MMA, I don't know if that is the image of Farmaajo that is wanted to be promoted "A Somali president that is against Ethiopia", but it can't be furthest from Truth. Politics has not much to do with truth, but president Farmaajo is accused the opposite by Egyptians. I don't know how he feels about Ethiopia, but more than you or I, he knows he cannot build rebuild Somalia on planet mars, away from Ethiopia, kenya or Djibouti. The more connections and less enemity always the better.

Its a psychological demise of any entity when every failure is balmed on Foreigners. It slowly becomes an expression so common, that is debilitating. Does anyone Somali think that he/she can wheel and deal with Dubai and there is nothing wrong with it, since they have money, but would not deal with a neighbor and in many cases than you want to admit a relative, just because is presumed to be poor. Poverty of material wealth can change in a hurry, poverty of culture, identity and heritage in many cases is irreversible. Some of you seem to think that there is no common purpose common interest between regions. According to your logic it has to be that person A is a slave of person B. In that you are never able to see what makes person A and person B agree on something. The Afar are closest people to Tigray, yet I have never heard an Afar opposition blaming his Afar brother being slave to Tigray. I never heard a Tigray saying why Tigray province of the old had to give up half of the territory to establish Afar kilil. Its always a weakness to define your own brother, in terms of what you consider a foreigner. Where is General Gebre now? Back in Ethiopia. Almost all Ethiopian activities in Somalia is now lead, conducted by Ethnic Somali officials. Ethnic Tigray are now becoming less and less since balancing of Ethnics is moving up from soldiers to commanders. Why you cannot see the fact that Somali kilil in Ethiopia has shared clans and sub-clans with Djibouti, Somaliland, Somalia, NFD...It has very close working relationship with Djibouti and Puntland. Fairly OK relationship with Somaliland at least respect each others peace. Fairly ok and improving relationship with Mogadishu. Not so good relations with Kenya, depending on how the shared population feels. There was a time where a Sudanese (ex-PM) Al Turabi accused Al Bashir as Weyannie means Tigray. Al Turabi stars after that were dim, never recovered. Such is the self dignity in Sudan. First of all, I say don't hate anyone, it hurts you more than the one you hate, but if you have to hate as Somali, Saudi Arabia would come first. Here is a wealthy country next door that has never contributed a penny even to people starving, yet will spend millions to support destructive Somali elements. The republic could have been back and in business, if you only ignored the lies from some corners that said the late Abdullahi Yusuf is Tigray. Most of you listened to those voices when the truth was the president was proven more Somali than the detractors. f you divide the Somalis for each country that ever walked to lands of the Somali as Tigray, Ethiopia, British, French, Kenya, UAE, Egypt, Turkey etc its is very easy to see where that leads. BTW yes. The late Abdullahi Yusuf was Tigray and Tigray was Puntland, maybe there is ancestral relation, maybe its that he was close with them during the 80s and 90s, maybe was SSDF and WSLF and TPLF relations, I don't know, but that had nothing to do with the politics. It was groundless accusation from Ali Jama, during his conflict with Yusuf in Puntland. .

wow maakhiri1, haven't laughed as hard lately. It happens to be true. The Ethiopians shut down internet and facebook you name it for university entrance exams, yet someone someone scores 100% when his/her teacher did not expect him/her to just barely pass. none the less this is a great move anything to minimize if not eliminate is great.

galbeedi, When can I have my Tigray birth certificate signed authenticated by galbeedi sultan/king of every individual Somali in the globe? How much is the cost of the certificate. Tigray this Tigray that is being overused. I can give you references for what I posted, and you can still say its wrong or ignore it all together. BTW Tigray does not need my defence, but in the interest of fairness, Tigray in all of history has the least negative interaction with any part or territories the Somali people occupy. If your point is ONLF and current regime in Ethiopia, I can tell you that is more lead, chosen and done by Somalis than the Tigray could ever do. Facts are facts. One question if I may. Why do you find it so incredible that a Somali would have the views I have here on the internet, yet you hear, read maybe see Somalis fighting with guns in districts and regions? I think sometimes you are either forgetting or underestimating the fact that Somalis are in a very big territory, in number of countries in East Africa alone, and now growing not only in numbers, but in status and participation around the world. In your exchange with maakhiri1 its understandable to question the federal sytem and its problems in the republic. To be suspicious and dig deep of who benefits from this or that arrangement, but most useful and helpful is always proposing a better alternative. It is always easy to come up with cons of a system, but coming up with alternative not only that looks better in paper, but people will accept and even be prepared to give their neck if necessary is most difficult.

Trust me, that I have no less dislike of king Minelik, but talking about forced conversion in that time and later is something that did not happen. King Minelik convereted Oromo from Traditional religion, but not Moslems. He converted a mosque to church in Harer long before these times, and is still thought history now since EPRDF came to power. Remeber that Menelik has a lot of soldiers from the north, Habeshi when fighting the Sayyid, but in Habeshi parts of Ethiopia they have the same proportions of Muslim and Christian as they had thousand year ago. Half of the Afar in Ethiopia were in Tigray province, before kilils came and the Afar in Tigray were always majority Muslim. Menelik did a lot of atrocities, but forcibly converting moslems to christian is not one of them.

I think his intensions and methods have been hijacked while in prison. The party that is in power in Oromo kilil just finished its 10 day meeting. Is going to work to make Oromo language official working language of all Ethiopia They regret the chaos killing of other ethnics that happened in Oromo kilil and will work to keep law and order Reconcile and solve issues with Somali kilil and others (which means south) The Amhara opposition has already started in earnest now to demonize what they considered hero against Tigray a month ago. Somali kilil TV has started broadcast Amharic language. That was one of the tools Oromo tried to create bad image even though it did not work. galbeedi, You see how politics can move faster than anything. The ground has shifted already. It is always who benefits. It looks like the only beneficiary are traders that could not have competed without this chaos. The traders there now have expelled the non-local ones, but the people loose since no new investment will go to places where other ethnics were attacked.

Holac, There is a factor called Epicenter. The South was least affected by the Darawish movement. Its easy to be supportive of your kin and folk when things are relatively not affecting, but if you are at the epicenter its another story. The fight was not only against Britain, it was against anyone foreigner. Britain and Ethiopia were the only ones that saw the danger to them and confronted him. Any nationalist movement which spends any time fighting its own base and people cannot suceed and that is what happened. All that bravery in fighting would have probably made bigger impact if it was against Italy and joined with the Boqor and Sultanates fighting against Italy.
-
maakhiri1, I disagree. Let alone for a man who fought colonialists, even if he was a rebel with sos so cause, and was so brave, you would just admire the man. And also the Sayyid was from kilil 5 (here goes new debate). Illey is not slave to anyone. Its just the Somalis in Ethiopia have chosen to stay there. The Somalis in kilil 5 are actually one of the few ethnics recognized as staying by free will and made sure there are contitutional guarantees that they can enforce if change of mind. Slave is really too heavy of a word in this case. As much as the positive, the Sayyid also left quite a lot of negative experience. The tactics used on the Somalis by the Darawish may even have contributed to disunity when it came to the 1950s. But Illey is just celebrating the bravery and poetry of the man. Nothing more analytics is needed, since from there becomes disuniting. All other Ethiopians admire him for his bravery and accomplishments against the most capable and most competent empire. Of course its to be expected some unhappy folks from king menelik, but most noisy ones are in Diaspora. There are two things common about the Sayyid: 1. everyone admires his bravery, military tactics as well against the British 2. His poetry. On the contraray even those who admire him highest agree the Sayyid would have made a really bad Boqor, Sultan, president..and his quick to anger when people did not agree with him or follow him is negative for nationalist fighter.

galbeedi, With all that, you just have to give it to the man his admiration. In my view corruption is something that is unavoidable. You can only minimize it. When money comes faster than it can be absorbed by the system, somebody is going to grab it, as in Ethiopia. This mobile business is as you said most dangerous in Africa. Its money printing business only one step lower than a bank. Now maybe too late for Somalia since the companies are too strong, maybe they have their own army, but the government can force regulations and make them fight each other. Djibouti is not a place for industry, so its ok if the people are relaxed and taking it easy. As for the man, he is now past the Somali areas in Ethiopia. He is investing in Agriculture in western Ethiopia near the Saudi farms. That is smart for himself a monopoly on food and for djibouti a somewhat guaranteed food supply. Over all he is the best of all Somali heads of state, governments etc. Iley is doing much with less in terms of education, health and infrastructure. BTW the Habeshi in Djibouti are fast becoming third Ethnic there. The Habeshi from north are accepted by both the Somali and Afar and can grow fast with all the service industry needed for all the armies. Kismayo would have been king of all ports, since Ethiopian population close to it is really big and would not require big money to build roads between two countries. The unfortunate thing is Kismayu has most enemies starting from Djibouti to Kenya every port in between is now against Kismayu. I am not sure how much the locals understand this and make arrangement even if its against Mogadishu but makes their area peaceful and open for business. What do you think the amount of time and energy the SFG spends specifically in and about Mogadishu while the rest of the country is growing inpatient. -
Is this fair meaning proportional to population. Why don't you say it, what it is you are advocating. Why don't I ask you from what you and I might know. Can you describe to me what means fair between Somali and Oromo? For me the Somali and Oromo are equal. Period. Comparison of land mass, comparison of population size, comparison of ratio of young to old in the population has no place. You and I do not need to beat around the bush. The Somali Ethnic is equal to Oromo Ethnic in Ethiopia. That is the constitution and that is the law of societies. Any domination of one society's culture, religion etc is always temporary that comes from economic, military etc conditions. If you count by contribution to what Ethiopia has become, and getting rid of the old Ethiopia, the Somali has more than double the contribution of the Oromo, but the Somali is not asking for double. As victor and magnanimous the Somali is saying We are all equal.

Djibouti will be the Luxumberg, Leitchenstein, Dubai, Hongkong, Singapore..of Africa Their security is guaranteed by current empires and even next empires. They have the most hightech port in Africa They soon will have two separate rail link with Ethiopia The base rental income is clear cash that Djibouti does not have to lift a pen to get it and its big. Its rumoured that Saudi Arabia offered an amount of money more than the Americans, Chinese and Germans pay combined, still with strict condition that the base will not be used for activities in Yemen. Everything is looking up and up with very little risk from Eritrea and a competition if successful from Somaliland and Puntland. -
I know a few of you will come back with usual forum culture of making one an outsider, but none the less the truth needs to be told. Mogadishu will keep killing, ailing, aborting a lot more federal governments as long as the city state is not put in its place. Its needs to be made either a federal city and it can have even mayor from remotest village folk. It maybe also a solution starting a new capital city in the middle of the country. Business will boom and every Somali has cchance and is at home in this new city. otherwise: half of the time of federal government is spent on and in Mogadishu. One cannot run a country, especially a country that needs more than other countries to have a country government being under pressure from a city. Big cities have always divided loyalty even to foreign countries. This is true everywhere. London is more loyal to bankers who have no specific country, but where ever money is. Mogadishu will be more loyal to UAE, USA, China or anyone with a bag than it will be loyal to a remote Somali village out in the country. This is a fact. This problem needs be solved first, then the federal government can be equaly responsible and responding listening all regions.

Oodweyne, You possibly could not be attempting to tell me that you have soldiers going to possible war and death, for free? The Jebhat days where you are just fed bread and water and sometimes goat here and there are gone. Even that needed some money even taking weapons from government was not enough. There definetely is big finance behind this marching to secure the borders as they were between British Empire and Italy. I don't think its UAE although that is possible. They want to punish Djibouti for ignoring them and at one time telling them and Saudis to take a hike. They can not do it, openly but hopefully they do it by investing a lot and fast in Somaliland in peaceful way with a smile.

If you don't mind let me give you a bit of history how the federal sytem came about in Ethiopia. The basic situation was that the Somali and Tigray were not only capable, but had most force to separate if things went wrong. Fortunately for Ethiopia they were the two that came up with Federation. The one who benefitted the most is Oromo. All their provinces never knew each other. They had some sultanates and some tribes orginezed before colonial powerscame and the Ethiopian provincial system kept them apart. Now from Sudan to Somalia the Oromo is in one administration, one language..etc WSLF was the firstorganization that put out from a conference a resolution for federalism as the only condition for staying in Ethiopia. Then TPLF and EPDM (that is now governing group in Amhara region) agreed and did the same. They did not have a problem because their territories were always autonomous admins even when they had Emperors. There were kings or Ras or Sultan for every locality. Federalism is the only way Ethiopia can stay as a country until someone comes up with better system. If you are reasoning with Oromo dominating you could not be more wrong. Federalism and dominating do not go together. In politics its always normal to accuse your competitor of things you do. The accusation against Tigray comes from certain corners. The fact is these corners happen to be the most noisy and most in internet. If what you read on the internet was true Ethiopia would have been dead country long ago. There are people who think that they are only ones capable and deserving to govern Ethiopia, but Ethiopians know better. Did not see any peace or development except rebellions.

Tillamook, There is quite a few mistakes or intentional misdirections in the Report/Review/Analysis. The simplest one for example is the way Egypt was rejected by every territory of Somalis. First was SFG- Told Egypt that Somalia is good and ready for bilateral relations, but not to harm our neighbor for your sake. There is nothing in it for us. Egypt offered old things like agricultural investments and so on, but nothing useful immediately now. Even agricultural fields is predicated on bringing thousands and thousands of Egyptian farmers. Next was Somaliland: The answer was same as SFG plus a flat no to anything that would be security risk for Ethiopia Djibouti: Have animosity with Egypt from 3 years ago and the Egyptians are in no position to say anything when the whole world is in Dgibouti. According to the article it seems to show that Somalis were warned or told by Ethiopia. This is compeltely false. Except for the TFG of Arta, every Somali government know Egyptians are of no help, but want free service and help from Somalis against Ethiopia. The Egyptian Security chief, deputy foreign minister have toured for week at a time trying to see if there is any opportunity in Somalia and or Somaliland. The Egyptians are so tretcherous they had offered Somaliland something that will lead to recognition if they get military base in Zeila away from others, but Djibouti was insenced about it, and credit to Somaliland said no. Ethiopia has more influence in AU than Egypt which sometimes translates to UN since UN usually takes same as AU. The fact is Egypt initiated the Somalis said NO. It snot the otherway round. Ethiopia may for sure have said Thank you to all Somalis. Other points later. This was just glaring mistake or intensional misdirection that is nt supported by facts. One quick one: A lot of people including this analysis has mistaken view of Djibouti Ethiopia relations: Djibouti shares both Somali and Afar with Ethiopia. Since both were nomadic societies there is more people interaction than other countries do at borders Djibouti has a lot of investment in Ethiopia Water and Electricity for Djibouti comes from Ethiopia Eritrea is so failed in its competition with Djibouti, because it chose violent way of destructive competition instead of peaceful, this led to Djibouti even relying more on Ethiopia Djibouti the way its going will be most influential in Ethiopia. If one is smart its easy to influence a big country with a lot of problems. UAE is on way out of Djibouti so any analysis from them will be biased Thank you. Is good post.

Tillamook, First of all do you agree that if a country is a federal system, there has to be a mechanism that treats equally the constituent parts of the federation. Yes or No. If you agree to this, what do you think it should be? That is my main argument. If you say regions the smallest Hareri of less than 50,000 will be equal to 30 million Oromo. One way or the other there has to be a mechanism or power institution that is equal to all stake holders. Dislike of Tigray or someone else should not cloud our thinking. As for Tigray, why not ask their immediate neighbors. Sudan, Agew, Afar, Tigray and Afar Eritrean side, and to a small degree Amhara. These are the nationalities that border them. The Abyssinian system before moved south to Amhara was always based on Boqors and Sultanates. Never did one Ethnic or tribe origined person govern another tribe or Ethnic. This kind of unitary system started with King Minelik and Ethiopians had nothing but war and destruction and rebellions. Other than those who raise the old flag of kings in the demonstrations you see outside and also some towns in Ethiopia, Even the Oromo that you think are against the system would stop their demos and defend the stystem in a minute. It is quite amazing though when the whole east africa now knows Tigray. You and persons like you must be really influential.
-
Oodweyne, Now you turn into Arab war propaganda style. And you seem to do it well. You seem well prepared to build an empire. Who is financing this empire building? That is my question, and the only question.
-
I was always wondering why non of the european or Asian powers are not locatin between Bassaso and Mogadishu at least a military post on Ras Allula or Quandela. This is also historical. There was a fairly independent sultanate there just before the Italians arrived.

What a joke? Egypt's Presidential race Candidates have one by one been dropping out of the race; the opposition has boycotted the vote; and the sole challenger to the incumbent president is no more than his staunch supporter. Welcome to Egypt’s 2018 presidential election. With less than two months to go before the vote, there has been much controversy surrounding the race to presidency, with almost all candidates quitting at some point under mysterious circumstances. Abdel Fattah el Sisi, who took over from Egypt’s first democratically-elected president Mohamed Morsi following a successful military coup in 2013, is now looking to score a comfortable victory in the March elections. Who is challenging the incumbent? Sisi’s sole challenger now is Ghad Party chairman Moussa Mostafa Moussa, who was effectively the president’s campaign manager before announcing a last-minute bid to enter the race. The Egyptian Constitution requires candidates to get endorsements from at least 20 members of the Parliament or collect no less than 25,000 valid signatures in 10 provinces before being allowed into the two-round face-off. In the absence of any other candidate contesting the election, Sisi could have won with only 5 percent of the vote. The incumbent president still looks at an easy victory, enjoying the support of 464 MPs -- roughly two-thirds of lawmakers -- compared to Moussa’s 47. Where did all the candidates go? But Moussa, who collected signatures for Sisi before throwing his hat in the ring literally a few minutes before the deadline, was only the last of the six candidates who had stepped forward. Here’s what happened to the other five: Ahmed Shafiq Egypt’s former prime minister -- the last to serve as part of the administration of long-time dictator Hosni Mubarak -- Shafiq announced his bid in late November 2017 from the United Arab Emirates, where he had lived in exile since losing a face-off with Morsi. The former Air Force general, who was seen as Sisi’s most powerful rival, withdrew his bid after the UAE suddenly decided to deport him back to Egypt, where he disappeared from public view for 24 hours and told a TV host upon return that he was reconsidering his bid. In a dramatic walk back from his stinging candidacy statement, Shafiq said his time in exile "may have kept me away from carefully following updates in the homeland, of progress and accomplishments." Mohammad Anwar Sadat After announcing a much-anticipated bid to stand, the 62-year-old nephew of Egypt’s assassinated ruler Anwar Sadat backed out of the race earlier this month, citing fears for the safety of his supporters, whom he claimed had been chased away by Sisi’s elements. “People who volunteered to collect votes of confidence were scared away,” Sadat said. “I‘m scared for the young men and women and don’t want to expose them to this, because we won’t be able to do anything for them.” Ahmed Konsowa Shortly after announcing his bid, Colonel Konsowa of the army was court-martialed and handed a six-year prison term for "stating political opinions contrary to the requirements of military order," according to his lawyer. Sami Anan The former military chief of staff announced earlier in January that he would challenge Sisi, but the bid was short-lived since Anan and members of his campaign were arrested. Mahmoud Refaat, a spokesman for Anan’s campaign abroad, said the government had even arrested family members of pro-Anan campaigners. Khaled Ali The prominent rights lawyer ended his presidential bid in late January, hours after Sisi submitted his nomination documents, and a day after Anan was arrested by the military. Ali told a press conference that “the opportunity for hope in this presidential election has gone.” Where does the opposition stand? Having called the elections “absurd,” eight opposition parties have already signed a joint declaration, asking voters to boycott the vote, arguing that Sisi is getting in the way of "any fair competition." Hamdeen Sabahi, who ran against Sisi in the 2014 election, has been credited with launching the campaign with the slogan "Stay at home," urging political parties to fight back against the president's "brutal tyranny of power." "It is not right for us to surrender to what has become an absurdity bordering on madness," said Abdel-Geleel Mustafa, another leading opposition figure. The calls for boycott have been met with a strong warning from Sisi. "Be warned. What happened seven or eight years ago, will not happen again in Egypt,” the president said, referring to mass protests that took place in 2011 and ended Mubarak’s rule. Sisi is no stranger to cracking down on dissent, with Morsi’s supporters being his main target. The heavy-handed crackdown has, according to rights groups, killed over 1,400 people. The government has also sentenced some 200 people to death in mass trials. The outlook Aside from the political clashes, Egypt has been struggling to control an economy that has been spiraling downward. While Sisi has put all his hopes in a $12 billion loan package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), forecasts show no quick recovery amid surging price pressures and slow progress toward reform. A survey conducted by the Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research found in late December that some 71 percent of people in the populous North African country have described their family income as inadequate for their necessary expenses and needs. Broken promises? Not long ago that Sisi tried to relay a important message to the world in a speech before the parliament. "From this place, under parliament's dome, the Egyptian people declare to the entire world that they have laid the foundation of a democratic system and rebuilt constitutional institutions," the president told lawmakers in January 2016. The rest is history.

http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/64/289370/Egypt/Politics-/Egypt-army-dismisses-NYT-claims-of-Israeli-airstri.aspx What goes never mentioned is that Egypt cannot fly fighter jets or go with Army more than a battalion at a time without permission of Israel. That is part of the agreement the Egyptians got back the Sinai.

The fake government of Saudi Arabia in Yemen will soon relocate outside of the South. http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/2/8/289227/World/Region/Conflict-in-Aden-The-unity-of-Yemen-in-peril.aspx The former president of South Yemen, Ali Nasir Mohamed Husani, urged southern forces to resume dialogue and not to become “promoters of these wars”. Nasir, who remains a widely revered political figure, held that the ouster of the Bin Daghr government would not solve the problems of the nation and the Yemeni people. Nor would any new government be able to resolve the crisis in the absence of a comprehensive solution for Yemen, both north and south. He called for the creation of a new leadership and a national unity government and called on all armed factions to lay down their weapons and surrender them to the Ministry of Defense of the national unity government so as to pave the way for the establishment of a bi-regional federal state for a specified period of time, during which the people of the south would be able to exercise their right to self-determination.

London: Anglo-Somali or Anglo-Somaliland Society
Old_Observer replied to Deeq A.'s topic in Politics
The aim of the Society is defined as : “The Anglo-Somali Society is a non profit-making international friendship society whose objective is to foster friendship and understanding between Somalis and the English-speaking world, and to develop cultural and social relations between them “ If that is the stated objective and the objecive is people to people, than as Dahireeto said, what is the reason that it needs to be made regional. I think the notion of going total separation is not good. The people of Somaliland will always be Ethnic Somali, regardless if region, seperate country or province. Neither of the Koreans could be less or more Korean, The Tigray in Eritrea had same politics of saying they are only Eritrean, but now they are coming back to separating citizenship of country and history, language, identity as people is different. Even Somaliland Republic at UN or AU will still be a republic of Somali people. -
The next aspect of your logic means that a Welayita (current PM from south Ethiopia), an Afar or Somali can never expect to be prime minister no matter if he/she can "walk on water". A French cannot be prime minister of Canada, a Sikh can never be PM of India etc. Since you focused only on the Tigray, it clouded your thinking. I don't expect you to think that way if I asked you to formulate a mechanism of how Ethiopians should organize their politics and state. "The Amhara are four times larger than Tigray" galbeedi. This is true and even more. The Amhara are 10 hundred times more than Tigray on internet, facebook, past governments etc. Again your thinking and logic got clouded. Let me give you example of what you might be more familiar, Somalis in Ethiopia. Lets say tribes since the Somali is one Ethnic. By population you are aware that some Somali clans or tribes maybe 10 villages and others maybe 1/3 of the region and others maybe a city in the region. Amhara is both a region and Ethnic, there are a lot more ethnics in the region that you are ignoring, one of them which you mght know is Agew. It does not have part in the internet world, since the people were excluded in past Ethiopia and many forced to speak Amharic to the detriment of their langugae, but on the ground is something else. There are a lot more Ethnics in Amhara region and also the Amhara ethnic itself has tribes like anyone else. The Amhara for example have no idea that different tribes in Somali kilil played major roles at many critical times, regardless of number of population. When times are critical or significant never underestimate people. Internet can bring destruction of cultures and peoples, but it hurts more those who are in it than those outside. The Amhara ethnic is more than 4 times than Tigray on the internet which is true if that is where you base your understanding. Then in that case the Tigray should not have defeated a million man army of Amhara. Things are not the way they look on the internet.

Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia interest is one, no crisis Al Sisi in Addis
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
I think the Egyptians went about it the wrong way. World Bank: The Egyptians used their status to prevent Ethiopia from getting any loans for any water works. The Ethiopians built Tekeze 300MW and Tana Beles source of Nile 430MW. When GERD came the Egyptians followed same track since they always won. But even victory has limits, you should know where and when to stop. Now at the 11th hour calling for World Bank is diengeneous at best and defeat at worst. Sudan: I know the politics of Brotherhood and chaos in Egypt coincided, if there is coincidence in politics, but Egypt went the wrong way. The Egyptians continued with Darfur and south Sudan which always worked, but not this time. In the process Egypt completely destroyed its relations in Sudan. Egypt finally asked to exclude Sudan and negotiate with Ethiopia. The Ethiopians said NO. Imagine Egypt wants Sudan out and Ethiopia wants Sudan in. Think about it. Technically: All three countries know that you build dams where it will get you highest return. GERD is 5 billion dollars will bring 6000MW. To build equivalent in 7 or 8 other places, requires about 28 billion dollars. Its that simple. What ever water comes to dam will be released. Ethiopia now provides on average 85 billion cubic meter by 3 rivers. GERD is on one river. Filling it is no big deal. Even Sudan has offered her share that is not being used now to be stored there. -
galbeedi, It is so shocking when a person like you gets so blinded by a dislike of this or that group or politicians and makes very basic fundamental mistake. Ethiopia is federation of nationalities, America is federation of states, Canada is federation of provinces. Since you live in Canada, let me give you simple example: Prince Edward Island, a province has 250K people. Ontario a province has 14 million peole. They both have same veto power. In America state of Wyoming or Maine has less than 1/2 million, but California or New York states have each more than 50 million peopel. Yet Maine and New York are equal 2 votes each in Senate. There has to be mechanism of Equality. It is only way the system works and you can have one country. Other aspects of your faulty logic next post
