  1. I don't think you have the noodles to engage in straight talk where every position is put on the hot seat without making the whole thing personal. Awoowe shido ka talis baad tahay. War taloow colka jooja oo miis rag leeyahay xaajada ku jeexjeexa hadaan iri maxaan dhimay?
  2. ^That's rich coming from you buddy. Are we having difficult time in seeing the similiraties between TFG and SNM. It is beyond me how one is Mujahid and the other is Munafiq. It jus doesn't add up sxb. My stand is crystal clear. I support the UIC's stated objectives: united Somalia under Sharia. I still support anyone who is inline with that platform. I objected their methods and their hasty war. I thought that was not a necessary! I still stand by that. I thought the how part of bringning about united, just, stable Somalia under Sharia was and is open for discussion. I guess you just have difficulty time in believing that certain dudes who hail from certain clans can take a position like that. I guess I understand why!! The current tragedy is the very reason I take the position I take. I concluded long time ago that clan-conflict is unwinnable as long there is foreign interference in the mix. I see genuine reconciliation meeting as the right forum to tacke the core Somali problems. It will be difficulty, it will require some pride-swallowing exercise, it will take away some the gains from certain players, it will put the TFG balls on the table, it will do away the need for foreign "peace-keeping", and it will need some sort of security gaurantees for the factions participating the forum. It won't solve all the problems at one go. But it will jump-start the process. This is very very difficult effort to undertake. That's nuetral. To some childish grown-up, taking that principled position is akin to Munafaq, **fill the blank for a creative name-calling one** and what have you. But you know better I guess. The TFG blunders are known facts. I pointed out their folly time and again. I asked the board to embrace the TFG's effort for reconciliation with conditions. It is there for all to read. People engage me in issues like Xiin is doing. I will concede if you have a point. I'm humble guy in that sense. Common! anyone????????? PS> Exclude caaqa Kaligii-Mulsim. PSS> ThePoint I like that. I will come back to that point later. Pi what's Xiin's jilib got to do with his views. Common dude! Inna Yussuf, Cadde, are leaders. They are public figures claiming authority in conducting civil service for the masses. Pi, Il Generale, and Xiin can all question, critisize, and even oppose these personalities regardless of their sub-sub-clan. Nothing wrong with that buddy. Wise up kidos.
  3. It's simple. No tax period! The Sheiks there are very generous to the white establishment in the west. They invest these companies and offer free leases (year, two year) in a world class office in Dubai. In biz world this is dream come true. If you look the other end of the spectrum, the employees (reverse brain drain), the companies that operate from middle east especially KSA, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and lately Oman dish out offers no sane person can refuse. I don't know what to amke of them. My friend from Leeds who has been working with me here in this project is going to Khalifa Port in Abu Dubai actually tomorrow. One week in Egland to go thru medical exams and off to Abu Dubai. His stay in Egland (he is from Leads) is all paid - in his home town...it's amazing!! He has lready booked a Jaguar or so he said! He will be staying in a hotel for two months with allowances. If you add the uplift and tax free status...that's a bundle I tell ya. Flip the coin and it's xarash!!! Same talent but from different nationality don't get the same offer. Why? Dunno. They must have their reasons I gues but it doesn't make much sense to me. Lacageey la la la lacageey, Ragga kala labeysaay, Liitaha gadhgaadhaay, Laqan hoos u celisaay, Dumar lahanshadoodaay, Lurkeedii habeenadan, Hurda ladiba waayee. Awoowe wallee meesha waa la isuggu iman haday sidaa ku sii socota. Northerner and Dabshid are of course well informed for they are on the ground but all other peeps who are eying there the best shot is to get transferred there. The advantages r you still work for your company, get paid in dollars, and take direction from your organaziation. The westerners some Arabs there worship will serve as a buffer between you and them. Still they are the client so there is no getting away from that fact but atleast you will have "job security" peace of mind. I went on tangent...oh well
  4. No xiin awoowe. I don't think you harbor any sinister motive against PL. How could you after all you are from there. No awoowe. We seem to disgaree few areas that's all. Opinions vary awoowe.
  5. Very well Xiin. Let's recap aight. I'm connecting the dots to see your overall coherant view of the situation. Here we go awoowe: The storm brewing in Benadir is not a civil war between two Somali factions! On the one hand it is indeed religious war since the shabaabs are part of the resistance. On the other hand, it's nationalistic war for goal of the insurgency is to drive foreign troops. Somalia is under occupation and as such guerrila war is a legit means for resistance. TFG is a disgrace. The whole enterprise not only lack legitimacy but they forced their way in and hence the idea of raping and romancing "her" - that is maandeeq- is a bit of well over the top. Despite of all these firm and unshakable stands you support the peace with conditions. Not only do you support negotiated settlement between the warring factions as the way forward but infact you think that's the only way to end the conflict peacefully. Moreover you seem to be suggesting that the Somali conflict and its latest tragic drama is beyond balck and white issue. To put it in these terms is too simplistic, you opined. In addition the sweeping generalization of classing the contestents as Muslims vs. Munafiqs is a stretch you thought. You want Ethiopians out. By what means you didn't say! By all means. What is the plan under what banner. All these details deserve its own topic. But for now let's straighten out few kinks! Am I on the money or corrections are in order buddy? Crystal clear? Super. You are not in league with Captain Xalane, Kashafa, and Ulle-U-Baahane. Their opinion is inline with that old line...Ha la dirriro dagaal waxan ahayn daawo lagu waa e! They have no moral qualms about the deaths the urban wars are known to exact. Nor are you in line with Rahima and Alle-U-Baahane (again waa issagii *smile*) who think this akin to Munaafiq (dabadhilifis, dorknobs, and what have you...clans who ally themeslves with that entity) vs. pious Muslims (nationalists, ICU remnants, the sub-clan whose loot it sat on for too long is no more). Moving on...another set of questions: But before that let me start with this outline for my questions are about this subject. Awoowe violence is sometimes useful tool!!!! Surprised? Yeah! I don't blink the fact that there comes times where people get so abusive that you have to take army against them. Having said that one has to weigh the advantages against disadvantages. Awoowe idle violence for the heck of it is terrible waste of energy and waste of moral value. If by killing one enemy soldier means losing wife, kid, mother, or a neighbor one has to think twice before one takes action methinks. I once read somewhere that fighting for three Fs is a must regardless of sacrifices. Family, Freedom, and Faith. Do you see where I'm heading with this aight. 1. What is necessary violence and what is not necessary violence? 2. What you make of insurgency fighters shooting from neighborhoods where civilians live knowing full well that the enemy they are fighting has no moral qualms to swipe that neigborhood clean with one go? 3. How do you go about having your conditions on taking part of the gathering heard? 4. Will you go to this imperfect reconciliation meeting and make your peaceful stand (change the polorizing figure at the top and we'll participate..or what not condition) in the gathering with the full glare of the world camers...imagine political exposure!? 5. In your mind, how do you separate Islamists from maniacal roaming thugs and killers burning and looting? I'm not finished with you awoowe. It's getting late in my neck of the wood and I'm extremely busy these days it is not even funny anymore wallahi. That being said, I will come back with coherant thought on what i think is the right thing to do not that it matters but what the heck just to show that opinions vary in this forum.
  6. Awoowe warkuba wa intee! The tragedy in Benadir region has little to do with PLers. Anyone who implies otherwise is onto something. If you something I don't know plz educate me.
  7. Simple questions Xiin. I will post another doqon-ma-garato Waxa-La-Yirri write-up after i'm done chitchating with you. Make sure you take me on...just take me on bro...challenge me...let's discuss the issues aight buddy. Ignore the doc-ka-yeers who have difficulty in having civil discussion on issues of the day. My questions are extremely simple. Simple answers will suffice. 1. Is this war a nationalistic war? 2. Is this war a religious war? 3. Is Somalia under occupation? 4. What does the TFG want? 5. Does the TFG represent a particular clan? Which clan is that? 6. Do you support peace in Somalia? 7. Do you support reconciliation summit between the warring factions (details and the terms later)? 8. Is this conflict about Muslim vs. Munafiq kinda deal as some would argue? 9. Do you believe force is the cure of the Somali conflict? 10. Talalaaaaaaa...David letterman dunk...you obviously don't want this TFG but how do you want to get rid of them: political intrigue and calculation or brute force with its all colleteral damages...and then what?
  8. Xiinoow, Af-qurac is right on. Aren't you wrong about this guilty-by-association charge implict in your post sxb?
  9. Came again Xiin! Are you rooting for one of the warring factions? Ya gotta be real this time buddy. Time is not on my side these days but I shall come back and reason with you and see if we are on the same music sheet.
  10. Good topic Cambarro. Solutions? You need to define what you think are the core problems. One sentence or statement will do. I shall come and share my two caanteyn Insha'Allah.
  11. Ka daroo dibi dhal Simply put, you are a helluva ayaan darro! Doqoneey dabkaa ba'
  12. Step in the right direction or a hopeless gathering? What do you think? At issue is the: 1. Security 2. Agenda 3. Selection of the participants 4. Clan representation 5. Ethiopian presenc 6. Need of negotiated settlement You can't go wrong in having dialogue with the folks you disagree. The need to have a negotiated settlement is not a point of contention here. That being said, there are some outstanding issues that need to be ironed out. Is the Somali problem a clan problem or there are some other complicated and underlaying issue at work here. Are we reconciling the clans? Yes, No! Where does the Islamist fit in this equation. Who's reconciling the clans? TFG? or Traditional guurti?!!!! Where does the TFG fit in all of this? How about the Ethiopians? Is the presence of Ethiopian troops in Benadir region a contentious issue? Who invited them? Who opposes them? How does this issue color the overarching foreign interference question? Is this upcoming proceeding a wholly Somali-owned one? How independent are the delegates? Are they clan partisans rooting for the interest of their clans? Who selects them for this task? Politicians? How about the guurti? Where do they figure in the negotiated settlement spectrum? Are they the drivers? or merely a dispensible pawn of a bigger game?
  13. Sakhar, awoowe the king is a ceremonial placeholder no more no less. He is the traditional head of sub-sub-clan of one of the PL clans. The sultanate of Bari is a thing of the past. It has seen its glory. Its downfall originated from within when Kenadiid challenged his cousin for the title. Inna Abdille Hassan and Italian Colonial officers destroyed it for good. Today each and every sub-clan has their traditional chief. Mudug, Nugaal, Sool, and Sanaag look their traditional guurti for leadership. They don't go to Qardho for advice. Still the "Boqor" title is a respected title among the "isim, guurti, and garcas" circles. In the event of guurti, such as Boqor, Garaad, Islaan, Beeldaaje, Suldaan, and Ugaas, attend the same conference, the Boqor presides. In his abscence, Garaad, Islaan, or Beeldaaje takes over as the guurti sees fit. There are no fast and hard rules but the "xeer" assigns the Boqor a ladder above the others. In any case, choosing a career polititian as the traditional tribal chief is a wrong move. This ceremonial position will lose the respect it commands if a career politician like King Kong take the helm.

    Chasing Safia.

Ahem! let me guess where the plot is heading... Walee annigiyo Saafiyo Cismaan waa isku soconaayee! *smiling* There is true story behind this line. Hodan, Safiyo, Idil, Ebyan, Hibo, Haboon, Ilwaad, Maandeeq, Bilan, Baxsan... What a name! awoowe keep using these names. When it comes to dress, Guntiino iyo Maliindi will simply authinticate the Kismayo setting so dress bajaqdaan with these...Speaking of setting how come you are not taking the characters to khamiis dip in Fuumo beach ya know what I'm talking about...have them head toward Kudhaa...with all the lil islands in between...story punctuated with references of this incredible natural beauty...that would be awesome. Blog it BOB!

    A video...

Well done. Hats of to the producer and the actors. Brilliant performance runtii. These two ladies represented the characters (miyi and magaal girls) pretty well. Cawralo was awesome. There is something to the way she performs her role in this theatrical performance. She is very likeable runtii. The other pretty hip chick is doing her part pretty well too. The producers and the staff of this channel are serving the community very well by producing these contents. Useful stuff. Relevant topic and it is in Somali. Perfect. If you guys are reading this post I encourage you to pick an another interesting contemporary topic. Simple, short, and to the point just as you have done with this "clash" of lifestyles.
  16. Is this national plan or it is limited to Michigan?
  17. Your cyber tantrums are harmless. Just so you know Inna Yussuf has no significant support within the clan. There are vocal minority who prides itself for his "achievements" in cut-throat Somali politics. They are of the opinion that Somalis fought in a brutal war. Each and every clan went out his way to acquire the weapons and ammunitions to kill and subjugate the Somali clan it considered as being the immediate enemy. He survived in that game and he has the very enemy, the Ethiopians, they all travelled far and away to beg for support inside Somalia. Islam has nothing to do with it, they insist. This argument has some element of truth but in it also have far more holes than truth. The thang is a third grade nomad like you cannot defeat that argument. So what happens is the ultimate fadhi-k-dirir where every one shouts at the top of his lungs and no one listens. What you mistake support for Inna Yussuf is only fadhi-ku-dirrir face saving. The thing is folks like you keep lambasting his clan with unfounded accusations. This sort of sweeping generalization hardens attitudes and it doesn't help a bit. You need to change your ways. You need to go to the front line and be a man enough to pay the sacrifices this cause of yours require. Your "doqonimo" pains me a great deal buddy. If you don't have the balls for this then plz do me favor and pick an argument any and if we agree fine but if we disagree we'll discuss it and reason through our way to conclusion. At issue is reconciliation, peace, insurgency, suicide tactics, picking a fight with Ethios in residential area...all these are interesting and pressing issues that reveal great deal of your principle, intelligence, and general outlook in this neverending saga. Throwing around labels is easy. Putting together a coherent and consisting argument for or against the issues I listed above is not that easy. You should try it sometimes. Ogow lama diririn we are just chatting here. I noticed that passions are high here...sxb ha igu jahaadin anniga ciyaleey aan ahee lol
  18. So your beef is with entire Somali clan huh? No wonder you are not picking on Ceydiid, Geedi, and RRA and the TFG partners! lol War ninyahow Taqwo iyo Alla-ka-Cabsi badan baa kaa muuqda. Qiirada iyo farabaxsigana waxaa kuugu wacan diinta baa kaa dhab ah loooooooooooooooooooooool
  19. Who are "they" Kalligii Muslim? I must say a person with your intelligence level is not in a position to look down upon anyone let alone the TFG supporters. To support Islam and those who are championing for its rise is one thing to alienate and condemn a certain segment of the society simply because they share their 35th great great granfather with the leader of the Ethio-Somali coalition is another animal al together. What I see is someone who may or may not genuinely and sincerely wishes Islam and its supporters to succeed the post-conflict Somalia but because his ignorance, impatience, or flat out "doqonimo" hurts the movement by speaking in its name. Please refrain "we" part and say "I" cuz you do great disservice to the Islamists name and what they stand for. Nowadays the line that separates Islamists and certain clans is blurred. You are one of many reasons that is the case. Allow ma iri.
  20. ^lol Kalligii Muslim ma intaa baad xikmadaadii ku ekaatay. War heedhe reerka waan ka dhashay oo hadde isir lama beddeli karo. Laakiin awoowe cidlaad iga ceyrsanaysaa e macne iyo xaajo inna rag ka doodi karo marnaba lamaad iman. Haddii hawshaadu tahay reeka oo dhan baa gaaloobay oo nafar inna Yussuf aan hoosta kala socon kuma jiro hadde caqliga ceynkaas ah qoraalkaaguu ka muuqdaa. Seattle ma joogo ee Europe baan haatan joogaa lol. Reerkuse belo ma ahe khayrka kama shireen miyaad kaa dhaadhacsan! Bilay ka munaaqashoonaye sidii Inna Yussuf loo oran lahaa widaay bohol baad Somali ku wadaaye bal si kale ku day oo bal Xabashka naga saar. Calaa iyo xaal inna rag xaajadii ii keen cantarabaqashkaad walaaqeyso kula walaaqan mayo e lol
  21. Here we go again! I don't think it will be as easier as it has been before. Bush will have to jump thru hoop after hoop. Dems made their opposition to the ongoing war in Iraq as their most single weapon against Reps. Now they are in charge of the purse, they won't go on the record approving Bush'a war. Couple that with their newly gained supbeona powers, the showdown of these two branches of government is on. Any way Iran is no Iraq.
  22. Yaa Xiin my man how life has been treating you lately? Great, I hope. In the Aashuun ku'adin has a sonic effect. Not sonic bang mind you but sonic nevertheless. It starts as echoes but brace urself it is gonna be sonic bang. Waxa-la-Yiri is pursuing that story. Ina-Kaadi Najaasle called the newspokesman at Villa Somalia and the feed we gor from formerly Idaamle editor is: negative. He said Abdullahi wouldn't do such thing. Waxa-la-Yiri chief bureau in Addiss desk is also pursuing this developing story...don't go away and stay in tune. We will have something in our nightly news.
  23. Lessons drawn from Union of Islamic Courts blunders In his essay titled "Principles of Success in the Light of Sirah", Wahiduddin Khan enumarates what he considers to be result-driven set of principles that can bring about social changes, in a reasonable time, to any Islamic polity. He talks about principles derived from Islam that can enable the Islamists to get the "job" done without exposing themselves to the dangers associated with advocating political platform that is antithesis to the status quo. What fellows is Waxa-la-Yiri interpretation of the thrust of his writeup. But before delving into the subject a quick overview of UIC is in order. UIC, from their humble beginnings to their final fighting days, remained to be a grassroot movement with Islamic platform in both their stated declarations as well as most of their actions. Yet their poltical platform has never amounted more than verbal pronouncements in the form of speeches, lectures, media interviews, and Q&A such as the one Shariif gave in halls of Somali National Universirty. A written plan of how this grassroot movements intends to engage with the TFG, shed its clannish roots perception, expand its sphere of influence from the national seat to the regional autonomies of the North without destablizing them, and forge a unity is no where to be found. A situation was created where various personalities who spoke on behalf of the movement voiced different, in both its modality and approach, methods in dealing with the pressing issues of the day. Lack of tax revenue and institutional capacity to manage its expanding sphere of influence as well as the inter-clan conflict other than military force frustrated many sincere Somalis who have been wishing UIC the best of luck. Waxa-la-Yiri has followed the events as they developed and kept eye on the overall actions of this movements. Waxa-la-Yiri commented on the important events as they happened and in some cases voiced critical concerns of the impatience of the movement and the inclusion of a brutal warlord in the leadership ranks. Looking back Waxa-la-Yiri draws conclusions from what had transpired during the war between Ethiopian led coalition and UIC forces, the events that led to the war, and the fallout in the aftermath of the war. Having read a summary of Mr. Khan's principles of success, it seems to me that had the movement practiced the following principles the outcome of that contest would have been different. In the conclusion of this post the editors will share their view of how best the movement can reassert itself in the current situation. With that brief background let's enumarate the principles of success Khan talked about in his writeup in the Renassaince Islamic Journal all of which UIC leadership seemed to have ignored in toto. American General once defined war as simple, direct, and brutal. He (I can't recall his name...its dancing in my head) said it takes simple, direct, and brutal man to wage it. When it comes to peace and settling the difference between warring factions, however, it takes prudent, wise, and patient man to bring the conflict to an end. One of the principles Khan listed as one derived from the Prophet's hadyi is: Do not engage in unnecessary confrontation. To bring home how this simple, common sense principle has its roots in the Prophet's days, he cites the Treaty of Al-Hudaybiah that made possible ten years of peace between Kufaarul Meccah and the Party of Prophet. The Meccan's were in an advantageous position and they were willing to enagage the Prophet pbuh in fighting. Take the easier path is another one in his list. Life is all about choices. In military matters, one has to evaluate one's options very carefully. Boqol aan u turahayn kan beegsada ma geesaa is Somali saying that abtly characterizes the foolishness of facing an standing army complete with airforce, tanks, and surveillance capabilities with untrained youth exposed to military machine like a sitting duck. My fav one is: Be pragmatic in contraversial matters. The Prophet's action during the signing of Hudabiah Treaty puts to bed the issue of pragmatism and how it is in sync with Islam. The Meccans objected the fact that the Prophet signed the Treaty with "Mohammed, the Messenger of Allah" What did Prophet Mohamed said about Meccans delegates raising this sort of objection which meant that they reject his claim to divine mission. He simply ordered the signature be changed to "Mohamed, son of Abdullah" With that stroke of pen, Muslims enjoyed ten years of peace in which they used to strengthen their military muscle, made pact with tribes of Arabia. Gradualism instead of Radicalism In other words patience is a virtue. One step at a time. As the saying has it Minjo dhooqo, hadba mid baa la siibaa. The summary I read there was comment about how Islam advocates evolutionary method as opposed to revolutionary method. In our situation educating the masses before applying the Shar'ia to ignorant constituents will yield result in the long term. The effort of Ikhwaan movement in late eighties has yielded an excellent result where most of the educated youth (Lafoole and SNU) embraced the dacwa and become the poineers of the second wave of the movement. Don't be a dichotemous thinker The dichotomy of theory and practice can be devastating if one doesn't think through one's actions carefully. It has been narrated that when Khalid bin Walid retreated from the battle (Mutah) in a tactical move (he was outnumbered), some questioned his valor and called him names such as deserter. They were thinking in dichotomous way: fighting or retreat! However, the Prophet called Khalid and his platoon "men of advancement". For he saw a third option than fighting or retreat - tactical manuevering. To be continue... PS: I'm having Oodweyne moment *smiling*
  24. ^Urs r political family huh! What is Waafaante doing there. I saw him in a San Diego Masjid last spring when I visited my mom there. Biz was all that was on his mind. I guess some1 jsut took the liberty to add his name to that list. It's possible ya know. Ninyahow you had me confused there for a minute.
