Another quality topic a la e-Nuri style! Where else does one find such esteemed nomad with such nomadic attitude other than in the home of true Nomads - SOL. Nomad by birth and Muslim by religion...can make one too independent so much so one would be tempted to take on complicated topics like this one head on. Simplicity, relevance, and originality is what makes your articles very unique. The "silent majority" as another esteemed nomad put it, are counting on you in reading your Ramadan "out of box" articles. General section where the traffic is tense and nomads are vocal is a fitting forum to post your thoughts bro Nur.

As Salaxuddiin put it, consider this post and many other ones burried somewhere in SOL as Baashi's "youthful indiscretions" By the way J.D.M.J. stands for "Just Doing My Job".
-
MMA, fadlan igu salaan my former classmate. Plz do Gediid You are not the only one who have enquired about my age. Many folks in SOL have been fascinated by my "youthful indescretions" I have always tried to give them ample opportunities to guess and get it right for once. This lil slip was not an accident saaxiib As to me failing to not mention the name of the old/young emerging republic of Somaliland, that was unintentional. Kacaanka exhortations had left unerasable print in the old generations psychic. We have been around when things were the way they supposed to be and back then as many of us remembered that corner of the land had a name.

I second that; what a despicable rubbish! Ayaan has been given a platform, a voice, and an unparalleled exposure. I suppose the other side can do the same and produce a documentary of their own and show the real story about the issue. It doesn't hurt a bit. But I doubt they would got the same attention and exposure. There is no leveling in the plain field on this issue Suldaan. By accident, I stumbled this article on the site you posted (English version). What's the matter with Manji. They do give the other side some voice after all. Whoever wrote this piece took this opp and refuted Manji. Effective? I don't know. But I guess it is a step forward.

Eesh calaa caqli. Raxmah or for that matter nomads has anyone of you ever read a book by the name of "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie? Well it is one of the classics full of practical wisdom. What ethics is all about as I understand it is doing what is right consistently according not to your whims but to well grounded and sound principles gleaned from higher source mostly religious in nature. Some say virtue, for istance, is inborn and hence is fidhra. Others argue that it is the result of cumulitive knowledge derived from humanity's total sum experiences. However one looks at this one would notice that the underlying factor of ethical conduct is the quest to perfect that which is right and what is good in human interactions.

SB, Question: one of the basic assumption of Biology regarding to the origins of life is that the whole thing started as an accident. No? In the beginning there was no plan no design nothing, Darwinists say. The tale as I called is that Big Bang happaned, elements, essential elemnts, in a chain reaction formed molecules and all this happened by chance. From there the single cell formed again by accident OR by chance. The cell evolved over time. Formation of mulitcell organism followed, complex biological processes take shape by accident and so on untill sophisticated organs appeared by chance. Is this familiar or my axyaa and the tadhawur I was taught in high school is worthless?

I agree. Good call Mutakalim. Not to tell them what to do but it is about time. The heat is getting to some of the nomads and if the Moderators heed Mutakalim's call they will be doing service to many good nomads, to themselves, and to SOL forum.

Good one. Many thanks Xiin for the post.

^It has been the tradition of the competent lawyers to start hitting on the grounding doing all that is required to uncover the relevant details of the person who opted to invoke the 5th. You are not on trial nor are you on suspicion of anything worth investigating. You are asked these questions because you are merely a star witness of discussing an issue of great importance to us and your cooperation might be helpful to shed light on the psyche of those who sympathize with the liberal-inclined Muslims who wish to have their cake and eat it too. Since you chikened away and opt to guard your privacy (unnecessarily for no one has a stomach for that kinda discussion), the manly man has no recourse but to retire and wait when an interesting issues like this come up again.

Viking, you have a point wallahi. It may enrage our friend Ngonge but that is the truth. Originally posted by NGONGE: You see, Baashe , here we HAVE what one would call a disagreement (memorise this scene lest you forget what a disagreement looks like). I wouldn't be too sure though that you're calling a ' spade ' by its correct name, saaxib. Previous experience tells me that you mistook it for a bulldozer on several occasions. Still, since we’ve regressed to the schoolboy level of discussion. Baashe, o fair headmaster, in my defence, let me tell you that the ‘ ball ’ was mine to begin with. Surely you’re not saying I left the ball where it was and instead had a lung at Viking? Baashe, saaxib, I have total respect for you but I wish you would not patronise me with all this family and contribution talk. Sometimes, contributions do not meet with people’s approval. That’s to be expected, however, when such contributions are tackled with childish arguments and bad comprehension, I too believe in calling a spade, a spade . My spades are the real garden type (picture provided upon request). I said it before and I’ll say it again, play ball dammit. PS Don't worry yourself about Viking. He's unlikely to provide me with any worthwhile discussion anytime soon. That tiff is over. Very well Ngonge, I am not sure where you are going with "play ball dammit" thing. FYI my skills in the game have won me numero 9, 6, and 2 positions all combined in the past. If I can find someone who knows how to play a ball with all rules of engagement intact and respected, I would gladly be willing to play the game and make sure I win fair and square. As to the patronizing issue, may I remind you to read your posts and grant the some favors to others before you make request. Surely, you do understand these kind of requests are effective when all sides are willing to do their part. Nevertheless, you will find me understanding and accomadating if it is mutual. Spade is a spade no matter who examines it saaxiib. The trouble is that you seem to be taking the attitude that insulting people by questioning their level of intelligence is your way of calling spade a spade. There is line we don't want to cross. If you insist that your refernces of school boys, kindergarden, children, etc to address the folks who you somehow don't see eye to eye on some issues is your way of calling spade a spade, they (some of them) too will resort to that kind "play ball" game and take it to somewhere you don't wanna go I'm sure. Respect is mutual saaxiib.

^ It's all in your heads Castro! No one tapped no one. Perhaps the tapping is something familiar to Fidel-loving Hispanics All principle-centered folks caught unguarded by the Makhnuud is OK cheerleaders. I gotta tell you Castro you are doing one helluva job saaxiib. Unlike Sage Ngonge who uncharacteristically lost his well known composure, you have put up a hek of fight. Viking and Ngonge tone it down friends especially Ngonge. You are one of the best contributors of SOL and it won't help te family to see you two keep this is la tirsi. I don't shy away to call spade a spade and the look of it, Ngonge is at fault here and he has been tackling the player instead of the ball quite sometimes now. Drop it saaxiib. Raggu waa shaah waana cadays - the treat is on me.

Reform is a fork in the road. It separates those who have held their bets with their faith and will live watching their stock in the afterlife rise from those who have bet the afterlife is just after with no life and will reform Islam to remove the nuisance it has become in their lives. Ain't that true! So what you make of the point that the 'silenty majority' are being influenced by the ones who have, for all practical purposses, renounced their religion and would want to reconcile the tolerant liberal views that do see divine revelation as being "nuisance" and religion that prides itself as way of life and won't give an inch away? How do you suppose the "silent majority" (millions scattered all over with no unifying leadership to date) go about in accomodating to those who have been empowered and given exposure to preach to the target group that they should take the necessary steps in order to integrate to secular pluralistic society? What have Castro done so far about the problem personally? Or still better question would be where does Castro fall on the spectrum: a)you admire for how sound and rational the exhortations of hypocrites are, b)you are indecisive and helpless member of the silent majority, c)you are practicing muslim described as being "beard-stroking", "hijab-adjusters" (bal goormaa sunnadii cilad laga dhigay) ignorant semi-mullahs or d) wishy-washy outsider (still Muslim) standing at the sidelines observing the events as they unfold as if they don't matter to him at all? It's no surprise to me that you have renounced "Reform" at once Bravo!

Great job yaa Mutakalim. If you try hard enough sometimes you can minimize the bookishness and make reasonable contribution to a topic without being so condenscending. Still there are room for improvement. Many thanks for cutting the crab or the tookh to tolerable levels

^^^ There is no point, saaxib. When it comes to serious debates, I want to debate with like-minded people. People that I would learn from or those that would help me to see things from a different angle. Those that I believe to be of a lesser level of understanding, knowledge or comprehension I needn't waste my time ‘educating’. Experience tells me that this is a thankless task and that people with the blinkers fully switched on are never likely to ‘learn’. Just what I suspected all along! I think you are on the right track. Don't waste your time with people of a lesser cognitive abilities which I'm sure are hard to find anyway! I too would probably have reached the same conclusion had I find myself in the same situation. If you could only listened to yourself...you would probably have noticed that your absorbing posts are beyond comprehension . Never have I thought that you would stoop this level of arrogance! Xataa calla Haamaan yaa Fircoon In the final analysis, this topic and the tone of it will speak for itself. You would think that it is common courtesy to refrain from this kind of gutless tactics. Oh! how was my assumptions were wrong! I actually thought that you can easily convince nomads that what you are advancing are right, easy, and common sensical; that the fact that Rusdie, Manji's enlighteneded, sound, reasonable, and rational argument is admirable and at the sometime wrong. The fact that this is not happening is very telling saaxiib. I wanted to monitor the thread and make sure that you are being challenged enough that you would be forced to spill all the wisdom you never cease to showcase. Allas! Hanaan gobonimo iyo halkaan, hadiyad eegaayey; Haf miyaad la tidhi xeyr sidaad haan ku dhayaneeyso- Yaa ka dhacday!
