What if Djibouti, DP World reconcile and support Berbera deal
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
That is always the problem with Amhara. They want just land and port no people. Amhara wanted to skip the will of the Somali and Afar and get into same problem as Eritrea. They may even have entertained the idea of taking Somalia. Sometimes they have ignorant ideas. Tigray in all fairness have a mantra they repeat "countries, nations empires come and go but the people are there". Ghelleh is also either good person or smart person or both, I have never heard wronging Somalis even when he did not support their objectives. He always sat and talked ONLF before taking any measures against them. He told them you cannot work or fight from here.- 21 replies

It was the Oromo themselves who were singing praises. Actually the accusation was that a site called Aigaforum (Tigray) had published very negative about him before the vote or SOE. Politics is dirty game as they say. The fact that an amhara or Tigray is in Oromo organization is in the Oromo constitution itself. He is resident of Oromia and he has right to elect and be elected in Oromia government. Illey has Oromo persons working in his government.

What if Djibouti, DP World reconcile and support Berbera deal
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
It is the same in Afghanistan, Pakistan..this road and belt is going to get a lot of people killed without the chinese losing a single soldier. Somaliland may nt be short term if Ghelleh is overpowered. Same happening in Ethiopia. Ghelleh may throw a monkey wrench and make confederation with Ethiopia same as Egypt and Syria had. The last time he had similar problem that is what he proposed.- 21 replies

You are as energized as Jawar your friend now by the looks of your post. I don't agree with the speed of his promotion issue. All other nationalities except Tigray do not follow the 4-5 year per step it takes. This was done to balance. It has reached now until colonels. Generals still is Tigray 40-50%. Its unlikely his mother being Tigre and Pente. Highly unlikely. Maybe traditional protestant but Pente is most unlikely in Tigray. Amahara and Oromo have a lot.

Welcome back. Hopefully you had pleasant trip. You need to think twice now I am waving Ghelleh flag. Which according to your post seems Tigray. BTW Meles wife was CEO of the corporation that owns some transport companies and other businesses. Its a public endowment fund. Not her or her family. She is out from last month.- 21 replies

Emails show UAE-linked effort against Tillerson
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
AIPAC is a long way it takes 50-70 years to do. Universities, medical fields, technology fields, law and lawyers.media...very long way for Bedewin. No chance for something like that. Here its pay as needed service. Use the empire and also use small empires. AIPAC is takeover the whole shindig/empire. -
Suldaanka, If it gets under your skin, sometimes that may be enough. Anything related to nationalism is never a loss for any government. Now SFG can say they tried, but do not want to go to war over this matter. If they were sincere, its the military aspect they should mention not the civilian aspect.

They have more than 180 retired and young retired ex CIA and MI6 in a airport camp of their own. How do you and I know that the Bedewin can not chew.. You can by any official in Britain or America and manufacture something on Pakistan, Ethiopia..etc -

Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Money has really got into the head of these Bedewin and the white man has become poor and corrupt. Everybody can buy war now. You buy a general and ask him to lob few missiles or create some incident and you can buy services of some to make it world issue. You can buy representatives at UN and pass terrorism or call for negotiations. This has been going on in US Ethiopia relations: There is a bill in Congress that dies and rises as warning stick. American ambassador also acting same as the one in Ukraine. -
What if Djibouti, DP World reconcile and support Berbera deal
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
Be it far from me to think that way. Of that you can rest assured. But Gheuelleh can come to conclusion to accomodate your national desire too. He has a lot of frastrations in Mogadishu. UAE is also more cemented in Mogadishu than many other places. He is a practical man. He will ask SFG "what can you do for me right now"? Forget pronounceents and facebooks what real action can you do right now for me, time is running out. His stand will depend on that. He knows DP will spend any money to just teach a lesson to all future Gheullehs.- 21 replies

Agreed. That is why I call these kind of persons briefcase lone man and family at the most party or group. Nothing official or even sub-sub-sub clan representation. Just few friends to make a buck, since one of them disappeared as soon as war between TFG and ICU started. There is literally hundreds of them among Ethiopians in DC mainly, but also in London and Bruxcelles. All kinds of names for every occasion, for any remotely can be called conference. The most fighting they do is take their pictures infront of state department. Now that has gone one step up. They have handshake and picture in street or restaurant with some US official, congressman etc.

What if Djibouti, DP World reconcile and support Berbera deal

I am sure Somaliland or Oodweyne will not act out of anger or spite. You can also demand your pound of flesh. (DP for the most part is the British company they bought some years back for 7 billion dollars). Its a win win for both of you.- 21 replies

What if Djibouti, DP World reconcile and support Berbera deal
Old_Observer replied to Old_Observer's topic in Politics
Never say never The disagreement is: Djibouti wanted to buy it back but at a lower price, so to do this Djibouti brought chinese and built other ports and Djibouti sent hint that DP world agreement will not be renewed. This should drive the price really low so even our Oodeweyne can afford to buy it. DP world knew and wanted to force Djibouti to buy it when the price is really high. That is the bottom line of the fighting and I am sure an English lawyer can find a way around this to tell DP cut your losses. Your losses in Djibouti will only go up.- 21 replies

Representatives of all regions, everyone warlords, Shieks, clan elders for a month in Kenya. If I am not mistaken there were "one man political party" or "brief case group" from Somaliland that participated. If they are strong and they defeat you then Somaliland was represented, but if they disappear to thin air and forget the whole shindig then Somaliland was not represented.

DO you know that is real possibility? Djibouti agrees to Berbera as long as Berbera does not take more than 20% of Ethiopia's business from Djibouti Somaliland agrees will not have free trade zone, and if Somaliland is so interested will have to give up to 50% share in this free trade zone to Djibouti corporation Somaliland agrees not to start her own shipping lines for next 10 years and instead take shares in both Ethiopian and Djibouti shipping lines UAE will not change its mind and develop port of Assab for commercial purposes UAE will not develop Bassaso for Ethiopian business, but only for Somalia I am not party or representative to any of the above entities, I am too small of a man, but some British law firm is working on such a deal which of course means all these corporations will be clients of this firm and related insurance companies next.

How did Burkina Faso came to your thought? Do you mind elaborating? The Federal constitution of Somalia is at a stage redy for debate and voting. Not yet full fledged approved constitution, but there is a working framework agreed in Kenya for second TFG and that is the framework the SFG operates based upon. Since that was agreed and approved by representatives, that is the one that is the constitution now in effect.

Prime Minister Hailermariam Desalegn Resigns
Old_Observer replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Now its on youtube, but half in Oromo but all important points in Amharic. He was just foaming on the mouth taling about Abiy. To be fair he was Lema fan even before the switching and he did not like the switching. It looks stupid to call emergency meeting for changing chairman of party and say nothing negative or positive reason for the switching except candidate for PM. Lema was worning not falling into trap of enemy/opponents and disappoint our people and destroy image of Oromo in front of all other people in Ethiopia. Partly that is what happened. You do not hear any other nationality speaking in support of Oromo, but everybody questioning their motive. That is bad when you are fighting uphill you need at least neutralize and not create dout this early. Almost all Amhara organizations are saying now, "don't overthrow weyannie, we are not ready yet to take power" in so many ways. That is bad for everybody including the government. Some Oromos are saying in the open "see we told you these are Habeshi they only fight who gets to rule". -
Italians are notorious for this. In both Somalia and Eritrea they had policy of providing entertainment for their soldiers. In Erirea it was declared as a decree and given to the local chiefs to bring so many women each from their districts. Most refused and that is when Island prison in the red sea was opened. Its called Nakura. Just like alkatras in USA. One time Eritreans escaped and went to Tigray, but since king menelik had agreement with italy the only help they got was from locals some fighters and few guns. In the agreement between italy and the Boqor there is an article specifically about this. The Boqor insisted that Italian soldiers will not come to its territory and all orders by Italy including tax will all be done by Somalis and sent to Mogadishu.

The criterion should always be does the said solution address current problems? If unitary government made a situation worst as the case in Ethiopia and Somalia, there is no way to bring government of angels to continue unitary government. Society needs a break and try self distributed power government. Next if the autonomous governments go too far and in different direction, putting at risk the common and also each other, then no matter how good these outonomous governments are , cannot solve the problem of going different direction. Only reducing their power and strengthening the unitary will solve. Look at Great Britain First ther were kingdoms fighting each other for unitary government Then the English won and run unitary government for almost 300 years Now they have come to autonomous governemnt and soon maybe back to kingdoms The history of the Somali people and all peoples is also the same. Past history is the most important factor whether we recognize it or not. Governments use past history, opposition uses past history one cannot escape. Somaliland experiment maybe better since it has better balance between history and modernity, but the results are not to be seen yet until next generation where the old ones that created are gone and people who were born and raised with it are in power.

You got it. The 5 Somalis I used as small survey did not know that every clan and even sub-clans of Somalis are present in Ethiopia. They only knew of one or two. That is it. Now Every Ethiopian province knows what a Somali generally looks like. Every university has 100 or more Somali.

Only one time for 3 days, not Djibouti port city, but up north on Afar side. I like him for one reason. He has open mind. See the way he resolved the schism that was developing with the Afar and some opportunist Somalis with encouragement of French. He is very flexible as well unlike other strong men in Africa. Very business like.
-
No. Not at all. I just did not like the cartoon he used for rep of an Ethiopian. His images on the head are pointing always to something..lets leave it at that. What I meant to say is there is all along the spectrum of Somali from Arab looking to Southern African looking... He always uses same, but now of course he has a stencil hard to change. BTW no indoctrination there is other methods used more effective. lol

In pro-government media this was reported as news when it happened. After that its only opposition that are raising gossip and inuendo. The best one is from Oromo. The Tigray are doing this to control all ports and in cooperation with sudan make regime change in Eritrea. Then Tigray will take the Afar, Somali, half Amhara kilils with them and leave. or control and dominate everybody which means Oromo forever. How people become so blinded when there is hate which creates fear of knowing the truth. It would be more reasonable to think the Tigray will kick us out rather than they will leave. The ignorance of it all is that the Somali and Tigray in Ethiopia are equal. Tigray are actually more respectful of Afar more than any other and would not even think such an idea.
