Kobe played real nice at the end and that shot he made to tie the game was - Incredible. Lakers are well coached and it definitely shows in this series. If Kobe wins this series, he will be the MVP. It just makes nba sense. Look how he changed up his game in the playoffs and is dishing out the ball now and playing better defense. The game was real exciting. Best playoff game so far. Miami is tied with Bulls now 2-2 (Real nice).

Did anyone see Kobe give Nash a Nat nastttyyy facial crownin' last night  Just sick. Lebron is the MVP, the man has the mightest touch....he plays sweet ball like its an instrument. Carter's defense is real nice (he blocked J.O'neal and through that ball back to Portland) MVP race is btwn kobe and nash. Whoever wins there series, most likely should get the MVP.

Does anyone know how to go about doing this. If I want to promote my site and get it on the first pg of a google search listing, how would I go about doing so.

Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion." Does any woman really think that this is a message from her creator? It's so wrong on so many levels it's kind of breathtaking. I can't believe some wouldn't reject it even on the basis that it clearly contradicts the Qur'an. Now you know that Proud_Muslimah and other nomads already dealt with this issue back in Oct./Nov. 2005 and you were back then the propagater of the Negative View of Women.... You got dealt with so why bring it up again unless you are bidding to do the work of the Shaytan.

Layzie G, Do you remember a certain player by the name of Jordan? He use to take 30+ shots a game and maybe make 12 -15 of the them. Nobody cared about how many shots he took....30+ points at the end of the night is still good enough for anybody-no matter how it is achieved! King james is just McNasty! He got the MAGIC touch. The passes that nash was making were crazy. He makes the game real fun. Spurs tore a WHOLE into the Kings-Its gonna be a sweep b/c they need to make a statement, the media don't respect them enough. Defending champs and 2nd best record in the league don't get enough attention these days..... Nuggets and Clips-Who cares! Mavs and Memphis-Who cares!

Does Cooking Purify? As for cooking with alcohol that is a liquid intoxicant, since the alcohol in food evaporates upon cooking, one might imagine that that removes the filth. In reality, even though there may remain no body of the alcohol in the food, the food is filthified upon contact with it and is not purified by the evaporation of the alcohol, but only by being washed. Source if you mean that one can use alcohol because it burns away; even if that may be the case, which is by no means certain, it is still haram. The reason is that, in the moment of contact with the alcohol, the food would become Najis and therefore haram to eat. This is the same if any Najasat, eg a drop of blood from a cut, enters the food Source

Nur said: likewise, when the heart is full with Dhiker, it makes all other parts of the body soft and lively, responding to Allahs coammandments, if you remind that person to do good, she/he will readily do the good, but when there is no Dhiker in the heart, the persons iman senses will dry up, if you ask them to do good they will resist and as a result break away from their maker That is the difference between a Mumin/Believer and a Kafir/Non-Believer. When a Mumin is reminded of their sins, they repent and seek Allah's pleasure (I think that I heard this from Ahl Al Tasawuf) and it is ever so true.

Reality of Muslims is different than Reality of Islam, therefore the comparison shows that "Muslims" are at times more westernized than the western. 6. Agree with any statement that agrees with Quraan and Sunnah, Not people, for the sake of good conversation 14. Western women are raised to accept every lifestyle , they see as a personal choice and they respect it, thus the Dancer and a person who doesnt object to it even if they dont do it are not far apart in morality from Islam's perspective. We as " Muslims" have our own decadent lot, a Muslim turist was once asked by a cabbie of he wants a night girl, the Toursit said, " I am muslim", the cabbie said " I have Muslim girls" my point is our realities in terms of morality is at times very close if not identitical, but our principlas are far apart. Nur I like your #2 point "they do not have a single standard of " Westernerness" " is true but at the same time it is not entirely true. Reason being is they thrive on 'change/chance (as Mutakalim put it)' and that too requires a regularity of sorts;though be it a down spiral towards Nothingness aka Other then Tawhid, Jahnum/Hell etc... 6. Agree with any statement that agrees with Quraan and Sunnah, Not people, for the sake of good conversation Alhamdulillah caala kulli xaal waa nuucudu Billah min xaali axali anaar!

Salamun caliykum, Sometimes when I read a particular work written by one of the ulama/scholars of islam, i am just mesmerized by the depth of knowledge, their effort and work as daees/propagaters of Islam and their Hikmah/Wisdom. We have had 1400yrs+ worth of Islamic scholarship, which is something absolutely amazing and significant. In anycase, I saw on another forum, where this question was asked and I just wanted to share with the SOL nomads and find out: Which Islamic Scholar (From Hasan Al-Basari and Imam Jafar as sadiq to Shiekh Ibn Baz or Shiekh Kishk (famous blind egyptian scholar of the 20th century) would you like to meet? Personally, I would like to meet: -Imam Tirmidhi (Part of the 6 sahih hadith colletors) - Imam Sayuti-the amount of books he has writing and the depth of understanding he displays in them is unbelievable. -Shiekh Al Akbar ibn arabi-subhanAllah, an alim that is often misunderstood by the layman. However, his adherence and reverence to islam could be seen in his work. Pls do share nomads what Scholars you would like to meet (past and present included). Pls avoid critiquing other people's choices. Fi Amanillah

Don't the pacers have sterojevic and o'neal injured as well as tinsley? Are all 3 of them going to make a 'playoff' comeback? If so, then it might be a different story, but I think that the nets will beat them in 5 games-at the most! Cleveland will win their series against the Wizards in a sweep. They play well together and king james will play 'magic johnson' like. Detriot will sweep the bucks. Miami and chicago will be the best 1st round series to watch in the East, unless o'neal and pedro play for the pacers. 6game series for Miami San Antonio will Crush the Kings 4-0. Suns and Lakers-can't wait for that one. 6game series win for the suns. Den and Clippers-I say clippers in 5games Mav.s and Memphis-5 games for the Mavs

1. Let the sisters speak No matter how well-spoken, eloquent or intelligent a brother is, the bottom line is this: he is not a Muslim woman. That means no matter how much you, as a Muslim man tell a non-Muslim woman how wonderful hijab is, it will be harder for her to accept this because you have never worn Hijab and you are not a woman. Whenever possible, have sisters answer questions pertaining to Islam and women. I have always believed this to be very true...and I think that Proud_Muslimah did an excellent job, back in Oct./nov. 05 with regard to this issue Proud_Muslimah . Also, Umm Salafiyaa too had done a good job on SOL. Muslim Men will always look bad when it comes to women and islam...point blank!

Well put my Nur: Participation in the economy is a reality for muslim women. Answer: Yes it is, unfortunately, the Islamic vision of participation is different that that current one. Allah provides Rizq, even if women stay home to care for the kids, men will be given a Rizq twice as he earned when his wife was working 9-5, 5 days a week, hardly having time to see her hubby or kids, Allah SWT says in Quraan : Wa mur ahlakja bissalaati wa astabir calayhaa, laa nas'aluka rizqaa, naxnu narzuquk, wal caaqibatu littaqwaa", meaning " Order your family members to perform regular prayers, (and when they resist) be patient and tolerant ( do not stop this activity for seeking money)we do not ask you to find your own RIZQ, we will provide (RIZQ) sustenance for you (and family) and at the end, those with TAQWA will have the (last laugh) (those who look things from Allah;s perspective and follow his commandments) Rizq can be iman( Faith), wealth, friends, family, happiness, inspiration, education, children, anything that adds positive value to a person is a from of Rizq. Things for their sake we neglect our prayers. Blessed, The Message is usually in the Messenger.

Originally posted by naden: Aya seeks to regulate interpersonal relationships and to extrapolate that to the public sphere must be done with extreme caution given that women in muslim societies take an equal (if not more) share of work, unpaid or otherwise. To me, the issue is how women (and men) can have greater say in policies that affect their lives and the work that they do. If it means political participation at all levels, so be it. That is a reality, unlike the hypothetical 'Who will have his finger on the red button when the Islamic Caliphate is finally realized?' Imam Fakhr al-Din al-Razi is another exegete who considers the relation of the verse "Men are caretakers of women" to other verses: Know that Allah Most High has said [two verses previously], ". . . and not to long for that with which Allah has preferred some of you above others" (Qur'an 4:32), a verse that we said was revealed because some women made remarks about Allah's favoring men over them in estate division inheritance [by certain male heirs receiving twice the share of their female counterparts]. So Allah mentions in this verse that He only favored men over women in estate division because men are the caretakers of women. For although both spouses enjoy the usufruct of each others person, Allah has ordered men to pay women their marriage portion, and to daily provide them with their support, so that the increase on one side is met with an increase on the other--and so it is as though there is no favoring at all. This clarifies the verses arrangement and order (Tafsir al-Fakhr al-Razi. 32 vols. Beirut 1401/1981. Reprint (32 vols. in 16). Beirut: Dar al-Fikr, 1405/1985, 10.90). Finally, the more fiqh-oriented exegesis of al-Kaya al-Harrasi notes that while Allah has mentioned men's support of women in verses such as the one in surat al-Tahrim "Let him who possesses plenty spend of his plenty; and let him whose provision is straitened spend of what Allah has given him" (Qur'an 65:7), in this verse [Men are caretakers (qawwamuna) of women], He mentions the necessary cause (`illa) for this support, so scholars have naturally inferred from the two verses taken together that whenever a husband is unable to support his wife, he is no longer her caretaker: she is not obliged to remain at home [should he request it] in any school of jurisprudence, and according to the school of al-Shafi'i (Allah be well pleased with him), she is entitled to have the marriage annulled. He is no longer a caretaker or entitled to oblige her to remain at home because he has vitiated the objective of protecting her by marriage, for the aim of marriage is her security (Ahkam al-Qur'an. 4 vols. Cairo n.d. Reprint (4 vols. in 2). Beirut: Dar al-Kutub al-Ilmiyya, 1405/1985, 2.449). Source Why is Political participation for women, an important topic in the 20-21st century? Most people that espouse for the that, also happen to champion Democracy as the ideal political system....hmmm, now why is that?

The 'go for it' crowd, what are your basis for your advices? Is it based on sentiment? i.e. I would love to go to...wow, backpacking is a great idea, my friend did it and I did it to, so go for it...etc. Is it based on rationality? e.g. You bought that ticket, so for the sake of not incurring a financial loss, you should go and enjoy your trip. The poor sis saved up her hard earned money for this trip (thats a bit of sentiment too)....etc. Ibtisam, don't let your conscious goooo tooo sleeeep!!!

Originally posted by Suleyman: As-salaam Alaikuum I must first mention that the reports he mentioned in the al-Ihyaa have no chain of narrations (sanad). He simply reports them. To name a few examples, the hadeeth about Salaatur-Raghaa’ib, the hadeeth that the sahabas are the station of the stars in the sky so whichever of them you take, you will be guided. The hadeeth about the salaah for the middle of Sha'baan. The Qudsi hadeeth: ""Neither My Heaven nor My earth can contain Me, but the soft humble heart of my believing servant can contain Me" Imaam al-‘Iraaqi discusses all the reports found in the Ihyaa and whether they are authenthic or not in his takhreej of Ihyaa. As-salaam Alaikuum As for his blame of the Ihya for al-Ghazzali's indulgence in some narrations: it is known that the latter did not have skill in the hadith, and that most of the narrations and stories of the Ihya are taken from his predecessors among the Sufis and jurists. The man himself did not provide a single isnad, but one of our companions [Zayn al-Din al-'Iraqi] took care to document the narrations of the Ihya, and only a small amount were declared aberrant or anomalous (shâdhdh). I shall cite them for the sake of benefit ... Nor is al-Ghazzali's phrasing 'the Prophet said' meant as a definitive attribution to him but only as an attribution that appears definite. For if he were not assuming it true, he would not say it. The matter was not as he thought, and that is all. As for al-Turtushi's statement concerning the forgeries found in the Ihya, then ( I ask you ) is al-Ghazzali the one who forged them so that he may be blamed for them? To blame him for them is certainly nothing more than inane fanaticism. It is an attack which no serious examiner can accept. " End of Ibn al-Subki's words from Tabaqat al-Shafi`iyya al-Kubra. Ibn al-Jawzi ( a detractor of Sufis ) similarly dismisses the Ihya in four of his works: I'lam al-Ahya. bi Aghlat al-Ihya ('Informing the Living of the Mistakes of the Ihya), Talbis Iblis, Kitab al-Qussas, and his history al-Muntazam fi Tarikh al-Muluk wal-Umam. His views influenced Ibn Taymiyya and others. The basis of their position was also that al-Ghazzali used too many weak or baseless hadiths. Other moderate hadith masters documented almost every single hadith in the Ihya without questioning its usefulness as a whole, accepting its immense standing among Muslims and contributing to its embellishment and spread as a manual for spiritual progress. Among these scholars: More importantly, the majority of hadith masters hold it permissible to use weak hadiths in other than the derivation of legal rulings, such as in the encouragement to good and discouragement from evil (al-targhûb wa al-tarhûb), as countless hadith masters have indicated as well as other scholars, such as Imam al-Safadi. It must be understood that al-Ghazzali incorporated all the material which he judged of use to his didactic purposes on the bases of content rather than origin or chain of transmission; that most of the Ihya consists in quotations from Quran, hadith, and the sayings of other than Ghazali, his own prose accounting for less than 35% of the work; and that three quarters of the huge number of hadiths cited are authentic in origin. The Hanafi hadith master Murtada al-Zabidi began his great commentary on the Ihya with an explanation that al-Ghazzali's method of hadith citation by conveying the general meaning without ascertaining the exact wording, had a basis in the practice of the Companions and Salaf: 'The verification of the wording of narrations was not an obligation for al-Ghazzali ( may Allah have mercy on him!) He would convey the general meaning, conscious of the different significations of the words and their mutual conflict with one another avoiding what would constitute interpolation or arbitrary rendering of one term with another. 'A number of the Companions have permitted the conveyance of Prophetic hadiths in their meanings rather than their wordings. Among them: 'Ali, Ibn 'Abbas, Anas ibn Malik, Abu al-Darda., Wathila ibn al-Asqa', and Abu Hurayra ( may Allah be wellpleased with them! ) Also, a greater number of the Successors, among them: the Imam of imams al-Hasan al-Basri, al-Sha'bi, 'Amr ibn Dinar, Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, Mujahid, and 'Ikrima. Ibn Sirin said: 'I would hear a hadith from ten different people, the meaning remaining one but the wordings differing.' Similarly, the Companions' wordings in their narrations from the Prophet have differed one from another. Some of them, for example, will narrate a complete version; others will narrate the gist of the meaning; others will narrate an abridged version; others yet replace certain words with their synonyms, deeming that they have considerable leeway as long as they do not contradict the original meaning. None of them intends a lie, and all of them aim for truthfulness and the report of what he has heard: that is why they had leeway. They used to say: 'Mendacity is only when one deliberately intends to lie.' 'In the hadith master al-Suyuti's commentary on [al-Nawawi's] al-Taqrib, in the fourth part of the twenty-sixth heading, the gist of what he said is as follows: 'If a narrator is not an expert in the wordings and in what shifts their meanings to something else, there is no permission for him to narrate what he has heard in terms of meaning only. There is no disagreement concerning this. He must relate the exact wording he has heard. If he is an expert in the matter, [opinions have differed:] a large group of the experts of hadith, fiqh, and usûl said that it is not permitted for him to narrate in other than the exact same words. This is the position of Ibn Sirin, Tha'lab, and Abu Bakr al-Razi the Hanafi scholar. It is also narrated as Ibn 'Umar's position. But the vast majority of the Salaf and Khalaf from the various groups, among them the Four Imams, permit narration in terms of meaning in all the above cases provided one adduces the meaning. This dispensation is witnessed to by the practice of the Companions and Salaf, and shown by their narrating a single report in different wordings. Source
