  1. lol abiti in Italia o sei andato a scola italiana? pero mi sembra che si dice nel nome del padre, il figlio a delo sprito santo..?
  2. That is a bit of an exaggeration. Remember Ethiopia is a poor country. How can it afford that kind of representatives, plus what are they going to do. 3 or 4 people are enough to take care of consular work for Ethiopians. Another 10 for business and 2-3 people for diplomatic work. Most Ethiopians are like at home anyway so not much work needed from their government. The Afar, Oromo, even Tigray and Amhara should not have language problem if they have been there 6 months or more. There is more than 60 thousand Somalis from the republic. In addition to Somalilanders and Ethiopian Somalis of course. There are students in almost all universities from Somaliland and Puntland. There are students from the displaced/refugees from the republic as well. FYI 6-7 Million Somalis in Somali Kilil.
  3. Israel must be pushing soething to do with Iran or at least Syria. John Bolton is a shoe in for both.
  4. If the cleaners are hired direct by the municipality could be Shabab If the cleaners are working for this contractor or that contractor could be mafia competition Very sad.
  5. Che, Here are some anecdotes that show you the interaction of Zeila (Capital was at Zeila, then moved to Dakkar and finally to Harer) and Abyssinia/Ethiopia. Population: By 1330, the Moroccan historian and traveler Ibn Batutta would describe the city as dominated by Muslims from the Zaidi Shi'ite denomination. Shi'ia influence can still be seen in various areas, as in the southern Somalia veneration of Fatimah, the Prophet Muhammad's daughter. Zeila's importance as a trading port is further confirmed by Al-Idrisi and Ibn Said, who describe it as a town of considerable size and a center of the local slave trade. Pankhurst, amongst other writers, thought Marco Polo was referring to Zeila (then the capital of Adal) when he recounts how the Sultan of Aden seized a bishop of Abyssinia traveling through his realm, attempted to convert the man by force, then had him circumcised according to Islamic practice. This action provoked the Abyssinian Emperor into raising an army and capturing the Sultan's capital. Through extensive trade with Abyssinia and Arabia, Adal attained its height of prosperity during the 14th century. It sold incense, myrrh, slaves, gold, silver and camels, among many other commodities. Zeila had by then started to grow into a huge multicultural metropolis, with Persian Gulf Arab, Somali, Afar, Oromo, and even Persian inhabitants. The city was also instrumental in bringing Islam to the Oromo and other Ethiopian ethnic groups. Rule: In 1332, the Zeila-based King of Adal was slain in a military campaign aimed at halting the Abyssinian Emperor Amda Seyon's march toward the city. When the last Sultan of Ifat, Sa'ad ad-Din II, was also killed by Dawit I of Ethiopia in Zeila in 1410, his children escaped to Yemen, before later returning in 1415. In the early 15th century, Adal's capital was moved further inland to the town of Dakkar, where Sabr ad-Din II, the eldest son of Sa'ad ad-Din II, established a new base after his return from Yemen. Adal's headquarters were again relocated the following century, this time to Harar. From this new capital, Adal organised an effective army led by Imam Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi (Ahmad "Gurey" or "Gran") that invaded the Abyssinian empire. This campaign is historically known as the Conquest of Abyssinia (Futuh al Habash). Italian Ludovico di Varthema, indicate that Zeila continued to be an important marketplace during the 16th century, despite being sacked by the Portuguese in 1517 and 1528. Later that century, separate raids by nomads from the interior eventually prompted the port's then ruler, Garad Lado, to enlist the services of 'Atlya ibn Muhammad to construct a sturdy wall around the city. Zeila, however, ultimately began to decline in importance following the short-lived conquest of Abyssinia. By the first half of the 19th century, Zeila was a shadow of its former self, having been reduced to "a large village surrounded by a low mud wall, with a population that varied according to the season from 1,000 to 3,000 people." The city continued to serve as the principal maritime outlet for Harar and beyond it in Shewa. However, the opening of a new sea route between Tadjoura and Shewa cut further into Zeila's historic position as the main regional port.
  6. If Turkey had joined EU they would have become very fast the China for Europe. They have fairly educated work force. All European car assembly would move to Turkey. That is one reason Germany was most aginst. It did not work out, now Turkey is moving east.
  7. Habeshi means mixed race. The state at last was called Abyssinia. Capital moved Axum, Lalibella and Gonder. Most Somalis think of Habeshi is minelik, haileslassie, mengistu but these are least Habeshi, they are Ethiopia. The centre of Habesha is divided now in Djibouti, Eritrea, Sudan and Ethiopia. Since Harer was always part of the system from Axum, that way can be called Habeshi. Its now more than 1000 years old. The Hareri language is Habeshi language.
  8. No Che, It was interrupted by Ottomans otherwise Harer always campaigned north whenever they get money or feel energized to expand. Harer never went towards Mogadishu, but always to North. Adal ruled Shiwa (epicenter of Amhara) for few hundred years with interruption. Then Ottoman held the sea shores and reached and stayed in Harer for some 13 years. The Tigray also in 1991 went straight t Harer before Addis or any place else in the South.
  9. When did Harer and Ceylac separate? The campaign started from Ceylac/Harer which had same rule at the time. Was mostly financed and armed by Turkey/Ottomans later.
  10. You folks have guts or going for broke. It takes a lot of courage to get into troublesome business. Its more trouble than what it is worth.
  11. I did not say Xabeshi (Afar, Tigray, Amhara, Agew, Tigre, Saho..territory was always together the rest goes and comes), but Ethiopian. Abyssinia is half of todays Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Eastern Sudan. Hareri and Adal used to rule until Shiwa Amhara for a long time.
  12. I think some of you seem surprised. After all if you think these peoples are so different, at least understand that they are neighbors. Before 1900 there was a lot of interaction. Do you know that at one time Ceylac was the only port for all of Habeshi when there was wars with Persians? One port in Eritrea which was really big port small town then was completely wiped out by Persians (Iran). Zeila is very famous among Habeshi. In this modern times of course there is even more interaction. There is Habeshi business people even in Bassaso.
  13. Its common speak by Ethiopians to say we are close, its my second home or something like that. They say I am at home here.
  14. Tigray has been in Hargaisa, Ceylac, and other places for centuries until 1900 and now since 1991 Somalis and Ethiopians even with all the fightings and quarels, have never been far from each other for good or bad. Ahmed Gurey was Ethiopian.(That is shocking for Somalis of the nothing to do with Habeshi. Zeila (Ceylac) was port for Harer (city state that becomes expanded and contracted depending on times). Sulatanate was either in Harer or Ceylac at different times. Hareri and Tigray have languages from the same root and close.
  15. That is a direction not good for anyone. Be it regions, countries the whole area. Wars should always be assessed with the questions what will it affect, what will be result of success, what will be result of failure. If the result of success is not different from result of failure not a single human life lost will be worth it.
  16. galbeedi, You are starting from the wrong premise that Ethiopia wanted Somalia splinter or Somaliland to separate. That is completely wrong. All policy and steps the Derg Mengistu regime followed was from king Haileslassie days which has been made open after 2000. Since Mengistu and late Barre were meeting all the time directly and through intermediaries the arrest of late A. Yusuf could have been a result of one of these meetings, since the reason "Ethiopian flag in Somalia territory" incident is not satisfactory for his arrest. Aidiid took everybody's place and became no.1 favourite for Derg, not SNM. And of course when regime changed in Ethiopia soon after SSDF became favoured by the new government. Listen to interview Gen. Morgan did in 2006 in Mogadishu after ICU was expelled and you will see why he called the new government in Ethiopia to help in the Bay area. He had contacted SSDF folks as well when his side was in trouble. What happened was SNM were aware that Ethiopia is only interested in weakening Somalia regime, but not separation. Gaddafi was like a child. If you think he would be SSDF prefering what did he do in 2006? Didn't Gadafi sponsor ICU, SC. Ithad...collection in Asmara? Barre had lost his leverage by Tigray becoming more powerful than Eritreans. But Ethiopia to this day does not have the intention or plan to push Somalia to disentegrate, its not in Ethiopia's interest and also not right thing to do. But Ethiopia also does not want bloodshed to keep Somaliland, that is for sure. Its not that you may or maynot have been there, its just I think always starting from one premise, very biased. Since your first intension is the splinter of Ethiopia, you always think Ethiopians also think that way. Maybe some Ethiopians, but never a policy or plan.
  17. My friend there is more to it. There is 100 billion up for grabs There is all that Gold up for grabs There was weapons up for grabs There was oil shippments that continued under changing hands of ISIS, Alqaeda, this city that city The 100 Billion is probably all expensed by western countries in accounting: 1. Expenses for meeting to plan for civilian protection of libian people 1 billion 2. Contractor for shipping of and security of civilians 2 billion etc...
  18. There is a person from Jigjiga that has been arrested, but not confirmed. This person is an activist to prevent the city taking land and also demolitioning homes. The compensation given is too little. That is to be supported. The rest is simply trying to join the Ethiopian opposition in case they win. The Ethiopian opposition has been dyding and praying day and night for something like this. QERO Shabab Somali kilil version. Look at things with some doubt, not every facebook page is genuine or grounded. On a lighter note: Sorry to disappoint you with the real news that the Oromo are as far away from the Palace as before. And if they get in, you will still be disappointed.
  19. Tallaabo, I understand that UAE's place and role at this time is necessary for Somaliland and also for Ethiopia (mainly Somali kilil) as well as if things work out for Somalia as well, but I wouldn't go on a limb for half a century. That is the time it took the British empire to go from start of decline, to complete collapse and be an American client state. It took the Soviets from decline to collapse about 20 years. What ever goes up must come down. The difference is coming back again like the Chinese are doing for 4th time and Persians for 3rd time, Ottomans working on 1st comeback. The British are done, just like Portugal, Spain, Dutch and soon French empires. The Russian empire is coming back.
  20. Update on Somali Oromo issues: Investigateion has so far revieled that the Somalis that were killed inside Oromo state was fault of Oromo Police. The Army gathered the Somalis whom the army thought was at risk and brought them to police station to be protected. When the Oromo mob came the Oromo police simply abondoned the Somalis. The Somali Regional government has prepared a security and social work plan of returning Oromos that were sent for their safety under protection of Somali kilil police. The plan has been given to the federal government and Oromo government. Very practical, humaine and thoughtful plan that is actionable. The case is in Federal and Oromo states to respond. Federal also has to finance the return arrangement. Until the political termoil is settled, I am not sure the Oromos are focused on this, since its part of the tools they use in politics. Jewar does not say anymore Somali kilil. He calls the kilil by the name ONLF calls it. I don't know what the tack is, but there was meeting called in Minnesota and titled the Oromo and the O ongoing border issues.
  21. All opposition without exception are so confused, become anxious and suspicious of each other. Everybody is suspecting somebody of making deals with the EPRDF. One of the opposition parties openly asked: "How can a country the size and prestige (empty prestige with starving people - mine) run without PM". They forgot the PM is still active until next PM is elected. Some have already accepted defeat and are thinking next cycle or next opportunity. Regions: Tigray, Afar, Amhara, Somali, Gambella, Benshangul Gumuz is all quiet and waiting. Oromia: lots of problems and particularly now competition between west Oromo mostly Protestant and Eastern mostly Muslims. The middle what can be termed as Amharized is still working in the stystem. South: Problem with one Ethnic, Gurage these are traders and business people scattered all over Ethiopia but home base is in South. Ginbot 7 is mainly Gurage. Hareri are watching carefully since they are sarounded by Oromo and not far from Somali, but no land connection. Is like city state. Addis and Dirdawa is all quiet.
  22. galbeedi, That is why they bring from conflicting countries. If they have half million Pakistani they bring half million Indians, if they take 100000 Somali they will get 100000 Yemeni or Xabeshi, if they have Sudanese generals they will have Egyptian intelligence. On top of that they have latest spywares and technologies. It seems is well thought out. Exactly and if they survive they will pay for rest of their life for protection and "liberation" money. Kwait is still paying for the "liberation" of 1992.
  23. Holac, That was something that could be seen from thousands of miles away. SFG spent too much time on the issue of port. The SFG should have registered opposition to the deal with Ethiopia. Even call the Ambassador or write a letter from PM to PM. File official papers with all international institutions and move on. Work on another big agenda. The longer you stay on this issue the easier for minister or MP to say the wrong thing or untimely thing. With the Bedewin everything is personal.
  24. Exactly why I posted. I am always against people that complain of being called names. Who demand retraction, who demand apology. who demand resignation of some official or another. I say so far its all facts on the ground. Not really.
  25. What does it mean governors or is meant to be commanders? Is the fight has to do strictly with the money or is just control of an area?
