It's a good one. You said don't glorify nor praise nor excuse the balsphemous ones who shoot from their mouth as if...I understand that you didn't say nor even implied anything about slaying. Shukran again. Oh! I know how that come about, I guess Caano, u didn't miss the sarcasm, did u?
  2. Darn you Mutakalim Ever since he approved Johnny's philiosophical renditions SOL has never been the same. Now we have to put up with Johnny's excellent and coherent philosophical enquiries and his logical statements riddled with "ifs", "thens", and "elses". It's no accident that when enlightened Johnny boy comes into the forums, every Geeljirre and their so called lynch mob stays clear of him There is no match. Man! my man Johnny here comes my high five

    Ramadan (Q A)

^Excellent question. The enlightened among us will hopefully educate us on this one. I'm very interested to know the answer on this one. Question on Mortgage interest. As you know bro Nur there is a morgage interest which is haram. I have a cousin who has a house through mortgage. The house is almost paid. He wanted to buy a share of startup business. He later revealed that his contribution are from proceedings of that house which he sold and made about X% profit. He bought another one and used the profit toward this startup business. My brother (organizer) does not want to have anything to do with this questionable investment. When asked about this my cousin simply said that it is completely halal. He wnet on and explained how that is the case. He said the tax refund offsets the interest paid. He has the numbers on his said. In other words, the total interest paid (annually) to the bank is equal to the tax refund he recieved from uncle sam. Bal ka tali sxb.
  4. Rahima, never say never abaayo . You don't wanna be the second wifey...we hear you loud and clear However, that can change wallahi. Ahem! I have known to convince ladies who were dead against the idea. When the tiger showed up, he took their breath away. Waxu waa adduun. Caqliga maanta kugu jira berri wax badan baa iska kaa beddeli kara. Naasir, you just don't know what u are getting urself into. My advice: find your soulmate first and wait five years before you make another move. It ain't easy to handle one family (with kids) let alone two. Remember it is illegal here in the states to have more than one wife. You can get arrested and charged with felony. Let say you have succeeded convincing your ladies to cooperate and cut you some slack. No jealousy. No drama. All is good and dandy. When and if Allah bless you with kids (from both wives) how you gonna jump all the hoops. Are u gonna disown ur own fleh and blood or are you gonna set urself up with prosecution. Of course this has nothing to do with ur right to have more than one wife. U do have that right and nothing is wrong exercizing ur rights. But there are practical problems that you need to consider. The other option is to go to Islamic country where these legal obstacles are not an issue.

Ducaale, maxaan daadihinaa saaxiibkeey magac wanaagsane waa iga mashquulay oo riziq burris uu aadaye. Ducaqabe addiga siyaasada see u aragtaa awoowe?
  6. ^That makes two of us. I hope that day comes soon. Speaking of tourism, my plans are simple. Just wanna camp inside Yellow Stones park. My kids love to see (if u can believe it) stars. Just about 7 nights ago, I've waited till 11pm for them to catch a glimpse of the full moon in a cloudless night sky. The junior couldn't be happier! Mecca is def in the list.
  7. C'mon Sky. U don't wanna do that pal. Suldaan, My man I don't wanna ruin this informative thread. This event is a huge step for Somalis. I honestly welcome it. I am not fan for the secession and anything I say about Somaliland should be understood within that context. As to the areas under Puntland, that's self evident to impartial observers. You too know very well what the actualities on the ground are. Perhaps many readers would ask what's wrong having openly contested political offices in these areas! Nothing, really. There is bigger stake in play here. There are Somalis who are for secession and other Somalis who are against dismembering the country. Somaliland authorities are for it and if elections succeed in all areas they claim the International observers would be hard pressed to not consider recognition status these Somalis are asking for. Puntland is challenging the International audiences to consider to dismember Somaliland itself when and if they decide to dismember Somalia. As a recovery zone with all the trappings of a state, Puntland claims these areas as part of its territory. Since there is no effective Somali state, Puntland forces the world bodies to see the former British colony as a contested territory between two recovery zones. This is how the game is being played. In the coming days we will see two different reportings from these regions. One will try to paint the picture that parts of SL have taken part in the elections. The other side will dismiss and paint totally different pictures. At the end of the day, Elections observers will call as it is just like they did last election. Will see how this one plays out though.
  8. ^ Suldaan today we are all in a festive mood. Elections are held there in a peaceful manner. That's good. Puntland made a point about who is in charge of where. That's good too for it makes easier for the powers we are all kissing their behind to render a judgement on this question. Before the recognition is granted the question is: Is Somaliland itself divisible? if yes (and why elections were not held in the SSC regions drive this point to home) how one go about the border demarcation? This very election reinforces the "Puntland problem" David Shinn has talked about before. This is a victory for the unionists if u can swallow that. For the secession sympathizers (international lobby) have no leeway to ignore Puntland's claim over the SSC regions. Wind, whatever.
  9. This is a good news. No irregularities. No violence. Ambitious men allowing their people to decide who among them is worth the shot. It can't get better than that. Hopefully this won't lead to the dismemberment of the country. As of now SL is two steps ahead of Puntland (governance wise) and 20 steps ahead of the rest of the country. This is a victory for the folks in that neck of the wood. Hambalyo.

  15. ^ With nice kub and dib one can make heads turn foxy . When nice looking chicks put that on...it is mouth-watering and womenizers know how to reward chicks who show off their goodies in a such manner...compliments. The only setback is when one gets her grooves goin in a such stylish fashion she's ignoring Allah's directives. That's all... Aerowen, I know. Stoic, with all due respect u r not making any sense bro. Shez, Caano, and LZ...kix kix kax ...I'm laughing too
  16. Aaaaaaaaaaah! I just reread the exchanges. Many good points have been made by the ladies. 1. Don't judge others' iman (personal). True and agreed. The other side of the coin is one can comment on the prevailing attitudes of one segment of the society and make conclusions about one's observations (general). 2. Beware the apperances, they can be decieving. Like the old adage said, don't judge a book by it's cover. I have known someone (Muhajabah) who in her dealings and how she carried herself makes u wonder, for instance, say when away from where Somalis often frequent turns 180 degree (like french kiss in movie theater). Again true and agreed. But there is also an other side which is that in most part those who deeply want to follow religious dictates even though the environment they are in are not conducive and welcoming these folks have something deep in their soul that compels them to carry themselves that way. 3. Careful how you preach. The old line of anshaxa of daaci wa dacwah. Tell it as it is but always be fair and see things from as many perspectives as you can. Again true and agreed. These are indeed good points and I don't think they are lost on me and other like-minded fellaz. That being said, I can't emphasize enough about the importance of giving others the benefit of the doubt. One of the lessons learned (hopefully) would be that social commentary is fair game. You might not like it. Nevertheless, others have the right to make observations on and about their community and share their take with us. Dismiss if u must but don't u accuse it's author and call names unless you canm substantiate and pen a reasonable objection. All in all, it was good sport and I hope we are all shax shax with it and if any1 of you got offended by my posts know that I don't come here in the middle of my workload to offend folks. Having said, I value Islam very much and I reserve the right to pen strong opinion and back it up in the most civil way that I know. Waa siday tahay dee

Welcome back Alle-u-Baahane. Long time no see widaay
  18. Alxamdu Lilaah. It's an other day in paradise for me wallahi. What better reminder could one ask for than this one. Indeed Gaajada iyo fakhrigu waa cadaw Ilaah nooga gargaaray. Abject poverty can drive some to this level of desperation. Allah yarxama the child and may Allah help this widow and provide her the basic amenities she's so in need of. Ramadan is around the corner and Insha'Allah will take advantage of it.
  19. Come again Aerowen. Do you have problem with the fact that Engineering students have noticed the existence of thre distinct dress attires among the Muslim women population at the U? Or you have problem with the point that asserts that how we dress and how we carry ourselves and our value system are somewhat related? I can cite couple of relevant examples that can nail this point on the wall... On an other note, isn't true that the cririticism on the piece stems mainly from what it had not said than what it have commented on? How about this and that kinda approach thing right! Observing fashion trends and commenting on them is a far cry from women bashing charge methinks! I can assure you if we are to use this level of nitpicking and spinning, as a standard, on any topic, none will survive from the scrutiny and the original message will always be lost on the crowd... Btw my reference of feminism has to do with this fake advocacy presumembly for women's plight in defending against the unsubstantiated labelling sexists like Nur are propagating...as always is the case these sort of fake defenders chase shadows of their imagination. Islaantu been-boodka iyo cidla isku qaadka yey aad u taqaan.
  20. Very interesting read! Buurya-qab yaa fowqal buurya-qab
  21. ^Not true. As usual we're good at twisting things and putting spin on it. It was nothing but simple straightforward observation until feminism spin and gender politics were introduced to the thread. Caano saaxiib fahamkaagu ninyahaw annigu wax ka sheegi mayo. Sida ay iila muuqato dooda aan meesha ku heynaa waxay salku ku heysaa hal qodob: dhaqanka qofka iyo siduu u mucaamilo iyo waxa uu aaminsan yahay xiriir ma ka dhaxeeyaa? Hadaad jawaab ka bixiso way fiicnaan lahayd oo dooduba madax iyo minjo la yaqaan bay yeelan lahayd!
  22. This lousy analysis (qouting in verbatum and explaining the obvious) won't cut it amico. Perhaps you have an issue with the correlation between believing in something deeply and ignoring what this believing system exhorts you to do! Am I right Caano? Are you objecting bro Nur's message (Ignoring or taking lightly the divine directives is indicative of deep unrest in the inner compartments of one's soul and has something to do with one's iman) or are you having issues with the way he has conveyed the message. Clearly you don't have a reasonable objection that one can weigh in here.
  23. ^Bingo Declaring and stagging a dramatic exit is so unecessary, don't u agree Athena. PMS? look at you missy I won't complain though LF, I see you dodged the question It's all good though. Let's call it a day oki doki fellaz.
