I thought that I might share this.... Shia's view Shia are glad that some Sunni have come to the conclusion that Nikah Mut'ah fills a necessary social function in giving laws for those who need it. At the same time Shia look with a humoristic disbelief on the people who refuse acknowledge that Umar made a innovation in forbidding Nikah Mut'ah, and rather innovate their own inferior version of Nikah Mut'ah, a version without Quranic support, not giving the woman the right to know how long the marriage is supposed to last. Since it is stated by Sunni Scholars that it is not permissible to stipulate a date of divorce, Shia view this form of marriage as deception and a gross sin towards the woman entering a marriage without knowing that the husband has the hiden intends to divorce after a period. Shia also view this as playing with the concept of Nikah and damaging its concept of being a permanent marriage, since the Sunni scholars deeming it Halal do so in belive that it is ultimately a normal Nikah, with the same rules, although changed by the couple. These are good questions to ask and will reflect the leadership style. As a saying goes-The People are a reflection of their leader. What do you know about the Courts? If they ruled the whole of Somalia, what interpretation of the faith do you expect them to apply and what ones do you wish they would avoid? Salafiyyah, as that is what somalis know of. Although, from Northerner's article, Sh. Ahmed isn't one. In anycase, there is alot of goodness in the salafiyyah movement in their work in Somalia. Qurans are being read again, masjids are being filled and various sunnans are being practised. It isn't a lax form of Islam but I don't think that these people need a 'laxity' right now. Some rigidity is good to get the job done. 15yrs of laxity haven't produced much. Inshallah, they will maintain their status and uphold good governance. For Allah does not lay to waist the work of the rigtheous believers.... Fi Amanillah

So how could we copy them if we have very different assumptions on both Human nature and our priorities? This is at the heart of it all... The Muslim comes from a different worldview i.e. That Man is a temporal being created to worship his Lord and is a creature for the Hereafter. This world is a temporary state. (IDEAL MUSLIM b/c most of us are confused and are accidentaly muslim, not consciously.) For the avg. capitalistic consumerism "ACC" (which is what most of the population aspires to be), their worldview is that this world is all they got. Therefor, do ALL YOU CAN or 'BE ALL YOU CAN BE'. Consquences come into play when it is a financial matter i.e. threat of jobless, loss of home etc. Therefor, interest and any other means to attain financial gain is acceptable to the Avg. capitalistic consumerism "ACC", albeit it has to be legal. Whether the action is moral or not is a relative and subjective matter for the ACC. From what I have understood, Islamic financing is not about attaining 'Jannah' on earth i.e. a comfortable life. Rather it is about building a healthier and stronger muslim community. The aim of this is for muslims to interact and help one another and give 'goodly loans/qarda hasna' and 'sadqats' and pay our'Zakats', so that we might attain TAQWA/Consciousness of Allah It is to intergate the secular with the sacred. Hence, why when Salat is mention in the quran, the word zakat follows it: And be steadfast in Salat; practise Zakat; and bow down your heads with those who bow down (in worship). (2:43) But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge, and the believers, believe in what hath been revealed to thee and what was revealed before thee: And (especially) those who establish regular prayer and pay Zakat and believe in Allah and in the Last Day: To them shall We soon give a great reward. And certainly Allah made a covenant with the children of Israel, and We raised up among them twelve chieftains; and Allah said: Surely I am with you; if you keep up prayer and pay the ZAKAT and believe in My messengers and assist them and offer to Allah a goodly gift, I will most certainly cover your evil deeds.... These are just a few ayats as there are many more linking Salat with Zakat. Fi Amanillah

Maybe I can put this in laymen's terms: If I lend money to Northerner to buy a car and the conditions are: -Northerner come up with 25-%50% of the downpayment. -Repayment plan over 5yrs. -Khayr owns the car incase of default in the repayment plan. -Khayr gets a profit of $1000 at the end of the 5yr term for providing the loan services. -Loan amount is $5000 to Northerner. Would this be Halal? How does the lender 'benefit financially' from lending the loan? In the case of a home, I can say that the parties can agree to sell the home after a number of yrs. or at a fixed prices and split the equaty in the homes. i.e. Djib-Somali gets a loan from Northerner to purchase a home. Terms: -Djib has to put down 5% of the purchasing home price. -A 5yr term (Vendor take back i.e. Northerner buys the home and enters into a home equity sharing agreement with Djib.) Home is to be sold in 5yrs at a particular bottom line price. -Equity shares after the sale of house are split percentage wise. i.e. 75% for Northerner (Majority Shareholder) and 25% for Djib (Minority Shareholder). Now, how is the risk 'reduced' for Northener in this case?

These Mad Scientists.... Until then, theoretical physicists had cobbled together small pieces of evidence that the universe and everything in it had appeared suddenly about 15 billion years ago from an infinitesimally small point in a vacuum of nothingness. What difference does a million or a billion yrs make to the average person re: the life span of the universe? What a complete waste of energy and resources? You know the funny thing is, another Mad Scientist will come up with a new set of Emprical findings and make new conclusions and develop new theories....and another one will follow and do the same.....and another one.... Meaning, the information just becomes RELATIVE and subject to change at anytime.

Hmmm, why do those with 'fat bellies and a lap top' roar...oops, I mean squeek, so often and so much? Amin Amir who has done a stunning job educating the public with his political cartoons. Amin is well known to draw cartoons related to the most current issues of Somalia and his cartoons does not portray only the ICU’s flawed process, but also the TFG. A quick review of Mr. Amin’s cartoons would show that he has exposed cartoons related to pertinent issues in Somaliland and Puntland as well. [/quote} Just like any artist, Mr. Amin is only interested in his 'version' of the 'Painting'. Truth is a relative thing to an artist and is always a subjective matter.

Somaliland Wadaado head to Mogadishu for an unknown mission
Khayr replied to Libaax-Sankataabte's topic in Politics
This is in a nutshell what this Islamists are about, and I really do not blame them; for if I was a committed revolutionary, at least in their kind of mould, I would have done the same tactics of trying to appeal to the hearts of the public, which is full of mushy sentiments(particularly as it regards to the notion of our creedal belief-system, such as Islam, and it's sacred Koranic Text) as opposed to applying myself with a rigorous debate that I can proceed to acquit my arguments, in it’s larger sense from it's opponents; with the aid of deeply analytical frame-of-mind, to say the least, in so far as my interlocutors are concern. An appeal to the 'Emotions'....why-isn't that the aim of Democracies in the form of Elections? The Majority of people are not 'intellectuals' and do not possess "deeply analytical frame-of-mind". So why the differential treatment towards the UIC for being politically acute and suave. For them to use 'islamic unity for somali' as their campaign slogan is the right thing to do and inshallah, with the right intentions, they shall prosper. Although, in many minds including mine, they have prospered. -

Diminishing Musharaka Diminishing Musharaka is a form of partnership, which ends with the complete ownership of a partner who purchases the share of another partner in that project by a redeeming mechanism agreed between both of them. Applying this mechanism on property financing, we will enter into a partnership with you for the purchase of a property, thereby having common ownership in it. Thereafter, we will lease our share in the property to you and will receive agreed rentals. Periodically, you will purchase a pre-agreed percentage of our share in the property, thereby increasing your ownership in the property and reducing our share by a similar amount. The ownership of the entire property will pass to you upon successful completion of the agreed lease term. Terms of Financing: Bank Participation : Maximum 50% of the property value Financing Period : Up to 10 years Mode of Payment : Quarterly, Semi-annual or Annual terms are available Source of Payment : Rentals of the property Bank’s Rental : EIBOR rate plus margin applied on the outstanding value of the Bank’s share in the Musharaka Property for each rental period Security : First class mortgage on the land & building, post dated cheques covering installments Insurance : The Musharaka property to be fully insured in Bank’s favour Qualified Assets : Residential, Office Buildings & Villa Complexes What is an EIBOR rate ? It sounds like that it is a 50/50 parternship. How does an the average consumer come up with 50%

In addition, in Ayah(s) 159 and 160 of Surah 3: Ali Imran, the Qur’an reads as follows: “It is part of the Mercy of Allah that thou dost deal gently with them. Wert thou severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about thee: so pass over (their faults) and ask for (Allah’s) forgiveness for them; and consult them on affairs (of the moment). Then, when thou hast taken a decision, put thy trust in Allah. For Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him)†I believe that the UIC has consulted with people re: Kismayo take over without a bullet fired, and they inshallah will continue to do so. For Wisdom dictates that gentle action towards people is what gains their allegiance and loyalty. Allow sahal amuuraha Amin

Some questions that maybe Northener and D.S. and Nur and others can help with: How does a muslim obtain an interest free loan to buy into a business or even startup a business? Are there interest free loans for purchasing vehicles? How does Equit sharing work in such a suitation? How about interest free student loands? Please don't provide a 'link only' response. Jazaka Allah khayrun

This is just the kinda of exposure that the worlds is looking for. These demonstrators are just some cronies puppets. Conflict must occur and is necessary for change. If the people revolt, so be it. That does not mean that their revolt is correct and legitimate. The Shaytan works well on the weak souls!

Better yet, just hit that remote control and tell me how many channels adhere to the tenants of ANY orthodox faith. Porn, slander by way of media, crime, reality t.v. (no holds barred viewing of people's private lives') is what is rampant. Do the numbers: how many hours a day do you and your friends spend infront of the television and compare that to the number of hours spent on ANYTHING RELIGIION AFFLIATED? You are a good sample population and the same can be said of the kids in burco or capetown or manila etc. Wisdom is the lost-property of the believer; wherever he should find it, he should recover it" (cf. Tirmidhi, lbn Majah). I don't think that at this moment in time, that Christainty is a threat to Islam or anyone. There is a greater threat and it is one that threatens all religions. That is what the Pope is talking about.

Do you think that a salafi can be 'westernized'? Are our ulema often forced to 'square the circle' when it comes to islamic issues to fit the current world view? When we think of a social construct for Somalia, aren't our ideas heavily influenced by 'westerner ideals' such as consitutionialism; liberal freedoms i.e. all is equal;capitalist ventures etc...? Lions do not give birth to wolf cubs, and you are unlikely to pick mangos from a cherry tree.
