MY APPOLOGIES---NOW LETS TALK BUSINESS(child abuse issue)
Khayr replied to silent-sistah's topic in General
Child Abuse? Where has this concept come from and the need for 'foster parents' originated from? Unless parents are hitting to the point that its effecting your five senses to the point of losing them (seeing, tasting, touching, hearing and the other sense (help me out here), then its not ABUSE. Child Abuse is a too overrated and I have seen many children try to use that against their parents when they wouldn't allow them to go outside with their friends or are being punished for doing Haram things. Silent Sistah, you where right in CLOSING you thread b/c it brings about many negativities. It distrubs me when I say a young muslim being sent of to 'foster parents' who are usually nonmuslims. This is where the Muslim Community and the idea of having a Shiekh to lead a Community instead of some elected officals becomes very important. I think that the idea of relatives and yes-Qabil that children should be applied to incases of crises, if there is no closely knit muslim community, which there isn't where I'm at. You know how what shame some ****** teenager brings to a family, qabil and muslim community when they CRY OUT CHILD ABUSE to some nonmuslim who just wants to take them away and put them in a world that would destroy the SOUL of that teenager. Don't get me wrong, I am against giving children a BEAT DOWN. But you better have some witnesses when you crying out CHILD ABUSE that that can back your statement up. This is why people who make false ACCUSATIONS Destroying the FAMILY STRUCTURE brings a big FITNAH to the muslim community. -
Salaamz, You know the BLACKOUT was a definite SCARY situation especially when you come to think that if it lasts any longer, any minute now, you won't have WATER. The BLACKOUT really showed me something and that is the WILL AND DESIRE of ALLAH. In one sec., 50million people were left helpless and very much parlayzed. I was watching the reactions of people at the stores trying to 'STOCK UP' and I wondered, the first think that they thought about was trying to maintain the same lifestyle of HORRIDYING FOOD & ENERGY that has brought them to this situation. Yes, the people where Selfish b/c they were horridying things like water, ice and batteries!!! I remember a hadith wherein the diff. btwn a mumin and a kafir where being discussed and a diff. btwn them is that when a Mumin Sins, he remembers Allah and asks for forgiveness. They ayats of Allah are always clearer to the Believing Men and Women vs. the Non-Believers. Situations like this should always make you appreciate life and what you have. Saax? Seeing the long traffic jams and streets jammed packed with people walking for miles reminded me of the Qiyamah and how Allah can destroy this world JUST LIKE THAT. As Allah says in Sura Yasin, He just commands and says unto a thing BE and it shall BE. This last reflection was really scary cause come to think of, none of us know when the Qiyamah is and you know there are many signs of it and we just don't have some indicater saying 'Ok, thats the Dajjal, Mahdi and Nabi Issa' so lets get ready for the Qiymah now. Saax? One thing though that I am confident is that People will forget sooner than you know and return to their 'NORMAL LIFE'. Saying this I remember the story of Musa (s.a.w.) and the Bani Israel. When Musa left them for a while, the Bani Israel went back to their old ways and started worhsipping the idol of a COW. By the way, Can you guess what question is all over the news-HOW MUCH WILL THE BLACKOUT AFFECT THE ECONOMY???

Nin-Yaaban, I didn't have in mind fathers in their 20's more like fathers who came to the West and are in their 40-65 age ranges. I've also heard the excuse well, people back in Hargeysa like Grandma, and the uncles need the money. I'm sure some of you have heard that one before.

Salaamz, I just wanted to know especially from the 'Dhaqaan Fanatic', and everyone knows who that person is, why Somali Fathers are joining the ranks of Afro-American Fathers in terms of Abondoning their kids and not paying child support. It seems from my experience, that the Old School 'Dhaqaan' Loving Somali Fathers think that its against their 'Dhaqaan' to show love to their kids and be their for them. Its like its Not manily to show love your kids. With respect to the Child Support concept, do Somali Fathers consider it to be Haram, a SIN, if they pay child support. Help me out here cause I need some clarification. Fi Amanallah

My morning routine during the workweek: -Pray Fajr and rush back to sleep -Set the Alarm clock and re-set it about 5 times before I actually wakeup-GOOD MORNING! I usually get up a few minutes before I'm suppose to leave, like 15min. (Nomads, anyone run this drill!) -Usually drink tea or milk and honey and toast. -Catch the bus and read my juz. -Get to work and Smile at ALL MY CO-WORKERS "Hey there Buddy, so you're headed to the cottage this weekend" lollll Any Nomad have a Morning Routine? Don't be afraid to share?

Salaamz, Mz. Unique, walaal maybe you should re-post this using an 'english title' b/c most people will just ignore it, like I did. In anycase, thank you for the email that your forwarded to the NOMADS. It really shows me that my view on how to approach the marriage situation is alhamdulillah correct but since we live in a western society where in we are imbued (overwhelmed) with western values, the Islamic Pattern of marriage selection is near impossible (according to my experience) b/c the muslims that live here in the West, have the same mentality that is mentioned in your article. Why it took me a while, for me personally to challenge and fight my nafs, to inshallah come to appreciate the different set of values. I have been laughed and mocked at, when I tell other somalis that inshallah, the Islamic Pattern for marriage selection doesn't include DATING, or that 'FINDING YOUR RIGHT MATE'Mentality. Sistahs that I have encountered down here, no matter how much ISLAM is their way of life, want to 'DATE' a brother before they get married to him and analyze a brother down to his toenails. This is why as time goes by, I think that somali brothers who go to the east to get married are doingthe RIGHT thing and definitely HALAL. Fi Amanallah

Salaamz, Take an easy undergrad. program b/c no one really looks into you undergrad. People are checking out for post-grad. degrees now. This is my advice to any nomad. I have a friend who is a lawyer and he took Islamic Studies for an Undergrad. No one remembers that undergrad. now. A Masters holds much more weight now,and solidifies a career. The down side of it is that you end up paying $100,000 OR MORE for tuition but your starting wage will be around $50,000. Fi Amanallah

Salaamz, $4 mill for a ring is definite DAMAGE CONTROL cause if she leaves him, she could end with with much more than that.

"An adict, never cares about the price nor the Tax, Demand is inelastic" Flashback to Economics, OG Moti, don't scare people off now. Anyhow, MMA what you got at our cafe besides 'crapuchino'? For the SOL Cafe, we need to get Fouzia up in here. She's the one always asking about Cafes. If we want to do well, we better keep it open till the late morning cause you know us nomads can't stop a good convo. at closing time. OG Moti, Awoowo is easy to bring but ayeeya is another thing. So watch out, we might come through. and one more thing; if I see a BBW lady at your cafe OG Moti, can you help me out and lend a brother a pick up line or two

Salaamz, Nice to see you back on SOL Sujui. I wanted to enter a 5k run this summer (to be on the safe side, I wanted to start at 5k and on a warm summer day) but unfortunately, due to an injury, I have not been able to accomplish this. One thing that I keep thinking about doing is a new way to make a quick buck. Anyone nomad wanna buy a video camera? (I'll pay for Shipping and Handling ) On the real though, right about now I would like to be at some cabin near the Ocean at Vancouver Island, WestCoast Canada or Masji an-Nabiwai since around this time of the yr, I would probably (inshallah!) be able to get close to the prophet's grave (Salallahu caliyhe wasalim). SINCE SEEING YOUR FACE I swear, since seeing Your face, the whole world is fraud and fantasy The garden is bewildered as to what is leaf or blossom. The distracted birds can't distinguish the birdseed from the snare. A house of love with no limits, a presence more beautiful than venus or the moon, a beauty whose image fills the mirror of the heart.

The intellectual is always showing off, the lover is always getting lost. The intellectual runs away. afraid of drowning; the whole business of love is to drown in the sea. Intellectuals plan their repose; lovers are ashamed to rest. The lover is always alone. even surrounded by people; like water and oil, he remains apart. The man who goes to the trouble of giving advice to a lover get nothing. He's mocked by passion. Love is like musk. It attracts attention. Love is a tree, and the lovers are its shade.
-
I have been tricked by flying too close to what I thought I loved. Now the candleflame is out, the wine spilled, and the lovers have withdrawn somewhere beyond my squinting. The amount I thought I'd won, I've lost. My prayers becomes bitter and all about blindness. How wonderful it was to be for a while with those who surrender. Others only turn their faces on way, then another, like pigeon in flight. I have known pigeons who fly in a nowhere, and birds that eat grainlessness, and tailor who sew beautiful clothes by tearing them to pieces.

Salaamz, Marriage isn't a joke and neither is it something to rush into when you are young. By Barwaaqo Interesting? You know if you go over to the otherside of the world, in muslim dominated lands you would get a difference response. I don't think that they would say 'No, you're too young to get married now' Why would have a different view then what most predominates in the pyschi and mentality of Western people and in this case, Somali Women who are located in the West? Whats funny in all your responses with the exception on sister and she doesn't live in the West (thus reflecting her response), is that most of you have adviced Balsam to hold off and wait and even try to wait until 30. I don't know how old are some of you, but if you just sit down and reflect , Balsam is in a situation that many of you are headed towards and Alhamdulillah, reality is striking her and she is admitting to things that maybe she would have not admitted a fews yrs ago. Correct me if I am wrong, Balsam. In anycase, If you put your Dunya before your Akhera then you will lose out on the Akhera and vice versa. Seems like Education and more Education then a CAREER, is what is a priority to some of you. If only you would open your eyes, If only you would open your eyes and see what Allah is showing you through other people that are older then you. Fi Amanallah
