Salaamz, From Abu Hurairah from the prophet (salallahu caliyhe wasilm): The Believer is Simple, Generous (noble in character)and the sinner is Cunning, Cowarldy) NGONGE's quotes There are countless pre-Islamic poems and verses written on the subject of bad habits, mostly disparaging such habits and vilifying their holders. Dishonesty, impertinence, anger, haste, fraudulence, tediousness and a dozen other vile habits are mocked and ridiculed. The old non-believers despised them; the sporadically learned Muslims embrace them! How could one get over such bad habits? Would prayers help? Would choosing good friends do it? How about completely adhering to a faith and following its tenants to the letter, would that do it? Perhaps threats are the best way of stopping the spread of bad habits! Could the perpetual threats of hell and eternal damnation do it? Maybe there is no such thing as bad habits and it’s all relative! Do you have bad habits? What is your worst habit? PLEASE WATCH THE TONE OF THE AUTHOR AND THE UNDERLYING THEME BEHIND THE POST Dishonesty, impertinence, anger, haste, fraudulence, tediousness and a dozen other vile habits are mocked and ridiculed. Salams, In Quraan Surah Furqaan Allah (s.w.t- The Exalted) says: "They walk on earth in humility and when the ignorant ones address them, they say: Salaam." A case of two women was came to the attention explained of The Holy Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). One woman while engaging in abundant Salaat (Daily Prayers), Saum (Fasting) and Thikr (Remembrance of Allah) was in the habit of causing difficulty and inconvenience to her neighbours. The other woman, although not engaging in an abundance of Salaat (Daily Prayers) and Saum, refrained from harming her neighbours. The Holy Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) described the first woman as an inmate of Jahannam(Hell) and the second woman as an inmate of Jannat (Paradise). A few questions to ask those who have responded 1. How you see yourself in any situation, affects your response;reaction, towards it. So, how do you see yourself first and foremost a)Muslim b)Gender (Male/Women) -Meaning do you see yourself as a women before you see yourself as a Muslim etc.? Do you have a sense of 'family responsibilty'? i.e. If you go and get someone pregnant or get pregnant, wouldn't you be afraid of how your ACTION would effect the IMAGE of your Family? If Yes, then how come you seperate your actions as a 'MUSLIMM' , from the DEENN . I mean when someone qarxiis duulkaa baanada indiscriminately, don't you look at yourself as a 'MUSLIM' and try to seperate their ACTIONSS from yourself. Why? Isn't it b/c they are representing YOU-the MUSLIMM (to the outside world, you are MUSLIM first, then women/man, somali/west indian etc. Fi Amanillah

Salaamz, I have indicated that because she was wearing a Hijab and the SIGN OF ISLAM was all over her...to be the point of contention and not because she is a Female. If I saw a Muslim brother wearing 'identifiable' muslim clothing and a muslim cap, with a beard.....smoking or hitting on girls or with alcohol....i would similiar comments!!! When you are a SYMBOL of the Deen and you are doing something contrary to the ISLAMIC TRADITION, then there is a Problem!

Salaams, This afternoon I saw something that got me disgusted, sickened to my stomach and feeling that my deen was being put to SHAME!!! Picture this On a very pleasant and sunny, mild july afternoon, you are minding your business, enjoying the weather. Amidst the downtown rush, you come across a walkway and Stop at the Red Light! You are gazing about, admiring the beauty of the day....when suddenly an image of islammmm appears 12'oclock...MashaAllahhhh A Muslimah wearing a Muslimah version of a suit (skirt and jacket with Hijab) standing...enjoying the afternoon...enjoying the shade.................andddd.... enjoying....a SMOKE, a Cigarette!!! SUBHANALLAH:eek:   and...to top it all off, a few feet away from her was a male figure, possibly her husband/brother etc....trying to distance themselves from...from...her SMOKE break! Abu Sa"id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) had said: "Whoeverrrr amongssst you sees anything objectionable, let him change it with his hand, if he is not able, then with his tongue, and if he is not even aablee to do so, then with his heart, and the latter is the weakest form of faith. Abdullah bin Mas’ud who narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "NNNever before meee had a Prophet been sent by Allah to his nation who had not among his people disciples and companions who followed his ways and obeyed his command. Then there came after them their successors who said whatever they did not practice, and practised whatever they were not commanded to do. He who strove against them with his hand was a believer; he who strove against them with his tongue was a believer; and he who strove against them with his heart was a believer; and beyond that there is no faith, not even as minute as a mustard seed."[ Fi Amanillah

Salamss Originally posted by Rahima: If Muslims want to own property in the west, they will have to find other means then jeopardising their religion by falling victim to Riba. There are ways around this, Allah has made this religion easy, it’s just sad that we make it difficult for ourselves. All it takes is for the wealthy Muslims to establish a loans institution which adheres to the Islamic regulations of borrowing (the rental system). If this is not available to any of us, then we must make a choice, our religion or owning property (which is just a worldly gain after all)! As others have stated, if you can’t afford a house in your adopted country then perhaps Africa is an option worth looking at-beautiful house for a cheap price and no longer will you be held hostage by rent. We have many options; taking Riba really has no excuse. Deep down inside we all know it, but it seems that many of the Muslims who have taken these riba-based loans are trying to deceive and perhaps convince themselves more than others. Ya Ukhti, I think that some of the nomads are being a little naive to the Realities of this Dunya and the Modern age wherein muslims have formed Immirgant communities in Western Countries. Maybe some of us should actually go to the local masjids and find out how they were built (financially), go the Muslim store owners and find out how they got funds to start their business and interview those muslims who have received and continue to receive 'Halal Mortgages' and have them share their experiences (Positive and Negative). Fi Amanillah

Salams, This might be of an interesting read to some though I doubt most will Comprehend. Walahu yaclim!

Salaams, 1)How are Masjids bought because people don't raise millions All at once and Banks/Creditors unless you pay them ALL AT ONCE, usually charge Interest on outstanding Principal? 2)How do Muslims buy Businesses when a business might cost a minimum of $100,000? (Most souls won't loan you $100,000 and its a struggle and half trying to save $20 from one paycheque let alone $100,000) 3) If you have Bad Credit, you really can't RENT in most cases or get these 'HALAL MORTGAGES' that have Ridicilous Requirements. So What is the alternative for people with BAD CREDIT and MASSIVE STUDENT LOANS? Fi Amanillah

Salams, Just watched a documentary on EBAY and subhanAllah it left me bewildered and how people can become Unprincipled, non-Godfearing, jahils etc. when the DUNYA is presented to them in the form of WEALTH-MONEY. Some of the items that have been sold on EBAY in that Documentary INCLUDE: BREAST MILK  VIRGINTY  FAMILIES and the list goes on.... I was just thinking to myself because I have never used EBAY before, what it would be like to use EBAY. Have any NOMADS used EBAY before? Please share your experiences. Thanks Fi Amanillah

Salaams, Picking out an SOL memeber from the rest of the crowd and trying to sugarcoat things under the guise of 'DISCUSSION' is not right and you are not showing proper ADAB for if the Niyah is for ALLAH (for sharing what LITTLE ILM/KNOWLEDGE that you might have) and to inshallah to increase in Being>Understanding as a result of TAQWA, then your METHODOLOGY is VERY QUESTIONABLE and a little SELF-BOASTING! THIS IS AN OBSERVATION and WALLAHU YACALAM! ALLAH gives the HIDAYAH and HIKMAH/UNDERSTANDING and no amount of RHETORIC,INDEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE ARABIC LANGUAGE, Books, OR SELF-SERVING DEBATES-SOPHISTERY can do that! Fi Amanillah

Salaamz I was born to a very religious Somali family in a small village in western Somalia. I am a Somali. ...My father trained Muslim religious teachers for the propagation of Islam So he's born in a muslim family, thus a muslim-right? After three years of studying the Bible, the Lord found me in 1986. The Holy Spirit was certainly working in me since 1983 but I continuously resisted his conviction until 1986. and Nur's statement of the ruling from the what the Ulama say 4. A natural Muslim who became apostate: His ruling is similar to that of those Abu Bakar waged war of apostates ( Xuruubul Ridda). Welcome to Somaliaonline islam pages, we appreciate your contribution and reading about your life experience and conversion to Christianity. Nur, please explain this to me and how it is in agreement with what you wrote earlier on in this thread about the 'SUBJECT MATTER' How does someone 'appreciate' Apostacy, especially in a public forum??? Fi Amanillah

Salaamz, Here is a quote from an article by Ibrahim B. Syed, Ph. D. from his website. Title of the artile is 'Is Hijab Complustory?' To wear the Hijaab is certainly NOT an Islamic obligatory on women.   It is an innovation (Bid'ah) of men suffering from a piety complex who are so weak spiritually that they just cannot trust themselves! If the Dr. Ibrahim Syed, the Author makes such a conclusion that is against the Islamic TRADITION and goes against the quran and sunnah, then his article about 'Apostasty in Islam' ain't worth a Rebuttal at ALL!!! Salaamz, In order to do the 'Camel Math' more information is required 1) What time period are we talking> 2005 A.D. or 1800 A.D. etc.? 2) There are international borders and you will have to through the laaand of Yahuud to get there which you can forget about camel or no camel. So do we get clearance from ALL THE Countries on the travelling route by land or sea? 3) Can you put the camel in a ship? If by ship from Alexandria to Tartus port in Syriaa is a possibility? 4. The distance between Cairo and Damascus is 1000 miles. Your mission is to move a 10,000 kilograms load of grass from Cairo to Damascus using your camel , but you have two problems: Underdog, you did not say 'only using your camel' but rather 'using your camel' which could mean that other 'travel accomodations' can be provided for the camel-Right? Underdog, your assistance would be appreciated Fi Amanillah

Pictures from the March 18th Jummah By Ahmed Nassef While most North American Muslim organizations remain either silent or come up with bizarre arguments against it, Mufti Sheikh Ali Gum'a, Egypt's top Islamic authority, has declared that woman-led prayer of mixed-gender congregations is permissible, so long as the congregation agrees to it. According to a report by Arab satellite news channel Al-Arabiyya, Sheikh Gum'a declared in an interview on Egyptian television that there is no consensus among religious scholars on the issue of female imamat of mixed gender congregations, pointing out that respected scholars like Imam Tabari and Imam Ibn Arabi found the practice permissible. "The Mufti added that, in such issues where there are disagreements, then the situation rests with the specific people concerned. If [the congregation] accepts a woman as imam, then that's their business, and there is nothing wrong with that since that is what they are accustomed to," Al-Arabiyya reported.

Woman leads US Muslims to prayer The congregation was evenly split between men and women A professor in the US is thought to have become one of the first Muslim women to lead mixed Friday prayers. More than 100 men and women attended the service and sermon given by Amina Wadud, professor of Islamic studies at Virginia Commonwealth University. The location was moved to an Anglican Church building in New York after mosques refused to host the event. The service has been criticised by a number of Muslim leaders, who say it goes against Islamic doctrine. It's not proper for [men] to look at the woman whose body is in front of them Sayed Tantawi sheik of Cairo's Al-Azhar mosque "The issue of gender equality is a very important one in Islam, and Muslims have unfortunately used highly restrictive interpretations of history to move backward," Ms Wadud said before the service started. "With this prayer service we are moving forward. This single act is symbolic of the possibilities within Islam." Those who attended were said to be evenly divided between men and women. Most women wore the traditional Muslim headscarf and robes. Some 15 protesters gathered outside the Synod House of the Cathedral of St John the Divine, where the prayers took place. One carried a placard calling for Allah's curse to be upon one of the event's organisers. "She is tarnishing the whole Islamic faith. If this was an Islamic state, this woman would be hanged," one man, Nussrah, told the Associated Press. The BBC Middle East correspondent says the controversy has meant Ms Wadud is getting prominent coverage on Arabic television networks. 'Second class' The service was organised by a group of activists, journalists and scholars who hoped to encourage discussion about the centuries-old tradition of separating men and women during congregational prayer, and reserving the role of prayer leader, or imam, for men. One organiser, Asra Q Nomani, said they would challenge the "second-class" status of women in Muslim spiritual life. Mosques reportedly refused to host Amina Wadud "We are taking actions that no-one else would have dared to think about before," she told The New York Times. "Nobody cared that we didn't have a place in the faith." However, the sheik of Cairo's Al-Azhar mosque, one of the world's top Islamic institutions, said Islam did not allow for women to preach to men. "When she leads men in prayer... it's not proper for them to look at the woman whose body is in front of them," Sayed Tantawi wrote in a column for the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram. In New York, Aisha al-Adawiya, head of Women in Islam, said she feared a "backlash". The prayer service was moved after it was rejected by three mosques and an art gallery venue received a bomb threat, the AP reported.
