional security threat,” said Waldhauser. “The assistance provided in Somalia is truly an international effort and there are encouraging signs of change, progress, and emerging options for Somalis."

Firstly both Djibouti and Ethiopian will be operated by the same management since they will have each other share swap. Djibouti Airlines will be regional and Ethiopian world wide. Puntland is courting both of them. Which one do you think will have regular flights? Which one will have flghts from Puntland to Arab Gulf countries first.

What is that all about our FBI? I was just asking those in the sea shores from African side if they see some of all this space based war from what is expected to be backward tribal places. There is so much high tech on top of the brave Yemenis. Yemen next to Afghanistan is also another grave of empires. Romans, Farsi, Xabeshi, Arabs, Ottoman, Egypt (3 times last one Jemal Abdulnasir escaped with 10K dead soldiers in short time), and even Britain never went inland knowing this.

He succeeded in what so many of them failed to do. That is why he is hated for the most part. He is accused for having allied with Kenya, yet the same people that accuse him of it are laying carpet for Ethiopia. Some in Mogadishu are laying carpet for Arabs in addition to Ethiopia and Eritrea. He has held his own over length of time and also with seemingly orderly place. He also survived some near death experiences.

Sudan allowed work permit, resdence and scholarships to Somalis that made it that far during the civil war and also later to this day Sudan tried to reconcile ICU and TFG, but ICU had supporters like Eritrea and Egypt and was confident will kill the TFG in Jowhar or Baydaba and rejected the negotiations. TFG and Warlords had agreed for Sudan, Djibouti, Yemen to come and help and Ethiopia to stay in Border areas and be only support and help only in emergencies. Sudanese and Djibouti were to be commanders and Yemen was to get into Mugadishu and work from that side. War Lords reneged once they went to their clans in Mugadishu and the whole thing fell apart. Yemen was first to send and open embassy if you remember. Sudan has never wronged the Somali people. -
- Missile Defence system could not prevent Yemeni Missile hit on an Airport - Yemenis took control of so many posts from the Allies - Yemenis downed Allies Drone - UAE has lost control or is unwilling to make cease fire between Southern separatist and Hadi allied forces. They are at it again - Yemeni defense minister visits his army (Yemeni and Houthi allied forces) inside Saudi Territory and broadcast from there - Yemeni defense minister says will be totally victorious coming months. Are the missiles visible from the African side?

Looks like he will. There is just so many forces wealthy and powerful arrayed against his efforts. The Turkish are also extremely busy and tied up at home and in Syria. Arabs even Egypt are taking advantage of this window where Turkish cannot do much to help. -

I have never seen or met or heard a Somali that wishes ill on the Sudanese. Either you are the first Somali I see this or you are not a Somali at all. Even ICU never spoke or commented on Sudan, when Sudan had committed to support the outcome of conference in Kenya among Somali groups, warlords.., if necessary even militarily for its implementation. -

Sudan’s rivals to resume talks on Sovereign Council soon: Ethiopian mediator June 11, 2019 (KHARTOUM) - The ruling Transitional Military Council (TMC) and the opposition Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) have agreed to resume talks on the Sovereign Council and to cease escalation, said the Ethiopian mediator Mohamoud Dirir on Tuesday. Opposition officials leaked that the TMC in its meetings with Dirir agreed to give the presidency of the collegial presidential body to the civilians together with the majority of seats, after refusing during the past weeks. In a press conference held on Tuesday, the special envoy of the Ethiopian Prime Minister said he held separate discussions with the TMC head Ahmed al-Burhan and the FFC leaders to facilitate the resumption of talks on the remaining sticking points. In addition, he said the two sides agreed to "refrain from inflammatory statements" and create a conducive environment before the resumption of talks. The TMC "agreed to take confidence-building measures including the release of Political Prisoners" and the FFC "agreed to call-off the Civil-Disobedience," he added. Following the attack on the main site of protest on 3 June and the killing of over 100 people, the opposition suspended sine die the talks and declared open-ended general protest to force the army to leave power. On Monday, the military council admitted that some military personnel have been involved in the bloody attack on the sit-in of pro-democracy protesters and pledged to release the finding of its investigation committee within 72 hours. For its part, the FFC announced the temporary suspension of the general strike starting from Wednesday but called on its neighbourhood committees to continue the mobilisations for the resumption of the strike. The three-day strike was largely followed by the Sudanese and allowed the opposition to show its strong popular support. In their previous discussions, the two sides agreed that during the three-year transitional period the county will be ruled by a collegial presidency, and a government of technocrats to achieve democratic and economic reforms and an appointed parliament with a majority of 67% to the FFC. Mahmoud Dirir is a prominent politician from Kililka, educated in Syria, was minister during Meles Zinawi days and sent to Egypt as Ambassador when the Nile issue heated up. He played a major role in bringing Sudan to Ethiopian side on Nile. He showed Sudanese that their national interest is in supporting GERD. In Ethiopian politics Mahmoud Dirir was leader of Somali democratic league that later united with WSLF and 4 others to form Somali Peoples Democratic Party that is governing party in Kililka now. He was on the list of prominent Somalis to be eliminated by Aweys and Co. It was easy for him to support the removal of any organization that Awys leads, since the same list was carried to ICU and Shabab. Now the Sudanese people are under total assault from each corners big and small. Al Bashir visit to Syria and restoring Syria in Arab league was the last nail. Now from America to Horn of Africa wants to get in its own group to power. Some have hired demonstrators Ukraine style, Some have snipers Ukraine style, Some are innocent who want a better Sudan. Mohamed Dirir must be under tremendeous pressure from Abiy (to support what Afwerki wants which is total cleanup of any religiosity in Sudan Government and never support from Sudan to anyone against Afwerki), America that wants total kicking out of Russia, China. Israel that wants Sudan to be just another obedient Arab country. Egypt with list of demands from Nile to the brotherhood and more..the western saying the Vultures can smell blood goes here. Will Mohmoud Dirir Succeed? What do you think?

Give military bases now to Russia, America, Saudia, Britania, Japan...and will have peace as well. If they are more than one and especially don't like each other, then you don't loose respect or sovereignty. -
When Eritrea was fighting for separation from Ethiopia, other separatist groups were being born every 2-3 years. Tigray (started with separatist group, but soon Ethiopian side took over) Oromo Sidama Somali After Eritrea separation not single new group of separatist born and all now are federalists. In UK after the Scottish revival for independence during Thatcher years Wales is now autonomous North East England wants to be autonomous region Unless you solve the first one and kill the separatist movement its only a matter of time for others to start.
