Speaking of local Guur traditions and how diverse Somalis are in that dept, there are Guur customs that are so strange that you would think it is a pagan practice unknown to Muslim Somalis. The fertile land where Shabelle river discharges its rich soil before it disappears, south west of Qoryooleey about 40Km inland...my uncle and my dad used to farm a large swath of land and we the kids used to go there in the summer... There lives a community whose languages are alien and unwritten and the only language of communication to other "kooyto" (alien) is May-maay...now Jiido, a local restive farmers, and Garre, wandering nomads, dominate the area. When Garre man ties the knot, he doesn't get to see the pride for about three months...that honor goes to his first cousins if he doesn't have one, his second cousins,...distant cousins. She will "serve" the boys and comes back to her man ready...and he won't have to deal the breaking the stitches open issues. We, the "Faradheer or Lama-Goodle as they called us, find it totally inappropriate...Some of the folks opened a dugsi or malcamad...those who were able to read Qur'an had an accent and you mistaken their accent for Paki or something. The Jiido is totally diff. They boy gets his head shaved, two pieces of white clothes, a cane treated with butter, a decorated mundul (shelter), and couple og cows, the pride gets (often too young) gets treated like...I don't remember what they do to her but from what I remember the boy comes out early in the morning...neighbors greet him (like Indians with the hands put together in a vertical position) ...she doesn't come out...and she gets beaten for no apparent reason. When my old man probed the issue of having your pride impregnated by your camel boy cousins he was reminded the Garre proverb: Garre kissigiis halaal waa. Kissi means garac, w acal, b-a-s-t-a-r-d... Gotta run...later

This dirin is for the clans or so they say. Chieftien's presence at the dirin will not change the political situation of the country (secession vs. unity)...nevertheless this TFG will score a point if he comes to Benadir, the national seat of Somalia that once existed, and takes part of the proceeding.

Saafi lost her persuasive force...still she can rescue her reput by explaining herself...

E-power, now a legal alien in Benadir, emboldened TFG, defeated Courts, Confused secessionists, sidelined Eritrea, weeping leader in Dijbouti, irrelevant Arab League, corrupted Puntland admin, and suspicious and war-weary Somalis are all keeping their eyes on the upcoming dirin rolled by first grade TFG leaders. Plot thickens...drama continues... Waxay bissadi jiir uga shakiday, oo shay kale u mooday, Shalayba waa cunaysaye, Waxay maanta uga sheexday, Ee baqaha shuushka ah ku riday, sheeg hadaad garato?

^Wave the flag and save your hot air for another cyber ku dirir aight. Malaha xaafada waxay kuu sheekaysataad run mooday...war reer Somaliland waa reer Somalida ka tirsan...hadday xaafadooda nabad ka dhaliyeen dee good for them...laakiin wax badan baa naga dhaxeeya...oo lama kala go'in wali...jeer kala go' rasmi ah la helo...wacade dirrin ina rag waa ku sheekaysan! Camel Boy, What ya know about realist yaa geel jire fawqal geel jire? Realist examines the situation and doesn’t go for fishing when hurricane Katrina is in the offing!!! Over forty thousand Tigre strong supplemented by seven thousand clan militia supplied and supported by the most power full nation in a divided clan crippled society is what you are dealing with awoowe! The issues you are dismissing are the core Somali issues. If Sherrif can make up with Inna Aideed tell me why f* he doesn’t deal with Geddi? Is that directive in Wasaa faat…don’t f** get my nerve ****** ***** ******* ah! Waa la dirriraa bay maqleen…war maatada ha laynina. Busy day @ work...bear with my incoherent rumble...Kashafa is for reconciliation if Habasha backs up their gear and heads west. Is that what I’m hearing from you? Not bad, not bad at all. We’re making progress. You are for reconciliation if that particular condition is met, right? Just making sure!! Super! Now, how does one get the Ethiopians out of Somali soil without creating sh*t storm? Can you make their stay painful? Oh sure! At what price and to what end though? The difference between the posters in this thread (the ones you thought inay isku camirayaan) and you is that they don’t want another sh*t storm unless there’s plan that can assure them that this downer however difficult and painful it may be at th end of the day will get us grab the golden cup and save the day. It doesn’t do any good for anyone to have provoked and furious well equipped and well trained soldiers take their anger out on the innocent in essence owning the neighborhood and demolishing properties and spilling blood with no resistance on their way. Kashafa that sort of insurgency and that sort of resistance is not only suicidal but it’s also the most stupish thing one could ever dream off…lead the enemy right to ur doorstep and go awol…what da f** is that sonny? Is that Islamic to you? Is that Jihad? Ya won’t be there to face it I know and I respect your frankness in admitting that one…but why do you support that sort of suicidal kamakazi urban warfare? Again how to kick the Ethios out? Ur answer: fight them…is that what I’m hearing from you again? Yeah right… who will do the fighting awoowe? Shabaabs? Or the sub-clans who are trying to avenge for their fallen men? Or perhaps an alliance formed by the two? What happen to the 8 million Muslims on whose behalf you’re fighting for; presumably all for the Shari’a and against the invading infidels?????? If they take this fight seriously they can get this fight to another level ya know? What ya make of their indifference Kashafa? C’mon tell me buddy! You’ve invoked Vietnam as if Uncle Sam boys are in the line of fire! Are you comparing these third grade boys with no command and control, no logistical supply, no safe-haven, no leadership, no grass root support nada nothing to mighty Viet cong or the Taliban lions? Ya gotta be kidding kidos! Granted Uncle Sam is beatable but remember what ya have on the ground is Geddi/Yussuf sub clans supported by Habasha militia!! What is your freaking plan coz these boys won’t do and ya know it!! Remember Most of us are for free and reconciled Somalia, Somalia that faces its daemons, Somalia that swallows its pride and braves a temporary downer in the short term, Somalia that is erected on reinforced slab on top of compacted ground so it can stand for generations to come. Let’s not confuse the issue of viability of this resistance operating in feuding and fussing clannish society and taking on well financed and well supplied multinational forces aided by Somalis TO the need of kicking Tigre outta Somali soil. We’re in agreement on the latter…we differ the keyfiyah on the first…ya hear me Kashafa…don’t forget that crucial point. Ma maqashay awoowe: Bahalyoow ma ciil baa? Nin baksaday* ma fulaybaa? Boqol aan u turihayn, Kan beegsadaa ma geesaa? *Baksaday = gabaday There is wisdom to be absorbed from these inquiries!

Right there Ngonge...right there buddy! We are on the same page on this. I called it imperfect reconciliation and I am of the opinion that if the other side wise up and do lil politiking they might able to at least level the plain field. That's better than the suicidal approach the insutgency is banking on.

Prince of Northwest, Ya gotta show up at the dirin. Ya see the agenda is clear and the details are unknown. Together will dissect this issue now and here and hopefully come up a practical solution to this dispute. Waa ku sidee, So addigan ka hor dagay. Saxarlaay ha fududaan, Waan soo socdaa kow dheh, Waxna waan sidaa.. Inna Mooge said it all if ya know what I mean. Ngonge, Putting Xiin aside, are you, in principle, for the Somalis solving its long standing dispute on the dirrin? Or are you for insurgency? What is ur take on how to go forward considering the positions of the contestants of this conflict? I'll address all the points you raised after I get a feeling of where you stand on the issue.
-
And why? Ya didn't answer that part buddy? Is it because of "Somalinimo" (Brotherhood), Muslinimo, or is it beacuse of Somalia. Ya see Prince you are not being straight with me lately
-
Brother AlhamduLilaah...all is well. Thanks for asking
-
^ @ democratic state. Good one Prince. I like ur style buddy. The Somalis will offer your corner a deal they can't refuse. Come to the dirrin first. We'll talk.
-
^ Do you or do you not feel the shame? Why?

Ya gotta love Somalis. I remember the same thing happening in Minneapolis in early 95. At the end Somalis prevailed. Language barrier? No problem...they stick together and stand on their ground...willing to make up lost times...that was the kicker. Good for them.

Play the game like pro and exploit the interest groups' desire to have Somalia that can govern itself but without grand Somaliweyn and Shari'a as the law of land kinda ambitions. Of course once you secure your land and eliminate the need to have FTs you can change all that to your desires. For now be the snake in the grass and have a grand reconciliation meeting under auspices of TFG with some guarantees from the power that be that they will make the necessary adjustments. Once the core issues are dissected the equation will change big time awoowe. Just don't be silly enough to convince yourself that few boys running around xaafada and occassionally succeeding to pull off one attack to only have their families pay a big price later on will get any1 anywhere. Waryee waan caraabaye ww ku kaa. Hadde yaan la is nicin raggu wuu iska sheekaysanyaa e.
-
Xiin awoowe waan caraabay. We agree on the big picture. We differ on the need to participate this one in its proposed format. I am for it. I think the opposition need to be represented in this one. They need to be there and challenge the TFG on many issues. My feeds are Uncle sam and Ethiopians are desperate for a way out and willing to compel TFG to compromise on many issues. Why not explore this route and see what happens? You know the hardlines in this TFG win hands down politically (nomad calculus that si) if the reconciliation effort fails. By default they keep their positions and get all the support the powers that be are willing to give to Somalia.
-
True Farax. And yes this TFG doesn't have what it takes to lead the task at hand. Its headmaster is very polorizing figure. But they do have Ethiopia on their side. Uncle Sam is on their side too. The odds are stacked against the insurgency. Ethiopia has not distinguished between insurgents and the civilians whose residences they hid behind. They will continue to do so. You provoke them and they will drop the hammer down! Bendir will continue to suffer from this indiscriminate shelling. You know the drill. You have seen the pictures. Insurgency haven't achieved an iota in last round. War heedhe read my posts for crying out loud I'm not for Ethiopia how can I be???? I want them out ASAP! To make that happen, reconciliation is one imperfect way in acheiving that? Again I'm questioning the effectiveness of the insurgency boowe. It didn' work last time. It will not work. It can't work. To make it work you need the support of sizable portion of Somali masses. Without that you just killing Benadir maato softly. Other Somalis seem to be sitting out on this. They consider your struggle as clannish. You are on your own, it seems. If a sizable portion of Benadir residence appear to be ignoring your plight. Don't support those who want to put their necks on the line. There other ways to fight back. That's all I'm saying dude!
-
Idinka are the chiken hawks who would love to see the continuation of the war in Benadir on the one hand and shed a crocodile tears for the victims of the war they so loudly support on the other hand. I don't know what to make of them anymore. Xaashaa awoowe I'm not pointing finger at Allah-fearing, Shari'a-loving Muslims who want Somalia that's governed under the good book. I'm questioning the tactics used by some (don't kno who they are but think they are some of the Benadir sub-clans) who endanger the innocent civilian population by provoking these FTs.
