  1. This is a hypothetical situation buddy. It is not as black and white as many would have us to believe.
  2. This thread and its posters alone says a lot of the screen characters behind the box. I mean look at us! Do u see a thinly vieled gloating over Nur's setbacks on the FGM topic. I see some folks who can barely conceal their gloating over e-Nuri's failure to quickly retract that opinion. As Rahima said it takes a big man to publicly admit a mistake. Bravo Nur. This is the way to go bro. I expected nothing less from you. To the folks who are still protesting after the fact and after Nur acknowledged his shortcomings in opining the way he opined on FGM issue, I say let it go plz.
  3. ^ Even if she is so inviting so provacative and showers u with kisses going all over u half-naked in the privacy of her room making u all worked up and aroused ...but last minute when going gets lovely and Castro reaches the point of no return she makes a u-turn and says NO PLZ STOP! In this situation, r u claiming that u would not be a human? Disclaimer: I'm not in any way or form condoning rape or making exceptions. I understand NO means NO as they advertise it in college dorms.
  4. Looking forward to read about how-to topics like how to tame Geel Jire tigers roaming in SOL jungle. It should be very interesting rendition of e-Nuri Soft-Socio-Skills.
  5. Being "Xabadi keentay" must be CEEB thang...I'm sure. Source plz haaruun...if u don't mind.

Horeey! Seeker has good points there. However, I have a hunch that editors would object this kind of call. Your segment can be classified as grievances involving moderators (volunteers by the way) and to streych it a bit taking sides on nonexistent dispute. If you could limit your I believe to the value you place on moderation or ur experience in cyber foruming or even to freedom of speech that would be great. As it is ur piece is full of grievances with particular forum and how it's managed. The section I had in mind (I can't speak for Libaax) is not about a place where disgruntled nomads file their complaints against whoever. Again nomads keep focusing. Brown that's a good suggestion. Fellaz no hard feeling aight. This is simply a cyber forum and I hope you all see it as such. Will meet again after the weekend IA.

^U missed a lot. With as little as $100.00, you can read all the original exchanges in their entirety. Gossip mag has all the inside scoop...interested? I second Lion-Teaser Jr. Focus! How about the name of this section! Any suggestions? This I believe cannot be used for obvious reasons. What you guys think: In their own words... or I believe in... Well It would be interesting to have Castro deliver the first I believe in piece when the section makes its debut. I'm thinking about I believe in SOL ...that would be a fitting tribute to the forum! Castro awoowe can we count on you on this one

Calm down fellaz will ya plz. You don't have to call in if you don't have anything worthwile to say. Once you open your lips and utter This I believe phrase, a conviction of sort, firm and unshakeable opinion, or deep held belief or/and something along those line should follow. The catch is you have two minutes to make your case. I don't know about you but I find this kind of verbal essays very challenging. Not only one has to be coherant and articulate but also one has to be credible and convincing. On the other side of the coin the site could serve as depositary of opinions and beliefs in cross section Somali Diaspora community. My hunch is the moderator will have a good sense of judgment and he or she will see to it that those who blabber or utter unintelligable, incoherant verbal essays won't make to the display section. I'm sure some nomad out there has something to say about life in America and other democracies. I guess Femma's experience in the transit system and why that is the case can be a good subject. What's your take on employment, race relations, gender politics, language barrier, ethnic values and heritage such as ours, second generation Somali refugees, melting pot...your genuine views on these issues in your own words is a novel idea that adds value to foruming experience. Likewise if you understand value of public speaking this can serve as a training ground. Mutakalim although arrogant and out of touch in the real world where plain English is preferred mode of communication, despite his unreasonable and unjustified haughtiness he often dispalys on this screen, inspite all of that still he can have a shot at the mic in This I believe setting. Imagine Mutakalim's segment were he to deliver I believe in haughtiness and being arrogant piece . After two minutes it would be interesting if he can show the audiences the practical benefits of being haughtiness in real world. If he has what it takes to persuade enough people to buy into that kind of reasoning, he then deserve respect for he has the acumen to influence people - a leadership character. To pull it off you see it will depend on how sincere he is in believing such rubbish. If he is out to impress others then he won't come across as credible as he would like to be On the female's voice being haram. I don't know about that. I've learned long ago not to go against religious dictates. I admit my ignorance in the sharia. However, I believe in Islam and if I'm adviced to stay away from something that is not admissible I like to oblige and in most cases I do just that. Sometimes I come short and find myself carried away. For instance, I have a weakness in listening music. I don't go out my way to justify my actions amd make it look like it is admissible. My point is you are better off to admit your mistakes instead of finding a way to justify them. I think it's qasaawatul qalbi kinda like eclipse of the heart that I'm suffering. In any event, I don't think female's voice is haram if that was the case I'm in a big trouble for half of my co-workers are females. Not to mention TV personalities that I watch to get informed and grocery cashiers, bank clerks, etc that I have conversed and still converse with in daily basis. Waxaan uga horay intentions and indeed there is hadith that emphasizes the importance of intentions that goes "inama acmaal bi niyaat wa inna likumri'i maa nawaa.."
  11. Time to let it go friends. Don't confuse yourself and others. The debate between Intelligent Design and Darwinism will go on. One side will always insist on that there is a Super Being, whatever you conceive him to be, that caused the universe to come to being. The other side will keep admitting the fact that they don't know how, why, and who caused this universe to come to being but nevertheless they will insist on that they have evidence of how old this planet earth is and how life has evolved. I could be mistaken but my understanding is that Darwinist implicitly unsuccessfully refute the idea that Super Omniscient God having hand in the design and creation of living organism. In essence, it boils down to whether Darwinists can furnish evidence that refutes Intelligent Design theory. From where I stand, and I don't pretend to be scientists, all the Darwinists have came up so far is turning tables to Intelligent Design proponents and demand evidence that supports Great God being the first cause. By now the respondents to this thread have done little googling here and there, I hope, to at least have an idea the difference between Creationism (based on biblical beliefs) and Intelligent Design. Intelligent Design proponents are scientists and they undercut Darwinist claims in two ways. First they challenge fossil evidences and the "gaps" of the so-called fossil chain. Secondly they ride on biochemistry and genetics in order to refute the Darwinists key and critical assertions. They do all this all the while they embrace the diversity of life and its evolving nature. This is very interesting debate for the inquisitive minds. Questioning Darwinism is not tantamount to questioning science. This simple fact should sink in and from what I've read from your post you confusing these two issues here. Finally understanding scientific method and what it entails is crucial to get into this sort of debates. Every scientific question has its origins in a simple observation. Sometimes the researcher brings his/her own baggage to the lab focusing on or looking for specific results. Sometimes validating a hypothesis don't lend themselves into known methods and techniques. The latter is very common and most learned fellaz strive to get to the bottom of it by keep looking, examining, and what not. The question of the origin of life is one of these difficult questions that folks have pondering throughout the ages. Darwin's theory is a starting point. But one must understand at the time of its conception it was merely an observation on the variety of life and plausible explanation of why that is the case. Today after century of scientific knowledge many have questioned the validity of Darwin's hypothesis. I hope you guys are open to listen and examine claims and evidences the challengers are bringing on to the table. There are couple of good books on the subject. I can certify that the authors have challenged me to reexamine what I learned in my axyaa. Read the "righ"t material (from both sides of any subject) for more you read more knowledgeable you become. At least your horizons will widen lil bit more. This post will not be complete if I don't share my newly found hobby. This I believe radio program. It is from NPR one of my fav radio stations (US). I was browsing the archives and I stumbled on one of my fav public figures in America. This guy is extremely intelligent as well as an influencial thinker. I happen to disagree with him on most of critical subjects of the age nevertheless I respect for his ability to articulate what he believes in eloquently. In general I like principled folks. This guy is a helluva principled man. Any how, he called in and shared his This I believe piece with the listening public. It just so happen that he addressed Belief in God somehow a related subject to this thread. This is the reason I came back and file my last post. There u go Eilliam F. Buckley, Jr. on "How is it possible to believe in God?"
  12. Same here. Will pray for his immediate release Bi'idniLaah. Wordette keep us posted for any new development.
  13. This is a good one Xiin. This does not surprise me a bit. It's how democracy works. Neocons are within their rights to advocate for their values and believes. Blame it on voter ignorance and the rise and power of interest groups.

^ I won't subject my screeching voice and my heavy accent to the decent SOlers. Bishaaro I take my prev post back..u hear qallanjo...ain't kidding Horeeeeeeeeey! Lion Teaser Jr is the man. How neat! This is awesome. Take it from me Libaax SOL wil become a media power house. This feature is a just a warm up exercise for radio program for Diaspora (young English speaking) consumption...u will see sxb. Go for it buddy...make it happen.

^Howdy howdy Xiin . Bring them on amigo I'm sure SOLers will be delighted to hear what you have to say about all these issues in ur own words. They might disagree with ur take on some things but nevertheless they do understand that u are ur own person and have ur own views on these things. Yeah believe it or not I'm a fan for all the folks who have strong opinions so long they understand that diversity in opinion is a good thing and without it this forum would have been a dull place to be. Now having strong opinion alone won't cut it u see. One must have the ability to articulate one's take on the issue at hand and reason his way through the whole thing persuading opponents along the way. Speaking of articulating one's believes, This I believe segment have pple, plenty of them actually, that try very hard to voice their believes in well wahtever. I tell ya this wobbly wishy washy fella won my attention for a few minutes. However wrong he is very able man and has the potential to be persuaded if another equally able man reasons with him. Yeah! Castro bring them on and u will find me attentive and curious throughout the presentation...
  16. Totally inaccurate Now, what basket does Bishaaro belong to? Hmmmm...aha I got her all figured out . I put Bishaaro in the Phlegmatic basket. This assessment is supported by Bishaaro's public thoughts on wide variety of issues ranging from ahem personalities and human nature to social issues.

U have a point there. My "This I believe" piece is on the way Bishaaro but fisrt some1 preferably Admin. has to agree with adding audioblog site to SOL forum. U see Nur or someone in that caliber (religious knowledge and the will to share that knowledge with others) can make use of this blog feature, don't you agree? It's all good runtii. As to ur thread I haven't seen it before today but yeah this thread looks like a repeat. As to my boy Castro's Atheer line, why would that bother u if I may ask? Ahem! I have a hunch that my use of awoowe would be next.

  20. Yesterday on my way home, from work, I was listening to my fav radio station... I had to stop by at the grocery store plus the commute was unusually bad, because of that I spent more time listening to NPR than I usually do. It was a long traffic jam bumper to bumper kinda deal. All things Considered the program was on and boom all of the sudden This I believe segment came on. What's unusual about this is I've been listening to this program for quite sometime now and I have never heard this part of the program. As you can imagine I was surprised to find out that I've been missing an interesting and quite frankly authentic content programming. I really liked this one and I thought I share it with y'all. It would be interesting move to have similar thing where SOLers do their two minutes This I believe kinda thing. It's doable ya know! Google has an audio blogging deal where it gives away free five minutes space to audio bloggers to record their experience in blog format. Plus it's very simple to use the feature cuz all u need to do is call a number (given) and say ur piece on the phone and that's about it...ur audio file gets recorded on ur blog site automatically! Cool right! If we expand that and use that feature to log our This I believe, for our purposes, that would be totally awesome I think. Just a thought aight! Check it out!

  24. Give it up for "Rageedii". My man talented Ngonge needs a receptive ear. I for one will be the best good listener there is. "Makiinada cajiinka ii raac", "hooyo buug aan ka soo qaadanaa", "wuu i sii dhaweynaayey", "iyo cashar uu i dhigaayay (when u r in a higher grade)...these were the days! It's amazing how easily they can come up with all sorts of credible justification in order to mask the real intention behind their true motives. Equally amazing is how two can cumminicate through eyes in the presence of the watchfull eye of siblings, classmates, parents, or teachers...no wonder Arabs have the saying axlul kalaam luqatul ciyuun Somethings will never change I guess. Boys will always be boys, girls who are coming out of age will always wonder what's it like to be with that boy, parents will always be possesive and protective of their lil girls. Times, customs, attitudes, and taboos may change but these things will never change.
