Lets role a dice, shall we? Peace. This is what puzzles the avg. modern person and this is what leads them into their agnostic thinking. You can have many divergent schools of thoughts and at the end of the day, they reveal some aspects of the Truth but none of them really can contain Allah, the Truth. So you can be a salafi, ashari, mutarudi, tablighi etc. and still be "saved". How and Why? Through Taqwa (Consciousness and Fear of God) and Iman (Belief in God).

Now that we understand that Islam is perfect and that the Quran and the Sahih Sunnah is infallible the question is how we practice. Just a note, Allah is Perfect and we seek his perfection never being able to attain it. Islam is not Allah, therefor, it can't be Perfect. It is a Manifestation of Allah, a Revelation but that does not make it Perfect. Why? Because it is other than ALLAH, whom Alone the role of Perfection can be attributed to. It is important to make this distinction because we can't claim "Perfection" for our Deen. If you say that Islam is Perfect, then you are putting Islam at the Top and all else follows then. So Allah then becomes Muslimized and put Under Islam and not Above Islam.

If "action" aka "to do" was Optional then there would be no need for Shariah or Quran or Nabi for that matter. It would be akin to the new age Spiritualist movement of the Hollywood types that all claim to be 'Spiritual' bu not necessarily following a particular religion.

Salamun caliykum, I don't see a problem with the brother's post. Somalis in the west of late, only one particular form of islam and that is salafism aka wahabbism. There many other schools of thought in the the deen and truthfully speaking, Salafism is a new phenomena. However, that does not mean that there is no baraka in it. There are limitations in that school of thought just like there are limitations in the Ashari Madhaeb or Jafari etc. Important thing is not to make a particular Madhab or Aqeedah into the Allah i.e. Not to be so fixated on it that you end up just thinking about it all day and night and forget to Remember Allah.
-
But I want my own source of income Why do you want your own source of income? Money won't be an issue when you have family and your clan and living among other somalis in somalia. Plus, unless you are planning on being like other brit ladies, you will probably settle down and start your own family inshallah. So your question is really not addressing all the Good Things and Possibilities but rather drowning in pessimism. After your first night, you won't remember Londonistan! By the way, whom ever coined the phrase Londonistan is an outright racist and hate monger.

Wow...Rania, what a Mujtahida such innovative qiyas.

Why didn't she say of course otherwise I wouldn't be Muslim; it is between god and themselves. but you know we don't breech hate against you people jeremy. It is all about community cohesion. Whether you go to hell or not that is between you and the creator; in Britain it is our moral duty to live cohesively with one another. Is that what she said or what you want her to say? If thats what she said, what would you say faced in the spotlight? Just curious.... One rule of thumb by the way-Muslims and Media don't go together like Oil and Vinegar (i think thats the mixture). Ignore Media requests at all costs.

Salamz, يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تُبْطِلُواْ صَدَقَاتِكُم بِالْمَنِّ وَالأذَى O you who believe, annul not, the rewards of, your voluntary almsgivings with reproach and injury[ /QUOTE] Such a request on line and its purpose are truely sicking. Unless the person is does not pray and thus not having that tie to Islam, wishing divorce upon them is a curse. Divorce might be halal but it is the most hated thing that Allah has made permissible in the Shariah of Islam. Question-Suppose your cousin divorces-What of them then? Her value has gone down and she will be known as a 'Divorcee'. You will have devalued her worth and her family honor. Also, are you prepared to offer long term emotional and financial support. Remember now, Divorce in the deen is considered to be a critically negative point in someone's life and is contrary to the idea of Tawhid. And for those yapping away about if he beats her, they should divorce ASAP-cut the crap. Who would be there to help them in their time of difficulty that could last for years. Certainely not you nor I, so don't be quick to advocate for the dissolution of the family system which is sacred in Islam. Marriage is the bond that forms society and strengthens the muslim community. Divorce is the anti-thesis of those things e.g. strenght, unity, stability etc. Please don't get hot now and imply that I advocate for wife beating because that is certainely not part of the Muhammadan way (sunnah). Wife-beating in the West is not as big a problem as in Africa, etc. The woman is free to walk out and is unlikley to suffer by doing so. In Somalia and other places, where the man is the main breadwinner, life compels some women to stay and suffer just so that they can simple LIVE. Are you implying that wife-beating is more common in Africa than in the West? In anycase, this is about someone wanting to curse their family member and wish them Divorce. Allah yahdeekum!

Salams Its tempting to post a pic....but what is actually achieved through curiosity for the sake of the curious? I think that those that want to see each others pic can do so by instant messagins outside of SOL. Its private and more secure. The web is not safe and people's pic's can be easily downloaded and changed up. So using caution is sometimes the wiser route to go.

The police sister is within her rights not to shake the commissioners hands. She’s Muslim and her faith forbids her from shaking the hand of a stranger. Yet, doesn’t her faith also forbid her from strolling the streets without a mahram? In addition, the police the in the UK (and most other parts of the world) walk the streets in twos! Will she demand that her ‘partner’ be a female? Surely a service like the police and the army is built on discipline and the acceptance of your superiors orders, where does that leave our sister? Though your questions are valid and show that many inconsistencies make the personality. That does not negate the goodness in her intention and action. This is important to note because anytime a practicing muslim/muslimah suggests that they have been religiously discriminated the argument of 'moral purism' is brought up. i.e. Why are you working in a workforce with other men without a muhram yet not willing to go all the way and integrate fully. If part of you is inconsistent, then just give up totally and be consistent in error. All in the name of common sense So at the end of the day, Allah rewards us for our intention and Allah knows what is in the heart of the sister. P.S. Topics like this bring to SOL b/c they apply to our daily lives and what affects us. We are dealing with issues that grapple us and often force us to express what our inert believes us. Do we think Muslim or think Liberal?

لاطاعة لمخلوق في معصية الخالخ There is no Obedience in the creature when disobeying the Creator (ALLAH) How you can justify siding with those that want to uphold Secularism against those that want to establish the Word of Allah as Supreme is beyond rational. And on top of that, you try to use the deen to support those that don't want the deen. Allah yaheedka!

One of the great shuyukh has given the advice that when calling on Allah, call upon Him through one of this 99 names i.e. Oh Ar-Rahman (Merciful), have Mercy on us. Ya al Razq (sustainer), gives us good provisions. Anyways, looking forward to your input.

Maybe not too suprised but the fact that such a story is being publicized is worrism. Such scenarios are put in people's heads. What should suprise you, is how other people especially some muslims can justify this. All in the name of- Parental Love. It is diffentily a slippery slope if the one of the only things to live by is Sentiment e.g. I feel it, so it must be right! Truth becomes secondary and relativized.

Originally posted by Naden: ^ What do you think, Khayr? The decision, like the prospect of an infant who will never grow, is no doubt a torture for the parents. It is uncommon but maybe a lesser of two evils for this family. Many disabled women are raped in care facilities which is where adults are eventually housed when elderly parents cannot care for them. It will eliminate any discomfort during menses and fear of pregnancy. It is probably also geared towards inevitable weight gain and to minimize immobility risks. There are medical concerns that will surely need to be addressed but the amount of judgment and abuse hurled at the parents in unfortunate. This family's lot in life cannot be envied. Ha, this is wherein sentiment takes precedence for family members and the general public over religious principles. I am remembering myself b/c la qadra Allah such a situation would occur, it would be a real test of enormous proportions. This article reminds me of Minority report, wherein someone is presumed guilty due to their thoughts. Wherein, the future is pre-screened and planned for you. Same goes with the issue of Euthanasia-are you the one that HEALS or is ALLAH the HEALER and the One that WILLS IT. Be it good or evil (in our perceptions). As to my thoughts, I can very well compare this to FGM and what parents do in hopes of preventing their kids from committing zina. You don't know what the future holds and what Allah Wills tomorrow. They have butchered this child and these parents along with these so called Doctores, should be punished. The hell with sentiment, wrong is wrong and will always be wrong. Such actions are counter Revelation and very Satanic.

I don't think that we should spread such news on the net. The good things that people do never get highlighted, especially for the salahiin. However, any negativity or blimish on their character and it spreads like wildfire. On a side note, What are the views of these somali masajids on the situation in somalia? Do you think that agents are at work trying to gather info. from masjid attendees regarding the situation in somalia?

Parents defend treatment to keep girl child-sized Updated Thu. Jan. 4 2007 12:46 PM ET CTV.ca News Staff Parents of a nine-year-old U.S. girl with the mental ability of a three-month-old baby are defending their reasons for using medical treatments to keep their daughter child-sized for the rest of her life. The severely disabled Seattle girl, named Ashley, suffers from a type of brain damage doctors call static encephalopathy that will not improve. She cannot walk, talk, keep her head up, and is fed through a tube. Her parents call her "Pillow Angel" because she stays wherever they place her, usually on a pillow. Ashley -- who doctors expect to have a normal lifespan -- has had a hysterectomy, surgery to block breast growth and undergone hormone treatment that will limit her growth. The process became public when Ashley's doctors published her case in a U.S. medical journal last year, provoking fevered debate on the ethics surrounding the treatment of disabled children. Ashley's parents decided to go public with a blog, which was launched Jan. 1, explaining their choice. "Ashley has not shown material progress in her mental ability since she was three months of age, she is dependent on us in every way (including position change in bed), she can't hold a toy, and we're not sure she even recognizes us," wrote her parents, Seattle residents who have chosen to stay anonymous. But they say the youngster loves music and kicks and moves her arms when she likes a song. Her favourite musician is Andrea Bocelli, her parents say. Their daughter, who goes to a school for special needs children, is alert and aware of her environment, they wrote. They have defended their decisions, saying that keeping their daughter small will make her bed-ridden existence more comfortable and it will make it easier for them to move her around. "As a result we will continue to delight in holding her in our arms and Ashley will be moved and taken on trips more frequently and will have more exposure to activities and social gatherings (for example, in the family room, backyard, swing, walks, bathtub, etc) instead of lying down in her bed staring at TV (or the ceiling) all day long," they wrote. Ashley's parents say they are currently near the limits of their ability to lift their daughter at her weight of 65 pounds. "Therefore, an additional 50 pounds would make all the difference in our capacity to move her. Furthermore, other than her Mom and Dad the only additional caregivers entrusted to Ashley's care are her two Grandmothers, who find Ashley's weight even more difficult to manage. We tried hard and found it impossible to find qualified, trustworthy, and affordable care providers," they wrote. Keeping their daughter small will also prevent bedsores and infections, Ashley's parents say. In their blog, which includes photographs of Ashley, her parents wrote that the treatment is not intended to convenience the caregiver. "Rather, the central purpose of the treatment is to improve Ashley's quality of life," they wrote. Three years ago, Ashley's parents made the highly unusual decision to keep their daughter child-sized when they observed early signs of puberty. The procedures will keep Ashley always at about four feet, five inches, and 75 pounds making it easier for her to be moved. Ashley's parents also opted for surgery to remove their daughter's uterus and breast buds in consultation with doctors at Seattle Children's Hospital in 2004. "Ashley has no need for her uterus since she will not be bearing children," they say, adding that the decision means she will not experience menstrual cramps. The decision to remove her breast buds was partly to avoid sexualizing Ashley in the eyes of her caregiver, but mainly so that she would not experience discomfort when lying down. "If the concern has something to do with the girl's dignity being violated, then I have to protest by arguing that the girl lacks the cognitive capacity to experience any sense of indignity," they said. "The estrogen treatment is not what is grotesque here. Rather, it is the prospect of having a full-grown and fertile woman endowed with the mind of a baby." Ashley also underwent an appendectomy during her surgery, as she would not be able to communicate pain if she were to suffer from appendicitis, they said. But reaction to the treatment on websites has included charges that the couple's behaviour was "despicable" and "Frankenstein-esque." One reader wrote a note that said "Eugenics was my first thought" while another wrote "I find this offensive if not perverse." Ashley's treatment had been described as "ill-advised" by Jeffrey Brosco, a pediatrician at the University of Miami. However, he applauded doctors for publishing the case and helping to "advance our ethical dialogue" on the topic. Ashley's parents said the objection that their daughter's treatment interferes with nature is a "ridiculous objection." "Medicine is all about interfering with nature. Why not let cancer spread and nature takes its course. Why give antibiotics for infections? Even an act as basic as cutting hair or trimming nails is interfering with nature," they wrote. Some may question how God might view this treatment, Ashley's parents said in a blog entry dated Jan. 3. "The God we know wants Ashley to have a good quality of life and wants her parents to be diligent about using every resource at their disposal (including the brains that He endowed them with) to maximize her quality of life," they wrote. Source Is this cruelilty, selfishness or compassion or selfishness in the guise of compassion?
