Salamz, Folks stop the CV/Resume BS and starting building your web of Networks (easier said then done). Most of the jobs that I have ever had were through networking and building relationships with people. Unfortunately, as you get older your pride gets the best of you and networking becomes an issue of injury to personal pride.

Now her family park wherever they wish along the strip. All of this done by a criminal 20 something hijabi who owes the government thousands of dollars in parking fines . Ahhh, an article from the Washington Post....objective journalism at its best-always unbiased! Whats so confusing JB, Its about accountability and responsibility. If you break secular state laws such as tax evasion, sexually harass a co-worker, drink and drive etc., then you will be held accountable and will have to pay the consequences. Likewise, if you break the 'Shariah' and in particular you are of a Muslim background, you too will be held accountable and will have to pay the consequences.

Salams, I had a funny encounter today with a fellow that that I have been seeing alot of in the past few days/weeks. I think the guy is Afghani or Iranian... Anyways, this guy stands infront of the masjid asking for money right around salat time yet never comes in to pray salat. Last week, I saw him and didn't say anything and give him my change. Well today, I was walking towards him and he was asking everyone for money and this young girl gave him her sub sandwich. The guy saw me and said brother....and asked for money and then to top it all of he said 'look christian girl give me food, you don't give me' and I lost it for a minute. I reminded him that I gave him money last week and that he is always roaming around the same spot asking for more. He then denied that I ever gave him money and accussed me of not helping a 'brother'-SubhanAllah! Damn crackhead  Anyone had similiar experiences? P.S. On the one hand I am angry but at the same time I remember that hadith qudsi wherein Allah would question us about not feeding the hungry servant laakin this dude would rather ask for money then pray salat (salat time and they are outside the masjid not praying).

Originally posted by Caano Geel: On the second part, i don't quite know what bifurcation has to do with the relationship between the object under study and the subject studying it. If your talking about it in grand-terms of the relationship between the designer of the a chip or drug and its user, then I'm not sure what more of a relationship exists other than finding the answer to "is my product socially acceptable and required". Problem is some scientists will view their latest drug as a 'Product'. When you view an object as a 'product' you are examining it by certain traits just like you stated i.e. Is my product socially acceptable? It really comes down to that and hence why knowledge is subjective and is monopolized by the order of the day i.e. who is most influential? Biggest lobbyists (the Murdochs, Buffets, Gates etc.) Therefore, it not a question of 'what is Good?' but rather 'what is good for ME and US' and finally i don't see what religion has to do with any of it - again more contradictions in those last words of yours. You are unknowingly arguing the position of non-interventionism, for example everything has a cause to follow, a fate if you must and that we have no part in interfering with it. Sadly you contradict this daily in every non autonomic action you take. If you really believe to be true, try this, next time you see a car heading towards you while crossing the road dont command your body to move out of the way, wait until it reacts on its own accord. You are making JB's arguments re: The Prayer Experiment thread. Please re-read my posts and respond appropriately. If this method is wrongfully used by others to create "perfect people" (which is btw a really bad example to make your point) you could always legislate about its usage. Once corruption and 'leniency' in certain matters such as ;martial relations', 'economic and fiscal policies', 'abortion' etc. is introduced in society, to do the reverse is an upward battle. You have already introduced the ideas to people and will have to pay the consequences for the spread of such liberal and amoral ideas. A more concrete example is coming out with the 'day after pill' in hopes of preventing 'unwanted pregnancies' or the case of having patients smoke 'weed' because it numbs their pain. So then what makes these actions 'Rights' or 'Wrong'? What makes them 'Wrong' is the fact that they are propagated by the view that the Subject and the Object are not connected and that there is no 'sacred ontology' in the worldview of scientism. Reality is disconnected and we shape our own 'Reality'-The Modern Sentiment/Scientism’s argument.

Inshallah, I will try to explain it from an all together perspective... Zeno of Elia's is attempting to prove that without continuity, there would be no possible motion. What is also being defined is 'Infinite' as a notation, a numerical idea. What is ignored is that numbers are quantity. Numbers are a mode of quantity, of a mode of being that is not coextensive. Quantity is a determination and thus pertains to determined possibilities. Numbers are determined conditions and can thus only be FINITE. Numbers represent a certain set of possibilities. So to think of the Infinite quantivitely is not only to limit it but to conceive of it as a subject to increase and decrease, which is absurd. What Zeno and other 'logicians' should term or define is the 'Indefinite' and not the 'Infinite'. An indefinite can be used in relation to numbers but you can't use the idea of 'Infinite' for quantity for there can only be one Infinite and not multiple Infinites (a logical absurdity), just like there can't be 2 Eternals or 2 Absolutes. So viewing this 'paradox' from that point, we can state that in every interval, one may take into account an indefinite number of positions for the moving object and these cannot be exhausted in analytic fashion. What logicians are implying here is that Motion is continous and is composed of points or indivisable elements. Unless all we see is pure "motion" and not the turtle or Achilles, we have to admit that a discontinuity exists that is represented by the passage from motion to rest. In other words, we don't see 'Pure Light' which would be pure continuos motion but rather grades of light, which proves that discontinuity exists. In laymens terms, we can't give a Uniform definition to outcomes, we can't assess the idea of 'Infinite' quantitatively. Reality is Multi-layered and hierarchail and layered with meaning.

She supports abortion rights, which is a direct contradiction with her faith (I checked on her to see if she added for medical reasons etc, and she doesn't) finally she could not care less what goes on in other people's bedrooms, okay fine, unless it is rape, domestic violence etc (But I know that’s not the intended purpose) So what is my problem, well she seems to imply (not in this article specifically, but in interviews and other material I have read) that it is her that makes this changes, a so called Modern Muslim who is more open minded than the rest of the Danish Muslims, and I have no respect for someone that try's to get a leg up by standing on their own community, the very same people she is claiming to help, Isolating them further is not going to help her or them. So in conclusion, I think the compromises she has made in values (which may be due to her ideological believes) at times have and will put her at odds with the Muslim Community. MashaAllah, you hit it on the nail. In fact, the member who started this thread gave it 'confusing title'. You can't be a 'Feminist, Socialist Devout Muslim' Its an absurdity and contradiction. Its like saying the 'GOOD THIEF' or the 'Honest Liar'

Salaamz, I think that there is a difference in Perspective and Perceptionwhich is lead by two opposing world views-Modern Science v. Traditional Science What is being promoted is the world view of "Subjective Epistemology". An epistemology of "othering" knowledge and actions. A view that promotes the Cartesian bifurcation seperating the knowing subject and the object to be known. When functioning from such a worldview, it is easy to justify that solutions to problems lay in "better engineering or further progress". This overwhelming idea that modern science needs to dominate everything and by any means to further the quest for a "cure" permeates into everything. This is why people can justify implanting a chip in your brain in the name of "easier life". Questions of meaning, implications, how will this impact society? If we can implant a chip now for ALS patients then what stops us from implanting a chip for someone that wants the "perfect soldier" or the "perfect spouse" or the "perfect State Citizen". Where do we stop if everything is taken on a "case by case" basis. Long life and easier life is not the reason for creation of MAN, Oh but that is preaching religion. Well then why are you preaching scientism and reductionism i.e. sensory perception is all there is, Reality is Matter and nothing else (all that we 'sense' is true and all else is false).

Commenting on the extension today of the Sexual Orientation Regulations to cover mainland Britain, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain, Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari said: "We affirm our belief that the practice and promotion of homosexuality is forbidden according to the teachings of Islam. However the Sexual Orientation Regulations are not about religious belief but about prohibiting discrimination in the provision of goods and services on grounds of sexual orientation. The MCB stands opposed to discrimination in all its forms." Legal jargon aka wish wash.... It is condoning such actions and it is stating the secular laws curb religious laws and beliefs. The MCB is confused and is confusing muslims... You migh be against Discrimination but how you judge to be 'Discrimination' as a Muslim is based on the Islamic ethos. The Sharia is the governing legistlation of the muslim. No Muslim can make what is Haram in the Shariah to be Halal especially in the name of 'societal preference'. To do would go against what the Ulama (1400yrs of scholarship) have stated. As muslims we can't equate the seeing with the blind, the walking with the crippled etc. There is Hierarchy in God's creation and God has always stated this in his revelations. Humanism and Liberalism preaches otherwise. Now as a Muslim service provider in a secular state, you may have to "adhere to the state laws" but that does not mean that you should condone these laws and support them. What is being now habitual to the westernized muslim mindstate, is this confusion of what is discrimination and what is equality and how these ideas are actually in conflict with the deen, if they are being promoted in the name of 'Secular Liberalism'. You can't have two hearts as it states in the Quran and what these issues reveal is that some Muslim organizations and their Administrators often try to show an image with a body that posesses two hearts-ISLAM and Secularism.

Are we still human if a chip is implanted in the brain? Are we still human if one cannot even blink yet the brain is intact. ALS severs the connection between the brain and the body. Why would a chip that offers some remedy make one less human? Khayr, seriously man! Wouldn't you want everything done for you if you were this poor b@stard? How can you still be human when you have a chip in your brain? Doesn't that make you a Cyborg. You won't have MAN being a reflection of GOD but rather a Deformed and Transfigured MAN that can no longer connect to Divinity and their Theomorphism (i.e. Bani Adam, Man created in the Image of God as God's representative on Earth). What is being argued by these people is that the INDIVIDUAL LIFE is the MOST SACRED thing in the WORLD. Forget the Quality of Life but it is the Quantity of life (duration) that is the most important thing. When such a philosphy is eschewed, then you can have stem cells, cloning, abortion, euthanasia and all else. Because MAN becomes measured in Quantity (duration of life) rather than Quality. The sense of a Hereafter is lost and this opens up the Panadaros box. What this dude wants to become is a FRANKEISTEIN.

This is the age wherein the Imams and Priests are replaced with Pyschoanalysts and self-help gurus that take GOD out of the Picture and put the Individual Psychi aka the NAFS, at the top of the Pyramid. For example, if you have financial troubles and begin to panic about bills arriving in the post, then your negative thoughts will attract more bills and make the situation worse. Instead, you must focus on wealth - and that will come to you. Its not a question of negative thoughts but rather a question of DEFINITION-how do you define yourself-Psy being or a Spiritual being? If you see yourself as just pure Psychi (mental), then you will link events around you as just events void of link, void of hire meaning and all just about YOU, the INDIVIDUAL Psychi being. The new age self help movement lead by Tony Robbins, Deepak Chopra, Dr. Phil, Oprah etc. rejects GOD implicitly and states over and over again that the Individual (Nafs)is the Most important thing in the world. to be cont'd....

Salamz, I might be a little late on this one but did you know that most juices in store contain a similar amount of sugar to that of pop drinks such as coke. Your local halal meat shops mango or guava contains a whopping 32g of sugar. The same as a can of coke. Thats more sugar than the avg. farax/xalimo would take in their shaax. I was trying to eat a fruit yogurt and guess what, that contained a whopping 20g of sugar. Do you know what the healthy daily intake of sugar is for your appropriate height and weight? Its a sweet world...

Salamz, You know the deen is easy and extremes are counter-deen islam. For Islam is a deen of balance, of moderation (not to be confused with modernity and modern thinking). In cases where in you are not in your home or a muslim owned building, then follow another maadhab and do tayamum and leave your house with wudu. For those that have to do the "foot bath" then use a private or handicapped washroom (which are often private) Its not a question of safety but of unrealistic and foolish muslims thinking that they should be treated on every level-on par with everyone else.
-
Salamz, I haven't read the article top to bottom but a request for 'Foot Baths' is a little over the top. Whats next-Give me an Istinja bucket? If you don't live in Dar Al Muslimeen, then you have to have realistic expectation and now your identity. You will never be the "equal citizen" that some preach when they give you your U.S. passport and that will always be the case. These demands are just become ridiculous and are often made by unreasonable people. Imagine asking for a "foot bath" at your workplace.

^^^^ The Shaytan just wants Attention and to put doubt in people's heart. Your questions have been answered but I don't think that you 'seek' answers but that you just want to 'preach' your lack of consciousness, your lack of awareness to the rest of us. So why don't creep back to your hole....don't hurt your head on the way down.

You live in a western society were you indulge in riba and constant unislamic taxes! Some of these taxes probably go to fund wars against Muslims. In fact if you really obeyed your lord, you would have migrated from the West! That is, if you live in the West! Salamz, Saxib what you are pointing to are called 'unavoidable necessities'. You have to pay taxes, you need a bank account to receive your wages etc. There are no alternatives because we don't live in 'Dar al Muslimeen'. However, that does not validate the slippery slope of legitamizing all things such as not observing hijab and the beard, sending children to secular schools, eating pork, not paying zakat, not fasting, not going to hajj, not praying etc. What Tariq is promoting is REFORM and to hold 'Liberal Democratic Values' more than 'Islamic values'. To Tariq Ramadan, being the GOOD CITIZEN above all else (total integration) is what is to be valued. He would say that the islamic values are to be practiced in the home and not practiced outside the home. As to your claim that In fact if you really obeyed your lord, you would have migrated from the West! That is, if you live in the West! well the Ulama differ on that and the concensus opinion is that you have to be 'Propogating the Deen' wherever you are. Meaning practicing it inwardly and outwardly, for what good is to migrate somewhere and not practice your deen. So if you go to kuwait and end up losing your deen then you might be better off in the Wales and vice versa.

Just something that caught my eye on his website: Q : The French banned headscarves in schools. But they also banned crucifixes. The ban is on overt religious symbols of all kinds. Surely Muslims should respect France’s tradition of laicite, according to which all religious beliefs should be put aside in public places. Do you have any sympathy with that sort of strong French left-wing secular tradition? A : In theory you are right. But the practice of laicite dates back to a law of 1905. If a law already exists, why a new law in 2004? This is because crucifixes were accepted under the old law. The new law was passed because of France’s Muslim presence. The reality is that France’s secular tradition is being adapted to target a specific group. French society is going through something of an identity crisis. I have told all French girls that, if they have to make a choice between going to school and wearing the headscarf, they must choose school. Just go. This is the law. But at the same time, being a democrat means that you continue to discuss the merits of the law and call for change. Secular Education comes first, then Obedience to Allah comes second  Q : You say that any woman ought to be able to wear a headscarf if she wants to. Would you also agree that a country such as Iran ought to allow any woman not to wear a headscarf? A : To force a woman to wear a headscarf is against Islamic principles and human rights. That’s it. Whats the purpose of Shariah and the Quran then? Tariq Ramadan or shall I call you Jacques Raul (I'm sure he would be more comfortable with the later French name), is it the hukmal Jahilliyah that you advocate for over Shariah? Q : Parts of the Koran are clear about accepting other people of the book, the Jews and Christians. But other parts are pretty intolerant of anybody who is, say a polytheist, and by implication anybody who is an atheist. You have said that the acceptance of Jews and Christians should now be extended to others too. A : In the Koran we have very strong verses against polytheists and, in some situations against Jews or Christians. But, again, we have to put things into context. We have to ask: why was it so in this particular situation? Was it because the Prophet was resisting oppression? Remember that the Prophet himself had connections with polytheists all his life. When he had to flee Mecca for Medina, he was guided by a polytheist. The emissary of peace he sent from Medina back to Mecca was a polytheist. His close uncle, [Abu Talib who had raised him as a child] chose not to become a Muslim, but the Prophet never said: "I’m going to kill you because you are a polytheist." So here we have freedom of speech and freedom of conscience for a close member of his family who decided that he did not want to become a Muslim. So is Tariq saying that it is your 'Freedom' to choose not to become a muslim (if you are of a muslim family and raised as a muslim)? Q : What about apostasy? What happens if you are born and educated a Muslim but then say: I have now decided that Islam is not for me. Would you accept that someone born into a Muslim family has a right to say that they no longer believe, and that families and communities must respect that? A : I have been criticised about this in many countries. My view is the same as that of Sufyan Al-Thawri, an 8th-century scholar of Islam, who argued that the Koran does not prescribe death for someone because he or she is changing religion. Neither did the Prophet himself ever perform such an act. Many around the Prophet changed religions. But he never did anything against them. There was an early Muslim, Ubaydallah ibn Jahsh, who went with the first emigrants from Mecca to Abyssinia. He converted to Christianity and stayed, but remained close to Muslims. He divorced his wife, but he was not killed. It is different for someone who becomes a Muslim during a war with the purpose of betraying Muslims. They are committing treason. This is why the context is so important because the Prophet never killed anyone because he changed religion. From the very beginning, Muslim scholars understood this. Islam does not prevent someone from changing religion because you feel that this is not right for you, or if you are not happy. There are two records of the Prophet saying that someone changing religion should be killed. But both sources are weak. The most explicit one-"He who changes his religion, kill him"-was not accepted as being authentic by Imam Muslim, [one of the top six biographers of the life of the Prophet]. Source This is just a snib bit. There is so much more and his article on the hudood ordiance stems from his view that the Quran is a 'Historical Text' and not 'Timeless Scripture' that is transhistorical and transgeographical . There are umptin errors in this 'media personality's' talks and writings. He is very much anti-traditional and pro-Islamic Reform.

BraainnGate™ Neural Interface System The BraainnGate™ Neural Interface System is currently the subject of a pilot clinical trial being conducted under an Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) from the FDA. The system is designed to restore functionality for a limited, immobile group of severely motor-impaired individuals. It is expected that people using the BrainGate™ System will employ a personal computer as the gateway to a range of self-directed activities. These activities may extend beyond typical computer functions (e.g., communication) to include the control of objects in the environment such as a telephone, a television and lights. The BraiinGate™ System is based on Cyberkinetics' platform technology to sense, transmit, analyze and apply the language of neurons. The System consists of a sensor that is implanted on the motor cortex of the brain and a device that analyzes brain signals. The principle of operation behind the BraaainGate™ System is that with intact brain function, brain signals are generated even though they are not sent to the arms, hands and legs. The signals are interpreted and translated into cursor movements, offering the user an alternate "BraaainGate™ pathway" to control a computer with thought, just as individuals who have the ability to move their hands use a mouse. Cyberkinetics is further developing the BrainnGatee™ System to potentially provide limb movement to people with severe motor disabilities. The goal of this development program would be to allow these individuals to one day use their own arms and hands again. Limb movement developments are currently at the research stage and are not available for use with the existing BrrainGate™ System. In addition Cyberkinetics is developing products to allow for robotic control, such as a thought-controlled wheelchair. In the future, the BraainGate™ System could be used by those individuals whose injuries are less severe. Next generation products may be able to provide an individual with the ability to control devices that allow breathing, bladder and bowel movements. The BrainnGate™ Neural Interface System is an investigational device. It is not approved for sale and is available only through a clinical study. I was watching a documenary the other night and it showed this person with ALS or Lou Gehgris disease. It is what the scientists Hawkins has. It kills all the nerve cells thus leaving you in a vegatative state. Well the individual in the documentary and his family started research on this new 'brain chip' technology so that a person who has ALS can be more mobile and live longer. What the mistake that was made is that this new techonology and its introduction was looked at from the point of view of Science and basically saving this individuals live. The implications were not asked and brought forth to light. Its atypical of scientific research that never knows boundaries and is always about the latest 'discovery' at all costs. Has science gone to far? Are we still human if a chip is implanted in the brain?

This whole Drama was a very well done play and it showed the hypocracy of the west. What the hell is a damn british ship doing in the middle of the middle east? Hell, it ain't an argument of being within 'iraqi water lines or not' but rather -who gave you the right to park your ships in middle eastern backyards? Imagine an iranian military fleet float about in the Wales? That would be considered an outright hostile action by the Brits. This should teach these colonialists to "back the hell on up and out" Iran played this very well. I loved Blair's speech. But Ahmed's speech was wicked. Truely Honor belongs to Allah, His Rasul (salallahu cailyhe wasilm) and the Belivers. Allahu Akbar!

SubhanAllah, I just saw a Model of this Mosque and its Architect. The Architect's aim is to MODERNIZE the MOSQUE (just check it the design that looks like an Oprah House or Art Gallery and not a MASJID) and have it become an INTERFAITH centre. Anyways, the spirit of it which is headlined by the Tabligh Jammat is good. I'm saying good because the Tablighees are traditional in outlook and they do produce many hufaaz. Inshallah khayrun
