  1. So far so good. SB vs. "da" Man is a match we've been all waiting for Stick to the topic at hand and I don't have to tell you how we abhor the woblly, wishy-washy, nilly-willy, flip-floppers. I totally disagree with the lady. I thought to refute her on the merits of her main argument is a piece of cake for a man with the credentials of Bin Sultaan. Amelia has done a good job in digging the other side of the equation and for that I say many thanks. Still he comes short in my estimation. I would also like to remind both SB and "da" Man the value of having military basis in the most valuable real state in an age where energy security is top of the list of national security of the powers-that-be. la durr-duriya **waves back to BOB...**
  2. Will try my best Danyer . In SOL forum the bar is too low that any cantrabaqash will do
  3. ^dunno but that line of reasoning is very interesting to say the least Danyer c'mon buddy...what did you say...come again
  4. ** Shaah plz and room for cream for the first two cups (tall)...yeah! Grabs cup of popcorn.. ** Wafa is actually making a powerful statement defending Secular Humanism. Wonder why the scholar didn't refute the main point she was making. Oh well perhaps the tape is incomplete and that part where she got refuted is missing.
  5. Wlc hanuman, Yes there are all kinds of Somalis with different ethnic background. There are Bantus (pure Negros), Baajuunis, Persians, Indians, Bravenese, and Somalis (majority) who believe (some of them) that they have Arab blood in them. The truth (in my estimation) is Somalis are Negros with alien blood. Proximaty of other races such as Arabs and inter-continetal commerce between different races (Indians, Persians, and what not) have facilitated the inter-racial marriages. At the end of day you are an African (color and locality). However, there is no shame in embracing your heritage. Enjoy ur stay.
  6. The woman is Wafa Sultan, an Arab-American psychologist from Los Angeles. http://switch3.castup.net/cunet/gm.asp?ai=214&ar=1050wmv&ak=null
  7. ^ Look closely, he got a remote to control his robots I gotta tell ya Kuntuwaareey research lab is very advanced in the technology field and now your excellency have joined its ranks along with Rahima the place has a brighter future. My tone stays the same btw - cool, measured, and even agreeable at times with lil kaftan flavor . I'm the biggest fan of eNuri products and you know it. We should all support the brother for doing dacwa for the sake of Allah. SOL is lucky to have a nomad with a mission who uses its space and resources for a cause greater than his personal whims. Having said that, brother is no macsuum. He has his own opinion and preferrences and sometimes these find their way into topics he shares with us. We should give him the benefit of the doubt as well as feedback in a nice and a civil manner without questioning his motives. I don't know him personally but I respect him for what he does in SOL boards and the way he delivers the dacwa.
  8. ^ @ liin balbeemlo. U mean Pamela Hutchinson? What a lady! Hats off to her. Qaxootiis should send Pamela a gift card on 1st January every year as a token of appreciation to her hard work in Thika camp as well as JVA. The gift card should read in part: Mrs Hutchinson you helped me and my family migrate to a country where we can get a decent life: medical care, first class education, justice, employement, etc. And for that you will always be remembered. As to Otanga I visited few times but never actually lived in that rotten place. Widaay live and learn, live and learn.
  9. There you have it - the other side of the coin. Humility, creativity, and straight-talk style dacwa is what earns eNuri sizeable cyber followers. I'm glad that eNuri bends backward as far as the backbone can take in order to minimize the misunderstanding that comes with the territory. As one can see eNuri has caved in to the "popular demand" and rightly so I might add. After all the aim is to have a constructive dailogue with nomads about contemporary Islamic issues that Somalis confront in their daily struggles. Well done. As to the topic, I've always maintained that one wify and the kids she rears is enough headache (nicma yes but still) for those of us who call qurbo their home. Raising a family (the right way) in this age and time in qurbo is not your cup of tea. That alone is big enough a sacrifice. Take it from me folks...I should know. Any man who can handle more than one and the sametime meet his responsibilities dutifully and diligently is a hell of a man in my book. If he can walk the talk I for one encourage him to spread his wings over more than one mundul. God knows the shade his wings provides is needed in many many homes.

  16. This time around Iran is on the hot seat. Looks like DPG (Defence Planning Guidance...some plan eh!) has been implemented per verbatum, literally. --------------------------------- Source Excerpt: ..... In early 1992, as Powell and Cheney campaigned to win congressional support for their augmented Base Force plan, a new logic entered into their appeals. The United States, Powell told members of the House Armed Services Committee, required “sufficient power†to “deter any challenger from ever dreaming of challenging us on the world stage.†To emphasize the point, he cast the United States in the role of street thug. “I want to be the bully on the block,†he said, implanting in the mind of potential opponents that “there is no future in trying to challenge the armed forces of the United States.†As Powell and Cheney were making this new argument in their congressional rounds, Wolfowitz was busy expanding the concept and working to have it incorporated into U.S. policy. During the early months of 1992, Wolfowitz supervised the preparation of an internal Pentagon policy statement used to guide military officials in the preparation of their forces, budgets, and strategies. The classified document, known as the Defense Planning Guidance, depicted a world dominated by the United States, which would maintain its superpower status through a combination of positive guidance and overwhelming military might. The image was one of a heavily armed City on a Hill. The DPG stated that the “first objective†of U.S. defense strategy was “to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival.†Achieving this objective required that the United States “prevent any hostile power from dominating a region†of strategic significance. America's new mission would be to convince allies and enemies alike “that they need not aspire to a greater role or pursue a more aggressive posture to protect their legitimate interests.†Another new theme was the use of preemptive military force. The options, the DPG noted, ranged from taking preemptive military action to head off a nuclear, chemical, or biological attack to “punishing†or “threatening punishment of†aggressors “through a variety of means,†including strikes against weapons-manufacturing facilities. The DPG also envisioned maintaining a substantial U.S. nuclear arsenal while discouraging the development of nuclear programs in other countries. It depicted a “U.S.-led system of collective security†that implicitly precluded the need for rearmament of any kind by countries such as Germany and Japan. And it called for the “early introduction†of a global missile-defense system that would presumably render all missile-launched weapons, including those of the United States, obsolete. (The United States would, of course, remain the world's dominant military power on the strength of its other weapons systems.) … The story, in short, was dominance by way of unilateral action and military superiority. While coalitions—such as the one formed during the Gulf War—held “considerable promise for promoting collective action,†the draft DPG stated, the United States should expect future alliances to be “ad hoc assemblies, often not lasting beyond the crisis being confronted, and in many cases carrying only general agreement over the objectives to be accomplished.†It was essential to create “the sense that the world order is ultimately backed by the U.S.†and essential that America position itself “to act independently when collective action cannot be orchestrated†or in crisis situations requiring immediate action. “While the U.S. cannot become the world's ‘policeman,'†the document said, “we will retain the preeminent responsibility for addressing selectively those wrongs which threaten not only our interests, but those of our allies or friends.†Among the interests the draft indicated the United States would defend in this manner were “access to vital raw materials, primarily Persian Gulf oil, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles, [and] threats to U.S. citizens from terrorism.â€

  21. Originally posted by Xoogsade: Anyway, again, my objective of mentioning the poem was to point out that if somalis want to settle their disputes, history written for them and how their land was curved by men like Rudyard should be off the table as an argument. Bull's eye.
  22. Viking is right on one thing and that's the Islamic position on criminals. That being said, American criminal system is not prophet's vision of justice unless one is willing to stretch the issue beyond recognition. At issue is taking in a kid who, for instance, stabbed another kid and turn him a monster in few years time and release him back to the same neighborhood. I take issue with that. Is he wrong? yes Should he pay for his crime? Absolutely. Now the idea of punishing this kid by having him raped and converted to crack addict for what he has done is wrong. If the system can gaurantee that the justice is not only limited to the outside walls of prison but it is also served in prison then I'm all for it. I'm not willing in good conscience to turn my kid or any other Muslim kid to become a wify for a bigger stronger full of muscle group of criminals. Reform criminal justice system and make it a place where those who are doing time get justice. Not my kid. No way.
  23. I don't know, maybe the nomad above me is right, maybe I'm blinded by envy. It is ok Blessed you can call me by my first name And no don't take it personal. On a serious note abaayo there is nothing wrong with doing business in a decent and cleaner way and thinking big. That's the only way we can raise the bar in the biz sector. At the end of the day customers will be the judge and the jury. If they are not satisfied or for that matter the price is not realistic then this endeavor will fail and hopefully there will be lessons learned experience. I don't see the merits of criticizing a perfect legitimate and halal biz enterprise on grounds of being clean, efficient, expensive, bigger scale with nice amenities and what have you. I really didn't see that coming. As to helping Islaamo aka warato by becoming a customer not cuz the value of what they are selling but out of compassion well that's very nice and thoughtful of you, really. I will call that kinda gesture sadaqo. In biz however it's about fair trade where one expects quality product for his hard earned money. If islaamo have quality product then by all means customers will go there for shopping. This is a progress.
  24. No I didn't read this book. My opinion: there is a grain of truth in his take on the Somalis of yesteryears. Somalis of today are totally different breed. Somalis with self-confidence, high self-esteem, and lil foolish pride are getting extinct (spelling plz). The legacy of dictatorial regime, bitter, merciless, and cut-throat civil war that followed and still raging in some pockets of the country have left unmistakable scar on my people's psychic. They are angry, bitter, and have negative picture of themselves. They hate each other with passion, and are willing to betray their brethren. On the positive side. They are still generous. They still help their relative even when tough gets going. They still have faith in Islam. They still resist (somewhat) alien influences that's not compatible with Islamic values.
