Saudi Arabia Pressured Lebanese Prime Minister To Resign: Report
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
This is getting to be soup opera every day that passes. The American journalist who is the daily’s bureau chief in Beirut said Hariri was summoned early on Friday November 2 to Riyadh. “Mr. Hariri, long an ally of the Saudis, dressed that morning in jeans and a T-shirt, thinking he was going camping in the desert with the crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman.” “But instead he was stripped of his cellphones, separated from all but one of his usual cluster of bodyguards, and shoved and insulted by Saudi security officers. Then came the ultimate indignity: He was handed a prewritten resignation speech and forced to read it on Saudi television.” Read the rest here: http://english.almanar.com.lb/414610 -

Thank you all. In the age of George Soros, what was done in the Balkans, Ukraine, Arab Spring is being modified and used everywhere. Very ingeneous and creative in deed. maakhiri1, Is it big FAIL? Some things are created for moments life span and ones the wind blows, who cares, it will be forgotten. I think some Arab might have fallen for it and gifted millions already. Wouldn't that be geat success? These gulf states are now so desperate for any noise, they will fall for anything. -
Here is how Oromia media presented the Somali killing of last week
Old_Observer replied to galbeedi's topic in Politics
Quite the contrary. It is going to calm down. The president of Oromo along with others was in parliament to directly and openly explain as to what is happening. The Internet effect ones it passes, the eality and truth comes out and the people on the ground get chance to tell their story, which is much closer to truth, even if you may have doubt. Every state is responsible for order and safet of the citezns in that state. If not the state should either ask or the federal government will come on its own beyond a certain level of disorder. The Oromo have come to realze that, this thing can totally go out of their control and they will loose first before others. Every state in Ethiopia borders Oromia except Tigray. In the next few days you will see the Oromo diaspora tuning its campaign. It has already started. The Oromo diaspora is accusing the prime minister of siding with the Somali. The Oromo diaspora is accusing the Amhara of not helping them, but staying totally quite. The Afar and Tigray are of course always accused of siding with Somali. What does this show you? Total frastration that cannot be hidden anymore. The quick revolution that was expected is not happening and diaspora hates slow speed. -
Here is how Oromia media presented the Somali killing of last week
Old_Observer replied to galbeedi's topic in Politics
The use of that picture by the Oromo is utterly immoral and it shows to what extent the diaspora is really lost all human considerations. There is nothing untouchable anymore. This is a subliminal message, that when accumulated creates irreparable damage. All this being done from comfortable life in western countries. You would expect the diaspora Oromo to get together with Somali, condemn killings period and challenge the governments to either resign or keep order. So sad. To make matters worst even the Diaspora Oromo knows at this point they cannot enhance their influence in Ethiopia by this method, but still keep pressing for killings to continue, hoping the country will blow up. -
Saudi Arabia Pressured Lebanese Prime Minister To Resign: Report
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Bedewin with money. And since they have money the western countries are tripping on each other for them. The competition between America, France and UK is just unseemly, empires old and current. The Lebanon case is the best. Now even the Suni in Lebanon have more sympathy with Hizballah than with Gulf states. The election of Michael Auon was what broke Saudi and UAE in Lebanon. The Jerusalem issue will conclude it all in favour of HizbAllah. The support of christians to HizbAllah is now complete. Saudis are caught by the intensity of conflict in USA. -
He is most experienced and knowledgeable with Technology, security and finance. I have heard an interview him and 2 other fellow fighters did some years ago. Even during the fighting against Derg Previous government, he was known for his technological savieness. He is well respected among fellow ministers, more quite is what even some opposition media is writing.

anoo Kale, I read today a lengthy article in an Israeli publication, as to why the American christians wanted the Jerusalem issue more than the Israelis. Everyone is trying to speed up their prophecies. The Christians in America cannot wait for Israel to destroy the mosque and build the third temple in its place. Then the American christians would move to Israel, the Jewish would convert to christianity and would be the end of this current world we live with. The selected ones would be taken to heaven and the rest of us in hell or the wretched life. They are quite serious about it. The evangelical preachers are in competition as to who can achieve this faster. In the mean time collect more money here until they can push president Trump or prime minister Netanyahoo to speed things up. If these people succeed in creating wars, new and bigger to speed up the destruction, yours and I discussion is mute point.

Video: Yemeni Houthis Send Strong Warning to Somaliland

Some one is thinking. Never even considered it. The Houthi also will not do anything like this. They would have done to Aden if their calculation was so simplistic. -
Is There a Such Thing as Somali Politician?
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
I hope you did not misunderstand, what I tried to say. The problem is every TFG that went to Mogadishu, gets sunk in the sands of the Capital. At some point, it may be better to strengthen a TFG in one of the smaller cities and move a minitry at a time as Mogadishu changes, which would do much faster. Imagine with all the money the TFG ministers dispense missing. The departments and directorates of some functions can stay in Mogadishu. BTW. President Abdulahi Yusuf also did not say permanent move out of Mogadishu. -

Dahireeto, The worry is not what the Yemeni will do to Somaliland, but what Qatar and Turkey can do to Somaliland. I am sure the Egyptians are all glee for they were refused a base and also any activities against Ethiopia from Somaliland. Regarding Yemen, its only the historical side and that I hope the Yemeni understand the situation and Somaliland can resist sending its soldiers like Eritrea into the fake alliance of Saudi-UAE command. -

Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Che, Don't give up hope. Its actually in these seemingly insurmountable times that some brave soul is born. I am sure, I will anger a lot of people here, but one idea that seems to be missing is establishing a new capital (call it temporary or transitional). The late President Abdulahi Yusuf had this proposed at the time, when the problems with the Capital seemed intractable and also requiring more money, more time, more lives than what he thought was necessary. Jowhar, Baidowa..etc were being considered. If you do this the capital would be peaceful in a Mogadishu minute. -
Inauguration of Somaliland's 5th President H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi
Old_Observer replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
This experience of navigating your way in shark infested part of the world, and experiment of bringing together the nomad, the twitterer to be governed in relative peace is a great achievement. Bravo Somaliland. In Uganda they are making constitutional change to allow Museveini to run 2 more times. -

Old_Observer replied to Deeq A.'s topic in Politics
Its too bad that Somaliland does not have the Djibouti Option, which is give base to anyone who is who and it becomes in every ones interest to keep you relatively safe. You even get in a position to chose among the small time players. You can even tell the "big" Saudis not to conduct military operations from your land, and they have no option, but to accept it. The remaining options for Somaliland is Turkey, UK, Russia, India, Japan. Otherwise Somaliland will be like Eritrea with only one "bad" customer and no options to even ask questions, let alone to influence them to respect your connection to the people in Yemen. -
anoo Kale, I think, that is a bit too strong. At the very least you could have said West and East Jerusalem. Its too big of a jump. Never be too sure of what comes next, unless you are one with the objective and in control working for it (objective). What do you think happens if America weakens really fast as did the British Empire, which looked too big to fail until the time of WWI? I am absolutely certain either the Chinese, Germans, Japanese...who ever comes on top would prefer to have a Palestinian state and East Jerusalem as capital or at the very least East Jerusalem being International city like Vatican, City of London etc. It looks darkest before down. What if the Palestinians or force in aligned to their interest, takes over Jordan or Egypt or both? What if the Saudi monarchy collapses? Believe it or not the Soviet Union has more role in the selection of the House of Saud than the British initially. The British had other designs, but panicked and selected the house of Saud, took away and even created friction for the Soviets. It took centuries for the Zionists to succeed in establishing Israel. So many perished in the process and it looked darkest at times, but WWI came and boom new day.

Tillamook, My apology for not making my point clear. In my humble opinion, It is not in the interest of the Somali at this particular time to break the Elephant. Even if I completely agree with you that these two neighborly and brotherly people should not be quarreling, let alone killing, but in the interest of truth, for so many reasons some historical, some current there has never been a good working together between organizations from the two peoples. Remember that SPDP is now closer to Tigray than to Oromo, ONLF was closer to Tigray than to OLF, WSLF and SDL were always closer to Tigray than OLF or OPDO. This does not have much to do with government power, since both Somali and Tigray was not in Derg or King's time. I don't know what the reason is, but the reality is never worked together, except here and there some statements and alliances that seem to be more forced by Eritrea than with conviction and trust to achieve together for the people. As per the killings, at this point, only the federal army and police need to be deployed (to be practical) since the regional police have been part of the blame. Not only the regional police, but the Oromo are accusing the Liyu forces too. True or not the propaganda with disregard and disrespect of human life, so many innocent ones at that, has been transformed and gone out of control of the Oromo. It has become quite clear even to the Oromo regional government. Let alone the facts on the ground even the optics (which is very important for politicians) of it has become abundantly clear.

Canada's Immigration Minister Interview on AlJeezira
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
Very Interesting in deed and what is most interesting is that the minister is one of the best faces of the Somali. That is how individuals change and or improve image of a community. -

Tillamook, I cannot accuse you of being disingenuous, for it can be quite innocent view. Are some of you telling me that, no people are capable of doing these cruelties either to each other or to others be it in Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya and in Europe as well. Lets not repeat some saying because it sounds good at the moment. What does the Somali had to do with what happens in Oromia, What does the Amhara or Tigray had to do with what happened in Mogadishu. This culture of blaming others who have no role or small role to play is simply avoiding the obvious. Every people on earth are capable of being good and or being bad and cruel to others and sometimes to each other. That is a fact. The main and most important role for Illey is keep his region orderly, be prepared to act when situation calls by himself or in conjunction with others again to preserve his region. This is the time when blaming others on facebook or twitter will not help save lives and maintain order on the ground. Otherwise why are we born in this horn of Africa where every one wants. British, Italians, Americans, Russians, Chinese, Ottomans and even small time players Egypt, Saudi, UAE, Qatar...hard to believe even colonies of colonies want to have a say and piece of this region. We are there, therefore we do the best we can each time, of what is best for the people, the human being and not the hills and mountains as border of this or that.

Thank you YoniZ, The way federalism is supposed to work is: 1. If you do not want the federal government or others in the federal system to play in your house, then you need to play in all aspects of your house. You want your own education then do everything to make it your own. You want to have your own government at every level then make your own. 2. If you do not want to have 50,000 soldiers from other nationalities and cultures all young roaming your state then take responsibility of security of your region. If every region takes care of its area then the federals would have nothing to do and no reason to be there. The border becomes small problem and small force will do. If you have followed the current situation in Oromia region, I heard one of their officials complaining that the federal services came without being called by Oromia. What he missed was that the deaths were caused either by tacit encouragement or by lack of capacity by the Oromo, therefore the federals have to go there. The influence and status of the Somali in Ethiopia is a lot higher than any other time. Before of course was forgotten and later just another region, but now the Somali is seen as someone capable of governing, developing in areas critical for survival, implementing projects and succeeding, managing security not only his own, but helping others too. So much so, that Oromo and Amhara diaspora were making fake news that the Somali Liyu was in Gonder to bring order and peace to the area last year.
-
Actually if there is any brain cells left with the Oromo leaders, they should be the first once to oppose it. One cannot take Premiership of the federal government by threatening of killing and also actually killing civilians and poor farmers of other nationalities in your region. There is a lot of Habeshi individuals killed in Oromo region that is not being announced in the Amhara diaspora media on purpose. The Amhara diaspora is waiting for the Oromo to keep going. I also think the South will not accept it, since there is conflict at their bordering areas with Oromo.
-
There is no need to do that. They each are strong enough on their own regions and it by the looks of it, even ONLF has come to the realization that this would be the very worst time be in the way of the Somali region, which is to be commended. The Oromos have already achieved the impossible all by themselves. Deepening and taking to the heighest level of suspicion which was anounced from the meeting of the EPRDF executive meeting. Mistrust is killer. If the Oromo are complaining of Tigray dominance, everyone else except them have now come to realize that the Oromos are going for dominance. In politics if you cannot achieve something mischivous quickly without the other side realizing, if your objective becomes known, you cannot succeed. Timing is everything and method. The Oromo already failed on both. I hope you know what it means for the Oromo to sign and anounce that all their movement and mob is based on suspicion. Yet that is what they agreed to and anounced for all Ethiopians including on their own Media.

Che, Djibouti and Somaliland have only one option if they want to stay alive in relation to the Somali and Afar in Ethiopia. Both Somaliland and Djibouti have to if they can support the Somali and Afar regions, and if they can't stay as far as possible from the situation. Both Djibouti and Somaliland know and are practicing this to a tee. The moment Djibouti interfers against either region, its the end of the regime. The moment Somaliland interfers against Somali region its the end of her. Puntland will also stay away from this, unless to help the Somali region, as a united region, since Puntland's interest is being there a government in Ethiopia supportive and agreeable of Puntland, which has been and still is the reality.
