What Tullow oil does is find, confirm, start and leave. Selling at the stage of confirmed and started operation is most profitable unless one is Exon or Shell/BP.. The 200,000 Kenya exported is for testing by refineries. Every kind of oil is not refined in one refinery. After there is refineries that will take it, then continuous export will start. Buyers will also be known then. As you said 'InshAllah' so far has been nothing but disappointment in the Horn

When are Horn Africans to learn from Djibouti?
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
How come Djiboutis decisions are no concern to any human being or you still think I am AI. From 19th century to this date Djibouti has perfect record of having never been slave of colonizers against any of their neighbors or far of lands. Having been colonized does not make one slave, but enthusiastically clapping for your colonizer does. -
galbeedi, You seem to have so much confidence on Oromo, more than they have on themselves. What gives? The best cure for Somali in Ethiopia starts with total autonomy and as part time participate in the country's politics and full time in the economy. Keep peace primarily with all the Somali around from Djibouti to NFD and keep peace with neighbors in Ethiopia and be rough when needed to stand up and stand out.

Kenya offers the world its first oil production By Paul Antonopoulos Last updated Aug 27, 2019 NAIROBI – For the first time in its history, Kenya has become a country that exports crude oil. According to The East African, the first batch of 200,000 barrels was sold at auction for $12.6 million. It was bought by a Chinese company. The solemn shipping ceremony of the first oil tanker ship in Kenya took place in the port of Mombasa. President Uhuru Kenyatta personally raised the national flag on the ship. According to Tullow Oil CEO Paul McDade, pilot oil shipments will be made in small batches over the course of 18-24 months so that buyers can assess the quality of Kenyan hydrocarbons. Commercial production is expected to be launched in 2023. Oil was discovered in Kenya in 2012, in the Lokichar Valley in the west of the country. The reserves are estimated at 560 million barrels. The extraction began in 2018. Petroleum principal secretary Andrew Kamau Thursday revealed that ChemChina (UK) Ltd won the bid to lift the Turkana oil, in what marks Kenya’s entry into the league of oil exporting countries. - Advertisement - The Chinese firm, which is the oil trading arm of ChemChina Petrochemical, is engaged in crude oil trading, storage and procurement for ChemChina’s refinery companies. The firm also has a presence in West Africa, according to its online profile. “Kenyan government and Tullow Oil Plc together with its Joint Venture Partners in Kenya (Total and Africa Oil Corp) are pleased to announce that ChemChina UK Ltd has been selected as the buyer for Kenya’s first crude oil export.” The European Commission is mobilising $55.9 million for emergency humanitarian funding to help people hit by drought in four countries in the Horn of Africa. The biggest portion of humanitarian aid package goes to Somalia as $27.9 million will support drought affected communities, Ethiopia receives $22.3 million, Kenya $3.3 million and Uganda $2.2 million to fight famine. It is estimated that 13 million people need emergency food assistance due to drought caused by two consecutive poor rain seasons. The $55.9 million will assist humanitarian agencies to scale up action in hardest hit areas.

Kenya has become OIL EXPORTER. Oil was found in Ethiopia and Somalia in the 1915/20s. Agreement was signed between Ethiopia and American comapany (Standard oil - predecessor of EXON) in 1920. Then the British French Italian and Amxara overthrew the Prince and brought Haileslassie to power and the whole thing ended. Oil was found in Saudi Arabia in the 1930s, in Sudan 1960s, Uganda 1980s.... The War in Somalia in 1991 has everything to do with Oil in addition to local and regional issues. There were 4 American companies that had agreements with the late Barre regime and some of it is still valid. In the mean time our neighbor and fellow African Kenya has joined OPEC not formal yet. How disappointing is this for Somali and Ethiopians. This is an issue to hold your head down....Somalia and Ethiopia can bragg all they want about war, but development is measured in Dollars. Tullow Oil had agreements in both Somalia and Ethiopia in the 80s and 90s.

Addis Ababa is in limbo and will stay that way, until there is problem solver from outside the Oromo/Amxara. If I was Abiy, I would have appointed mayor from outside the Tigray/Amxara/Oromo. But then he had to calm the Oromo, otherwise they can overthrow him in a hurry.

My first thought was she is victim of the strong and they will always try to blackmail her or twist her words or associate her with something. Now I am in total doubt. I did not see her speak to the big issues raised about her. It may be unforgivable to her enemies, but marrying her brother to get him to USA is not, by me, hard to understand or accept. But the issues around her family are big questions to me. And her response or lack of it is bad. What do you think happened? She is victim and still victim of the strong and all controlling groups or She is an opportunist that took advantage of our vulnerability of wanting to see success that we have hard time seeing it back home in Africa.

When are Horn Africans to learn from Djibouti?
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
Djibouti refused to allow Arabs, at any price, to use their land, sea and air against the people of Yemen. If that is not principle and long term thinking, I don't know what it is. Every African should applaud this, if not every human being. -

Self respect is the foundation of everything you want to do. Djiboutians never committed any regrettable acts against anyone, using French, American, European or Chinese..protection Djiboutians never damaged any relations with anyone based on temporary alliances and short term benefits Djiboutians think of the Singapores, Qatars, Malta...as example to follow to navigate through the thick headed Horn of Africans. America comes some Horn Africans can't contain themselves and start sh-ting on everybody else... British come, Italians come, Ethiopians come, Egyptians come, Turkish come...there is always somebody in Horn of Africa bragging of being most preferred slave and abusing his brethern to make far of powers happy. When is this going to stop and have some dignity and forget few crumbs of money or few flights to visit places as guest of overlords?

Jawar Mohamed, "Amhara Regional State should be very very careful."
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
The Oromos including Jawar are to be blamed for the plight and conditions of other ethnics in Amxara Kilil. The Oromos ally with and talk a lot when confronting Amxara, but forget these Ethnics to be victims of Amxara, whever the Oromo think they are good with Amxara or are begging the Amxara to support them, as it is happening now. Tigray and Afar and Somali for the most part are out of this Oromo Amxara games of hide and seek. Adjiar role is limited and its only to himself and few of his close friends not Kililka yet. The problem is the Amxara want to be leading and never following whether Somali or Tigray or others. Their capacity is very limited other than diaspora. Oromo are inconsistent, get panic very easily. They even showed weakness on Federalism to get in favour with Amxara. History and experience is important. -
But Amxara are opposed to the most fundamental interest of the Somali. Self rule/governance as total autonomy as one can achieve. This is fundamental regardless what one thinks of alliances, brotherhood..etc If you do not exercise on the ground cultural, linguistic, media, educational, developmental..autonomy you can forget everything else in just one generation. Autonomy is what keeps societies to continue regardless in which continent or country they are.

And what makes you think that OO is not Somali? Have some doubt, it always helps. But it is not a question of IQ, it is just information. The Somali population is so big now and active in many countries and continents, it helps to consider other factors than political support of this or that idea. Broaden the criterion to cover from Tigray AI, Bot, half Somali, full Somali...and everything in between.
-
Agreed on the previous, but I think you are way of the mark on this: Historically The Somali are to the Oromo as the Tigray are to Amxara. They share a few things, but as the Somali is sea faring, nomad, trader and the Oromo is hunter gatherer and farmer so are the Tigray and Amxara. The Somali had writing system, first to accept Islam and everything that comes with it, The Tigray is the same among the Xabeshi for writing system, religion (both Christianity and Islam)..... Oromo will always feel threatened by Somali, even when Somali is not saying or doing anything, the same way the Amxara feel threatened by Tigray, even when doing or saying nothing. In Todays Ethiopia Somalis and Oromo, Tigray and Amxara can never be trusting and reliable allies to each other. Plus there is econmic issues that cannot make them allies. You do not have to hate somebody not to be friends, its called conflict of interest. Here is something you will find hard to believe: ONLF in its many incarnations including WSLF..has never been enemy with TPLF. There is no reason to do so. Geography, economy, culture, religion (Tigray majority Orthodox and Somali Muslim are not accused or blamed for any relious conflicts in Ethiopia). Both have something in common interest - Total autonomy - Oromo and Somali can only be allies if one accepts subordination and no autonomy. ONLF and OLF have never worked together even a single day in 40 years. Consider that fact. What do you think the reason is?

Ethiopia is always supported by every empire to stay in one country. Somalia is always discouraged by all empires to stay in one country. Only exception was in the 1950s when the British Empire wanted all Somali (except French Somaliland) in one country. Ethiopia had a core (Xabeshi) that by force or trickery kept the rest together. Somalis were never together in one rule. Look at Eritrean Tigray. Afar, Kunama, Bilen/Agew Ethnics split from Ethiopia which has same ethnics people. Look at Kurds who lost every opportunity to make a country by serving different empires and competing each other. Look at the Chinese split in about 5 countries and dominating in each. What is bad of Somali is that trying to establish one country when its impossible, and not trying or be absent when possible. The Clans have sufficiently grown to be considered as equivalent to nationalities. Even some sub clans have outgrown the sub-clan category and have become equivalent to clans. The O is equivalent to what is called a nation. Its easier to co-operate between Os in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia than its within each those countries. If China is the next world empire, one would hope that they might prefer to have Somalis in one country, but split hard to manage Ethiopia.

Lets start from the home front: Egypt Lost Sudan Recovering Ethiopia Lost Eritrea Lost Djibouti Standing firm (If anyone in third world can say they are masters of their own house, Djibouti is on top) Somalia Lost Kenya Mostly lost Oman Standing firm Yemen Confused UAE Lost Saudi Lost Qatar Standing firm Bahrain Lost and completely scared Kwait Standing firm Iraq Confused (Between Kurds who unfortunately are always tools of empires, Shiia and Suni and then America, Iran, Israel and Turkish) Syria Standing firm Israel Crossroads Lebanon Standing firm Anyone has different conclusion on any country? Note: In 1970s during Nixon admin Both Ethiopia and Iran that were under total American control fell as their master was tied up at home. Vietnam expelled America. Arabs gave up fighting Israel and left Palestinians to their misery created by Arabs.

Quite scary especially the video by Chris Hodges. He brought up a city in New Jersey that has no working people except social services/welfare, some cliic..etc. You see a house one day and next day door window piping is gone for scrap to China. He stayed for a week in that almost dead city with so many uninhabited half falling homes. Agenda TV show with Steve Paikin. With Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Chris Hedges. His latest book "America, the Farewell Tour (of the American Empire). The Collapse of the American Empire? This is the Vesti show on how America with internal fighting is destroying itself. Russian Pundits: USSA Heading Same Way as USSR, Collapse Seems Inevitable at This Point!

What's going with Erhiopia's Orthodox Church
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
You may be missing something. Orthodox Christian is known to be Tigray (Eritrea and Ethiopia). All others are converted into Orthodox by Tigray and Tigre (Eritrea). Now Tigre are mostly Muslim and Tigray are mostly Christians. Amhara and especially Oromos are recent converts. Similar also for Muslims. Tigray/Tigre/Afar are first then everybody else. Oromo are very recent converts by Somalis from east and south and Afar/Argoba/Tigray from North. -

The wheels coming off in Oromo region/parties
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
Its looking like that every day that passes. I guess the UAE arab cowboy has no horse. America also has already lost interest, going only through the motions. Biggest loser is Somali relatively. Power fell into wrong hands at the wrong time. Total autonomy of Media, education, administration, development projects was needed at this time more than ever. After 100 years of struggle, the Amxara have used a Somali to destroy what ever autonomy was achieved. 2 years a go every Ethiopian politician mentioned the Somali on the top 2 or 3 Kilils. Now nobody mentions the Somali if they just list 4 or 6 Kilils in their talk or writing. -
Now they forced Abiy to speak against his base/support (anti-federalist hidden). He had to agree with the Oromo organizations, because a call for him to go was planned on Irrecha. The Oromo are now openly stating on TV and Radio in Ethiopia "The change has been hijacked by enemies of the Oromo" Addis Ababa is one of the issues.
