  1. Ethiopia has a monastery in Jerusalem that was gifted by Sultan Salahadin, because the Abyssinians did not go for the crusades. Its called Monastery of Sultan, Debri Sultan (Tigray) Dier Sultan (Turkish). When the Ottomans were in charge of Jerusalem they had guards assigned and kept it safe with the Ethiopian monks that were there contineously through the about 400 years.
  2. Ducale, Most likely he is Brotherhood and not radical or Wahabbi as the Eritreans are accusing him of being unless he has changed lately with some Saudi injection. Eritrea is 47% Moslem 37% Orthodox Christian and the rest all kinds of Christian and some animist. Even Pentecostals have made some strides unlike the Tigray and Afar in Ethiopia. The dictator in Eritrea only inside the country tries to keep Christians by spectre of Radiacl Islamists. He has taken some measures against schools and denying the Jeberti to organize even social gatherings of their own. The Jeberti are native to Tigray Ethiopia and moved some of them in business starting some 300 years ago to the part of Tigray that is now Eritrea. In Ethiopia, It is only the Oromo that have this explosive problem. It comes from too much Pentecostals about 10 million. A bit in south as well. The Internet activists have now already separated and attacking each other between Moslem East and Protestant west. The rest are all orthodox Moslem, Orthodox Christian. Saying orthodox Moslem may not be common, but it only means original and the truth. Since Islam was accepted in Tigray before Saudi Arabia they have so far kept same way no branching, modifying, adapting cults like Wahabbi etc. And since Orthodox Christian and Islam are very close, not that many problems.
  3. Something will happen to Eritrea very soon, unless he makes 180 degree change of direction. Internally he is in trouble with Jeberti (who in a twisted way are called Tigrayans (Ethiopian) which they are origined but have been in Eritrea for long time. Externally has no friends from immediate neighbors except Saudi Arabia. The good thing is safety and security of Djibouti is now better by many degrees.
  4. You sow what you seed. Karma for the people of Yemen. Why do you allow Egypt, UAE and Saudi to operate from your territory for Yemen war? Somalia could have done with the money, but there is principles. You did not have human principles. You also wanted to overthrow Al Bashir, now you will be overthrown. Let alone you even your Patron Gaddafi was overthrown with a lot of Sudanese input, for trying to humiliate Sudan with South Sudan.
  5. Eritrea accuses Sudan, Qatar of deploying fighter planes on border By Al Arabiya English March 26, 2018 The Eritrean government released a statement accusing Qatar of sending Sudan three fighter planes to thwart a purported attack from Eritrea, and of secretly funding an Eritrean Islamist opposition office in an isolated area in Sudan. In the statement, the Eritrean government said that Qatar is funding supporters of the radical Islamist cleric, Mohammed Jumma, who opened an office in an unknown area in Sudan. “Followers of the radical Islamic Cleric, Mohammed Jumma, opened an office, under extreme secrecy, in a secluded area to organize political and military activities as well as to train their members. Funding of their activities is provided by the Embassy of Qatar in Khartoum. Training and other logistical functions are managed by the Sudanese Security and Intelligence Service,” the statement read. They added that Qatar sent three Mig fighter planes to the Sudanese Defense forces which were deployed in Kassala on Eritrea’s border with Sudan. The pilots for the three Mig fighter planes were two Qataris and an Ethiopian. The Eritrean government said the deployment was done under the pretense of “thwarting an attack from Eritrea that would be unleashed with the support of the United Arab Emirates.” They also mentioned that a delegation from the Qatari military, led by the ambassador of Qatar in Khartoum, visited the “Joint Sudanese-Ethiopian Defense Unit” in March to inspect its operations and gauge the security situation in the Kassala area, while asking “Why does Qatar involve itself in such senseless intricacies?” The statement by Eritrea’s Ministry of Information also called recent news spread by Qatar news outlets of the deployment of Egyptian troops in Sawa, Eritrea fabricated, adding that this triggered the subsequent closure of the Sudanese border with Eritrea.
  6. Illey is driving galbeedi mad. Now galbeedi has reached the level of extreme hate and all his stance is driven by it. Pretty soon if galbeedi continues in this direction he will renounce being Somali and come out as Ethiopian Oromo. ONLF of course would not even greet galbeedi. ONLF would have a hard time working with Oromo, a lot more conflict than Illey has with Oromo.
  7. Social media activists in Israel and Saudi Arabia have been criticizing the weak performance of their armies' air defense systems since Sunday night, saying that Riyadh and Tel Aviv have been lying when they were bragging about their air defense power. The Iron Dome missile defense system in Israel was apparently mistakenly activated by automatic gunfire within Gaza on Sunday, sending an unnecessary barrage of interceptors into the skies, the army said. Also, one video appeared to show a Saudi Patriot missile launch on Sunday night go rapidly wrong, with the missile changing course midair, crashing into a neighborhood in Riyadh and exploding. Another appeared to detonate shortly after being launched in the Saudi capital. The two were fired to intercept the Yemeni army missiles. Following the incidents, the Israeli social media activists blasted the weak performance of the air defense system called by Tel Aviv as Iron Dome, asking how the multi-million-dollar defense shield has failed to recognize beams of Hamas artillery drills in Gaza from a real rocket attack and sent Israeli people to shelters. An activist tweeted Sunday was a bad day for the technology of the western defense systems. 2 Saudi Patriot missiles failed to hit the target and the Iron Dome failed to say the difference between missile and beams. Meantime, Global Observer news website described the incidents as big failure for Saudi Arabia and Israel, noting that the Iron Dome fired several missiles worth of $50,000 in reaction to the light of artillery fire in Hamas drills and the Saudi Patriot defense shield targeted Riyadh instead of the Yemeni missiles. Sunday night's launch saw one Egyptian killed and two others wounded in Riyadh by a missile fragment, marking the first casualties in the Saudi capital since the war against Yemen began. Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen since March 2015 to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 15,700 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children. Despite Riyadh's claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures. According to several reports, the Saudi-led air campaign against Yemen has driven the impoverished country towards humanitarian disaster, as Saudi Arabia's deadly campaign prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country. Yemen is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis with more than 22 million people in need and is seeing a spike in needs, fueled by ongoing conflict, a collapsing economy and diminished social services and livelihoods. A UN panel has compiled a detailed report of civilian casualties caused by the Saudi military and its allies during their war against Yemen, saying the Riyadh-led coalition has used precision-guided munitions in its raids on civilian targets.
  8. Yemenis destroy Saudi-led missile system in Ta'izz with ballistic missile: Report Sat Feb 10, 2018 09:44:52 The Yemeni army, supported by allied fighters from the Houthi Ansarullah movement, has managed to successfully destroy a missile system run by Saudi Arabia’s mercenary forces in Yemen’s southwestern province of Ta'izz, a report says. Press TV-- Brigadier Aziz Rashed, the deputy spokesman for the Houthi-allied army, told Yemen's Arabic-language al-Masirah television network that the Friday attack completely destroyed the American-made MIM-104F (PAC-3) missile system installed near the port city of Mokha. He further said that the missile launched by Yemeni forces hit the target with high precision and totally destroyed the advanced air shield. He added that the attack had paved the way for a larger operation to clean Yemen’s western coast of the presence of the Saudi-led forces. There was no immediate comment from Saudi officials on the missile attack. On February 1, al-Masirah reported that Yemeni forces army forces, backed by Popular Committees, had launched a locally-designed Qaher M-2 ballistic missile against the Om al-Rish military base, run by the Saudi-led military coalition, in Yemen’s central province of Ma’rib. Yemeni forces’ missile attacks are part of a national retaliation campaign against the Saudi aggression. Since March 2015, the Saudi regime, together with a coalition of its allies, has been heavily bombarding Yemen as part of a brutal campaign against its impoverished southern neighbor. It has been attempting unsuccessfully to reinstall Yemen’s former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh. The Saudi campaign has killed at least 13,600 people since its onset. Furthermore, much of the country’s infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and factories, has been reduced to rubble in the Saudi war. Famine and outbreaks of cholera and diphtheria are other results of the Saudi-led war. Besides defending Yemen against the Saudi aggression, Ansarullah has also been running state affairs in the capital, Sana’a, in the absence of an effective administration.
  9. Egyptian Killed by Malfunctioning Saudi Missile Defense Shield Strike An Egyptian man working in a Saudi prince palace was killed after a missile fired by the Saudi army's air defense system to intercept an incoming Yemeni army missile went astray and struck residential areas in the Saudi capital on Sunday night. Spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen war Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that the Yemeni missile had targeted King Khalid International Airport, 35km away from Riyadh. The Saudi air defense units which should have traced and intercepted the missile hundreds of kilometers away after it entered the country's airspace picked up the enemy missile on radar screens only after it flew over Riyadh to hit the airport. The Saudi officials claimed last night that the country's missile system has intercepted all the seven missiles fired by the army but online videos raised questions about those claims. Video footages that have gone viral revealed that the missiles fired by Saudi Arabia's Patriot air defense systems malfunctioned and veered off the specified course to make a U-turn and come back to hit the residential areas in the Saudi capital. The incident killed Egyptian Abdolmotaleb Ahmed Hussein Ali and wounded a number of other civilians. Another appears to detonate shortly after being launched in the Saudi capital. Saudi Arabia's Information Ministry did not respond to requests for comment Monday. However, the videos appear to show the kingdom being yet another country overstating the capability of the missile defense system, a tradition dating back to the 1991 Persian Gulf War. The Saudi military said it intercepted seven ballistic missiles fired by the Yemeni army at the kingdom, three of them targeting Riyadh, two targeting Jazan and one apiece targeting Najran and Khamis Mushait. The Saudi-owned satellite news channel Al Arabiya aired footage that it said showed Patriot missile batteries firing at the incoming Yemeni missiles in Riyadh. One Patriot missile appears to explode seconds after being launched, drawing a shout from a bystander as flaming fragments rain down on the ground. The Saudi military did not acknowledge the apparent missile malfunctions. Saudi Col. Turki al-Maliki only claimed in a statement that "all seven ballistic missiles were intercepted and destroyed." The Yemenis dismissed the Saudi claims saying that the missiles hit their targets.
  10. The insidiously now mandatory autocomplete function used by companies like Google and Facebook are deliberately designed and controlled to NOT give you the information you’re seeking, but instead show you what your “overlords” want you to know. Aided now by the new Orwellian Cloud Act law, this report notes, Social Sentinel is now prepared to unleash is massive AI database of “violent indicators” against the entire world—with the first targets being the billions of unsuspecting Facebook users who will be labeled, categorized and located as “dissidents” to “state authority”—and whose warnings of are now being voiced by even some of America’s top technology experts—such as Google’s AI “mastermind” François Chollet, who has just warned that “the problem with Facebook is not just the loss of your privacy and the fact that it can be used as a totalitarian panopticon…its more worrying issue is its use of digital information consumption as a psychological control vector”—and who, also, begs to the entire world: “If you work in AI, please don't help them. Don't play their game. Don't participate in their research ecosystem. Please show some conscience.” Though Social Sentinel innocuously claims that its mass surveillance of high school students is only “to detect signs of violent behavior”, this report warns, its secret AI controlled library of over 450,000 “violent indicators” shows its true evil purpose—as some of these “violent indicators” are those who support President Trump, those who support the Second Amendment, those who oppose abortion, those who don’t believe in climate change, those opposing homosexuality, those who read alternative media instead of the mainstream news—and thousands more examples like this—that liberal communists in America all say point to high school students being “at risk” of committing violence. To how Social Sentinel was able to acquire its massive AI database of “violent indicators” to target for destruction what are, in essence, normal conservative, and mostly Christian, high school students, this report continues, is through the global Orwellian mass surveillance and control system called Facebook—whose over 2.2 billion users worldwide have no idea whatsoever that this vile tech company’s privacy policy “is a big lie”, and who literally knows everything about them. According to this report, in the dead of night, on 7 February, “Deep State” aligned US Republican Party Senators Orrin Hatch and Lindsey Graham, along with US Democratic Party Senators Chris Coons and Sheldon Whitehouse, decided to put forth in the US Congress this Orwellian new law called the Cloud Act—and without “even one minute devoted to considering any amendments to this new law”, they worked behind the scenes to sneak it into the gargantuan Omnibus spending bill—and whose success at doing so was evidenced on Friday, 23 March, when President Trump signed it into force. Described by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) as both “sinister” and “dangerous”, this report details, this new Orwellian Cloud Act is the greatest assault on global freedom ever witnessed in history—as it now allows the American shadow government “Deep State” to access the contents of a wire or electronic communication and any record or other information about a person regardless of where they live or where that information is located on the globe—and even more insidiously, allows the US to enter into “executive agreements” with foreign governments that would allow each government to acquire users’ data stored in the other country, without following each other’s privacy laws.
  11. Food production and food self sufficiency is probably the single most important thing in Ethiopia and very important for the Somali. I don't know if its important for the Oromo, you would know They were 12 that got arrested. According interview given to VOA from the police station by 2 of those arrested is they were having meeting with big old Ethiopian Amhara opposition flag. That is one question they asked and one of them spoke abusevely and threatened the police officer. From the horses mouth. fake news. Where did you get it from Oromo Media Network? What Illey arrested was a community activist who is asking why the compensation given to homes being demolished in Jijga is very little. Almost all Somalis in the kilil are asking the government to give reason why he was arrested.
  12. Great news for food self sufficiency in Ethiopia. Unfortunately the Somali and Afar kilils are not there yet. Grain output situation improves in Ethiopia March 26, 2018 - by Eric Schroeder Search for similar articles by keyword: [Corn], [Wheat], [USDA report] Corn production in Ethiopia is estimated at 7 million tonnes in 2017-18. WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — Better-than-expected weather coupled with only minor losses from Fall Army Worm buoyed grain production in Ethiopia during the 2017-18 marketing year, according to a March 9 Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) report from the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. “Production of all major grains increased in MY17-18 due to favorable weather conditions, particularly timely and adequate rainfall in the western and central highlands of the country where most of the grain is grown,” the USDA said in the report. “In contrast, rains in the lowlands, especially in the eastern half and southeastern parts of the country were insufficient, resulting in lower-than-expected production in these areas. Meantime, (Fall Army Worm) related crop losses were relatively minor throughout the country.” Wheat production in Ethiopia is estimated at 4.2 million tonnes in 2017-18, up from 3.9 million tonnes in 2016-17. The USDA said wheat output in Ethiopia has increased steadily in recent years and is up more than 50% since the 2008-09 marketing year. Most of the growth is attributed to better yields resulting from expanded access to improved seed, mechanization, minimal pest and disease pressure, as well as the opening of commercial farms, the USDA noted in the report. Looking ahead to 2018-19, the USDA has forecast wheat production to hold steady at 4.2 million tonnes, with yield and harvest also forecast unchanged at 2.6 tonnes per hectare and 1.6 million hectares, respectively. Consumption of wheat in Ethiopia is estimated at 5.95 million tonnes in 2017-18, up from 5.697 million tonnes in 2016-17. The forecast for 2018-19 calls for a slight uptick in consumption, to 6.050 million tonnes, the USDA said. Citing a survey conducted by the Central Statistical Agency (CSA), the USDA said 60% of wheat production in Ethiopia is consumed by the producing farm household, 20% is sold to the market, and the balance is used for seed, in-kind wages, animal feed, and other minor uses. Wheat imports in 2017-18 are estimated at 1.8 million tonnes, up from 1.5 million tonnes in 2016-17. The USDA said imports are forecast to fall back to 1.7 million tonnes in 2018-19 due in part to the government pulling back on imports because it recently replenished government-held reserves. Corn production in Ethiopia is estimated at 7 million tonnes in 2017-18, up from 6.5 million tonnes in 2016-17. “This increase is primarily attributed to favorable weather conditions and, to a lesser extent, the ongoing rollout of improved seed and fertilizer,” the USDA noted in the report. “At the same time, the impact of FAW on overall corn production was relatively minor because of various government and development partner-supported interventions, including manual removal, pesticide application, and other measures. In addition, the longer-than-expected rainy season (Meher) was also said to have suppressed the spread of the pest due to the cooler temperatures. “In the coming years, corn production is expected to continue its upward trend as more farmers start using improved seed, fertilizer, and other inputs. The Ethiopian government, development partners, and private sector are continuing to devote resources aimed at increasing corn production since it’s an important food security crop as well as an increasingly important ingredient for livestock feed.” Looking ahead to 2018-19, the USDA has forecast corn production to increase to 7.1 million tonnes. Consumption of corn in Ethiopia is estimated at 6.872 million tonnes in 2017-18, up from 6.644 million tonnes in 2016-17. The forecast for 2018-19 calls for an increase in consumption, to 7.025 million tonnes, the USDA said. The increase in consumption is expected to be absorbed by consumers, but also an increasing amount going toward livestock feed, the agency noted. Related Articles Ethiopia eyes more milling wheat
  13. They are better than some of the other Gulf Bedewin, more economical and thoughtful. That is why they were able to survive total blockade. There is 8 classes like that and desks and I am sure are paying the headmaster and teachers as well. 1 million can only go so far these days, and some local chiefs may have got something for helping and also security guarantees.
  14. Everyone sees through own glasses, but yours is lighter side. Great.
  15. Too many demands and some unreasonable. Wanted PM, wanted their language to be all Ethiopian language by decree etc.. Today one of their prominent internet facebook/youtube personality said the following and really created a storm: There was 4.9 rector scale earth quake around Dallol Afar depression. The QERO (Sahabab) internet activist said that this is punishment from Allah (swt). Oromo prayers being answered on Tigray. It was really bad for the Oromo activists, but the rest of the people thought it shows how weak minded the Oromo are. The people are OK except for the temporary panic. People who live in the area are Afar but since its much closer to Tigray region, Its the Tigray that got there first and the stupid Oromo did not even stop to think about it.
  16. Suldaanka, This school is near border to Ethiopia, but not Ethiopian. http://www.gulf-times.com/story/586533/Model-school-opened-in-Somalia
  17. To my knowledge, from what I understand what I read: USC was a cobbled up in a hurry afraid that SSDF and SNM will replace late Barre regime. The Ethiopians first contact with those leaders for USC shows this: Ethiopians hated SSDF and were suspicious and not preferring of SNM. Barre end came as maakhiri pointed out the war of 1977/78. There were a lot of military men that thought the war should have been done under kilil people and by kilil people, not the republic and when lose came was catastrophic. Economy is gone, no deep pocket supporter, people from euphorea of victory down to invasion of ones country. Empires or countries all of them major war is beginning of bankruptsy if you do not win for sure, and even if you win like Britain 2nd world war you can still loose.
  18. Something fishy going on between Turkey and Iran. That is what is driving America mad. Both Persians and Turks killed Roman empires. Could history be repeating? Or Turkey is preparing to again benefit from the coming sanctions on Iran?
  19. Latest prognostication for PM and deputy from Ethiopia is: PM - Demeqe Mekonen Hussien (Amhara region- ANDM chairman) Deputy PM - Shiferaw Shigute Adalaw (SNNP -chairman same party as Hailemariam Desalegn) This is just speculation based on: Tigray not competing. Oromo not so enthusiastic on Abiy Ahmed. 12 people have been arrested including 3 that were recently released. Something fishy. From the police station they gave interview to VOA and they said that they were meeting in secret and had the old Amhara big flag. Yet he is explaining this from the police station to VOA.
  20. Suldaanka, You are taking this to the nth degree aren't you? For what its worth even fake news is news. And the irridentists have the opposite. Hargiesa is more Amhara than Addis Ababa. lol Ethiopia should not be an excuse for evrything under the sun. The first investigation should be oneself, before looking for foreigners. This is fake news. Somalia is a territory borders made by Europeans, so is Ethiopia, so is every country in Africa. There is no reason why if some in Somalia are more friendly with Ethiopians to loose their citizenship and identity on fake news.
  21. galbeedi, Regarding hotel businessmen. Its better to get both sides. The kilil is open for business and a lot of investors have shown interest. You ned to realize that people use licences to import things tax free and then do not start bsiness the time they promised. Then the benefits they took should be taken away. Some people are given land to develop it, but keep it until price appreciates without doing what they promised they will do with the land. Then comlain when land is taken back. Would you do any diffeent if you, galbeedi, was the government? Regarding oil business, it will be wars, conflicts, terrorism etc. I have yet to see a country that has peace and oil unless is either 100% american or the country can extract the oil on its own technology. We have none. Nigeria is best example. Should have been best country to live in Africa by now. To extract oil here are my conditions: At the very least 50% of the engineering and logistics work should be done by locals. Except for heaviest of equipment riggging nothing else should be coming from outside. This applies whether its your Oromo or locals Somali. If the role of government is just to be security guard for foreigners, that is not acceptable. Look how much life was lost in Somalia for oil that is still in the ground never extracted. You do not want that to happen to anyone.
  22. He has opened the kilil for business, and you are welcome to share with him. One catch you also have to share the risk that comes with oil business. Its the same everywhere. As soon as the chinese started some activities and major projects in Puntland who do you think showed up. ISIS/ALqaeda and all its local or international versions and names.
  23. I don't know why some countries go this direction. Here is what was found in Ukraine who "wanted" to build wall on its border with Russia. A few friends with the American appointed PM were in a restaurant. Someone brought this idea of a wall. It was then and there agreed to whom to give contract. Then next day in Ukraine raised it in parliament, every news paper and web site brought it out, the work started. As soon as it was pushed out of the news, so did the construction. Now a few people are accused of making a killing from it and is a corruption issue 3 years after the money is gone, but no wall. Few kilometers of 2 meter high barbed wire is all to show for the money. I am sure somebody is making a killing with this kenya wall as well. The end will also be the same. Pretty soon the locals will take it apart and use it for home construction.
  24. There was 4.9 RS earthquake in Afar region near border of Eritrea Yesterday. The lowest point is at junction of Afar, Eritrea and Tigray which is 100meters below see level.
  25. There is a formulae. Its similar and I believe was copied from that of Canada. It will benefit the kilil tremendeously even if you consider just the side infrastractural. My main concern is where ever there is oil business it comes with a lot other problems. Here is what PM Meles said about oil.
